Don't even think about looking at somebody else's quiz.
Woo! Extra credit
just go most of the time, esp for quizzes... really easy tests though
really entertaining class, quizzes are easy if you pay attention and go to class
High quality professor
He likes to hear himself talk- if you can put up with that, you're okay. He also has a habit of breaking students to rebuild them- I hate that!
Easy class, easy tests, just make sure you go. And the extra credit? It's great!

This class is easy...Requires little or no studying, however you do have to go to class..He gives attendance quizzes..but if you are there its like a free A every week..But other than that it's like a high school class.
The class is pretty easy, make sure you go to class most of the time and buy lots of pink scantrons! Good professor.
Started off really easy @ first and then the attendence quizzes start. he also begins giving notes and then having the quiz on them the next class session! other than those annoying things i'd recommend it.

I enjoyed his class. All of the group work was a hassle but the extra credit was great. Take this class.
Easy class, Word to the wise: make sure you choose your group wisely, you will have some problems in the future. This class takes up alot of your time and money for a GEN ED class. If you have money to waste and time to spare you will get an A.
Really boring class. Quizes every week, and you spend a lot of time and money going to see plays and doing projects. If you do decide to take it then pay attention to what he and his TA wear everyday because I swear they share clothes.
Very good teacher. Made class pretty fun and had a good approach to teaching theater survey.
...he didn't exactly teach us anything...so it was pretty easy! (and kind of a waste of time)...the only awesome thing about his class was that it gives you an excuse to take some time to go see shows!!!
This class was a BORE. Didn't like that your group grade depended solely on the other group members. But he is a pretty funny and nice guy...the TA was weird though.
I really enjoyed the class & found it interesting, but if you're not into learning about the history of theater you will be bored. He does give pop quizzes. Group work is determined by who you're sitting next to and those infront rows usually go first.

The worst class. Lectures very unorganized, and unclear, have NOTHING to do with the textbook. "Scares" you into going to class by giving pop quizes, sometimes three days in a row. Only good part is seeing the plays, which gets expensive.
Suffers from severe power tripping. Seems like he tries to intimidate his students. Kinda hard pop quizzes. Requires a lot of time outside of class to see plays. I would go for another prof, but maybe you can make it out with a B if you do an xtra credit.
Looks like someone out of Fraggle Rock. He makes sure you know who in charge. Class isn't as easy as I thought it would be, specific quiz questions. Buy Pink Scantrons in BULK (you'll need them for all of the pop quizes.)
If you have friends that are taking this class, take it with them! It's very boring and he is on a MAJOR power trip! For example-DOnt even try and get up to go to the bathroom in class or he will call you out BIG time!
Eh. He's very full of himself. He can be entertaining, but his lectures are sort of scatterbrained. He treats his class like children and gives a lot of pop quizzes. He's not TERRIBLE, just be prepared to go to every class.
He seems intimidating, but genuinely a nice guy. Very helpful. Requires you to go to class in which you should any way, COME ON YOU ARE PAYING TO GO! Very funny! J.J. is awesome.
J.J. is awesome! He's very funny. he tells you everything you need to know for quizzes in his lectures so take good notes and you'll get an A. Awesome guy. Easy class. I highly recommend.
Go to every class and take good notes if you wanna get an A. He doesn't pay much attention to the syllabus or which plays we were supposed to have read. Lectures don't come from book at all and having to go to 4 plays was expensive!
I thought the class wasnt that hard, but he does like to give pop quizzes and you can't miss a class. He seems intimidating when he is up there lecturing but if you talk to him after class he is actually very nice. Notes are a little unorganized.
evil, evil man. this class, is an intro. class and not only is it really in depth, but he hates you. thank god that the class is something easy, he does offer extra credit, but you have to go to every class, take notes and actually read. and see 4 plays.
lectures are totally random, gives alot of pop quizes so go to class but drops ur lowest quiz grade, nice guy kinda scary at times though, plays are pricey, DO EXTRA CREDIT it is so easy and 3% points added to grade overall, not a bad teacher
Great teacher, he makes the class exciting and interesting! Class is expensive because of the plays and such you have to attend, but definately an easy A. Gives alot of pop quizzes, but if you just pay attention, you will do just fine
Very cool guy. The class is very interesting. You should go everyday because he gives a lot of pop quizzes, but they're all really easy. You have to see plays, which can be expensive, but it's fun.
NO TALKING IN MY CLASS!! EVER!!!! he's got a serious power trip problem, but to be honest, he knows his****. if you can go to class everyday, you can get an A. there were like 11 or 12 pop quizzes, some of them he gave the answers away. easy A if you go.
Really interested in theatre, but can definetly talk to much on one subject. He also doesnt flow from lecture to lecture.
His lectures are all over the place which makes it hard to take notes. You can only really miss one class. It is easy if you go everyday and you pay attention.
Extremely easy. Sometimes boring, but go to class because he gives pop quizes all the time. most of the time he gives the answers. no talking at all... but its an easy A!!!!!!!!!
Not too bad, lectures are all over the place and boring, but if you go everyday and do well on the exams and the play requirements you will do fine. He gives almost every answer for the tests and quizes which is awesome. whatever you do dont talk or sleep!

You have to go to class!!! If you go to class and catch all the pop quizes I guess you will be fine. HE IS VERY BORING THOUGH. and theater is just boring stuff to begin with. If you can make it to EVERY class and afford plays then I recommend this class.
Fun and easy class. This class is pretty interesting and a very easy A. You should attend class to take notes for easy quizzes. You read a few plays, attend a few plays, take a midterm and a final where he basically tells you what you should know!
He is a little pompus and always trying to make an example out of some student. Takes quizes for attendence. You will get an "A" if you do all the work.
Such a fun class. I thought this class was going to be gay. But it turned out to be my favorite. Pop quizzes but they are easy. Tests are exactly from the notes and quizzes. The only thing I didnt like was spending extra money to go see mandatory plays
He is an awesome guy. He knows his stuff, but don't even think about talking during his class. He is late to class some, but you also get out early alot!!! His pop quizzes are so easy. Make sure you go to class!
He is amazing teacher, basically gives you answers on quizes, just make sure you attend class, turn off cell phone and don't talk. Easy A in the class. Likes to give attendance quizes
He is definitely passionate about theater and his lectures aren't that boring. You should attend his lecture classes because he gives you very straight forward notes for the up coming quiz but if you miss one quiz it's ok because there are a lot and he gives you plenty of answers during the quizzes.
Great class! Yes u have to show up for surprise quizzes but he lets u out 20 minutes into class and he gives u plenty of answers to the quizzes. Very nice person. Dont talk in class and turn off your cell phone though. Other than that EASY A!!! He really makes the subject interesting.
Great teacher!! He makes the class really interesting and fun. It's also a really easy A as long as you show up to class and don’t miss the quizzes.
Easy class. Except he makes you go see plays. Not so cool.
Take this class!!! JJ is great and his tests and quizzes are just like his reviews. Don't be late to this class, he'll point you out. Oh, and you have to go see 4 plays. It's not all that bad though. I loved this class!
Here's how it works... Expect a quiz atleast once a week that comes straight from your notes, you will need to attend 4 plays and write a short review on each, the midterm and final are just like the review. Don't be late to class or talk because he'll get pissed. Take this class, you'll learn a lot
this guy is great. the class is easy as hell and the teacher can be very entertaning. weekly tests that come straight from the notes the class before and fridays are movie days. the only part that sucked was having to see four plays but it was worth it. if you want an easy a take this class.
This was my favorite class this semester. This class is very easy and he reviews for all big exams, including the midterm and final. He usually gives quizes once a week and they areeasy. You have to go see 4 plays throughout the semester, but you get to chose which ones you want to see. It's agreat class
This class was VERY EASY great gen. ed. class!!! He's flexible with the class and clear about what he wants so it's easy to do well.
Amazing professor, does everything he can to help you, in an out of class. If you're looking for film and theatre intersnships, talk to this guy. He's also a cutie.
j.j. is the best! you get all the answers to the tests, even the midterm and exam during the reviews. just dont be late or he will make fun of you, no harm intended tho. great guy if u get to meet him. weekly quiz which entails the preceding lecture...he hints the answers during the quiz. TAKE THIS!
ive only had the class for one day so far, but he seemed cool. i just wanted to say that he looks like silent bob, which makes him much cooler.
J.J. is the single coolest teacher I've ever had. He is both entertaining and informative, a feat that 99% of professors cannot accomplish. Take his class even if you don't have too, its a fantastic and entirely enjoyable experiance that no one should miss out on. Just go to class and get an easy A.
do NOT. i repeat....DO NOT be late to his class.
Funny guy, easy class. Only drawback is having to see four plays and it's kind of hard to skip because he'll give attendance quizzes.
Great Class! You have to watch really boring movies, but the class is really fun and JJ is so entertaining. You have to see 4 plays, which sucks, but the class is awesome. Expect a quiz once or twice a week and don't be late for class, and you'll do fine!
one of the must amazing and helpful people you will ever meet. i learned soooooo much, it's insane. just a great person really.
Very funny and interesting. Take this class!!! He reminds me of the guy on Along Came Polly, the actor from "Crocodile Tears"
JJ is AWSOME! Great class, whether you're trying to get rid of your Gen Ed or are interested in theatre. You come out of that class learning something without trying much. Even if you hate theatre, you will end up liking it just by the way he teaches it. I totally recomend taking him!
JJ is flippin sweet... take this class, just for fun, yes movies can be a little boring, but if you are in class and arent brain-dead, you will pass this class. Great lecturer, very funny, just plain awesome!
Awesome class, awesome teacher. If you just listen to his lecture, you don't have to study for quizzes. Make sure that you go to ever class though because there are tons of attendance quizzes- they help your grade...class isn't boring so it's not bad.
On the first day of class this man changed my outlook on acting, and at the time when I was doubting my career choice he showed me new appreciation for what I do. Awesome teacher, awesome man. His class is easy as long as you attend, but go to this man simply for the experience of learning from him.
easy class, but not very good continuity from one class to the next, sometimes he can be repetitive. He's an overall nice guy and opens your mind to new expierances. Definitely take his class for an easy A.
J.J. is the best! He is a fun teacher and motivates you to go to class (you should go anyway because he gives attendance quizzes - Free A's). You may have to go see some plays but he doesn't care how you critique it as long as you're honest. If theatre is what you don't like, then J.J is the teacher for you!
sooooo easy. Seriously just sit your butt in the class and listen to what he has to say and you will pass. All you have to do is take a little bit of notes everyday, maybe watch a movie, take the easiest dang quizes and tests, and see a few plays and you are set. I dont see how ANYONE can fail unless they dont attend.
The class itself was easy. You go to class and take notes, have to occasional busy work assignment, popquiz, midterm, final.I wasnt a big fan of JJ,he said we would have a pop quiz everyday when we really only had about 6.He showed up late or not at all often.Didnt reply to emails. He had us do activities to help open our minds, but it was jsut annoy
Everyone think JJ is the most awesome teacher they have ever known..he's ok. His class is really easy and he tries to make it fun with corny jokes, group assignments and extra credit activities at the end of the semester, though its still boring. He reviews for all exams, basically giving you the answers. He does give attendance quizzes. I got an A
Only advice is to make sure you don't miss too often, because attendance is kept up with in quizes. It was an overall interesting course and a great excuse to go see productions. A great class to take if you want a break from hardcore studying.
hmmmm...kind of bored in class
Easiest class ever! Gives you the answers to his midterm and many pop quizzes. Pop quiz's are about once a week. You perform a piece of musical theater for +3 points extra credit on you overall grade (optional). Go to 4 plays (25% of your grade). Just show up to class b/c he likes checks attendance and you'll be fine. I am getting an A so far.
JJ's class was really boring, except for the musical scenes everyone performed. It might as well be a theatre history class. So many notes and quizzes and you're required to see too many plays. But it was pretty easy and he's funny. Take it for an easy A.
this class was so easy! and it was actually interesting. JJ is really into what he does and he makes the subject cool. at times the lectures get boring but he always makes it exciting, tests and quizes are easy. just make sure u show up to class and u will be fine
This class was awesome. Sure it gets boring at times but the material isn't hard at all. Make sure you attend regularly and take notes. The midterm and final are easy. His reviews are awesome. He gives a bunch of attendance quizzes. This class is definitely an easy A as long as you attend. Don't take Theater Survey with anyone else!
OMG i LOVED this class! So much fun and JJ is awesome. No need to worry. Just go to the plays and go to class cause he gives random attendance quizes. Piece of cake.
great class..im definitly going to miss his lectures next semester..actually make learning this stuff fun..just do the plays, make sure u dont miss too many quizzes and youll get an easy A..o yea the extra credit is a blast...
JJ is very unorganized, and he really seemed to hate our class, so he'd definately not offer any extra credit , and he would make us take wuizzes 2 weeks after the night he told us for cram for the next day.... but whatever, I learned a lot, he's a great guy!
JJ is an awesome guy!!! You have to go to class because he gives pop quizzes. All the test and quizzes were very easy and he wil give answers during the quiz. You dont have to buy the book test are on the notes from class. He also offers 1 extra credit assignment.
Unorganized! I learned ten times as much from the TA's from the two classes they taught then I did from him. To put it simply... he made me want to change majors to get out of theatre!!
This is one of those, "all you have to do is go to class and its an easy A," classes. Just show up and take notes for an easy A. Extra credit adds 3% to your TOTAL GRADE, so your an idiot if you cant get an A.
Very easy class but attendance is need for the notes. Pop quizzes are also given randomly. Easy A.
GO TO CLASS, that's all i have to say, otherwise you will end up with a c if you miss more than three quizzes and you will if you start skipping class because he gives them all the time. all you have to do for this class is GO and you'll get an a. that's it. just sit there. and you get an a. oh and go see four plays. easy as pie- GO TO CLASS!
JJ is sooo funny!!! prepare to laugh.. i wasnt really into theatre but he still makes the class interesting. Do the extra credit cause its sooo much fun
Go to class, go see the plays and you will do great. Test Reviews cover almost everything on the Midterm and Final. Easy class if you just go.
DO THE EXTRA CREDIT it's 30 seconds, simple and stupid, 3 points on ur final grade (i had a 77.3 and i got a B because i stood up there for 30 seconds). He basically gives you the tests before you take them in the review, just go to class, and do the play reviews and make sure they are full length (mine were short that's why my grade is only a B)
If you like to skip class don't sign up. Other than that... really easy course.
GO TO CLASS! you absolutely MUST- EVERY SINGLE DAY. i thought i would make an A, and i would have, easily, if i would have gone to class- but instead i have a D because i missed a few simple three point quizzes and that will just kill your grade because he's a little harsh about the grading.
This class is an easy A if you just show up. Grades are based on this: 25% quiz(most of the time TA give u all the answers to it) 25% 4 plays and write up, and 25% for each exam (midterm and final). Do the extra credit at the end of the year easy 3 points added to your final grade. Take this class if u need an easy grade boost
Funny teacher, on occasion has mood swings, and gets really ticked if your late.. even by one minute. He gives attendance quizzes at exactly the time class begins so BE ON TIME. Fun projects, laid back class, everythings group work, and easy quizzes. Good class.
JJ is my hero. He truly enjoys what he teaches. Dont listen to what these other guys are listing here. The only way to see JJ's wrath is when you do something idiotic. He is very lenient and very fun. The class is half (fun!) lecture and half theatre projects involving groups. It is an easy A, as long as you SHOW UP! Dont register unless you care!
Worst class ever! The class is so unorganized and it seemed like he would just randomly give you stuff to do to fill time. He's a nice guy, but I didn't learn much and I can't stand unorganization so I disliked the class a lot.
So much fun! So interesting. Just an all around great class and professor. I took this class as a Gen. Ed. requirement and I'm glad I did. You do have to go see a couple of school plays but they were great. Definately take him.
Nice guy, cares alot about the Theatre but it seems like he doesn't care as much about teaching theatre survey classes, but he is a professional director. Quiz every class and tests are easy, tells you whats on it beforehand. Gives you 3 extra points on your FINAL GRADE if you do some type of perforance. Had to see 4 plays and write 2 pages on each
JJ is awesome! really nice guy. just make sure you attend mostly all of the classes. not hard though because most of his classes are on a one day a week schedule. quiz every week that you can totally BS your way through. i never opened the book & got an A-. you have to go to 4 plays-but they are really good! DEFINITELY recommend!!!!
Easy class, but you will have to work for your grade. He gives random attendance pop quizez. You have to see 4 plays and write easy reviews, along with an easy mid term and final. He takes this class seriously so if you don't, take cinema survey or a different prof. cause once again you will have to work for your grade.
GREAT teacher! Def. recommend him. Very very easy A, just don't ever be late to his class. Required to see 4 plays & write reviews. Very considerate & understands that this is a gen ed freshman level course. Drops 3 lowest quiz grades. Passionate about his class & keeps your attention.
This is an easy class! Its pretty boring, all you do is come to class and take a ton of notes. Also, do not take if you like to skip class, because the attendence quizzes are important to your grade! The only hw is the 4 short reviews. He doesn't seem to like teaching this lower level course, which may be why its boring.Overall dull but easy class!
It's a perfect class for incoming freshman because it eases you into the college level/cycle. Make sure to go to class; he gives quizzes every day. Flip through the book and you'll be fine. He reviews everything with you so you know what he's excepting for exams, and he does well on keeping his lectures fresh and interesting. TA's help teach a lot.
I don't know what happened, but he is definitely not a good professor anymore. We recently filled out evaluations on him and they were awful. He loses papers, he has zero respect for students, etc. I had a neutral stand on theatre coming into the class, but thanks to Ruscella, it's negative now.
I was kind of interested in Theatre before I went to class and he sold me on it! JJ is the best teacher that school has ever had! I can't believe he isn't there anymore - makes me want to switch schools. He made class fun, and was always around to help however he could after class. The rest of the profs couldn't care less - JJ cared!!
Mr.Ruscella is THE VERY DEFINITION OF A TEACHER. He has hands-down been one of the best teachers that I've ever had (and probably ever will). His teaching methods are very effective. Very good teacher. He deserves the highest award a teacher can recieve. God put Mr.Ruscella on Earth to live life and teach. :)
