He was very rude at times and very degrading when u asked a question. He was always right (even if he was really wrong). The only good thing is that he curves the grades...if your taking a class with him...GOODLUCK!
Rude and unhelpful. He mocked some of the students during class. Half the time he couldn't add properly and then got mad at us when we pointed it out. I was very dissapointed with this professor. If you don't have to don't take any classes with him!
Don't take this teacher if you can help it. I regret not dropping the class.Very confusing and hard to follow. Makes mistakes and yells at the class when we point it out. Onlt chance you have is that he does use a curve in grading everything.
he is the worst professor ever. his handwriting sucks and his explainations are even worse.
HORRIBLE PROFESSOR, RUDE, VERY HARD TO UNDERSTAND WITH HIS ACCENT...
He seems hard to start with, but he gives u practice tests that are almost identicle to the original. I'm horrible at math and so far i'm doing really good in this class. As long as u show up and pay attention it's an easy B. He also never checks homework.
ok he does have an accent but he tries very hard.......hes not a bad teacher he does have office hours....but over all hes nice but needs to relax a liitle bit!
what is everyone talking about?! I took this guy during the summer and the class was easy. He tells funny storys. He also leaves the room during exams  Just keep up with the homework and study, you'll be fine.
good. easy teacher. review sheet is the same as the test. i recommend him
Very good teacher. I love his real world application problems and his MS Excel projects. I would recommand highly for Statistics.
Just stick with his review and you will do find. His reviews are very much like his test. If you do poorly on a test, he gave extra credit assignment out of the web to boost up your grade.. overall, I wouldn't say excellent but a Good teacher. I recommend him..
He is very hard to understand.he never explains what you say you dont understand. He repeats the same jokes over and over again.I dont if its becuase it is a summer course but he goes way to fast for me to understand everything. We never start out with small simple problems it is always huge numbers to deal with.grading format is terrible.
He is a very good teacher. if you pay attention in class and do the Homework it is an easy A.
i AM A COMPLETE IDIOT IN MATH... I TOOK TWO OF HIS CLASSES BECAUSE THE REVIEWS ARE LITERALLY HIS EXAMS.. TAKE THE CLASSS
he is easy and nice professor. I am glad to he in his class
Like others said he is rude and cannot be wrong. If you ask a question in class it seems he spends more time arguing about your question than actually answering it. Spends way to much time on simple topics and not enough time on the hard ones. I wish I had not hat him as a teacher.
terrible, hard to understand, his accent is hard to understand, he goes way to fast to understand the hard stuff, and you especially cant understand him if he is angry..don't take statistics with him! or any class!
Great teacher, just find it odd that he would speak creole to other students while teaching. Didn't think that was fair.
Had him for Pre-Calc & stats. He gives you a practice test...then goes over how to do every problem...then takes a few of those problems and changes the numbers and that's your test. If you can't get at least a B+ in his class, you fail. The end.
Solid teaching + classroom entertainment-all in one package. This guy is funny, he made the time go by fast because he entertains you while teaching you. I will highly recommend him over any professors. I had a math instructor at RCC who did not have an office and couldn't get help outside of classroom. James is always available in his office
James is the best thing who ever hit the school since slide bread. He is funny and teach well. he makes time go by fast
James is simply the best
James is good overall. He will give you a study guide plus a review prior to a test. Make sure you can do all the exercises in the review and the study guide and you will be fine for his test. Him & Homicki are the only two professors at RCC who gives nice review, study guide & Extra credit work to help you do well in the course. Here is funny too!
good at teaching, not so easy but not so hard. Very helpful gives good examples.
I read a lot of posts. This guys tries to really help you out Alot! simply put if you go to his class everyday, you most likely won't even need the text book. He goes into strong detail with his examples, and he's just a good guy.
He is very good and easy to pass. I had him for calculus III & Statistics. I highly recommend him for any Math course. Straight forward teaching. He gave good Definitions and examples for every lecture. Prior to an exam, he will give you a nice study guide, make sure you can do what's on the study guide and you'll be fine for his tests
I wish all math teachers were like him. For a hard course he made really easy to follow and understand. He is crystal clear..I didn't even need the book in this course. I just follow his definitions, handouts and example. That were good enough for me to pas the course.
I like MR. Salvadon method of teaching. I took Precalculus at Rutgers and at RCC. I failed both times. I took it over the summer with MR. Salvadon and I found him to be very straight forward. At least Mr. Salvadon prepared me to take an exam an. My last instructor give no review or study guide and didn't allow me to use a calculator. He's good!
I found him to be very entertaining and very enthusiastic about teaching. He made times go by fast. He gets to the point and teach you exactly what you need to know unlike some other instructor who beats around the bush before they can get their points across. I recommend him for calculus I. I don't know how he is in the other courses.
Salvadon is the man! Better than any other math teacher I've ever had. He's clear(slight accent), and gets to the point. As long as you put in the time and go over his reviews; you'll be good.
took pre-cal and calculus over the summer with him. Very understanding and accommodating. though the class is very hard. gave a review before the tests which were very similar to the tests. dont have to pay attention at all, just laugh at his jokes.
he has an accent, which u can get used to. he will repeat a joke 5 times to make sure everyone gets it.he will s/t make mistakes, but he can never be wrong, so he will blame someone else. he gives reviews before the tests that are very similar to the tests and are pretty easy. don't buy the book.
Mr. Salvadon is the really deal. He's good teacher and make time go by fast with entertaining math jokes while solving problems. I took calculus & Stat last Fall & I did fairly well. His reviews help but not enough to pass the class like everyone's saying. I couldn't make it without my calculus & stat book. You need a book for a cal course.
Nice Guy...Very understanding and helpful...
Your money back guaranteed! Take this guy..I highly recommend him..He is hilarious..funny and good. He makes time go by fast. He gave good study guide and prepare you well for his tests. If you can't pass his class, you're Dumb:-)
YES NO MAYBE? Great Professor, I am a happy customer! He gives good clear examples. He really tries to get everyone to pass - DO NOT GIVE UP, even if your tests scores are failing! I got an A. His reviews really prepare you for the tests.. Anyone giving bad marks did not take how seriously hard Calc is!!! Take Him!
Good professor.Take him.I like his math jokes. He makes me laugh. He is funny.I had previously take Stat and I had struggled a lot and failed. This guy made it look easy to understand. He knows all the calculator commands and show how me to use them. My other professor flat out tel me to go read my manual when I asked for Statistics calculator help.
His class really was interesting. Boy did I learn Calc 2 in his class. The people who say that they can't understand his accent are the kids from WASP's type backgrounds coming to class with spending their rich parents' money and then they fail the class because they didn't study becuase they've had it easy their entire life. Yeah BU this one is to
He really is funny and makes jokes at the rigth times when the class gets boring. Gives a review sheet that mirrors the exams. If something isn't clear, he helps you make it clear. If you're willing to put time into studying, you will get the A's. Cliche I know, but that's just how it is. Also, ignore anyone in your summer class that comes from BU
Mr. Salvadon, best teacher at RCC, best teacher ever. Take this guy, your money back guaranteed! I heard from my friends that this guy had a reputation for making hard courses fun, easy and simple. Well,I had him for Statistics and calculus II over the summer, he is every bit of what they said and plus....:-)
THE WINTER SESSION WAS NOT EASY BUT MR. SALVADON AND THE GOOD LORD GOT ME TROUGH STATISTICS. I COME ON HERE ON RATEMYPROSSOR TO GIVE HIM IS DUES. HE IS A GOOD TEACHER. WHAT HE DID IN 4 WEEKS IN JANUARY, MY OTHER PROFESSOR COULDN'T DO IT IN A WHOLE SEMESTER. KUDOS TO MR. SALVADON. GREAT TEACHER
good teacher. deals with morons prety well, and will help you learn something if you do not understand it. "it's not his first time around the block, he's been doing this for 20 years".
"i'm no rookie, i've been teaching this for 20 years" he's okay in dealing w/ problem students, & he's good at slowing down when you ask, he's a really nice guy, but if he's in a mad mood he'll take it out on the class. only four tests that's what your grade is solely based on. should make sure he takes attendence daily though
You can take this dude. He is good and funnnnnnnnnnnny! He makes learning calculus fun & easy..I hardly used my books & still did well with his notes & study guide....Best teacher...:-)
I found his study guides to be very helpful prior to a test. He made calculus looks and feel so easy.. I heard every one talks about how hard calculus is but professor Salvadon made it looks so easy..
One of the easiest and nicest professors in RCC. He is comical. The 3 tests he gives are a mimic of the review sheet.
Very helpful teacher and he's willing to teach and he keeps the class interesting and fun. Time just fly by with him.
I found his classroom notes easy to follow. This guy teaches so well, I was able to follow his class room examples and his study guide before tests and still do well in the course without a book. He's alright , you can take him next semester
His accent is ridiculous. It is hard to understand him & he hates repeating himself. He doesn't drop your lowest test grade. I found his class difficult and I found him to be overall mean
Great teacher. The people who can't understand him are the same stupid people that talk during class and don't pay attention. Really nice guy, and great teacher!
James Rocks! This Tuesday night class was rocking. I had a ball and and I learned a lot. Excellent teacher!
I just finished Calculus II. It was not that bad. This guy made it easy. I mean really easy.I just followed his notes on the board and focus on his study guide before the tests and I did well. The study guide was great. He got mad at time but he was a OK. Good professor!
The online Statistics course was scary at first but it was alright toward the end . Look out for his statistics Excel project. It's not an easy project.
I have never had a teacher I hate more than him. Late consistently, demeaning to students, interrupts questions with comments that have no relation to the actual question. People making reviews on here must have been teachers' pets or had no desire to really learn, for calculus at least. Don't torture yourself.
I took his online Stats class. Thank god this wasnt my first time taking the couse because it was all on your own. He wasn't clear when I emailed him, and he was very unorganized with weekly updates and due dates. Brace yourselves.
Rude, defensive, and always late to class. If you email him he doesn't reply at all. He knows his stuff, and gives great reviews before the tests but overall I wouldn't suggest taking a class with him.
"Ready for math? Yes no maybe!" He's hilarious with the funniest jokes and stories, but would go off topic too often, and then complains about not having enough time. Excel project is easy, but takes a lot of time (a good 5 hours AT LEAST). Really interesting guy, I would recommend taking it because it was so easy, but he's not the best professor..
No doubt, he's the best I just had him for both , Statistics and Calculus I. His examples and study guides are so good, I hardly had to do any homework or even open the book. He's easy to learn from and do well in his class
Wouldn't say he's the best but he's better than a lot math teachers that I had. Unlike teahers who make you study bunch of gabages before a test & none of these gabages are on their tests, at least, his tests are taken right from his classroom notes/examples and review materials. He knows his stuff & I found his reviews very helpful before exams
Great Professor! and keeps class entertained. Class is 3 exams and percentage worth increases from first to last exam. Exams are exactly like the review test he gives before each exam. Doesn't check homework but definitely helps to do it. Attend class & take notes and you will do great. Got a A in the class and I didn't kill myself in studying.
Just study the study guide and you'll be fine
I was beyond scared to take Stats but he's amazing! He does have an accent, but he has no problem repeating himself. His review sheets are HEAVEN SENT!! Do them, learn them like the back of your hand and you will pass its literally promised. Take him and work hard you'll at least get a B!
I'm taking his online stats class. This is probably the worst class that I have ever taken. Let this be a warning to you: DO NOT TAKE HIM! He's very unorganized and is not a great communicator. Seriously good luck if you think you can succeed in his class.
I don't now about any other courses but he was great for Calculus. I found him to be extremely easy to follow and his study guide before tests and the extra credit work was an opportunity to really re-learn calculus and earn some extra points. I rated him with B+ the exact grade I earned in this course . LOL
he's a good teacher but talks REALLYYY fast and sometimes makes him hard to understand.
He was fun to have him as a teacher. I took intermediate Algebra with him. All I can say about this professor, he knows his math and his good a what he does. He gives really good study guide to keep you focus on studying for a test. Just re-do his classroom examples and concentrate on his study guide , you won't fail his tests.
He was not helpful at all! Did not like to help any students. And was disrespectful towards many students thru out the class course. Didn't understand anything he said, nor did he give any opportunities to pass.
I found him to be cool, fund and easy to pass. He pretty much puts everything you need to know for a test in front you on a review sheet. If you go over his board examples and his review sheets before a test, you should at least pass
I have a cool name for this professor: Mr. Professor Calculus made fun& easy. I took this course at West Virginia and it wast a nightmare nerve-racking course. I re-took it at RCC this summer and This guy broke it down like abc123 and made it so much fun and easy. He really makes you laugh, makes time go by fast while teaching these tough topics
His statistics class was great and fun. I found him to be crystal clear and easy to pass. He has the best study guide for tests. Stick to his study guide before tests and you won't fail.
I like this guy. Right on the money. No nonsense and no beating around the bushes. He gave good notes and good examples in class and when it comes to test times, he gave superb wonderful study guides before the exams. My advice to everyone, go over his examples in class and his practice tests and you'll be fine. don't even bother with the book.
Stat class was fun and great. Here's hilarious. He's funny and and good. Take him for Statistics..
Positive: Great teacher, knows his stuff and his Statistics handouts are easy to follow and really keep me focus and off the book. Negative: He hardly use the book. His examples are great and reflect what's on the book. I won't purchase the book for his course
Easy and funny. Always give good review before tests.
Agree , best study guide before he gives a test. Wish all my professors would do that . Let me tell you, he's a good solid teacher who's highly entertaining and funny. I just don't know how he managed to connect Mathematics jokes with these hard Calculus topics but he did. He made that Calculus course so fun and easy.
Great professor. Helps his students in any way he can. Great study guide before tests and great lectures.
Big shout out to professor Salvadon. Guarantee to laugh, learn and have fun in class. Two courses with him over the summer, Calculu I and II. He's the really deal. No doubt. Fund professor to be around. Great review before tests and give extra credits for homework
I took Calc 2 with Prof. Salvadon over the summer and it was a great experience!
BEST TEACHER EVER AND I AM HORRIBLE AT MATH AND HE MADE ME PASS
3 things I like about Salvadon's class: a) He gave the entire class time to take the test and extra time if needed . My other professors always pull exams in front me after an hour. b)He gave 1 point credit for each homework to be added to your lowest grade c) Good review before tests. He's funny as hell. He knows his stuff and teach it well.
The best Statistics teacher at RCC!
No doubt! Good teacher, teach well and he's fund and easy to pass. I like the extra time he gives on exams and the extra credit for the homework. Best review prior to exams
he is very patient and have office hours he will go over the material if you don't understand it. if you practice his study guide and do his work you will past his class
AWESOME professor. Hilarious, caring, simple. I'm horrible at math and he made it possible for me to not be horrible. his lectures are easy to understand and will help you if you dont understand. 3 total course tests. 10 hw's, 1 point per hw added to ur lowest test grade at the end of the semester. 1 Project (really easy 100). take his class!!!
Calculus III was fun and easy. I anticipated a much harder course. This guy is the really deal. He's good and hilarious. He teaches with entertainment and make time go by really fast. His review sheet before tests really help and I like the fact he gives extra credit work and for the homework. I highly recommended him for calculus.
Salvadan is a nice person and he's a funny guy. The class is very easy, he's probably one of the easiest calculus professors at RCC. However his teaching methods include doing problems himself on the board and then making fun of anyone who asks questions. He discourages actually learning the material.
Back to back Statistics & Calculus with professor Salvadon in the Summer session. I am so happy to have earned these 8 credits . Straight forward professor ,no non sense . He gave tone of examples in class, gave extra credit work & extra points for doing homework , gave really good practice & study guide before tests. Take him and Love him
The key to getting an A is to study and understand how to solve his study guides since it's identical to the tests that he will give. Trust me. Gives extra-credit homeworks for additional points!
Very smart, knows his math very well, want you to succeed in class, very helpful, straight forward, no tricks, make class interesting, he never let us out early.R
Professor Salvadon is a caring professor who likes to see his students succeed. He gives a lot of homework, but he's there all the time to help with any questions. He's gives good feedback also outside of class.I took statistics online with him and found him to alway be helpful. If you show hard work you will achieve good grades.
Very good professor who gave good review before each exam and extra credit for doing the homework. I was suck at math over the summer and did poorly on the final exam. I failed the course but he was good helpful teacher and funny I must be the only student on record to come here to give a professor a good evaluation after he failed a course. LOL.
Hes a good man but if you ask one simple question he goes on and on. Also he acts like anything you ask its because you are out to get him. His handwriting is barely legible and his accent makes him difficult to understand. its like a easy C. To end on a posotive note, he is always willing to stay after class and answer any questions.
Salvadon is an amazing teacher and the Extra credit he gives is great, he gives review sheets so you know what to expect on the tests and has review classes for the tests, he is a funny guy and i would recommend him to anyone. He is not a hard grader and he doesn't make the class hard. I had him for Calc 2
Mr. Salvadon is GOOODY GOOOOD. LOL. The online statistics class wasn't that bad like everyone was telling me. It was more time consuming to complete the online assignments but I stick with the course and it worked well toward the end. Stick with the homework forum, do his Excel project and complete the online stat work, you'll be fine.
Wasted a lot of time in class going on tangents about teaching Calculus I and such. Very middle of the road professor.
Calculus II online was not easy. His greatness and accessibility got me though it. He was available 7 days a week. I can text him a problem late Sunday night, he worked it out on a piece of paper, sent me the picture with complete work and answers. I really appreciated that. RCC should make all their professors accessible like this.
i dont know lol
Great teacher for Statistics. Take him
I had his class my first semester and it was online only so we never meet for his class. Statistics online with no one teaching you was very difficult for me and he replied to emails very late. Highly recommend a teacher for statistics but NOT Professor Salvadon and have the textbook you'll need it.
He's alright. He gives a)Extra credit work to boost up your grades. b)Take home Math project. c)Good review before actual classroom exams. d)Lot of examples and applications in class. e)The entire class time plus an extra hour for each exam. I could of easily got an A if I didn't slack off toward the end of the semester.
Great professor for Statistics. No pressure at all in his class. You'll have all the times plus extra time to complete the exams and other assignments.
Take him for cal. He made Calculus III looks easy. I anticipated a much harder course. I like the hybrid exams and extra credit work. 50% take home and 50% in class. I must confess some these 3-D figures wouldn't have been a nightmare to graph in class during an exam. I had him for for online Stat last semester. He's also good for statistics.
Easy class and was online, taken at SJU. Two assignments biweekly, one on Canvas and one on MyLabMath. A bit annoying that you have to spend $100+ for access to the MyLabMath course. Otherwise, work was manageable. He is not online savvy so some things he posted were confusing, but could be dissected with some effort. Would take again
I took professor Salvdon Statistics class and he absolutely walks you through the whole course. I'm really not a math person but he surely was very helpful with his videos that he posts for discussion homework assignments as well as the mid-term project. Professor Salvadon is EXTREMELY PASSIONATE ABOUT STATISTICS!
He's very good and I found him to be easy to pass. I learned a low from the engineering project. If you're going for engineering, here's the man. Focus on his study guide and review before an exam. That's the key to do well in his course.
Mr. Salvadon is Great for Stat online. I like his video lectures. His video lectures show you exactly how to complete all assignments including the exams & SPSS project. RCC should make all their professors do the same for online Asynchronous courses. Video tape themselves doing the work rather than just upload PowerPoints & a website to work on
If you follow instruction well, you should easily get an A in his Asynchronous course. He has video instructions that guide you step-step how to complete each assignment, homework, project and exams.. Just watch his instructional videos and you'll be fine..
Statistics is a challenging course but Professor Salvadon makes it as straightforward as possible and really removes all the complex jargon you may find in other mathematics classes. He does a very good review for the exam in class and gives lots of handouts for everyone to work on during class. Have a lovely semester, I know you will.
To me he was very hard to understand. The way things that were taught were complex, as well as lectures and projects. He is understanding tho, like he can give you extensions on the some test and projects if you got some things going on.
Great professor for statistics. He has an accent and teaches at a really fast pace although it becomes slower when he reexplains upon request. Easy to understand. Graded on very few things so studying is a must if you want to pass. Attendance is mandatory but he is lenient.
If you put in effort you will succeed!!
very funny and loud. good teacher and tells u everything taht will be on tests in a review sheet
One of the worst professors I've ever had. Not only is he a tough grader, he's rude and compares you to other students in the class. He talks to me like I don't know what I'm doing & when I asked a question, responded with "you are not confused, you just simply do not pay attention like the other students in this class." So inappropriate and rude.
Very good professor! His course is very well structured. I found him easy to follow and easy to pass.
Very good professor. His class is well structured. I found him easy to follow and easy to pass.
Took his class online. The homework was incredibly easy, there was always three parts to the homework but for two of the parts he would literally take you through step by step how to complete it. The other part was questions from the textbook. Exams were easy. Had a project as my final in excel, I'd say that was the hardest thing he gave
Course was insanely difficult in general, but I had to take it. Most work is through MyLab Math which sucks in itself, but Salvadon was available to look back and alter grades if you asked. Written and online HW for each unit, 3 exams, and a midterm project were decent. Downside was that he never really taught, just posted videos from other people
Professor Salvadon makes a challenging course manageable. With detailed lecture videos, generous exam policies, and tools like unstuck ai to aid study prep, even non-math people can thrive in this class. Attendance is a must, but it pays off with clear explanations.
I thought that he was an okay professor. I have taken calculus before so I did well, but if I hadn't, I think I would have struggled quite a bit. He stays on some topics way too long, and others too little. However, if you do the study guides that he gives you multiple times, the tests are the exact same content with different numbers. Not too bad.
Seemed like a really cool guy in person, but online is a different story. Rude, would answer emails days later, didn't make his own lectures, and if you needed help he'd just tell you to Google it, which didn't help and gave me the wrong answer half the time. Class is difficult in it's own right, but he's not the right guy for this course.
I love the fact he gave us more times than needed to complete the assignments in his online classes. He gave us 3 weeks to complete two homework problems, a month for his computer project & all semesters to take 3 exams whenever you want. I took two courses with him. I had no pressures at all to pass his courses.
He is an OK professor but sometimes talks too much out of class thing. He does not follow the textbook which made me feel confused. The exam was good because he gave exactly the same as the practice test. He will not reply to your email if you are not taking his class. I asked him for syllabus for transfer, but he NEVER replies.
I've had this professor online many times and each time is the same. Not many assignments, more than enough time to complete them. 5-6 homework assignments, 2 exams, 1 project. He's pretty forgiving with the grading. You really don't learn anything, but you'll do fine if you complete your work earlier than the rest of the class.
Great professor. Easy to pass. Grade assignments fairly. No need to be good in math. You just need to be serious about the course, and you'll pass. I love his applied-math related project that connect the real world to the current classroom topics. You'll get extra time to complete the course assignments & exams. No pressure at all in this course
To succeed in this course, you must be prepared to navigate a high pressure environment with minimal instructor support. You will need to rely heavily on tutors, his work is so complicated and DOES NOT REPLY TO EMAILS!
