Very professional professor. Brought in interesting guest lecturers. There is a lot of reading to do, but it's manageable.

Not a teacher type of guy. He is a business man not a teacher, he never goes over the readings and makes you take 6-7 chapter tests that you teach to yourself. When you go for help he will not help you
Horrible teacher, must memorize 600 vocab words through 6 chapters for one test. Drop the class if you get it. Hes a good guy outside of class but hes just not a good teacher.
Shoot yourself with a rifle if you get this teacher.
Do not take this teacher. First of all his tests are impossible and he does not teach well. He is too much of a business man and not a teacher. Although he is a good guy outside the classroom he is an extremely hard grader.
Very hard teacher. You have to study a s*** load for his tests, and he puts the business teams together based on what you got for the first test. If you get him, God be with you.
talks about himself, doesnt cover material in class, gives a short amount of time to cover a lot of new information, makes students feel overwhelmed.
I'm currently taking his class right now and i have to say it's close to impossible to get the grade you're looking for if you have something else to do rather than studying for business literally 5-6 hours a day.
This guy knows his stuff but gives no helpful information in class for tests. He just goes through exercises and videos that wont help at all to get a good grade. Do well on the business plan and you should be ok.
Nice guy out of class, but he doesnt do anything that really helps you learn the material. You have to learn everything on your own. If you get him, drop the class immediately. Seriously, dont suffer through one day of his torture.
He is ridiculous even for this idiotic class!!! It's impossible to pass this damn class. Talks about himself..tells you that you can do it but still fails you...says he is there to help you but doesn't care about what you have to say
i am currently in bus 101 and the class makes me miserable.2 chapters a weeks with a quiz and no explanation on the material.Whatever you do for the case study is not enough.Im studying right now for the 1st test,250 voacb words.. no B.plan explnations

Had him last semester. It was the hardest class. Tests were extremely hard and the workload is overwhelming. Got a B- for a business plan that is 60 pages long. Picky grader! Every page has negative comments. HE NEEDS TO TEACH!!

This Class Is Bad News... be ready to read 60+ text pages a week, a weekly quiz, a weekly debate and case study, on top of personal case study paper 5 pages and a 60 page business plan

This guy is Mr Business. He knows his stuff and has plenty of cool stories to tell. You must read every page of the book to do well. You don't learn anything in class. To do well just read and make flash cards. Don't listen to everyone, hes not bad
Great teacher. Just do the stuff and you'll get an A. Its not easy, but it is definately interesting. Best class of the year!
This professor is a disgrace to Bryant. Pathetic.
Not a good intro into business. He is no help whatsoever. No matter how much you try to study there is so much information covered in each test. Stay away at all costs. He does not teach the material and there are many guest speakers be ready to sleep
ok, Shut up, he is prob the best teacher i have eve had. Period. I learned more then I ever thought I would. Work and talk to him and u will come out of his class a better person
Very Smart, just kinda tough

this is such a hard class. the class itself is a waste of time, you accomplish nothing, and you have a good 10hrs of hw all the time. he doesnt teach, so if you cant teach yourself dont take him. really nice guy tho
Tells lots of stories during the class, but never teaches the material during class, tests every other week on material.
Terrible teacher. Teaches the class like we are in grad school. Stay away if possible.

Just dont take him. Storyteller, never explains material. U'll be lucky if u survive his class. Tests are so not fair and he doesnt give u the proper help when u need it. Tells bad jokes. Please for your own sake just avoid his class at all costs!!!
Stop complaing, he wasnt that bad, i learned a lot, and hes a nice guy, gives extra consideration at the end of the term if you partcipate. But no he isnt Easy
Kill yourself before or after the 28 page syllabus, your choice
I am apart of SAA and this guy was involved as well. Hes my only friend in the world. We talk about Family Guy and golf. In class, i studied so much but did so well
Too much work for one class...graduate level. You have a semester long project that the professor doesn't even help you with. You have to do a lot of outside work for this one class. Don't do it!!!
This is the one teacher who is really not worth taking. He assigns papers and out of class work for a semester long group project religiously, and then doesnt give most of them back because he never got around to correcting them. Control Freak. I know more about OB then this guy does.
He assigns several papers and never passes them back. Then when you ask him if he has graded them he comes up with some lame a** excuse as to why he hasn't. He loves to talk about himself during class. I would not take him again, he expects too much work, he thinks we are graduate students.
crazy man and alot of work. but knows his stuff and teaches well.
Hard Prof, leanred a ton! Great Man also, knows his stuff
He made me feel extemely uncomfortable and I had to change my seat. Do not take him.
I'm a junior and Segovis was the hardest. He demands ALOT out of his students. Finals and exams were extremely difficult. He knows his stuff, but going to classes is irrelevant because he doesnt lecture.
Hard class, a lot of work, but you will learn a TON and he knows his material.
Takes this class very serious and expects that you will too.Stay on top of assignments and you'll learn a lot. You will working in groups all semester long and group members feedback pretty much determains youre final grade.Do your work, cover your *ss, and youll be alright. He gives A's but you'll have to work hard for it.
Excellent!
Very demanding, but fair. Keep up with assignments and really show you want to learn and you'll get the A.
this man in the worst....I mean he never hands anything back that he assigns....so you never really know how u are doing...I would DEF NOT recommend him and he takes this subject way too seriously...he must realize that most of the class is only there because it is a REQUIREMENT not because they choose to be there......

Really Good and really hard. One of the best profs I have ever had. Great guy. But get ready to work. Very demanding. Sounds like a stupid response, but you'll get a ton and learn a lot out of this class and with him
if you want to learn take him, hes not easy on you but i toook his class just because i knew he'd make me learn.
do the work, can't get lower than a B. Best prof the school has by far. The material covered in his 2 400 level courses will help you in whatever you do in life. About three hours of reading a week and 4 hours of studying for 3 tests. Had him for night class twice and it was cake. Must show up to class prepared. Must take him at least once.
Best Professor at Bryant. He requires you to do a lot of group work, but you get so much out of the class. If you're a management major and really want to learn what you'll be doing for the next 20 years....I highly recommend taking this course with him.
Great prof - you'll learn a lot in this class. He focuses on the students more than the materal so classes are actually interesting, just lot of work outside the class. Worth it though, take him.
I am not sure what the hype is about "you learn so much from this guy".This class has a workload of 2 classes. Segovis has admitted that if you have time management issues i.e. a job, drop his class. The REAL world does not work like he teaches, the stuff in the book is bogus. People in the real world have no clue about these concepts.Avoid Segovis.
This guys real tough. You have 2 minute drills which is he picks "randomly" a student to give a 2 minute speech in front of the class about any question he desires. They suck, and you have no time to prepare. He grades really hard, his tests are amazingly long and hard. If you're lookin for a challenege take him, but I wouldnt recommend him.
He is a really tough grader but you learn a ton in his class. Also if you do take him do all extra credit assignments and become a manager it helps alot. Other than that he's a nice guy but it is a ton of studying and not something to be taken lightly, If you're a managment major take him and get used to him, if not look elswhere.
He demands a lot of work out of you but he's very fair and helpful, and you learn a lot in the class.
The class itself is fun, interesting, and very well taught. Segovis really knows his stuff, and if you are a very dedicated student, you will absolutely love his class. Unfortunately, he assigns far too much work for a 200 level, introductory class, which makes people hate the class and discourages people from taking an otherwise awesome teacher.
ummm he is a very good teacher. if you want to learn something def take him BUT it is a LOT of WORK alot of reading participation is great with him very helpful if needed he wants every one to do well
Ridiculous syllabus. The guy treats it as if its the bible too...seriously i think hes a priest or something. This class will be your life if you take it, I don't know if he realizes that students usually take more than one class. good guy though, just a tough teacher
If you've ever wondered how hard you can work in one three credit 200 level class without going crazy and failing your other classes this is the guy for you! With him you'll come extremely close to both
His class is very demanding. I STRONGLY recommend becoming a manager. Its a little extra work, but definitely worth it. Keep up on the readings, and be prepared to spend hours studying for exams in order to do well. Many opportunities for bonus points - be sure to take them all. Overall good teacher, but more rewarding if your a manager. I would take him again.
This class is actually easy i didnt do to well because i tried being creative in my writing. Give him what he wants. Overall, he is a terrible teacher and you will learn nothing. He will say "on that" about 150 times per class. FYI he has the largest armadillo collection in the notheast... that should tell you all you need to knwo about him.
Very nice guy. It was a pretty interesting class.
This was the most demanding class i've taken at bryant. The class was really interesting and mostly discussion based. The outside work and projects will keep you swamped but you'll learn a ton.
If you take this course with him, become a manager, no question. Although you meet with him weekly with the other managers and are held responsible for everything your group accomplishes (or doesn't), it is definitely worth it.He is a tough teacher but he is a great guy and is fairly reasonable. I recommend this course for management fanatics.
Ok well he is a lot of work so if you don't want that don't take him. On the other hand, one of the best teachers I've had at Bryant. Enough said.
One of the best profs at Bryant. He makes you learn the material so if you plan on slacking don't take him. Highly recommended if you are looking for a class that you will actually learn something.
Yes, there is a lot of work in this class, but he is sincerely a nice guy. It is in fact possible to get a good grade in this class despite what you may read. Classes are discussion-based, so have something interesting to say. Attend every class (if you do you get bonus points added to your grade). I recommend him to those who are willing to work.
great professor!
He is a nice guy and you will learn a lot in theis course. You will also have no spare time and will have to work really hard.
This class is definitely challenging. Procrastination is suicide, so stay on top of the readings. Classes are almost entirely discussion based, and he knows when you haven't read the material, so make sure you have something to say. He is a very nice guy, has office hours almost everyday, and practically begs students to go.
Jim is a very fair and dedicated Prof. He has mandatory attendance but you will get used to it. You will certainly learn a lot in his class. He is passionate about the subject and very intelligent. Easy guy to get along with, as long as you aren't an idiot. Lot of work, but now that the semester is over, it was worth it. Great Professor! D. Landry
Avoid him if at all possible. Not a fair grader at all, requires you to go to a million pointless presentations that no other classes have to go to. Really hard grader. You can work your but off in this class and you won't get an A.
Didn't get along with him but still got an A. You will have to do work to do well- I never had any interest in management but left knowing quite a bit. I would definitely recommend him if you are a management major- you really do learn a great deal about how to manage people especially if you are the team manager.
nice guy, but extremely hard grader.
Jim is a great professor who will make you work hard to get an A, but it is possible. I strongly recommend becoming a manager and to get to know him because he can only help. I enjoyed his class every time I went to it.
Jim is a good guy, but don't expect an A. He is all about timeliness and handing in deliverable's on time yet I still haven't gotten my midterm paper back, which I handed in over 2 months ago! Assigns more work than he can actually grade.
I will never take him again for any class.
He is a rediculous professor. He expects way too much time to be put in for his class. Very smart guy, but all he does is talk about himself. His grading is arbitrary. Make sure you get on his good side.
I loved Segov's class. I know a lot of people flame him, but it's because he's not an easy A. I worked so hard in that class and learned so much. I may not have gotten an A, but was a FANTASTIC class. I'd say take him, but be ready to work. :)
Segovis is a GREAT GUY! Certainly his class is not an easy A. He pushes students to do a great deal of work. He is a bit more laid back since I had him soph year. During the semester all the work can suck, but was well worth it looking back. I'm GLAD that I took him twice during my time at Bryant. Take him and plan to work and you will be fine!
Prof. Segovis is a very knowledgable person in his respective field. The class was fun, lots of group work and he definitely makes you think. Weekly quizzes/tests, but not hard if you know your stuff. Group project leaves you feeling accomplished. Strongly recommend him! If you get a chance to be in his class don't pass it up.
Never replies to e-mail. Pompous. Grades at a glacial pace so you have no idea how you're doing.
hes a pretty cool guy and if you need help hes available. he relies alot on book and case study material, alot of reading but so is every class
This man thinks 10/2=4...His grammar is awful, he can not spell, and said that in one instance we will be "graded on the following 3 criteria" and proceeded to write down 4 things...Learnsmart is an absolute joke and you will learn to hate it. Mgmnt is simply common sense made complex by terms and definitions...He has a PHD? Hahahahahahahahahahaha
Large workload, but Leadership class is worth it
large workload but you get a lot out of the class. seems intimidating at first but you get used to what he expects and it's not bad at all
Irritating. Thinks that he is way more intelligent than he is, cannot make a clear presentation for the life of him. The workload is entirely unreal..this course should be 4 credits at least. Must be prepared because he will call you out in front of everyone.Very rude. He expects way too much.
This guy definitely wants to see his students fail and will fail a senior without remorse. He thinks he is smarter than everyone in the world and doesn't care about his students at all. Loves to make threats to his students about failing and I am not saying this because I failed, I got a B+. Will keep you up to a half hour late. DOUCHE
I wouldn't recommend Jim to other people by and large. The class is not overly difficult but there is a lot of work. I can't stress that enough. That being said if you do take him you will get a lot out of the class.
Everything they say about the workload is true - he expects 5 hours of preparation per hour of class time...15 hours per week outside of class. If you put in the time, you will do well and learn a ton. Take-home exams are absolutely brutal to prepare. Nice guy, interesting books, cares about his students. Best course in the MBA program.
Jim Segovis is my personal hero. I had a great time in his class, and enjoyed his love of armadillos. He is quirky, but friendly. He motivated me to work very hard. I would take anther one of his classes any time.
Jim Segovis seemed intimidating at the boot camp weekend, but he is one of the best professors at Bryant and teaches some of the most valuable classes. He does expect a lot of you, especially if you're a grad student, but the time and effort are worth it. If you do what he expects, he'll give you the grade you deserve. Highly recommended.
Useless professor. Expects way too much from a 200 level intro class that is part of the business core. He clearly plays favorites so if you do take him get on his good side, but I would avoid taking him if at all possible.
AVOID! Segovis is a nice, enthusiastic guy who will teach you a lot, but will NOT give you the A. EXTREMELY narrow minded and would tell us we were wrong even when we read him the answer from the book. WAY too much work for a 200 class - it's overwhelming. Tests are hard and expects too much from everyone. attendance is mandatory. DO NOT TAKE
Segovis is a great management professor. He is extremely passionate about that material and is genuinely interested in his students. What you put into the class is what you will get out of it. The project can be as in depth as you want and it is not impossible to get an A if you work diligently throughout the semester. Can't wait to take him again.
He is one of my favorite professors, he is a very intelligent man. He has so much experience and has great passion for teaching. TAKE HIM
I agree that he is a very intelligent man, and you will learn a great deal if you apply yourself. HOWEVER I strongly recommend taking somebody else for the MGT 200 course, as his expectations are rediculous. He is also at times rude and condescending towards his students. Would consider taking for the upper level courses.
The single worst professor I have ever had in my entire college career. Pompous, self-important, unorganized, and a lack of lecture direction. Gives a highly-detailed syllabus at the beginning of the semester and fails to follow it. Sets standards which he himself does not follow. Handwriting is impossible to read. Favors the girls in the class. F
Thankfully I will be done with this class soon. The project is pointless and takes up a huge amount of time. I don't think he appreciates how hard we work on this. He has a massive ego as well and clearly thinks too highly of himself. Makes management overly difficult when in reality it's common sense. Just save yourself the trouble and avoid him.
For someone so intelligent, the guy can barely get a full sentence out without mixing up his words. Very time consuming class, makes it a lot harder than it has to be. Arrogant is the best way to describe him. Project is a breeze, never checks up on it whatsoever, make sure you have a good looking girl as your manager and you'll do fine
Simple fact. If you are a female, you will get a good grade. If you are a male, you will bust your ass and get a poor grade.
One of the most intelligent and wise professors teaching leadership. Just when you think you have him figured out, he'll dig deeper to give you a truly wonderful and enlightening learning experience. While challenging, the reward is great in terms of knowledge and future potential. A must have professor that you'll regret missing.
Jimmmy Segovs is the best. He is by far one of the chillest teachers ever. His tests are hard and you have to do work but oh well its college. He makes class fun and talks about drinking all the time. If you want to learn and are gonna try and still want to have fun in the mean time, take Segovis.
Not the worst professor out there, but I hate his class. He is somewhat annoying also (especially at 9 AM). Attendance is mandatory, project is worthless and a huge waste of time. Sometimes lectures are informative though. I was somewhat interested in management before this class but will make an effort to avoid it now.
Awesome professor. I had him for a negotiations course. Disregard that claims he has any gender bias. He is tough and you will do a lot of reading. If you don't give him any crap and work hard you'll learn a lot. I can't speak for any of the other courses but the negotiations course was done well and has some serious real world application.
Segovis is the best!
No gender bias noted. Hard, Hard work. Lots of reading (expect 3-4 hrs prior to each class), Hard projects and 3 classes worth of time dedication. Otherwise, quite rewarding, fair grading and dynamic classes with ingenious methods that keep students awake.
Segovis is an amazing professor who will truly care about your success. Do the readings, tie in the readings to your work, participate and you will do well. Yes it is hard but this is college and you're here to LEARN! For seniors, he took us all out to Rentes at the end of the year! He's really a good guy and will work with you if you talk to him.
Segovis is one of those professors who you can't stand at times while you're going through the process, but ultimately you realize that he's an extremely intelligent guy and you are learning so much. a great professor and ultimate professional. Do your work, reading, and PARTICIPATE and you will do fine.
Get to know this professor. He knows more about this topic than many other management professors and has a lot to offer to the field and to your general knowledge. It's a tough class, but if you put in the work, the rewards are worth it. Do the work, prepare for the class and PARTICIPATE, and you'll be fine.
Good professor but tough
He is a dry lecturer but you do learn quite a bit. Expect to read a lot and do lots of concept maps. Lots of busy work that doesnt really seem necessary.
Great Professor.
If you are a woman, have an extremely high GPA or in the honors program you should be fine. Those of you with a 2.0-3.4 beware because taking this class will not help your GPA. I have completed 50-60 papers in my college career and all have been above 85 with most above 88. Extremely random grader and I never once received anything close to an A-.
Professor Segovis has an arbitrary grading system. He gives you loads of work in the name of rigor but doesn't even care to grade them, he actually grades assignments three weeks after the semester ends. He is extremely intimidating and authoritative. He is nothing but an unscrupulous, unaccommodating and uncouth professor at the University.
Individual work accounts for only 10 % of grade, yet he gives about 10 memos to write (which he never grades on time). 1 memo 1 pt on the total. He emphasizes too much on team work, but don't take your problems to him, claims to be approachable but isn't. Poor conflict resolution skills, makes more trouble for you for having approached him B-
His teaching styles aren't the best, but I really liked his negotiation class. Very tough grader. Some of us are still wondering why we got a bad grade. Makes you read a lot. Too many memos. Be prepared to slog if you plan to take his class. I don't think we had a great experience as such with this class. Very stressful.

If you actually want to learn-amazing professor! Definitely a hard class and a lot of work but completely worth it. Love Segovis and would take him again in a heartbeat. Hard to get above a B though
Segovis is very knowledgeable and you can learn a lot from him, but he is a tough professor. He can be boring at times but pay attention in class if you want to do well.
Segovis cares about his students learning and is available to be reached outside the class almost always. That being said MGT200 is supposed to be run exactly the same across all sections and Segovis pretty much does whatever he wants. Very persistent.
Just stay on top of your weekly work/readings
Number 1 issue was grading. Professor waited until the end of the term to submit most grades of assignments which were completed early in the semester. He speaks to accountability but does not practice it himself. He is egotistical and clearly misogynistic and his class content would benefit from a different professor.
