If you are interested in quality, Dr. Semones is the man. He is an expert in his field, and you will not find a more interesting person. You will have to work hard to meet his high expectations, but you'll be all the better for it.

He's a really great professor who knows his stuff. His way of explaining the material and his examples are what helped me passed his class.

Hard hard teacher. Very fun and interesting though. Don't expect to pass his class unless you are willing to work harder than you have ever worked before. Even though he was tough, I would take him again.

He is a really good professor and his classes are generally pretty easy if you are willing to study. He relates his lectures to everday situations and is very helpful. I recommend taking his class even if you dont need it just for the knowledge you gain.

I've taken Sociology 1301, Human sexuality and his marriage and the family class. All three classes were awesome. He's traveled a lot so he knows what he's talking about, when he speaks of other countries. He's an awesome prof and all around nice guy.

I liked Dr. Semones. He provides alot of helpful packets and added information on the course. He does expect you to pull your own weight though. He realized we aren't children--which is a good thing-- and he doesn prepare you for courses at the university level. I plan on taking another one of his courses.

He's awesome! Very interesting and he knows his stuff! The classes are simple to pass as long as you show up, take good notes, and study! If you're looking for a free ride, you shouldn't take Semones!

his class was interesting as hell but i made a D cause sociology wasn't my thing.

This is a wonderful professor. He's very knowledgeable and he knows his stuff. However, if you don't study you most likely won't pass. He also doesn't accept late work and trust me, he is serious when he says it. If you are not committed to studying for test, I don't recommend you take Dr. Semones (cause he don't play!)

cool teacher and has some interesting stories, BUT he thinks he is supreme and jacks his jaws about his books too much. it got on my nerves how he thought he was some kind of bad ass writer.

He is a very knowledgeable teacher, but he is extremely arrogant. He can be hard to deal with at times because there is no flexibility in his classes, but if you show up, take notes & study...it's an easy 'B'. Just don't be late & or miss class. He would be a great teacher if he would just cut his ego in half.

I took this professor online. His tests were fairly simple and he gives you all of the tools necessary to pass the tests. If you study his handouts and the book, you will do fine.

He was a great proffessor. I Got a C because i did not turn in my research paper, but i got an A on all the tests...

very knowledgeable!!! it's not an easy grade but it is an interesting class and you will learn alot from him. a bit hard because you have two study his book and the text... but just study the notes and you'll do good. he also does give an outline... so fill that in during lecture and definately study those notes!

Just completed this course; Dr. Semones is one of the BEST professors I've ever had. If you read the chapters in the text, study his notes from class, and read the survival readings, there is no reason you can't ace out the course. The material is interesting if you like society and people. He gives you opportunities for extra credit - DO THEM!!

I took his Human Sexuality and Marriage and Family Life classes as my electives.I was majoring in Business, but switched my major after these classes. I think Semones is cool and yes at times likes to pop his own collar, but hey, why not? Hell, I would be proud of my book too if I wrote one. And if you wrote a book, you would tell others too.

Great class to take on a summer mini. Gives great tips to improve on studying for tests. Gives concise examples on lectures. Read the Survival Reading! MUST COME TO CLASS TO PASS! Do the extra credit! Ask him on the next trip he will take students to France or England in 2009. You can make an A.

I very much enjoyed Prof. Semones class. I plan on taking the other classes he teaches. For those complaining about him these are probably the reasons: he doesn't play games, it is not a free ride, they themselves are lazy, or just plain jealousy. My goal is to work hard and become as accomplished as he is. I recommend him to EVERYONE!!

I took Dr. Semones' class as the first class I took as a college student. I took another of his classes a few years later. Every other professor was a let down. If you show up to class on time and pay attention, you will get an A, and might not even crack open your text book. Because of Dr. Semones, I am studying to be a Sociology Professor.

Didn't show up for required virtual class and didn't give credit if did-had to re-do. LOTS of paperwork. Interesting class content and clear tests - he wrote the text book and uses it to the letter. No room for error and doesn't respond to emails. I'd take him again but be ready to do lots of work - if you pay attention, you'll get a good grade.

Attendance is a big thing to him and the first week or two is boring but once your past it, your in for a great adventure. This guy knows his stuff and he is extremely nice, the class isnt hard to pass if you pay attention, do your study guides and just study a little.

Professor Semones is awesome. He verbally lectures while students fill out an outline he prepared. You MUST attend class! He does follow the book very closely, but throws in some personal examples that may appear on the test. He does not give a review but gives hints during lectures for test questions. Hands down, my favorite teacher of all time. You must attend class and you must do the paper work, but it's all very easy and basic. He is extremely helpful and very kind, and he'll even help you with your personal issues! I had trouble deciding on what college to transfer to and he aided me more than the councilors. Highly recommend!

Dr. Semones makes learning sociology interesting and fun, i will take more sociology courses because of his approach to introducing it. he is a sociologist who has a lecture on study skills that was extremely helpful if you want to succeed and make above average grades in college level courses.

Dr. Semones is very helpful. great lectures. provides chances for extra credit if you have nearly perfect attendance. lets u use notes for final exam. test are online and not easy at all. but i passed with a B! its hard work just for that B. not easy. but willing to help if you help your self.

This is not a Easy A class. You will have to put a lot of time and effort into the class. Tests are all timed and so are exams... 30 minute quizzes with 25 questions and 1 hour and 5 minutes for a 60 question test ... it's merely impossible to finish a test and let alone review your answers ....

Not an Easy A as a matter of fact he post on Blackboard most of his students get C's but at least you will learn something. Test are timed and really hard and so are the quizzes, each question you get about a minute to work on it, so you either know it or you don't. Not easy at all.

Semones tests are online which i despice! Textbook is mandatory,since you have study guides to complete d=straight from the book. if you complete the guides the test should be an easy B maybe an A. A lot of Extra credit but attendance is mandatory. Overall, teaching method is great!

He is an amazing teacher! He wrote the text book so he really knows what he is talking about. He always makes the lectures interesting. He lets you use the study guides on your tests. He makes you really think and he also helps you learn how to think. This is a great class for incoming freshmen, he teaches you how to be a college student.

Funny, insightful prof. 4 tests and a workbook only. Extra credit given. You will get an A if you read and memorize the key terms in the book (there's a lot of them, though) Talk to him and he will help you; he has no patience for laziness, and may make an example out of you in class. Lots of in-class participation. Strict with seatingattendance.

Intro to Sociology online is easy as long as you read the chapters and DO THE STUDY GUIDES! He gives a quiz (and exams) on Fridays and gives you until Sunday night to complete them. Very manageable class.

For this class you really need to read the chapters ahead and study for the tests. Going to class is mandatory because that would help you to pass the exams. Do everything you need to do and you will pass the class with at least a B. Participation is necessary because he is always asking you question but that helps you to remember the chapters.

Dr. Semones is very intelligent, does not tolerate slacking off and will always be willing to work with you as long as you put in effort as well. His lectures are super interesting, and you take 4 online tests where you use a review with the answers. He is generous and a sweetheart. Attendance is important bc he gives you a grade on it.

If you miss his class more than a few times, good luck with passing.

Well I wouldn't lie to you !! .. be pre paired to read and maybe even struggle the first test if you don't like to read! This class is an challenge by far .. but this teacher is very straight forward and will work with you if you have any problems HE WILL HELP !.. If your welling to help yourself and he doesn't gives grade, you earn them.

Dr. Semones is the best lecturer I have had the pleasure of interacting with. His grading criteria is crystal-clear. Dr. Semones takes material that would be difficult to understand and illustrates it in a manner that people of all ages can relate to and comprehend. You HAVE to purchase the text book and complete study guides. Would take again.

Dr. Semones is the bomb. Only professor I've ever had that truly cared about me as a person and student. I love sociology and he made me love it even more. Gives a lot of bonus point chances and extra credit. Wants to see you succeed! Tests are open note. No paper assigned.

Awesome professor. Very intelligent! One of the best professors Ive had he is filled with so much knowledge and he brings joy to the class. I took his class more than 20 years ago and I still use the study skills that I learned from Dr Semones and still have great memories of this class. If you want to take sociology from the best- he is the one!

I had Dr. Semones' 15 years ago and I would gladly take his class again. I was 3 points from an A and he would not let me do anything to reach my target but I learned so much from that experience. I have never allowed myself to give up and I've tried to pass that lesson on to the students that I now teach. His class is well worth taking.

I found him as I was sitting in the hall waiting for next class and his lectures are over the top amazing. People would sign up after hearing just one. He did start shutting the door though as he did not want disruption by late comers so be on time or you better find someone with good notes. I took his first advanced offering; so worth it.
