Dr. Sinner is awesome. I would recommend him to anyone. However, if you ain't book-smart, don't try taking any classes he teaches because it's hard stuff!
Dr. Sinner is a great teacher. He works some goofy stuff into his lectures without diverting from the topic, and that's definitely helpful in relieving some of the stress there is in anatomy and physiology. The material is challenging, but he's always willing to help and is very fair with all of his students. I would definitely recommend him.

Dr. Sinner made the class interesting and easier to understand. However, do not expect to get good grades if you don't put in the effort. You definitely need to study for this class but he's always there to help when needed. It's obvious he cares if his students get good grades or not. I would recommend him to anyone interested in this class.
study study study hard
Sinner was somewhat helpful. Sometimes he was unable to answer questions. He was also unclear on how some of our tests would be presented. He worked off of other teacher's material instead of creating his own. Most of the time he just read from the power point slides and didn't bother to give any extra information.
didnt like how you never knew what would be on the exams...and if we ask he wont even tell you!!! such as labeling certain pics. or essay questions....and you have to come prepared every lecture for a 10pt. quiz!!! have fun :-)
Dr. Sinner is an excellent instructor. His knowledge on the subject matter in human anatomy & physiology combined with clinical experience translates into an excellent teaching style. BIO 202 is extensive & difficult to retain; he presents the course in a manner that is digestable & emphasizes understanding systems in overall clinical picture.
teacher knows his material.
He is extremely helpful so if you have any questions ASK!!! Great sense of humor. Offers extra credit points on quizes etc.
Dr. Sinner was an amazing professor. He very helpful you just have to ask for it. His tests were fair just make sure to read them carefully. As long as you have determination and dedication to truly know the material there's no reason you shouldn't do fine. Don't go in expecting to be handed anything YOU have to work for it. HIGHLY recommend
This is a great teacher. He is clear with the info and narrows it down to what you really need to know. There is no book,he uses note packets with grouped info for each section you study. It is a lot of information, and you must attend class everyday,as well as study outside of class almost everyday,if you want an A.Tests are hard,be prepared.
He is very helpful and knows his stuff. I deffinately recommend taking him. His note packets get down to the point and he teaches you what you need to know.
Easy to understand and made the class fun. Gave extra credit and was easy to approach with any questions.
Great professor! Very clear about what to study. Kept things lighthearted by his corny jokes. He was funny and HOT! He truly cared that his students understood what they were there to learn. I would recommend him to anyone.
took this as a summer class. LOTS of info but made it easy to understand and incorporated some fun extra credit games into the class. go to class and pay attention and you should do fine
Dr. Sinner is a good instructor. He keeps the class alive with his jokes. You must be ready to take a 10pt. quiz every class. There are really no other assignments that make up your grade except quizzes and exams. He doesn't do much explanation other than what's on the powerpoint he uses.
This is a very challenging but rewarding course. Sinner makes it easy to understand and comprehend the intense material. I would take all of his classes that he has offered because he makes the class worthwhile!!! I loved it!
This professor was unclear of what he wanted from his students. You can tell he really doesn't have an interest in the success of his students. He reads straight from powerpoint and becomes irritated when asked questions. His tests were based on material that were not focused on during class. Over all he did not teach the material he just presented
Sinner has a carefree attitude that rubs off on his students. As others said he does not care if you pass or fail, it's on you. He definitely does not show interest like other professor's show, which makes an already difficult class more difficult. The reading from the powerpoint is terrible. Do not expect any other helpful tips.
mmmmm this teacher knows he naterial is hard and just doesnt care if you fail or pass, he is extremely hard everyone i talked to dropped the class, i would of never taken him if i know, the practicles on the cadaver is not clear at all seems like he wants you to fail !!!!
This class has a load of information so its rather fast paced but thats expected. He gives you a note packet the follows the powerpoint which is nice. He answers every question, we have a student that asks a ton of questions and he takes them all in stride. He slants the info to the clinical side of things. Love him/class but be prepared to work!
This class covers a lot of material in a short amount of time. In order to keep up you must study daily. Dr. Sinner is very helpful if you ask him for the help. The class is big, therefore if you do not ask for help it will be easy for him not to notice you are in need and its our responsibility as students to speak up.
Dr Sinner is genuinely dedicated to teaching & very resourceful. He draws real life parallels to help students understand the material. In spite of previous posts, I've never in all of my education had an instructor take so many ?s yet keep up w/ the pace of the class in such stride. I can't say enough good things about Dr. Sinner & the class:-
he is a very hard teacher! if you want to do nothing but study, study, study take him! his tests are never on what you learned in class... if you want to fail or drop out of bio 201 take him. NOT recommended at all!!!
This guy is a great teacher. Anatomy is a tough course no matter who your professor is but Sinner makes the course fun. He is very approachable and allows questions. If you have to take A&P, whether you take it with Sinner or some other professor, you need to ask questions and get answers. You will always get answers with Sinner.
I made sure I got Dr. Sinner for Bio 202 after my great experience with him in Bio 201. He makes the subject matter interesting and relevant, makes time for students during office hours, by phone, and by email. Anatomy & Physiology is tough, but Dr. Sinner's great sense of humor and knowledge will help you, as long as you put forth time and effort.
Boring, boring, boring; does not teach but only reads from slides. Brags about his wife writing his slides for him. Take on-line instead; unless you like being read to rather than taught.
I really enjoyed Dr. Sinner's class! He is easy going, funny, explains material clearly, answers questions and is available outside of class. He has high expectations for you but he works to help you achieve them and is very fair. The class is hard and requires lots of studying (it is 200 level class) but I highly recommend this fantastic teacher!
I took this course over 6 weeks during a summer a few yrs back. During that time I was highly frustrated & felt there should be a little bit more flexibility. I recently graduated from ASUs nursing program & have thanked Dr. Sinner since. His class was highly challenging & really prepared me for my program. Thank U Dr. Sinner :)
Took this back in '08 and never rated Dr. Sinner. I have since graduated with my BSN and I am really happy I had him! At the time I found the class to be quite difficult but since then I have been so much better off than most of my peers in the nursing program. I seemed to have had a better grasp of/and method for dealing with the material. Thank U
Dr. Sinners class was very challenging but if you have taken any anatomy class you know that any class you take you will need to study majorly. Dr. Sinner made this class very fun and actually made me want to come to class. I would highly recommend anyone to take this class if they want to learn in a fun environment.
Sinner is a great instructor who is very knowledgeable about anatomy. He is going to make you work, hard. But in the end you leave knowing a lot! Makes class interesting by telling jokes and funny stories too!
I took Sinner for both 201 and 202. This is a pretty hard class so lots of studying was required. His fill-in-the-blank note packets weren't my favorite, but I managed to make it work for me. If you are a hard working student willing to put in the effort, he will go out of his way to help you. Otherwise, you are on your own. I highly recommend him!
Worst teacher ever. RUN!!!!
Sinner is a good professor overall, but rigid and not lenient. Will give you hard time. His notes aren't always clear, I had to do my own research in order to understand the material. He would give our tests back for literally 5 min to look over what went wrong and we could never ask questions to learn from our mistakes. I could have learned more.
Have to study! Understand everything he says even those not included on the note packet. Lecture was at times difficult to grasp because of his way of teaching, he just stands and talks, no on-hands learning or anything, just pictures. Lab was much easier if you do your work and remember the parts you'll do fine.
If you study HARD, you will do well. Sinner is a riot! He makes going to class fun. Don't take too many classes with this one- it requires A LOT of study time. He records his lectures- listen to them carefully for anything you might have missed. He makes himself available for questions. I can't understand bad posts. I recommend him- he's AWESOME!
Take this class at a time in your life where you are willing to focus and apply yourself, and you will love the class and Dr. Sinner. If you are engaged during each class, and spend enough time with the material every damn day, you will find that Dr. Sinner is an outstanding mentor and goes above and beyond to support your education.
A&P is a detailed and complex subject, and requires your daily focus and effort. If you are engaged during each class and spend time working on the material daily, you will find fluency with the material and have more fun with it. Dr. Sinner goes above and beyond to support the education of serious students. Super responsive to discussion/inquiry.
Don't know Y students would complain about this teacher -.-'(I was hesitant). In reality, he is great! His teaching makes everything more easier to memorize! It's mainly from lazy students I bet. This is a college course; you can't get away with not studying.I highly recommend printing out the practice practicals in color & use them like flash-cards.
There is lots of material to cover, very interesting, and you will learn a lot. However, this professor could care less if you pass or not.
I'm the kind of person that isn't naturally smart so I automatically have to study 3 times as hard but this class makes you study 3 times as hard even if you are naturally smart..I just couldn't keep up. Sinner is a great teacher, he just doesn't want boneheads passing and being in hospitals. He has a good point. Great guy.
Great instructor! Had 201 with different instructor I thought was good but I learned so much more with Sinner. He expects you to apply yourself and these classes are not easy but he is funny, patient, answers questions and is hot as hell!! He says crazy stuff every so often to help hold your attention that is hilarious.
Sinner is a great LABteacher! Rarely used the map atlas guide;love his recordings of CT&Cross sections on canvas, I just watched them over&over. It's crazy that the department expects us to know over 100+ parts, and gives us a few seconds to each test station without letting us go back afterwards.All-in-all..Sinner is funny & I recommend him. :)
Dr. sinner deserves a "best edutainerner of the year" award. He is so dang funny! It really helps because his jokes bring your attention right back and you relax. It's very rewarding to do well in this class. Sometimes id be listening to videos at coffee shops and bust up laughing. Erudition required. Exposure + exposure + exposure =success
He is more thorough than most others; he does this so students are prepared for other classes. The amount of information is a little intimidating, but worth the extra studying. He is an excellent teacher and enjoys interacting with his students. He may seem cold at first but is a blast once you get to know him. Not for the easily offended.
Great teacher! This is the hardest class I have ever taken. Yes it's an overwhelming amount of material (I found myself crying some nights) but Sinner really prepares you for your career. You don't get study guides for any test, you have a quiz a week, and you take notes every lecture. You are forced to study. You receive the grade you earn.
I previously posted for this teacher (12/2010, very pleased that I took his course. Now that I am weeks away from graduating with my BSN, I must say that I have often reflected back to his class. Some of his analogies have stuck with me and helped me apply the knowledge to nursing. Likewise, the way he tests preps you for NCLEX style of testing.
There are 3 types of teachers in this universe. A 1st rate teacher who is very hard very intolerant of the mistakes of students, and he gives crushing blows on every step. A 2nd rate teacher who just reminds a person of his mistakes and a 3rd rate teacher who just pleases him. The harder the teacher is, the better one can learn.
Dr. Sinner is a great Lab instructor, but when it comes to lecture that is a different story. The power points need to be updated. Test were extremely difficult, tough to find the stuff he was testing us on in our lecture material. Re-words everything to make it more difficult. Would not recommend him.
He make you work. I resisted it initially but once I realized the class wasn't going to get any easier and I started asking questions and studying each night it really wasn't that hard. He always took the time to answer my questions. I learned a TON, which I honestly can't say for 201 (different instructor). Tough class but he made it cool.
Dr. Sinner seems like a cool person and can be funny. Except his lectures seem boring he needs to spice it up and his tests have absolutely nothing to do with his packet hand outs. He rewords everything which at times makes it impossible to pass this class. If you want to pass Bio 202 I recommend a different instructor.
Professor Sinner was a chiropractor who became a professor at Phoenix College. With all respect he really seems not to care if students pass or fail. Tests have nothing to do with power points and when one questions him he will cut them off. I would not recommend this teacher!
Highly recommend! Always had open dialogue with us, was always willing to meet with me and all the info for tests was in the notes (he does re-word things on tests but not a prob if you understand it). He is funny and I do think cares a lot. Truthfully lazy/immature/entitled students should go elsewhere. His tgh love/real world approach won't mesh.
Dr. Sinner knows his stuff. He is always helpful, wants students to learn. It is obvious that a few people will struggle but he refuses to pass those who can't grasp the material. Future nurses need to know this material. I don't blame him for being tough. I recommend you sit in the front row as he is also nice to look at.
I had Dr. S this past semester for 201. I loved him. He'not easy. I'm a CNA and several of our nurses had him. They told me how well he prepared them. Looking back, most think they were just being lazy and if they would have worked as hard in his class as they did in nursing school it would have been easy. I found out I got out what I put in.
Dr. Sinner is a great instructor, he's a very tough grader but I don't blame him we must know our stuff if we are getting into the medical field. I missed two quizzes and they really hurt my grade. I'm taking him for Bio 202 this time more prepared and will also make sure I don't make the same mistakes. I strongly recommend him! Funny as hell too
He is straight forward. His material is laid out in a note packet for each exam. During lectures you will listen and fill in the notes as he goes through them. Don't just memorize material actually understand it. He gives you the tools to do well, it is up to you if you want to put the work in.
He is pretty straight forward, he tells you from the beginning that his course is not just about memorizing. If you miss one lecture you will fall extremely behind a lot of material is covered every lecture. I was not a fan of his packets, he has you fill in the blanks and it makes it hard to concentrate because he continues to talk. He is OK.
I did well taking BIO 201 in the spring semester. I decided to take BIO 202 over the summer. Dr. Sinner has a terrible approach to his online classes. The only thing that counts towards your grade is 14 weekly quizzes. No homework, no discussion board posts. Memorizing the book isn't enough either. He expects a lot, I would NOT take his class again
WAY TOO MUCH MATERIAl!!! Is not specific as to what will be on tests. Very fast paced lectures, no extra credit on anything. Nothing on the tests is similar to the study packet . Miss 1 class and you're dead. Take this class with another instructor unless this is the only class you are taking!!!
Truest believe he likes when people get stuff wrong . Tests are the hardest Ive ever had and he grades them tough. Do not recommend
I feel like the material is not thorough enough and a lot of the stuff on the tests are not on the note packets. He gives off information during lectures that are not on the notes too. This class also doesn't help those with different learning styles such as visual learners. I HIGHLY recommend to take this class ALONE! to focus on it completely.
Prepares you for next level!!!
He is an okay teacher. Needs to work on his people skills.
He expcts you to learn material and doesn't give out freebies. A former stdnt came in who was finishing up her nursing degree. She raved about him and how he prepared her for the prgrm. Made me realize he isn't as hard as everyone else to this point had been to easy. I'm proud of how hard I've wrked, how mch I've learned and know I'm btter off now.
Take this class if you want to really learn anatomy and physiology. Had Sinner for 201 and 202. Loved his class so much in 201 I had to take him again! The class was probably one of the hardest Ive had but you get the grade you earn and it really prepares you. Expect the class to take up a lot of your time.
I took him for Bio 202 for lab. And it was amazing. The labs assignments was done in class and later on that week he gives the lab quizzes online with multiple attempts, you keep your highest score. The lab practical test on the cadavers is easy. Its all about memorization. Just practice them on canvas too or stay extra time after class :)
The book is a free online book which was nice but I wasn't crazy about it. The lecture videos at times were confusing and appeared to be done by someone other than him. The really nice thing was he was very responsive to get back to me when I had questions and he graded things quickly as well. He made me feel like I wasn't just on my own. RECOMMEND
Lots of videos! Videos, written assignment, and proctored quiz each week, plus lab exams and other assignments. Good professor, funny, answers questions, throws in some fun learning activities.
It's A LOT of material; hard to do well if you don't study. Complaints about pathologies: they're on the objectives sheet, always. In-person format, but his lectures are also posted online. I rewatched them at 2x's speed ahead of lecture to take initial notes, and again after lecture for review. Best professor for health professions students.
does not slow down, but tries to paint detailed descriptions about material.
If you want to learn anatomy and physiology, you will learn it here. It is a difficult class because it is a difficult subject. I did have to go to go tutoring and also watch many YouTube videos. He explains everything well but as mentioned it is a fast paced class. It was stressful & challenging but I def learned ALOT. Only failed one exam as ref.
Goes way too fast !
Challenging subject! 201 is challenging. He did well explaining the material. You can rewatch his lectures online. You MUST study everyday for this class. I went to tutoring once a week. You have to understand the material to do well on exams. Its challenging but very rewarding passing his class!
Out of the A&P instructors at Phoenix college, I feel that Dr. Sinner is the most capable of giving those who are entering the medical field a well rounded and applicable education on the course material. He is challenging! More challenging than my 202 professor, for sure. His lectures online SAVED my grade in the class. You will work HARD!
In this class, lectures are provided already by other professors. All Dr. Sinner had to do was properly organize the course. He failed, completely. Five weeks in, he rescheduled every assignment, including ones that already happened. Every student would have done better if he had been better organized. Will never take a class with him again.
Very unorganized. Lectures are not his own material and he rarely posts in the class. He grades extremely tough and expects a lot for someone who isn't teaching his own class. Doesn't explain why he took away points and responds slowly. Highly suggest to not take his course.
Either you like him or you don't depending on your learning style. I think that he prepares us to use our time wisely and to dive into a subject if we want to get the most out of it. The best approach is to pre-fill out his lecture packet before class, and then absorb the material in class. This allows you to ask questions to gain understanding.
this was the worst Professor that i have ever had he was careless about his students success and he was always late to lecture!!!
By far the worst online class I have taken. Very harsh on grading and does not give any feedback. When emailed or asked questions he takes forever to respond and gives a harsh/vague answer. Not caring at all. Exams and quizzes have so much information and the material provided does not help.
Worst instructor ever! Do not take this class with this instructor!!!
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS WITH THIS TEACHER, even if you think you have no other choice. Its not worth it. Seriously, dont.
If you want to teach yourself take this course because Dr. Sinner wont do it himself.
I wish I wouldve read the reviews. He is not good at responding takes a couple days. This is a very hard class. The lectures that are posted are not what is on the exams. Take it with someone else.
Whatever you do DO NOT take this class with him. Not caring. All he cares about and talks about is football. No feedback is given or the correct answers. Take this class with someone who cares about their students.
I was supposed to have meetings for this class but he switched it multiple times and I ended up missing a whole zoom because he never reached out. He isnt the kindest in his messages and does take for ever to respond. His excuse for not giving feedback on test and actually being a teacher was Covid.
He is not caring. If you message him he makes you feel like you are bothering him.
This class is not easy. Dr. Sinner will work with you just message him. Study!
If you want to teach yourself this tough material go ahead you need to work hard because the class is difficult and Mr. Sinner does not work with you. The lectures arent his and barely cover half of whats on the tests so expect to have questions never talked about on the lecture. Then when you tell him his excuse is sorry I didnt make the test
Not my favorite Professor. Robotically strict with very little room for error. He's by the book with rules so don't expect much give from him. Will respond to emails but not always in a timely manner. Just stay on top of the work, videos and studying! Literally just listen to the videos until you know them by heart, you should be fine.
My time with Sinner was brief as his teaching style was not to my liking.
He loves it when students are struggling. He is thrilled when his course is described as hard by students. He displays narcissistic behaviors when fronted with criticism. He will go over the lecture only once, he will explain something only once, if you didn't get it the first time than it's your fault. don't expect him to explain in simple terms
Bio202 is a very difficult class and Prof. Sinner will make it even harder for you. I had to drop his class because I wasn't learning anything, he doesn't teach at all, if you don't have questions that's it, end of class. You do all the learning by yourself. He tells you to drop the class repeatedly instead of encourage you to do better. Awful!
Ok I gotta say I just took the class and passed it by myself got B+ not because the teacher no it's because I had prior knowledge of the human body so just letting you know if you have zero knowledge of the human body you will struggle. The teacher doesn't do anything he just doesn't care. I really liked when I took BIO 201 with Jason he cared.
I would not recommend this professor to students, he is tough, and he doesn't teach, he will have lectures of somebody else on canvas, and he didn't even do his test, and you can't ask a question because you don't know what's on the test.
I would steer clear of taking this class with James Sinner. He never taught not even once. I would take him as a teacher as my last resort. You won't get anywhere with him, and he never emails you back. I truly believe he doesn't care about the class nor students' success. I begged for help and never received it. Save yourself, go with someone else
Drop if you can.
All the negative comments on here are not dramatic but very true. He does not lecture and you have to teach yourself. He is more worried about you cheating and wants you to record your hands and screen the entire, time in that case just make us go in to test. Quizzes and test are given every week and is a very tough grader. I would NOT recommend!!
I had Professor James Sinner for a summer course, and it was a disappointing experience. He doesn't teach directly, relying on YouTube videos and PowerPoints made by other instructors. When asked for help, he often said it wasn't his material, which was frustrating. His lack of support and engagement made the course very challenging.
If you want a class that doesn't give you a ton of work then I would highly recommend. On the other hand you absolutely NEED to study! All of your grades are from quizzes and exams. He does give bonus questions on quizzes. He also answers any questions during lecture and lab. I would definitely recommend, but the course is difficult.
Professor Sinner's class was a tough one - he relies heavily on pre-recorded videos and expects a lot of independent learning. However, with the help of resources like unstuck AI, I was able to stay on top of the material and earn a decent grade.
Did not enjoy his class and he grades based on however he feels
Professor Sinner should not be allowed to teach period. He lacks many skills to be an affective professor. I wasn't allowed to even join his class due to his own rules rather then the correct deadlines placed my Phoenix college, never take his class he will waste your time and money.
Professor Sinner was the worst professor I have ever taken. He does not care whether you pass or fail and just stands and talks. There is no hands on learning and all he truly cares about is yapping about football. He doesn't grade on time and rarely responds to emails. If you can, avoid him otherwise you're wasting time and money on his course.
This professor is the reason I will end up with a villian arc. He does not care about you passing but instead talks soley about football. He doesn't elaborate on any material he is teaching or should i say material stolen from other professors. I will never take a course with him again. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY ON HIS COURSES.
One of the best teachers. Grades things on time so you have time to look over what questions you got wrong and work on them prior to the next class/ exam. It's an extremely big help when you can tell the professor puts in as much effort as their students.
this professor was the worst ive ever had. He doesnt teach and expects us to learn from a fill in the blank packet. He sucks at grading and steals lecture videos from other professors. He takes all of eternity to grade assignments and grades based on how he feels. I would rather sell my soul to satan or go to a diddy party than take him EVER AGAIN.
