I'm surprised there is only one rating! He is an awesome professor! He hates for students to look at the back of each other's heads, therefore we all sit in a circle. I'm taking him for summer and we had five novels to read, but that's it. They aren't that big!! The class is basically a novel discussion class with a few papers. He is extremely open

Great teacher!

I took him for 1101 and 1102! He is nice, helpful, and understanding. its a pretty easy A. It is mainly a reading/discussion class, but we did write a few papers and we had to do "reflections" over reading material (which are easy a's/ just do them!). Its ok to miss some days, just tell him why. I LOVED HIS CLASS AND DEFINITELY RECOMMEND IT!

Professor Sisson is wodnerful! He teaches quite well & is understandable, & he's willing to stay after class to answer questions or just chat with students. I took him for 1101 & 1102, & both classes are easily passable as long as you do the work. He's funny & makes class enjoyable, & he also made an effort to use cheap textbooks to help us out.

He truely cares about his students and wants everyone to excel in his class. He really likes participation so dont be shy. Requires everyone to turn in daily work but its easy as long as you read. Grades fairly on essays and papers which are far and few between. Class can be a bit boring but overall enjoyable. I would recommend him.

A genuine, kind person who is very intelligent and knows how to engage students in deep discussion. I learned a lot in his class. If you don't like to think and discuss literature, don't take him.

I have taken MANY professors throughout my life and I will say I have enjoyed Professor Sisson more than any other. He is a sincerely helpful person who is genuinely interested in his subject. Amazing teacher, he really gets you involved in class discussion. Not a hard grader. If you do every assignment and show up to class you're bound to make a good grade. One of the best teachers at MSC. hopeful ill get him for American lit.

BEST ENGLISH PROFESSOR AT MSC!!!!! All you do is read the novels he assigns ad write essays! Only about 4 essays all semester. Really easy class. He's so funny. Made my EIGHT AM class actually fun. I plan on taking him again soon!

Professor Sisson is an inspiring teacher and person. His classes are therapeutic and make everyone feel comfortable. His teaching style will help you explore your own new ideas and gain confidence in them. The work required is helpful and actually enjoyable. Mr Sisson is clear in class he does grade on class participation. He makes this clase where everyone no matter what age is interested. I had some wonderful discussions in class i will take his class again

Wore a kilt every day of the semester. 'Nuff said. But, the course is very laid back with little lecture. You can scrape by without reading much of the assigned texts, but then you're only cheating yourself. Grades are a few short papers and a group (if you choose) presentation. Super easy, but super fun and you can learn a lot.

As long as you read the assignment and make a remark or two every so often in class you will do fine! He does his class based on participation but he is super laid back. You have a presentation but most of the time he takes over and will HELP you with it will you are presenting! RECOMMEND HIM!!

I don't normally do this, but this Professor must be acknowledged. I took 4 English classes with Sisson. He is the reason why I became an English Major. I am now a Senior. Professor Sisson is like Robin Williams in "Dead Poets Society." He makes you read and participate. You get so much out of these experiences! TAKE THIS MAN AND BE AMAZED!!!!!!!!!

I hated English before I took his class. If you want to have any idea of how he is in class, then watch "Dead Poets Society." He is the Robin Williams equivalent.

Sisson was my first college English professor, and he was amazing. He's very funny, and he is extremely intelligent and helpful. He requires about seven books, but they're not expensive. I went out of my way to sign up for his 1102 class. I HIGHLY recommend taking him.

This guy is awesome. He is super funny and enjoys being a teacher. One time for cultural week we had class at a Mexican restaurant. I would highly recommend him to any of my friends. He knows how to make class hilarious!

Honestly, I am so very happy I took him my first year. He is an AMAZING teacher, easy, not to many tests(really none), helps you understands paper. TBH IF I HADA CHOICE HE WOULD BE TEACHING EVER ENGLISH AT MGA BECAUSE OF HOW AMAZING HE IS!

I had him my first semester of college and I'm taking him again this summer. Myself and my two best friends have formed a little clique with him and it's honestly the most hilarious thing on the planet. Expect lots of cussing, jokes, and kilts. Yes, legitimate kilts. He jokes around a lot but you do learn a lot in the class and it's easy to pass.

The best professor this college has to offer, he is extremely approachable, his class will brighten your day. He takes attendance through daily work, and you have 2 papers and a 10 page final paper, which he will help you through the whole way if you need it. His class will change your life, take him if you can, you wont regret it.

Professor Sisson is overall a good teacher and funny, although he can be a little vulgar at times. He knows the material well and is an effective teacher. He's very clear with his expectations and makes you work for your grade. There's quite a bit of reading and the in-class essays are challenging if you don't prepare.

Definitely a great teacher! We read in class a lot but that just prepares you for the 10 page research paper at the end of the semester. Not as bad as it sounds, especially when he is there to help you every step of the way.

He is such a great teacher! He is understanding and flexible. His course is really easy if you participate and hand in everything he asks for. Which isn't really a lot. Funny guy who makes what he is teaching fun!

Sisson is the BEST! He love, love, loves discussion and participation matters. Attendance is mandatory, but i promise if you take him you'll love coming to class. Books required for class are all great reads; I enjoyed them. Sisson is an easy grader; however, don't take advantage of him. Enjoyed his class so much and I miss it already.

I loved Professor Sisson. He has lots of reading assignments and you can get away with not reading and still passing but the discussions in class help when you have to write in class essays. He also writes comments on the daily work which I loved because it showed he really cares. He cares a lot about your thoughts in your papers.

This professor is a great mixture of fun and business and I like that. He is very knowledgeable and is willing to help anybody that asks for his help.

Literally the best English teacher ever. He is super funny and in general a really fun guy to be around. He's really interactive with his students and participation matters! Not really tested but we had an in-class essay for mid-terms and our final is an in-class essay. One 9-11 page paper and presentation on the last day of class and that's it!

I HATE reading and anything English but he makes it so enjoyable. Everything is clear from the start he tells you exactly what's due and when it is due. No mandatory textbook, just a couple of reading books that you can get for cheap online or at the bookstore. Take him if you can!!!

Love Prof. S! He is the first English professor that has ever encouraged me to write and given me great feedback. The lectures are build on discussions about the reading assignment so you have to read, otherwise you will be lost, and participation makes up a part of your grade. Would definitely take him again if I could!

I have tremendous respect for this professor. He is quite hilarious and makes clear feedback on the papers he grades. However, be warned. He forces you to buy around 5-7 different books every course and pays close attention to attendance. He also has a particular 10-page essay at the end of both 1101. All in all though very worth the effort.

Took Professor Sisson for English 2131 this spring. Clear grading criteria and it is a lot of reading and very paper heavy. He makes the class interesting and really encourages you to think about the material- participation is very important in class. Would definitely take again if I could.

Super chill guy who will always make you laugh. Be ready to talk because it honestly makes the class so much better. He likes to have classes with food and vidoes. Also a few of the assignments are to draw pictures. Do the work, he grades pretty easy.

He is real easy to pass, as long as you do the work. He gives clear instuctions on how to do the work but if you still don't understand he has no problem with helping any further.

I loved professor Sisson. He was so funny in class and was a really easy grader. I have always struggled in English classes and I actually made an A in this class. Only "downside" is a fat research paper at the end of the semester. But it's really not bad. You just have to participate in class and the books are MANDATORY!

Prof. Sisson is such a caring and understanding professor. He gives the BEST feedbacks. He takes the time to read through everything his students write, whether its discussion posts or essays, and gives his helpful feedbacks. He doesnt ever criticize, but instead he suggests recommendations for improvement. Honestly and truly a gem.

He makes dark humor jokes, and pretty good teacher. Will read a lot, and do work for it, but not a lot.

He gives great feedback, grades quickly, and is willing to help you find resources for papers. This class wasn't too bad. The amount of writing is pretty much what you'd expect from an English class.

Expect a midterm essay and a research paper. He taught me a lot. I learned more than my previous English Professor taught me. He helped me find sources for my paper. Im glad to say I know how to write a research paper now.

Jim is an absolute star. I was one of the only people who participated in my class period, but he's great at explaining things and getting you to look deeper into the reading. He's really funny and clearly a deep thinker. Just participate and ask questions and he'll adore you. Definitely looked forward to his class every week.

He is pretty good! You get what you give with him in that I mean that if you don't participate you wont pass. papers and other assignments are fairly easy if you stay on top of your work. Again, he loves it when you talk and participate if your not willing to do that then you wont get a good grade

Professor Sisson gives great feedback; he wants to help you succeed. He follows his course syllabus closely, which is a major plus. Participation is not only a requirement, but it creates a better environment in the classroom. Engaging in participation aids in idea development for your papers and makes the class a thousand times easier.

Sisson is a great professor. He is very understanding and helps as much as he can. In this class you will read a ton. There are several papers. Most are easy 2 page double spaced (about 3 or 4 of these), and you will have a 8-10 page research paper. He grades pretty easy which was helpful for me because I suck at literature. I would take him again.

Professor Sisson expects the best from his students, so put your best efforts and you will pass with an A he is funny but sometimes it can seem like he's trying to hard to be funny. but you will have 3 essays a research paper and a final and a quiz i defiantly would recommend

Follows the syllabus to a T, so you always know what to expect in class. There's 3 short essays and one big research paper at the end of the year. Expectations are clear, but don't procrastinate on writing. ALWAYS participate in discussions when possible. It's a huge portion of your final grade, and if you never talk, you will not pass.

Professor Sisson was a fun teacher who graded quickly and gave good, detailed feedback. He replied to my emails quickly and I appreciate how much information he provided for each assignment (especially the research paper). That 8-10 page research paper, however, about ended me. I loved his class, liked the books he had us read, and learned so much!

Literally the easiest and best english teacher I have ever had. You might not like his sense of humor but I found it funny. His expectations are clear and thorough. Professor Sisson is always glad to help and responds to emails quickley. He definitely cares about his students.

Professor Sisson was honestly one of the best professors I have ever had. Just read the books and participate in class. The reading is really not that much it's only a couple short stories and one book towards the end. Do be aware of the final research paper its nothing to hard but stay aware.

Prof S is AMAZING! Light course load, and easy to reach outside of class. We discuss books in class, only a couple of essays, and a research paper at the end. Some days he would not have class, in order to give us time to work on his assignments which is much appreciated. He provides meaningful feedback on each assignment. I am so glad I took him!

Be prepared to participate! But he does make all of his grading criteria known ahead of time, and he works with you to ensure that you can get the best grade possible.

He does have humor, he's always there when you need him. The work is not hard you just have to pay attention in class and actually do the work. He does not give out boatloads of work but you will need to read in his class. I loved his class he makes sure to keep you entertained. Work is straight forward 100% would take his classes.

I think sometimes in your academic career, you come across professors who genuinely inspire you and change you for the better and he is definitely one of those for me. I have taken two of his classes now and I absolutely loved them both. you just read and you must participate! don't be shy!!!
