Excellent teacher! After taking this teacher, I worked my next semester classes around his! He will explain things in more than one way and will use visuals to help all types of learners! Allows working in groups for some projects as well. Dont pass this teacher up! One of the best math teachers.

I love math, so I liked the class. He does give homework everyday, so be prepared to work! But, in order to understand the class, you need the homework, so it isn't an big issue. And if you need any help, he is extremely happy to help anyone out, so don't be afraid to ask. He is very polite and helpful (and attractive) - a very nice teacher.

This guy is the MATHEMATICIAN of all math teachers, man! This is my second time taking him, because the first time I gave up after failing to grasp factoring, and earned an "F". Now, with 3 weeks left in the semester I am a "B" student and diggin it!

Mr. Sousa is very helpfull as well as enthusiastic. Tests and quizes are based on the homework and each has a take home portion. Tests also have a portion that one may not use a calculator on, though its not overly difficult. I would certainly take one of his courses again.

This was a hard class taught by a great teacher. He has a great passion and tells stupid jokes in the morning. This class would have sucked without him. It was difficult but if you keep up, go to every class you will do well. He was always available for extra help outside of class.

This was a difficult subject, however this teacher was awesome. Quizzes and exams were related to homework and classwork. There were no nasty surprises. Also, he gave a few opportunities for extra credit. I enjoyed this class and would recommend taking this teacher if you get a chance.

I have not taken a math class since 1976 and I came into the 8 week Summer Session with math fears. Professor Sousa went way above and beyond to answer questions in a prompt and timely manner, be very involved with his on line class, and really has a strong desire to see each of his students understand the data and pass the class. Superior!

Probably the best online course I have taken (and maybe best math class period). It's challenging but you are setup to succeed if you follow the course guidelines and use the great tools that are provided (videos, practice problems, etc). Mr. Sousa is incredibly responsive and helpful. He should be the example for other professors. Recommend!

I was terrified of Algebra prior to this class. I am now a Math person (so far). He set up the course in such a way that if you just try, you will pass. He has videos for the weekly lesson as well as videos for each problem to walk you through. He is also very accessible and helpful. LOVED his class! RECOMMEND HIGHLY!

I took Sousa over the summer after I got a non passing grade in 121. I was hesitant to take him online, mostly over summer, but I ended up getting an A! I used to hate math. He is very organized, kind, and an overall great teacher. His videos really help everything. I do suggest him. Oh, and no expensive text book.

Mr. Sousa is a wonderful math teacher and I loved taking classes from him. He really explains the concepts in a way you can understand them online. I look for his classes when I have to take a math class. He's very nice and always gets back to you in a timely manner. Math is not my strong suit but with his help I've been able to get past it.

I took both Math 091 and Math 142. I would definitely recommend this Professor. I hadn't been in school for a few years before I began Professor Sousa's math class, and he explained everything so well that I gained confidence quickly and I passed both of his classes with an A, which was surprising since I thought math was going to be my downfall.

Man, i seriously with i could take this professor for all my high level math courses. He is freaking great. You will have quite a bit of work to do but in the end it is for your own good. if you do the work, you will know the material like the back of your hand and you will easily get a high A. this class scared me but he is an amazing professor.

Excellent video lectures. Really clear, almost too clear because I end up getting bored and skipping through the easy parts. Not to say that such detail is bad, if you need it. Homework problems can range from easy to hard. But as long as you do every single homework problem you shouldn't have a problem acing the exams. Great professor.

I was very skeptical about taking math especially online but amazingly, it was the best choice ever made with him. He's very clear in all his videos and shows step by step. No textbook needed, just purchase MathAS. If you have any questions he'll answer it ASAP. He cares for his students. It's an easy A if you do all the homework and exams.

Best teacher ever!!

Very approachable and puts a great deal of time and effort into his lessons and ensuring his students success. He makes an online math lesson from Algebra to Calc III called mathispowerforu which I have used for other classes.

I actually took this class by accident. Who does that, right?! Professor Sousa is amazing. Extremely encouraging and always got back to me if I had questions/needed assistance. His Mathispower4u videos are what have taken me from MAT082 to MAT213 and I hadnt been in a math class in over 10 years. I'll be back for MAT221 with him next year.

I have been watching Mr. Sousa's videos since MAT082, and this semester he is my MAT221 professor. Calculus is definitely a difficult course, but Mr. Sousa is the best! His enthusiasm for math can't be beat, and he makes it as interesting as it possibly can be.

Professor Sousa is very helpful and has structured his class to be very accommodating. It isn't a hard class per say, but you will need to work and learn the material. He will do everything he can to help, but you know what they say, "You can lead a horse to water...."

As some one who struggled in Calc 1 with two different teachers, I was nervous for Calc 2. But taking calc 2 with Dr. Sousa was absolutely one of the best math experiences I have had. I was nervous to start online, and that I would have many questions for the instructor, but the video lessons are very helpful and clear.

I had taken MAT 220/ 221 twice before taking this summer class and scored a C both times. This time I got an A as not only did I work hard for it, but Mr. Sousa is a great professor, all his video lessons are easy to follow and you'll only fail the class if you don't put in the effort. Highly recommend if you hate math, this class will change it!

So Professor Sousa is great, for everyone taking Calc 231, dont be afraid to take it online. He lets you finish early but you must put in the work. It is not an easy A, the A is earned through lots of work and studying. His midterm and final are two part, take home. One part was proctored, other in person. Study the practice exams and you'l be good

The best professor I've ever had! I've taken him for Calc I and I'm now in Calc II (and I'm signed up for Calc III). If you put in the time, you will get an A. He provides extra credit opportunities for the midterm that will really help you! I'm military and my schedule sucks, so having late passes when I'm stuck in the field is a life saver!

Took Calc 3 with him online, Best class i have ever taken. He has put so much time into lectures. Easy to get the A IF you put in the work and try to learn. He lets you get AHEAD so get AHEAD! Help with so many examples and is always available to answer emails i was shocked at how fast he responds. I wish he taught more classes, ive learned so much

Best Math Professor that I've even had. He is excellent, there are homework every week, M,W, and F midnight. There are 5 tests that you can take at home and allowed to use notes. Also there is a Midterm and a final which are proctored using ProctorU or going to a testing center, doing the optional review test is the best way to prepared.

I learned to love calculus because of him!! *and that's coming from someone who failed calc I twice with different profs but retook it again with him aced it and took calc II and calc III with him and got A!!!

He is honestly the best math professor I have ever had. I was a bit nervous to take a calculus class online but after having him as a professor that fear went away. He made calculus super easy with his explanations and videos. Finally, he responds to any questions that you have pretty much as soon as you ask them.

I decided to take MAT 241 in the summer with Sousa. It was the best idea ever I took this class online. His study guides prepare you for the exams and the finals. Great way to take an online math class. BTW i love is lecture videos

This is my second time with Professor Sousa. He is one of the most effective professors I have ever had throughout my 4 years in my undergrad. I would definitely recommend him to anyone who has trouble with math, because his teaching tools are very effective. He is very understanding, and a very generous individual. 10/10

Professor Sousa is an amazing person. He is very understanding. The way his lectures are composed are really easy to follow. If you just do the pre test before the exam given, I guarantee you youll get a 90% or above. I only wish he could be my professor for the remaining Math courses that i have yet to take. 10/10 would highly recommend to take.

He's a great teacher that offers extra credit. Its Calc 2 so the class is somewhat hard but when taking it online his instructional videos are incredibly helpful. Due dates and homework assignments are strait forward, there is one 2 part midterm, one 2 part final, 5 chapter tests, and many homework assignments. Overall, it was a great class!

For an ASU student taking calc 3 over the summer for credit, I wasn't expecting as good of a teacher for an online class as I got. He made his videos clear with an application for each of the lessons, and made the homework and reviews nearly similar to what would be on the test. Great class and I wish I could take him for another class

My favorite part about this class was no time was wasted. It was easy to navigate and all of the resources were provided and easy to use and understand. Hands down the most I've learned from math professor and I never even met him.

The professor is good at explaining the material. There are always videos you can watch that help you with the homework. The tests can be stressful so it is important to know the material well before taking the tests.

I took his class online because his in-person classes were all full. I was a little scared at first since it was my first online class ever but he made it very easy to follow. Watch all the videos, take good notes, do the review packets for the exams, and you will succeed.

Sousa is one of the most professional, organized professors I've ever had. He uses MathAS and although the class involves lots of work he makes efforts to address every question and concern for each student. Attendance is not taken but I highly recommend it. This class will make you work for an A but with no surprises, he is always there to help.

I've never had a math teacher like Mr. Sousa. It'd been a few years since I'd taken Calc 1, so I was nervous for Calc 2. He makes the material so easy to understand, he answers emails almost immediately, and he never tries to trick you on the tests or midterms. He truly cares about his students and wants you to pass. Best Calc 2 professor ever! Taking him for calc 3! for every problem he has a specific video for it, no tricks just straight forward learning!! I learned more in this class then any other math class! Test are at home, final is like the review take him do the reviews and you'll be set for the test!

I took Mr. Sousa's course through an online class but with his video recordings for teaching. I only had to watch the videos ONE time through to completely understand everything and memorize it down. He is by far the most clear, concise, and direct in his teaching matter compared to other instructors. I see why his classes are alway full now.

One of the best math professors ever. I took his class online and he has a YT video for the lecture portion and additional videos that explain every problem that is on the homework ( attempts), tests (2 per question) and exams (1 per question). The tests and mid-term/final are exactly like the homework. If you put in the work you will get an A.

I wouldn't have been able to pass without the help that Mr. Sousa offers. He legitimately cares about his students and will push and continue to give opportunities for you to succeed. Definitely one of the best math professors I have come across at PC. I can honestly say I actually understood and learned everything in he's class. He is a professor that helps you and wants you to succeed.

The course obviously requires effort as it is Calc 1. If you put in the effort and do all assignments the tests are easy. I also recommend doing the practice exams for all tests. The professor is always there to help even though its an online class.

As a student who was never great at math, Mr Sousa proved otherwise. His online videos/lectures are so thorough and break everything down to make sense. You get unlimited number of attempts on homework so there is no reason to not have 100% with homework. Notes are allowed for finals. Easily reachable. Not much interaction overall online.

Mr. Sousa has left a lasting impression in my heart. I took him for Calc II and Calc III. I appreciated that he had us pause for a moment and be proud that we had made it to this point. His videos have been pivotal in upper division math. I am one semester away from a math degree at ASU because of the foundational understanding he has taught.

If you are lucky enough to have Sousa, please treat him well. It took me 8 times to finally get him as an instructor. Mr. Sousa is a very caring prof. He does a lot of extra things for his students. Its a privilege to have him.

like the last review i was never supposed to hav Sousa. he teaches his classes in sequence. if ur not in his sequence it sucks. i passed calc 2 over the summer i final had him for calc 3. he created a 2nd calc 3 class. maybe cause he felt bad for all the summer calc 2 students that were out of his sequence.

Mr. S is just an amazing instructor. I had him for calc 2 and 3. He gives 40 late passes. Complete the take home test for extra credit. Mr. S. is really patient also, some dude in our class wrote his entire intro in binary. Mr. S never got angry or upset.

Mr. Sousa opened the moer course a few weeks early because of my health issues. There are no words that I can say to thank him. He taught my entire math education(81- calc 3). He made a lasting impact in my life and is the best prof. Ive ever had.

Sousa is a great professor. I took an online class and he is always very clear with when everything is due. He also gives you many chances to get good grades, like using a latepass for an assignment without having points marked off for being late. Very understanding guy, and always replies quickly.

I got really lucky and was able to take Sousa through the entire calculus series. He has extensively detailed lectures and solutions videos for every type of problem he expects you to learn. The material is comprehensive and will require a lot of time, but it is a great experience.

Has lecture videos and examples for every homework problem, has a practice test for every exam (which is pretty much the exam), and additional textbook problems if you need it (textbook isn't required). Without a doubt, best decision taking this professor for any Calculus class.

It's a true honor to take a class by someone who undoubtedly lives and breathes mathematics. Sousa knows everything there is to know about calculus. The class is set up perfectly, there's so much practice and detailed video lectures you could write a book from it! My advice? Do the practice tests every single time, you won't regret it!

I dont usually leave reviews but I was a new student in the spring 2021 semester and I got professor Sousa assigned to me randomly. Ive never been good at math and I was scared going in to this class especially online. It was the complete opposite he is amazing. He teaches in a way that is easy to understand and I was able to learn lots!!!!

I took him for in-person classes for MAT141 and he was a very caring teacher and he made the class very easy. We do our homework online and he teaches us the material in person. We have 50 late passes and he still gives full credit for them. He was very helpful and really made sure everyone understood the lesson. I would definitely recommend!!!!!!

If you have the opportunity to take any of Sousa's classes, do not cheat yourself by skipping him! He's an incredible teacher and mentor. Truly has a passion for mathematics and has an incredible library of resources. The class will feel homework heavy, but it will make you a better math student. And finally, two words: PRACTICE TESTS

Professor Sousa was great to take for online calculus. There is a lot of time consuming homework. Complete every practice exam, tests are similar to practice exams and open note, 2 in person midterm and final. Would take again 100%

Currently taking MAT221 over the summer with Professor Sousa. He is the best professor I have ever had. He has an amazing way of explaining complex problems in a clear and succinct manner. I absolutely loved having Mr. Sousa as a math teacher. My weakest subject was mathematics, I never liked math but Mr. Sousa made the class very clear to understand.
