This guy is hillarious. Great personality. Gives real life examples to explain the materials. No one did great on midterm or final but it wasn't the most important part of your grade. Do a great job on the case briefs, and you got atleast a B GUARANTEED.

I say take manella instead of staruck. Manella gives same exact midterm and final, and he curves it 8 points. Staruck doesn't curve. I would've ended up with an A in Manella's class but instead I got a B in Staruck's.

Surprisingly an interesting class, he does a good job teaching and doesn't waste time. There's a final and midterm, 50% each, T/F multiple choice, but beware IT IS HARD. Especially the final. YIKES!

He sounds like the guy from "Unsolved Mysteries" which makes listening to his lecture rather engaging. He is very punctual, organized, experienced, and knowledgeable of subject matter. You will learn a lot from him but make sure you read.

Very sexy professor for his age that is. Super knowledgeable and interesting. Trust me you don't need to take a pillow to his class he keeps your attention and lets you out like 1/2 an hour early. Do study for his exams though. They can be a bit hard.

Great teacher made learning about the law fun and told you all the loop holes that people can use against you. Would take him again if i needed another law class requirement. Always lets class out early time flies by.

Staruck is a great teacher. He teaxhes with his own life experiences and tells stories about his court cases. He is very interesting and the time goes by really fast. Not to mention he lets us out over an hour early!! He is very smart and explains all the ways to get arould the law.

I love Staruck! 10 case briefs, midterm, and final. They are very tricky so read each question carefully. Classes are interesting b/c he uses real life stories to help explain the material. Real easy to taking notes. He usually let us out of every class 1/2 hour early. Helpful and being a lawyer very knowledgeable about the subject. Take him.

Midterm and final each worth 50% of your grade, and they are indeed tricky. But he is a very good professor-- he is an attorney so he has plenty of real examples to help clarify the material. I learned a lot, and I would definitely take him again.

GET THE STUDY GUIDE.. read the multible choice questions over and over until you can recognize them and you will do fine on his tests...I didn't do that for the midterm and did bad, but for the final I did and it worked

While they midterm and final are the each worth 50, they are not that hard. Show up to class, listen to examples, and take notes. Do the readings right before the final and you will be fine. Take as a night class, always out at least an hour early. Very entertaining and makes class interesting. Pretty easy to get an A actually.

Awesome instructor. Knows the subject and how to connect to to the students. Read the book, do the case briefs and pay attention in class, you'll get an A. If you are paying attention its hard to get bored in his class even if you try! He doesn't care if you show up for the class, but if you get picked on you better have done the reading!

He is a great lecturer, however, your grade is constituted of the midterm and final, no extra credits. So as long as you pay attention to what he says in class, review your notes when you feel like it after classes, then you should be fine. The professor is not accessible outside of classroom, ask your questions in class.

Staruck's classes are fun and informative, although not mandatory. His tests aren't as difficult as people say on here so long as you go to class and pay attention. If you don't go to class, get the study guide and it'll help greatly. I got a B+ with minimal effort exerted.

Staruck was sooooo great. One of my favorites. His examples helped so much and were really interesting. Some of his stories have led me to believe that this man has no soul, however. The classes flew by. Only grades on midterm and final. Sucks but its really not that hard. I just reread the chapters and got a B. No real studying needed. TAKE HIM!!!

although i went to every class and they were very informative/fun/short (never kept us past 8, night class)you could miss every class and buy the study guide, study every chapter closely and get an A in the class guaranteed.

He is one of the top at the school. I had him at 8:30 and the class was always interesting, plus he usually let us go early. The work is easy as well, just memorization.

Buy the study guide to go with the book and memorize the true/false and multiple choice questions. The midterm and final, which makes up your entire grade, are copy and paste from the study guide. No joke- Staruck even told the class to do so.

class got out early by over an hour every time. tests were hard for me but i guess i didnt know about there being a study guide so that screwed me. midterm final and thats it. he has cases for you but they dont do anything for ur grade. nice guy who is way to tan and tells interesting stories in class. Attendance isn't mandatory but hes actually very interesting to listen to and the class is enjoyable to sit through. the book is ridiculously over priced at the book store so get the international edition (50 bucks vs. 120 something) also the study guide is KEY to passing the midterm and final. Before you decide to take this class, consider this. Grading = Midterm 50% Final 50%. Study very very hard. Those tests are difficult. However, extra points for easy case studies due end of term. My recommendation, take him for BLW-201. Stay on top of everything (notes, reading, cases) especially for class time when he WILL call you out.

a great prof! The exams were a bit tough, but if you study the details, you'll be fine. He does call out on you in class so make sure you're always prepared. The questions were based off facts from the book and from class notes. It's still helpful to get the study guide since a FEW of the questions from the guide showed up on the exam.

By far the coolest teacher at Depaul. Attendance is not mandatory, the only time we had a full classroom was on the day of the midterm and final. He's a great storyteller, law can seem really boring, but out of all my classes this quarter, business law with staruck was the most exciting. grade consists on a midterm and final, really lenient grader.

Professor Staruck is one of those professor that has been teaching the course for so long that he can teach it half asleep. Makes an entry level business law course fun and interesting. Midterm/Final + case study makes up your total grade. Attended every lecture without buying the book and got a B+. Take his 3-hour class, he always let out early.

Take Staruck if you can. He has a very dry sense of humor that is pretty good. He has tons of experience as an attorney so his lectures are relevant and interesting. You really have to be a slacker to not do well in this course, he tells you exactly how to be successful (it's not hard).

He lectures, no attendance, at end of quater you turn in the "briefs" for extra credit, i took the night class and on average we got out VERY early, even on exam days. This guy is one of the funniest professor i've ever had. Guy is a classic Chicago OG lawyer to me. PHENOMENAL class if law interests you at all.

I went to every class and still did bad. Don't take his class, his Midterm and Final is very confusing and you don't have an option to make it up. Fun class but not worth it

He makes the material about as interesting as possible. You need to have the textbook for this course and the study guide helps for the exams. The exams are 50 T/F and 25 multiple choice. You must study extensively to do well on these exams.

Book is mandatory: he uses it for case briefings and problems. Class has never lasted for more than 1hr. He only goes over one chapter at a time. One midterm, one final. Practicing attorney so he has real life experience. His "language" is a bit outdated by nevertheless keeps class interesting.

Professor Staruck is the best! Lectures are super interesting and you always get out of class 30-45 minutes early. Final and Midterm each 50% of your grade. Take notes for the chapter before class and during his lectures. Both Final and Midterm were challenging but he curves.

One of the most charismatic teachers you'll ever have. The only grades are the midterm (50%) and the final (50%), but both are super easy if you pay attention in class. He offers E.C. at the end of the quarter for doing the case studies. Class never went the full hour and a half; we usually got out about 45 minutes early. Staruck is the man.

This prof is great. All you need to do is take some notes in class, and listen to his funny stories. You might not learn much, which is the only downside of the class, but he's incredibly nice, and tells you what to study on the midterm and final. He also gives extra credit if you turn in the problem questions on the final date.

Professor Staruck took over for Samuel Garber half way through the quarter due to unknown reasons. He was absolutely amazing! He gave an example of every single thing he mentioned, which made it easier to understand what all the law terms. he was straight to the point and clear. We went through 5 chapters in 2 days - take him if you want to learn

Staruck is a very straight forward professor. He gives great examples when explaining hard content. The class is 50% for both midterm and final, all multiple choice and T/F. He wants you to pass and makes it as easy as he can although it is a hard topic. Definitely take him.

One midterm and one final. Tests are multiple choice and true false 75 questions. Come to class and take notes. The book isn't necessary unless you want to do the cases for extra credit. Recommend buying the study guide for the book because questions are very similar. Overall I loved hearing about the real life cases he dealt with!

Professor Staruck is amazing, His class is difficult mainly because you receive only 2 grades (50% mid-term, 50% Final). Aside from that, he presents the material in a really good and funny way. Staruck is hands down one of the best professors I have ever had, if not the best professor. He is so good, in fact, that he let it slip that he is retiring after this quarter. So really there is no point to writing this review, but I figured I have to do this man justice to writing this. Thank you prof, your class made me consider school of law.
