awesome way of teaching AMH 2010.
he's always helpful whenever you need help
Class over summer was super easy- he can be a little bullheaded if you challenge him.
Ok, not hot but cute in his own little way. He is very helpful, especially email, very clear on what he expects, and the class and tests are pretty easy. He gives you a lot of freedom over how the class is run.
Very helpful and clear on what he wants. Good way of teaching amh2010. Class act and laid back. Easy.
Very insightful, friendly manner; very clear about expectations and willing to assist when student is unclear about topic/ assignment
A real teddybear; very relaxed friendly manner. Takes all the stress out of learning; I enjoyed his course so much that I learned more than I ever expected. Also very helpful when not sure of topic/assignment. Highly recommend!
Great way of teaching...never use a book so if you dont like to read its great. All notes are given to you and he will help you with your presentation any way possible. definately take if you hate history
Very helpful, great approach to class. Doesn't really use the book, so you don't have to buy it. Don't have to write lots of essays except for the midterm and final (but he tells you exactly what to study). this guy rocks.
Class consists of one major presentation, midterm and a final. If you are not intimidated by speaking in front of a class of about 40 stundents, this class is awesome!!! No papers to write, just a total of 4 short essays!!!
awesome teacher! super friendly! helpful in everyway!class consists of 3 grades. very Email friendly. great course for summer!
I took this class for summer...it was very easy. Dont buy the book, you dont need it. We only had a midterm and a final. As long as you went to class most of the time you shouldnt have any problem with either. Class is not mandatory.
Great teacher, great class, you learn things you wouldn't normally learn in school history class. Easy class but you still learn, very laid-back.
Great Teacher. You have one project to do, its a group project where you have to go in front and present your topic. If you can do that, you should take this class.
He is a very good teacher and actually cares about his students. He is understanding and holds an interesting class.
TAKE HIM! He is the man!
BEST TEACHER EVER!! one presentation which is an easy A, 2 tests, half essay other half=10 mult. choice q's. (essay questions are given in advance with sample essays) very helpful with organizing presentation. all notes are typed and given to each student
he is really easy to listen to and understand. His teaching style is good also because it is more of a peer-to-peer teaching environment.
Really fun guy! Only two tests and one presentation. There are essays on the tests, but he gives you the questions a week before. If you email him while researching your topic, he'll let you know if you are doing a good job. REALLY nice and smart!!
This is the best teacher you could possibly take for history. Not only is the class extremely easy and the teacher very nice, but you dont have to buy the book!! He is such a nice guy and very willing to help if you need it!!
really nice guy..dont have to buy the book...dont have to do too much work..he'll help you with your presentation as long as you ask. i would take him if you get the chance!
Super nice guy, the whole class is taught by the students. Only do one presentation and take 2 tests which you have all the questions and answers to, don't need the book, HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
Really nice guy. always there to help! highly recommended~
The best teacher Ive had at UCF. Makes class interesting. The presentation is not that bad he helps you a lot with it.
Great teacher. Helpful to a fault. Class is amazingly easy. Textbook not required and the tests come completely out of the presentations, but they're specific, so study presentation packets.
I learned nothing, b/c every week students gave presentations. But it's 2 essay tests (that he gives you the questions for ahead of time) and one presentation. Don't need a book, don't need to go to class- just study.
Easy class, but you must attend. One presentation that must be 30 min. with a partner. The rest of the class is listening to the boring presentations and then 2 essay tests that he gives the topics for. Very nice guy.
Cool guy...very laid back...just do good on your PROJECT and you will get an A....gives reveiws for midterms and finals....easy to get an A or B
Very good teacher. He knows this is not an upper level course, and is not interested in boring you. The class is essentailly taught by students, and believe it or not, you learn something. Nice, laid back guy. just pay attention and you can EASILY get an A
I did learn alot from this course, it is mostly taught by students' research, but there are many detailed discussions on each subject. There is a ~30 minute group speach, but it's very hard NOT to get an A on, I think I got a 99% or 100%. Take him!
Easy A, all the class consists of are presentations and 2 tests based on them. He's a nice guy and very willing to help out.
Prof S is the man...Need an easy A to boost your GPA..this is the way to do it!
This class is really easy. All you have is a group presentation, a mid-term and a final. If you need AMH 2010, take it with him.
EASY A! One midterm, one presentation which he basically tells you exactly what to research and gives you the sources, and a final that is only on 2nd half of the semesters presentaions. Tests are 2 essays and 15 multiple choice ?'s from the presentation packets....everyone gets an A or B
Great Guy! He's too easy, you're an idoit if you don't get an A or a B in his class...midterm and final are based on the group presentations...he even gives you a study guide! If you can, take him!
What an easy class.Take him if you want an easy A.EAsy is a sweet and funny guy who will make you actually interested in history,if not for just one semester. He has a project that may seem somewhat intimidating at first but is a breeze. You will get an A in this class if you arent an idiot.
Excellent Teacher, Very easy going, cancelled class for like 3 weeks,It is very easy to get a good grade,is interested in your learning, a mid-term and final and presentations are your only grades, and YOU make up the test questions from your presentation, tests are 2 essays (which you know) take him!
Great teacher!! Truly is a nice man that cares about his students. Dont have to buy the book, a project, midterm and final. Easy A!
Awesome teacher. Make sure you do the group project well and you should get an A.
Stefanick was an awesome teacher. Very clear and understanding. Easy A. Funny guy, just like any normal person. I guarantee you'll love it. treats you like a grown up, everyone is treated on the same level. 3 hour course is not so bad at all. thanks man, for making school not so bad. Take this class
Great teacher!
Very nice guy! Two tests and a presentation. The tests are really difficult consisting of essays and objective questions. But if you do well on your presentation then you should be fine. The classes are really boring though because you have to sit through everyones projects. Ok class, great teacher.
Such a nice guy!! I loved his class and I'm not even a history major. Midterm, final & group presentation. Tests are T/F, MC & 2 essays but come straight from presentations. Always willing to help and is so approachable. Would definately take him again if i could. Easy A but you will learn lots too.
The easiest class I took this semester. AWESOME guy, totally helps you with the group presentation. Keep in contact with him, show up for others presentations and you'll get an A no problem. Read over notes for tests though, the comprehensive part is kinda tricky if you dont
Great Professor. He wants you to learn. The presentations are a little stressful but he helps you out. Be an active listener during presentations and review before test and you will be good to go.
take this history class...its easy....your entire grade is two tests that he gives review sheets for and one presentation. Everyone in the class basically teaches eachother with the presentation...you don't need the book and most people get at least a B
Professor Stefanik is awesome! LOL. Very laid back, considerate, and understanding. Your exams are essays which he gives you the exact exam questions to study off of. Basically i'd say it's an easy A. Probably the best class for history.
Great Professor. Unique teaching method. has students teach each other through presentations. test are all based on the presentations, so if you pay attention and review the material you'll do fine. highly recommend.
This guy was great. He was very helpful with the presentation you have to give. Attendance to class isn't mandatory, but you will do a lot better on exams if you go to class, because he adds extra pointers on the students presentations. He has a unique teaching technique of letting the students be historians, very good class. I would take it again.
awesome professor! he is willing to help with anything. the whole class is giving presentations, and he grades you on one presentation. its really easy, he helps you a lt with it, than you have the midterm and final, and those are your three grades. I did not study much for either, and got a B in the class. i studied the day of the test for bothexa
this is an awesome prof. i hate american history but he made it totally easy and painless. there are only three grades a power point on a significant event in history, a midterm and a final which are cake. this class is the must for the summer!! =]
Not a fan of the "pick your own topic and teach the class" technique: difficult to actually learn something. Most speakers are freshmen and do a terrible job presenting and making notes. It does make the class very easy. The prof. is very knowledgable and funny, so if you're looking for an easy A, this is it. Buy used book: you prob. wont use it.
this guy is really funny. he emphasizes teaching through classroom presentations. as said before, presentations are poor (done by mostly freshmen). but this class is easy
Good class, good teacher, other kids teach class by giving presentations and then he fills in when necessary. make your own midterm and final. easy class.
Talks way too much. Easy, but not that easy. Extremely boring class, not his fault.
His class is pretty easy. You really don't do all that much but listen to other students' presentations. It was an easy A though.
Prof Stefanick was pretty cool. You do 1 presentation with a partner and 2 tests for the entire class. Make sure you are a good writer for the essays on the test and you will come out with an easy A. Dont buy the textbook, you dont need it AT ALL.
Best prof ever. He is seriously the greatest professor I have ever had. He is so helpful and seriously hilarious. He REALLY wanted a tamale, so I gave him one.
Great class! 2 tests and a group presentation. The tests come right from the class notes. Pretty simple, you read the notes, you get an A. You do have to write essays but as long as it shows that you read the notes you will be fine :) I would tell anyone to take this class. It was fun! And he's a cutie too!
really great professor, and really funny! his class is easy and based on 3 grades: midterm, final, and presentation. he didnt give anything lower than a B on any of the presentations, and he pretty much tells you everything to talk about AND provides you with all the sources. test questions taken from presentation notes and are REALLY easy
Good proffesor. His class consits of students giving presentations and himself commenting on the presentations. If you go to class, listen to the presenters and take notes of things he says and things the class takes time to talk about, then you shoudl do well on the tests. There are only two though so you got to do well....
Very easy class, but you only have your two tests and one project, so you can't screw them up. Very kind, funny intelligent man.
Very funny and intelligent. Easy class just 3 grades. One easy project, just pick your partner wisely and put a little effort in it. Midterm and Final make sure to study the notes carefull and there are 2 essays on each one put you get the questions b4 so you can prepare. EASY class just a little work. Guaranteed A
great guy, and great teacher but his teaching technique isnt so great. if you miss 1 day you miss a LOT, and class [over summer] was based on 2 tests and a project which was a 45 minute report on a historical event. classes were really boring and it was hard to stay awake because every day was 2.5 hrs of presentations. didnt learn very much.
did not learn a thing. only 2 exams and mostly everyone got a C on the midterm. I WOULD NOT TAKE HIS CLASS!
Class is a joke. Unfortunately, the joke didn't get me an A. Majority of the class got a C on the first test and being that there are 3 grades made it nearly impossible for one to get an A. Didn't learn much of anything. Easy class to pass, but for an A go somewhere else.
I'm not very interested in History but I'd rather have a professor teach it to me then my fellow students who are about as dumb as I am. I didn't learn anything and went to every class but 2. What was going to be on the tests was so so vaque. Ridiculous, there has got to be a better way to teach history!
We had three grades: midterm, project, and final. He gives the students topics, many are too in depth about a subject nobody cares about. You're basically learning from students who make lists of facts. His tests are vague, and he puts random multiple choice that nobody knows the answer to. Not remotely interesting even if you like history.
EASY A
DON'T BUY THE TEXTBOOK! He recommends that you don't buy the one in the book store and to get it online instead, but DON'T. You will NEVER use it, EVER. 3 grades; midterm, project, and final, so study hard for the midterm and final. It's not necessicarily a hard class, just boring and hard to keep going to.
a unique a different approach than the boring method of simply lecture and nothing more. good discussions!
This class is divided into three grades: midterm, project, and final. Any decent presentation should get a great grade and as long as you study the notes from other presentations (where the test originate) thoroughly, you should do well on the exams. It takes some effort for an A, extremely easy B, impossible to get lower than a C.
A unique approach - more than dry lecture. Very discussion oriented. A good variety of topics discussed that I cared about (not just boring dates, obscure events). Tests mostly fair considering he gives you the essay questions ahead of time. One project, but provides topics, materials and sources if you need it!
VERY EASY, DO NOT BUY THE BOOK! At the beginning of the semester, you pick a partner, and start your group research about interesting subjects you wouldn't normally study in history. Even if your presentation uses the book, they can be checked out at the librar y. As everyone said, only 3 grades. I don't like history, but I loved this class!
Easy class. The most work you will do is your presentation project, which is pretty easy. Just study hard for the exams and you should be fine. Very easy to obtain a B. Not difficult to get an A. Definitely recommend him.
Pretty interesting approach. More discussion oriented than straight lecture. Make sure you attend class - he checks. Essay questions on tests shared ahead of time to prepare.
I ENJOYED this class very much. I am fearful of tests, however the instructor provided the essay questions ahead of time. It's not an easy A but it is possible with study and attendance. I took this class once before and did not pass but I did pass with Professor Stefanick. He told me what to do to earn a high grade and so I did. Very upfront.
Easy easy. I had to study but the instructor spelled out what you need to do to earn an A, B, etc. The letter grade was easier to achieve. Clear objectives.
Easy, easy. As long as you attend class discussions. Professor provide instructions on how to learn the letter grade you want. Provides essays for tests, but not open notes for exams.
Very nice and understanding man. Your grade is 2 tests and a project. You have the choice of working with a partner in the project. No quizzes, no papers, no textbook, nothing but those 3 grades. Without a doubt this is the history class for people who hate history, but even people who like it can enjoy the very relaxed class setting. Great class.
AMAZINGG take this class during summer B
Awesome very easy and fun
Easy class and was fairly interesting. Awesome teacher and had fun taking this class
GREAT TEACHER! loved him! your only grades are two tests a project and a short opinion based paper! you make up your own midterm and final! just make sure to attend class during the discussions! deffinately take this class if history is not your thing!
The class is really easy since there are only three grades, but at the same time, that can be stressful if you score low on one of them. He requires you to be in class to listen to the group presentations though. If you present early on during the semester, you are wasting your time. He is an interesting man, and really helpful with the project.
Professor Stefanick is a very knowledgeable man. He knows his history. With that said, he is a poor instructor. He is constantly interrupting students during projects, and gives no hints as to what is on the multiple choice part of exams, so you're left memorizing 16 packets of notes. Class couldn't be more boring. I'd look elsewhere for history.
Must have been one of the worst classes I have taken. Terrible instructor, if I may call him an instructor, more or less a facilitator in the classroom. The exams are strenuous, with 20+ sets of notes that cover 25 minor details of each topic. There may not be daily assignments but the work is not worth the effort in the end. Don't take this class.
I had little interest in history, but I had to take this course. This professor created an interactive classroom where I was happy to see interesting approaches to history I've never heard of before. He provided study questions and reviews as well. Part of the course is interactive with instructor online with required emails and project reviews!
this class sucks. Im an A student and in a class i should be getting an A, im borderline of getting a B or C. There are only 3 grades and he gave me a B on my project when i put extra effort into it. Hated going to class and he "interjects" as he calls it during students presentations which he pretty much lectures through the entire project.
TAKE HIM TAKE HIM! I had him for summer b and he only has 3 grades and thats the midterm, final, and research project! GO FIRST FOR THE RESEARCH PROJECT! ITS A GUARANTEED A!!! I would take him again if i could!!!
I would definitely recommend everyone take this class over summer B. Very, very easy. He only has three grades but tells you exactly what you need to do to get an A. He is very helpful if you have and questions or concerns. All you have to do is show up to class every day and do what he recommends, which isn't hard, and it should be an easy A.
All the other reviews are pretty accurate. He doesn't teach all year, its just student presentation that have to be 30-45 mins. The rubric for the projects is all he goes by, I got a B on mine because I didn't have what the A category listed. Got an A in the class by crushing the exams, easy considering you have all the info, just study a lot!
I recommend him to all my friends. Took AMH 2010 in Summer B this past year and I thoroughly enjoyed the class. His teaching method is unique, having other students present and using those presentations as a baseline for his lectures. A 40 minute presentation sounds intimidating, but he talks for a good portion of it. You'll learn a lot
Does not teach the class all semester. Students present their projects and pass out printed notes to everyone, and that is how the class is taught. 3 grades is what makes up your final grade. Project, midterm and final.
Professor Stefanick is very nice but I did not enjoy his class or his methods at all. He has his students teach the class; every day is a presentation on a subject given by students. Some of these presentations were terrible and while it may not effect my grade, I didn't learn as much as I wanted to. He also grades very hard on the essay exams.
Students present their projects and pass out printed notes to everyone, and that is how the class is taught. 3 grades is what makes up your final grade. Project, midterm and final.
if you're going to take a 3 hour class, his format is the way to do it. the class consists of presentations so it breaks things up and makes it go by faster. he always tries to get us out somewhat early. the presentations aren't hard and he grades easier if you present in the first couple of weeks. i recommend this class.
The class is taught via student presentations with the professor interjections. Which can get annoying but super helpful. The students presenting give out notes and the test then comes from those notes. He likes creativity and thought into the presentations, don't make yours boring and study the notes and you will be fine. Easy A.
Take this guy. There are only three assignments. This could be good or bad. But usually it is good, the two tests are not difficult and there is one project.
