I had Dr. Sullivan for intro and clinical psych. He's the reason I'm doing Psychology instead of chasing Pre-Medicine. Easy courses, will teach you TONS. Go to class, it's worth it. Buy the Target packs, they're worth it. Hard to go wrong.

This is the perfect class to take if you want to get your head on straight about grad school in psychology!

Mr. Sullivan is a a very good teacher. He uses real examples in his lecture. He is very understanding to students. Although he gets off track, it's still easy to learn. Just read the book and get the target copy notes. You will learn a lot. I really recommend this class, especially this teacher!

Easy class as long as you study for the tests. Go to class...thats where i went wrong. lol. class is interesting and u actually learn alot. he has a sense of humor and likes what he does, which is helpful. :)

It is a very well structured class. Most everyone gets an A or B.Their are 3 tests and 10 writing assignments.But the writing assignments are easy,-just write your name on it and you still get points.You get points for going to class everyday. Be sure to buy the target pack too.Highly recommended

Dr. Sullivan is one of those TAs who should be upgraded to a Professor standing - this is how good he is. Clear and precise of what he wants, on both the objective of the class as well as on his tests, you'll never feel confused or left in the dark. I highly recommend anyone to take any of his classes!!

Professor Sullivan is extremely knowledgeable about psychology and explains things in ways that are easy to understand. He has a great dry sense of humor that makes his lectures even more interesting. I really enjoyed his class and I would encourage anyone to take a course that he will be teaching.

Dr. Sullivan is extremely knowledgeable on the material. He's very easy to get along with & is very understanding when you need help or miss a class. The Target Pack is absolutely all you need to pass with an easy A(B if you're lazy). Lectures vary from fun to mundane but overall worth it. Would definitely take this professor again.

Be prepared to hear the saying "And now for something totally different" ALOT. But he is a great teacher, gives extra credit, is very clear, but you MUST buy the target pack, you don't really need the book unless you plan on reading it on your own time. Test are NOT EASY! Jim Sullivan is a wonderful man and an asset to FSU. Clinical/counseling psych wasnt the most fascinating subject but he is very passionate and never boring to listen to. the tests arent TOO hard but you DO have to study for them. the book isnt completely necissary but it really helps and its interesting :-) i DEFINATELY reccomend him.

Not hard at all. Didn't even buy the book, just get the Target Pack. He's really enthusiastic and relates the material to actual patients he's had (anonymously). Tests aren't hard if you pay attention in class.

Dr. Sullivan was always able to make things very clear during class. It helped a lot to actually go to class, even though attendance isnt mandatory. His examples and stories make it a lot easier to study for the exams. The exams are easy if you study.

Really animated teaching style, but the subject matter is no joke! Do not fall behind in class or the tests will prove to be challenging! I enjoyed the out-of-class experiments, although tedious. And I feel I learned a lot!

the book is very clever, a good read. the lectures/target pack come straight from the book, so i suppose you could just buy the target pack. i used the book, and i got As on all of the tests. watching him lecture is like watching a TV show. he is very lively. experiments are SO MUCH FUN.

Great prof. Nicest guy, and very enthusiastic. You don't need the book, just the target pack. Go to class, since he sometimes tells you some terms that will be on the exam. He also tells you extra stuff that you sometimes need to know for the exam that aren't in the target pack. Also, sometimes gives easy attendance quizzes as extra credit.

SUPER easy. Never went to class. The one time I looked at a neighbors paper I got the lowest grade on a test in his class, which was a low B. Got high B's on every other test. No need for the book, only target packet.

This class is very very very easy! He does not use the book at all, just a target copy packet with all of his notes which he basically reads out of. He tells a lot of interesting stories and is very into psycology and makes it interesting. He also shows videos. I would recomend this teacher to everyone! Attendance is definitly not mandatory, but coming to class can be useful for taking extra notes in your Target Pack. He will also "hint" what will be on the test if you're listening. Overall, I enjoyed the class and would definitly recommend him.

To those that say the classes are boring, your probably not to enthusiastic about the material, that's not his fault. The only bad thing is he reuses a lot of the same material for multiple courses.

If you attend class and learn well from listening, the text book is a total waste of money. He teaches out of 'target packs.' I recommend you buy one. Sullivan is sarcastic, easy going, and quite friendly, I recommend befriending him as not only is it quite beneficial grade-wise, but he's a cool guy.

Don't buy the textbook, just get the targetpack. I really only went to class for the tests, but if you memorize everything and go to the extra credit classes you should end up with an A. He was really interesting when I did go, he uses examples from his own career to illustrate concepts, some of which are really crazy and you'll never forget them.

Literally the most amazing teacher i have ever had. Made me switch my major to psychology because of how interesting the class was. I had him for general psychology and then took him again for psych of personality and will be taking him again for another class. He does not require you to buy book and does not take attendance. SO AWESOME!

Great teacher. i actually paid attention everyday in class he finds a way to make everything he talks about interesting, and keeps your attention. I did not buy the textbook, I bought the target pack, and that's all you'll ever need for that class. Tests are easy but you must study for them in advance, you can not cram for his tests.

he was an excellent professor. Very helpful and interested in the students. takes an ideographic approach to teaching in his 100 student classes. I had him for Clinical and Personality and both were great. he uses attendance as extra credit and the target pack is like a cheat sheet for the exam. take him!

I've had him for both Personality and Clinical and he is by far my favorite professor. He knows what he's talking about, he's funny, very straight forward in his teaching style. If you actually try in his class you shouldn't fail. Definetly get the Target Pack, he lectures directly from it and will tell you what to highlight and stuff.

He is awesome! He is so willing to help anyone outside of class. He is open and honest and let's everyone know what to expect from the class. There was absolutely no confusion throughout the entire semester and his stories and experiences make learning the material truly fun.

I NEVER review teachers but I had to review Jim. He is the most amazing teacher I have had at FSU hands down. He is so kind, patient, and helpful and will make sure that you get an A. He boosted my grades for me because he saw how much effort I put in and wrote my rec letters for grad school. Study the target copy and you're golden. He is amazing.

Mr. Sullivan is an awesome teacher who is there for students if they need it. Attendance is extra credit! I would take him for other psychology classes but unfortunately he only teaches one class. Easy grader, funny, and he tells relevant stories that help you understand certain concepts. Love him!!

Best teacher I've had at FSU. He takes attendance but it's ok because he makes you want to attend classes. If you mess up on an exam but attended every class, he will round your grade up if needed. He is very willing to help students if he sees that you attend classes. Overall amazing teacher, so sweet and genuinely wants to help you.

He gives sporadic, short pop quizzes, but they come from what you've talked about in class that day. He also gives extra credit. He is a very kind and caring professor and I wish I could take his class again!

Dr. Sullivan is hilarious and a great professor! His personal stories help make his lectures more bearable and easier to understand the material, as the subject is very broad. The only thing that I don't favor is that there are no clear guidelines/study guide when it comes to exams, so you are kind of left in the dark there. Otherwise, he's great!

He gives in-class assignments that are an easy A and his tests aren't difficult as long as you purchase his bound notes from TargetCopy. Professor Sullivan is a really great professor. He is funny and great at using stories and real-life examples when teaching. Do not buy the textbook; instead, buy the Target packet (he teaches exclusively from that and it is much cheaper). He doesn't use PowerPoints, so you have to attend to get notes. Dr. Sullivan is really great. He knows his stuff and has good stories. You do lose points for missing class and there are random quizzes that are a chunk of your grade. But there is an EC opportunity at the end of the semester. 3 exams are fairly easy multiple choice and fairly hard short answer. Book helps but not necessary.

James was an amazing professor. His lectures were always so fun and easy to listen to and it helps that he knows current trends in social media to relate to the material. He's very down-to-earth and if ever you need anything, you just have to talk to him. You'll pass the test with flying colors so long as you study his slides.

Interesting lectures. Gives writing assignments during end of class period but the topic is something he went over exactly during the same day so pay a little bit of attention because it is not meant to be difficult. Good professor. Attenedance graded every day.

Dr. Sullivan was an excellent teacher. Not only is his class extremely interesting, he is incredibly kind and hilarious! Occasional in-class assignments that are a guaranteed 100% if you were awake during class. One paper. Attendance is taken but he often lets you out early. I briefly studied the target-pack before exams and always got A's. Great!

Show up to class, listen, and you'll be fine (but you'll want to come to class because he's great). Don't need textbook just study the packet. Super flexible with your schedule-- once I had 5 exams in a week and he let me take the exam a few days late. Definitely recommend!

Dr. Sullivan is a great instructor who relates to students very well during lectures. He is very engaged in the course material and includes a lot of extra information and observations from his personal careers in psychology and teaching. Attendance is graded, there are in-class assignments, 3 tests, and a 2 page personal statement essay.

Dr. Sullivan is one of the best professors I've had. His lectures sometimes feel drawn out, but they always have a purpose, and a lot of times I found them to be really inspirational. He's full of information from tons of life experience, and I would definitely recommend taking advantage of that. Studying is critical so don't wait till last minute.

Prof Sullivan is great teacher. We were supposed to have 3 exams, 10 writing assignment, and personal statement. Due to COVID-19, he replaced the 3rd exam with video summary of the recorded lecture. The writing assignment are not difficult, just pay attention to the lecture. He gave us lot extra credit. TARGET PACK is all you need.

As someone who has some trouble showing up for class, I didnt mind his mandatory attendance at all because I genuinely loved attending his lectures.
