He' alright. He teaches pretty good and is well-organized. He gives us some interesting stories to read, so the reading's not tedious. He has conferences with each student after they write an essay and tells them what they need to work on.

He's a nice guy and very helpful. The stories he wrote are very...interesting. If you can't take criticism don't take this class.

Excellent! Intelligent, funny, and very knowledgeable. The best professor I've ever taken. Open to any and all ideas. Take him if you want to learn how to write literary stories.

Not overly enthusiastic, but very straightforward.Makes it easy to know whats req'd. Just do what he says and turn in your papers on time and you'll do fine. Lite assigned reading is almost always quizzed on the next day.

Professor Thomas was a really good teacher. We did a lot of reading in the classroom, mostly professional essays and essays from other students. He helped me gain an understanding of essay structure. It was kind of difficult, but it was rewarding!

His "dry" humor is great. He grades fairly easy and lets YOU think on your own. Never shoots your opinion down, but tries to understand it. Some in class papers and some research type papers. Don't procrastinate on the research paper, it counts

If you liked him for ENG, take him for Creative Writing, it is very rewarding. He is an interesting character, I am enjoying his class very much. He looks like Harrison Ford.

He may at first seem like a boring teacher but he's real cool. He does have that dry humor but he's down to earth. He only has 3 major writings so it's soooo important to do well on them. Don't forget to do the readings too...he gives mini quizes.

Definately read before every class. He gives a lot of quizzes on the reading but they're so easy. The papers are so important along with attendance but showing up is no problem. He's funny, smart, cute and single...definately a lady's course.

His honors class is kinda boring. But it's quite easy, for an honors course. The entire class is just a discussion. If you write your papers with minimal errors, you'll get an A. Simple. Great teach.

I reall enjoyed this class. Mr. Thomas was very helpful and made the class fun. The papers were well spread out, and the quizzes were easy, as long as you read. Really good class to take for Comp I.

Professor Thomas amazed me by revealing a single element he uses in his classes: the opinions of students. He actually lets us give our own opinions and have friendly arguments with himself and other students. Papers may be long, but he lets the students choose from a wide array of topics.

Mr. Thomas is a good teacher. You have to write two short stories and lots of short critiques. He tells you exactly what he wants and is helpful if you're having any problems. He helped me to feel more confident about my writing. He points out what is already good about it and also gives constructive criticism.

What can I say about Professon Thomas, he's such a nice guy, makes the class very, very, very interactive. Even though I don't like reading that much, he makes the class so fun, disscussing current issues, and expressing our opinions, I just love this class so much. It's such a didactive class that everybody gets an opportunity to express their point of views. This is seriously my favourite class. I wish all my classes were like this one.

He is so easy and so much fun, he has you discuss great issues and you only have to write 3 out of class essays and 4 in class. Great Class I reccomend him to anyone.

Makes things pretty simple, about three out of class essays and a few in class. You have conferences after each paper, but you don't have anything to worry about if you already know how to write. If you don't know how, he tells you what you need to do to improve. A breeze if you know how to write. Helpful if you need to improve. TAKE HIM!

Mr. Thomas was an incredible professor. He was easy and very patient. Grades papers very easily. My only beef is that I felt like I wasn't being challenged and forced to improve. Take him for an easy A but not if you're looking to expand your writing skills.

He is a very open-minded person. He sees views from every angle and will play devil's advocate to help students see the other sides. Nearly every class you will discuss reading that you have before class. There are 4 essays that are 1500 words and a few in class essays. I recommend this teacher and if he ever teaches comp 2, I'll be in his class.

Prof. Thomas is the best english teacher at this school. He doesn't keep you in class if you are finished with your work and he doesn't like to assign novels (the reading you have for homework is from the Short Takes and he goes over it the next class meeting). He expects you to know how to write though. Excellent teacher, definitly sign up early!!

One of my favorite professors! He is such a laid back guy and so friendly. His classes are group discussion over readings in the text book and a few in class essays. When you're done with your work, you're free to go. If you want a class that you actually look forward to coming to and a professor who is real, take him.

Probably one of the best choices out of all for comp 2. Super chill style of teaching; you get what you put into the class. Show up, do your papers on time, easy grade......

This is an easy class if you attend and do your homework. Professor Thomas comes across as a difficult person, but he's actually understanding and nice. Being ex-military, I think he's just used to playing the tough guy part. Plenty of extra credit opportunies. Subjects relate to every day life. Easy A!

Awesome teacher. He's a very personable guy and very easy to talk to. I would often stay after class to talk to him personally.

he's a hard essay grader, your grammar needs to be very good to get an A on your essays. there are 3 essays and the book is required to have. we read poems (essay1), short stories (essay2) and read a book (essay3). he has a sense of humor so class isnt boring as much. just remember, your grammar needs to be VERY GOOD

He taught a college- level creative writing workshop, which isn't found too often at Valencia. The fact that he is a writer made it even better. Great class and great teacher. Only does fiction, so if you like poetry, not the class for you. I loved it though.

Easy A. Almost daily reading quizzes, and three papers. As long as you can write a comprehensible sentence, you're going to do well. He lets you out of class early quite often as well.

chill class. you take a reading quiz every day but it is very easy. attendance is mandatory (allows 6 abs) but about half way through the semister he lets you leave every day after about 20 minutes. he tends to go around the room a lot to get everyones opinion. easy A, i'd take him again

He's a pretty easy A. Read the poems and short stories, if you do, the quizzes are a piece of cake. For your essay drafts, make sure you have something, he won't read it. He gives a lot of extra credit opportunities for just going to poetry readings. It's an easy class. Definitely take him if you can.

It's kind of an easy A, as long as you read the things he assigns you. You have quizzes everyday after he assigns a poem or story but its just about facts. You have 3 essays to do, no rewrites, but he gives you plenty of opportunity to make it right. He will even read it a couple of days before you turn it in and tell you what to change.

Mr. Thomas was great! I had his Honors comp class and he let you be creative with your assignments and made class fun. Make sure you do the assigned reading though!!!

Go to class, do the work and get a grade that reflects your effort. I enjoyed his class and have signed up for his comp 2 class. He is a good instructor.

I definitely should have taken him for CompII. He is one of my favorite professors. Very easy to understand. Grammatically focused as far as essays are concerned, so be prepared to cite and be corrected. He has written novels so trust that he knows his material.

Had him for both comp one and two. I enjoyed his teaching style and his expectations were clear.

First off, I don't know who rated him hot, but he's definitely not attractive. Though I disagree with some of his critiques/opinions on other people's stories, he's a fair teacher and decent guy. The class is pretty much critiquing short stories, either classmates' or other authors which I enjoy. I'd recommend him to anyone who likes writing.

attendace is worth 15% of your grade. 3 essays to write and little quizez about short stories. VERY easy class to pass.

Professor James is hard on your grammars. this class, we have daily quiz on the short story and 3 essays and a final.

He is very helpful and he would take the time to review your essays and give you ideas of what can be good to get you in the right path. You only do 3 essays and yes he quizzes for the short stories and the poems but hey is just a few stuped questions that help anybody pass his class easily. his a good teacher and teaches clearly~ :)passed w B

GREAT TEACHER! HE TAKES THE TIME TO READ YOUR ESSAYS AND SIT WITH YOU AND HELP YOU IN WHAT YOU NEED. YES QUIZZES FOR EVERY SHORT STORY BUT IS REALLY HELPFULL. PASS THE CLASS WITH A "B" AND HAD AN "A-" IN MY FINAL ESSAY. HIS TEACHING IS GREAT!

I'm a writer, so I had no problem with the essays, but he was tough on people with bad grammar and unoriginal ideas; I find this completely reasonable. I did low/average (Cs & Ds) on quizzes, As on all 3 essays, probably a B on the final, and ended with an A:) VERY FAIR teacher. He lets you out early All THE TIME, which I loved:)

Great professor! He's extremely funny and his class is easy and interesting. If you do the essays and score reasonably well on them, you'll pass no problem. Easy A class, I recommend him for sure. :)

Extremely easy A. I took him during the summer so we had 3 papers, all on short stories. A couple of quizzes each week, which are SUPER easy as long as you just read the story. And watched 3 movies.

Professor Thomas was really simple and straight forward. I took the online like 6 week class short. First week just syllabus quiz and your first rough draft. 2 papers the whole semester, we read two short stories a week which means we had 2 quizzes a week. Only 4 questions. Very easy. In all honesty, its up to the student if they want to pass this class or not.

Genuine, kind and has your best interest at heart. Provides the means for you to succeed in class as well as excel if you so desire. Low stress class.

James was pretty easy. All you have to do is read the stories because he quizzes you (5 questions) on them at the start of class after he assigns each one. Don't just skim, literally read because he WILL ask for things such as descriptions or specific events. Email him drafts of your papers and he will steer you towards an A through feedback.
