He's a little sarcastic, but he's cool. All the quizzes are online and they are no more than 10 questions. The quizzes are based off of his lectures and the readings. They are really easy just pay attention. If you're going to miss class just let him know and he'll understand. Full contribute to the discussions.

He can be very blunt when giving feedback to you about your assignments but that's good because he doesn't sugarcoat anything. He makes the class very enjoyable and you never really dread going to his class. I did feel that the organization of the class was a bit off, but if you ask him for help, he's there for you.

Real cool Professor His by far the best professor I had this 2015 semester. He keeps the class going. Only thing to focus on is READING, itll be alot of readings but simple articles.

James Vrhovac teaches a good class. I was truly dreading comp 1. He made it tolerable. If you show up to class, do all the assignments, read the limited required reading, and participate in class, you should be able to pass this course without much effort. Would take again. He has a different sense of humor, but he is nice. He is all about discussions so, if you want to pass with a good grade, do the readings. He is really honest and straightforward, he does not throw shade. If he asks, "What did you say?" it really is because he wants to know what you said. If he asks, "What do you think?" it is not to embarrass you.

I had him for Summer B 2016. He's very lenient to a certain point. It sucks if you didn't do your reading because pretty much every week there was a quiz. He hated when you don't participate to none of the activities. He kicked out a student for that once. Also not doing the work yesterday needed for work today may get you kicked out the class too.

As long as you complete assignments on time, you will pass no problem. He also gives you a lot of time to compete assignments in class and there is minimal homework.

He is a pretty chill, very sarcastic guy. Once you do the work, he doesn't care about anything else. He gives extra credit. No test but the final exam but a lot of essays. The essays have multiple assignments leading up towards it that helps. He grades them rough but you will benefit from it. I am taking him again for ENC 1102.

It was completely difficult to adapt to Professor Vrhovac's teaching style. He is NOT your typical professor. I mean that in a neutral way. But, towards mid-semester, I learned that he truly cares for his students. More than any professor I know. Read the assigned readings & blackboard. Easy A. LOTS of extra credit opportunities!!!

Professor Vrhovac is an easy going teacher who is not politically correct at all. He is understanding though and if you have any issues you can just talk to him and he will be willing to work something out with you. He does not require a text book so you will save a $100 or so. You will watch a lot of videos and the final exam is on a movie.

He is honestly one of the best professors I have taken out of being at Valencia for 2 years. He is very clear and what he expects and as long as you put forth effort in your work you will pass. He makes his class very fun and interactive to the point where I wish he would teach other classes and subjects so I can take him again.

Veteran class: Easy if you do the work and write your papers. Each paper builds to the next one. Helping you understand basic grammar. Don't be a dumbass or a dunce or he'll pick on you. Follow the syllabus and you'll pass. Use grammarly for your papers if you can't write a full sentence. Final project was a poster board and was very fun 2 research

Although Professor Vrhovac is a little rough around the edges, he is a very insightful educator who will do his best to make sure you understand what he is asking of you. Assignments are straightforward and have reasonable deadlines. There is a textbook for the class, but you can get away with not buying it as long as you read what's assigned.

This professor is a model for which all other professors should follow. he's understanding, he knows life can be difficult sometimes and will work with you on assignments even if they are late. he cares about his students, and that's not all that common when it comes down to it.

The course is not over but so far Prof. Vrhovac has been great. He has kept the topics interesting and really seems to care that the students do well. This is an online class and he responds to questions promptly. I will update if anything changes by the end of the term.

He definitely is a hard grader only on the papers (there's only 3) but it's because he wants you to get better. He offers lots of extra credit and when my grade was an 89 he bumped it to an "A".

After coming back to school about 40 years later a lot of things had changed. I wanted to give up not believing I would be able to fix in and be able to grasp what was coming my way. Professor Vrhovac believed in me and encourage me to not give up. If it wasn't for him I was going to give up. I feel better about myself and believe an myself.

I loved professor Vrhovac he was an amazing teacher I learned a lot in his class I took him for 0027 and comp 1 and in both classes he made it fun and easy to understand. I can say this he is a real outspoken person so he will give to you in a blunt way but he does it to help you overall he was really great will definitely miss his class.

Itook professor Vrhovac for both ENC0027 and ENC1101, he's an amazing person, very straight forward, and very passionate about what he does. He can be a little dramatic at times but he means no harm. Do as he say and you shoud be good in his class. There's never a dull moment in his class , you'll will enjoy it. I really appreciated him.

I took Professor Vrhovac for freshman composition one and two. If you choose to take this class be prepared for witty remarks and heated discussion. Professor Vrhovac cares for every student he has but shows it differently than most, he gives you the harsh reality that other teachers are to kind to say out loud. This class prepared me for life.

Professor Vhrovac was one of the best professors I've ever had. His grading is straight to the point and all of his assignments were easy. We only had 2 or 3 essays and coming from a person that's not great at them I have a 98% right now just for following the criteria of all of his assignments and doing them on time. I would 100% take it again!

Very structured class that was entertaining. Only a few assignments but they made you think outside the box (they were fun assignments). The dynamic of the class is about Dungeons and Dragons. There were 3 papers on the entire semester based on the game. He tries to make the class fun and engaging. Professor Vrhovac is very helpful, nice, funny, and laid back. There's no book he gives you all the material. No test at all, 1 open book quiz(which is the syllabus navigator quiz), 1 quiz on the Valencia library(5-6 questions), 1 narrative prompt(2 pages), and one research paper(which is broken up) and easy discussions! Extra credit is available!

You have to take this class with Professor Vrhovac. He's a super easy grader and really gives the best feedback so you know what you did wrong and how to fix it. only two essays. ones a narrative and the other is a research paper. gives you the opportunity to turn in a draft and fix all corrections before turning in the final. you won't regret it!

If you don't take Prof. Vrhovac, you're making a mistake. This class is one of the few I can say I enjoyed from start to finish. It was truly great. He's available at your disposal as well. Emails never go unanswered and he typically replies quickly. He's always there if you need further explanations or a little extra help via email or zoom.

Professor Vrhovac will make you a better writer. If you take the opportunity to ask for feedback on your drafts, he will provide meaningful constructive criticism. He's a kind dude who seems to really care about his students. Take his class.

Mr. Vrhovac makes a video explaining the assignment for each one, which is very useful, and he also provides examples. I wasn't a fan of his grading, as I felt it was harsh and took points off unnecessarily, but not too many assignments (Avg 0-2 per week). I am taking him for Comp 2 now as well.

Just be prepared to ask a lot of questions because he is very vague with his instructions. I'm not sure if that's because it's online and the whole system was off, but we were lost. If you have a question don't be afraid to ask him! Overall he's not a tough grader, he allows resubmitting certain papers within the deadline and offers extra credit.

Professor Vrhovac is a really good professor, the class was fun and easy only took 4 essays and the essay was very simple and easy to understand.

Funny and down-to-earth professor. Each assignment has a purpose in improving your writing skills. 4 essays, 8 discussion boards, and extra credit is available. He provides helpful additional info links along with the prompts and discussion boards. Overall, topics were interesting and responds to emails within a reasonable amount of time. Take him!

The best professor you will ever take! Ive never been more interested in English with the way Prof Vrhovac teaching ways. If you didnt do good on a paper he allow you to fix 2 papers. He comments whats wrong with it and all you have to do is fix it and you still get full credit.

Excellent Professor really cares about his students and makes sure that everyone is engaged in class. One major assignment per week but nothing too difficult and gives useful feedback for improvement.

He is an amazing teacher. He gave enough time to complete the assignments and his comments are really helpful. He is a very understanding person. He is someone that is available to listen to your concerns and issues. As a foreigner or international student, he is a good choice. He also give extra credit.

Pretty awesome and the workload is just right. Expect interesting reading and easy quizzes for the reading. Dont be shy, be engaging for in-class discussions. The writing assignments are also fun.

If you want to have a chill professor that does not assign too much work then take this class! There was only 1 assignment a week and he provides feedback on every assignment so you can improve on the next one. A couple of essays for both semesters and the topics were general so I would most definitely take him for both semesters if you could!

I would definitely recommend this prof. He was so chill and didn't assign much homework, like 1 assignment a week, max 2 assignments. He's a pretty easy grader but might be a little picky sometimes so still try your best on all assignments. His assignments are helpful and it leads you to your final essay. I will definitely be taking him in comp 2.

Professor Vrhovac is easily the best English professor I have ever had. Workload is perfect and the feedback he provides on assignments is extremely useful. Would take his class again in a heartbeat, so do yourself the favor and take him!

This class is very "you're on your own kid" but that doesn't necessarily mean it's bad. All the resources are provided to you on how to write a research paper, including how to do proper citations. The best part of the class was the feedback from the professor. He gave good feedback on everything and tips that I will forever use in life. Take him!

all in all this teacher was alright, I recommend taking his class. but heave my warning, please have patience with this teacher because he was rude to me personally on one or more occasion. literally complained that I had a overly lengthy email one time. all in all it was not that bad at all besides the teacher being unprofessional at times.

Probably the best professor I have taken. The assignment load is very well-balanced and he also offers extra credit. Very understanding too. Gives very good feedback.

one of the best profs ever. very little assignments and impossible to fail. only problem is he requires a lot of participation so shy ppl be careful. presentation at the end about food. funny and classes were always interesting. weird grading tho and said i wrote "too much." but still, take this class if you want to pass English without stress.

This was an easy class to pass. He gives really good feedback and cares about his students. The workload was light and easy to manage. He gives a lot of time to do the assignments. His grading criteria is clear, so make sure you follow it. Please take this class if you can, you won't regret it.

He is an understanding professor, and he gives great feedback. The course consisted of one assignment per week 3 essays a semester. He always made sure to respond to emails quickly as long as it was not on weekends. He does not allow for assignment makeups but he does allow extensions. Would take again.

I took his online English Composition class during summer, and it was really easy. He isn't a tough grader and gives really good feedback that helped improve my writing. He even let me resubmit some assignments when I emailed him regarding them. I recommend this teacher, he's one of the good ones. Get him quick!!

I love Professor Vrhovac my favorite teacher so far!!! He really cares about you and he doesn't bury you work work. He understands that we have a life outside of class and you don't have to read a lot(probably 3 texts and not long). I'm sad I can't take him next semester

TAKE HIM!!! This was definitely my easiest class so far. He's super nice and there were only 2 essays including the final. He gives plenty time to craft the essay. 1 week for outline, 1 week for draft, 1 week for revisions and then you submit the final draft. He gives helpful feedback and assignments are weighted on a 5 point scale, minues essays.

You learn a lot in this class and grading is based on participation. Although he is kind and a good person, he can have a particular behavior at times. During class activities, he sometimes made disrespectful or harsh comments about student's opinions for fun. Other than that, he is helpful and wants you to learn.
