What a Hottie! Good teacher though. He is very kind, helpful, and makes the classes enjoyable, even if the material is complex, or alittle much. He's a pretty good teacher in my opinion.

He's very tough but good. He just expects college students to act like adults. The class is very enjoyable and he is enjoyable to listen to.

I loved him. Not only is he easy on the eyes, he's an awesome and interesting instructor. The tests are directly from his lectures. Go to class, take good notes, participate and be nice! You can't go wrong. I would take him again in a heartbeat. Bit of advice, don't slack on the lab. The one and only test in the lab is a little hard.

Very Good Instructor; he follows the rules and expects you to as well. If you act like a responsible adult you will do fine and he will be happy to help you with any Q's you may have. I would choose his class again.

Mr. Fatherree is interesting and funny- I enjoyed his lectures. The tests in earth science weren't very easy, but he didn't make them himself. He looks like Kevin Bacon, for whatever that's worth. And his slide shows were pretty cool.

He's an okay teacher.....he takes his job a little too seriously.....he's good to take if thats what your major is...but if your major has nothing to do with his class dont' take him...study realllly hard for his tests

The best professor I have had!! I have had him for GLY & AST. His lectures are very clear and organized! His tests come directly from the lectures. Take good notes!! The tests are a little tricky but as long as you show up for class you will do fine.

If you just want to go to class, get the information and get the hell out of there, he is a great teacher. If you want your hand held or want to goof off, forget about it. He's old school, in my opinion, a good thing. I had him for lab as well, and if you don't get things right away don't take him for lab as the instruction is minimal.

One of the best professors I had at HCC! If you come to class and take good notes you will do fine on the tests, everything comes from the lectures. If you have trouble on anything take advantage of his office hours, he is extremely helpful!! Ignore the bad ratings, if you act like an adult you'll be fine in his class.

At first I wasn't doing well in his class. But instead of allowing me to drop he pushed me to keep going and honestly taught me how to study (notecards). He also made himself available during his office hours to help me with whatever I was confused about. He actually cares about the students who are there to learn. He is a wonderful professor!!

I was looking at the computer results of the earth sci student evaluations posted outside his office from last semester - Out of 49 students only 4 said they wouldn't recommend him to other students - only 3 said material wasn't presented clearly - and only 1 said grading wasn't reasonable/fair. I thought he was realy good - decide for yourself.

Hes a stickler for being on time and in class (its a respect issue for him), however talking to the guy if you have conflicts can help. Overall one of my best professor's at HCC. He knows his stuff and is fun. Also hes been practically everywhere so he has lots of stories and hands on experience.

Mr.F is a great teacher! Dont be late... dont walk out in the middle of class and remember to turn you cell phones OFF! Other than that just study notes from class and you should be fine! :)

Mr Fatherree is a wonderful teacher!!! I had no problem with him at all and when I go over to HCC he is always super excited to hear how I'm doing and what I've been up to. If you act your age in his class and take your schooling as serious as you should you will have no problems with him. Study for his tests and take notes and you'll be good. ALY

Professor F is so awesome, if you get someting wrong on the test, all you have to do is go to his office and say. "Well thats kinda what I meant" and he'll just give you the points back just like that. PSYYYYCCH!!!! haha Good Luck, don't get eatin by the big bad wolf.

Ignore the bad comments. He is a fair teacher as long as people act their age. The first day of class, he lays everything out for you and if you don't go along with what he says, you don't need to be in his classes. I am currently taking my second class with him and I enjoy his teaching style. Take good notes and study for the tests.

I still think about him and what I learned in his class.. He's smart, he's traveled the world and knows all about science. Its his passion, therefore, its very interesting to his students. He's funny, interesting and VERY smart! Take him, you'll learn so much, while not getting stressed about science..

He is anal about being on time and is not afraid to rag on you in class if you act like a child. overall a really good teacher in fact I just sign up for another class with him this fall.

he's mean. if he doesn't like you, he lets you know. don't get on his bad side by having your phone go off in class. he will kick you out and insult you in front of everyone. just do your labs, and do well on the tests, and say hello. otherwise, he's an OK teacher, just an ass.

Mr. Fatheree is a very good teacher. He definitely knows what he is talking about. As it has been stated, you will get in trouble if you do not do your work or complete your assignments. He is very clear in what he teaches.

This class is a combo of two things...Easy/interesting, just make sure you study the notes and the tests are easy! Make sure you're on time and that your cell phone is off, cause he will kick you out. He's an awesome teacher, very helpful, and he makes everything easy to understand. Try to make sure you take him for both lecture/lab.

I am currently in his class and have not seen any of the negative things people are saying. He has been an an awesome instructor! He was extremely helpful when I had to miss 5 classes. I know students who said he has helped them as much as possible. If you take notes and study, you should be fine. The bonus is that he is soooo... HOT!!! :)S.S.

Excellent teacher! He begins with very basic principles and builds from there and makes it interesting. Attend, take notes and do basic study, you'll get a decent grade. Personality is hard to pin down: mix of conservative and open-minded, uncompromising but easy going humor. I strongly recommend his classes: I did 2. Loved 'em.

Good teacher, however you are expected to know everything he mentions in class. The key to passing this class is studying all material, even the little facts. Says the class is going to be easy but its really kind of difficult if you do not study ALL the material. =)

Overall a great teacher. He is very clear, direct, and very helpful. If you get your feelings hurt easily, then this is not the teacher to take. He can be sarcastic, but overall he means well. Tests include some multiple choice and short answers. Pay attention in class and copy the powerpoints. Study and you will do fine.

This guy is awesome...He explains everything in terms you can understand...gives examples and he puts humor into all of it! You just need to work hard and go to class on time...Great Teacher..O and he will admit when he is wrong or doesnt have an answer...hes REALLY honest

Don't know what's wrong with some of these people. He was always willing to help me, and EVERYTHING on the exams IS in the lectures and book. Somebody (below) must have been sleeping or skipping. Definitely one of the best teachers I've ever had, just be on time and turn your phone off, and take good notes. Nothing so difficult about that...

Had a great time in this class and learned a lot. He always uses real world examples, usually pictures he has taken himself. He does not like electronics, like smartphones and computers, to be used in class. Show up on time and take notes, you're sure to do great, even if you don't buy the book!

He is a really good teacher. Everything you need to know are in the powerpoints he shows in class. You do actually have to study for his class, which I didn't mind doing. Very nice and funny guy. Just don't be tardy.

Great lectures and he gives you all the info you are tested on. I never even opened the book! You have to STUDY all of your notes to get through this class with a good grade. If you want an easy science class, I wouldn't take this because you have to work for your grade.

I don't know how you can be a 3.8 GPA student and make a D. You must have taken some really easy classes. He gives you all the information that will be on his tests and he makes class interesting.

I had him for lecture and lab. If you are tardy he makes a big deal about it, but overall he is not a bad teacher. He has a lot of travel experience and his photos really help. If you show up and pay attention, you can make an A with no problem.

Many people say that Fatherree is too hard, but that's only if you're not willing to work. His lectures are very clear and he always wants to help you pass. He's there with new ways to help you study and to answer any questions. Be careful on his exams though. He has a lot of trick questions.

I really enjoyed the class and found it very interesting. Mr. Fatherree is very knowledgeable on the subject and has a lot of personal experience with the subject matter as well. My only complaint is that I find his rules completely unreasonable and excessive for a class that should be comprised of adults.

Fantastic teacher; he cares about his students, but he demands respect. Crystal clear lectures that are fascinating and fun, and great study methods thrown in as a bonus during labs - have totally used them successfully for other courses! Professor is great, he is ex military (Army) so if you are the type of person that whines a lot, don't take his class cause he won't take that. He is super funny and he knows his stuff. He will help you if you ask. The best class I ever took. Also, he is super HOT!!

He's a good teacher, and always willing to stay after and help you. If you're not going to pass a test in his class, don't take it. You get one skip and it's better than failing. Withdraw if you fall behind- I couldn't keep up and failed despite my best efforts. His tests are really hard and not multiple choice, so work your butt off all semester.

This was by far the hardest class I took, but I like a challenge. Fatherree was helpful and always willing to speak with me and help out during office hours. I ended up doing really well in this class and I would take another class with him for sure. That being said, if you are looking for an easy GPA boost with little work, do not take Fatherree.

This professor was very helpful. He is more than willing to help anyone who needs it. He will sit there and go over a test you already took to make sure you get it. You can tell he truly cares about his students and does his job very well. The only critique I have is that he doesn't realize that not all of us have the same abilities.

Fatherre is one of the best at HCC and the only one that ever nagged me to come get help when I wasn't doing well. I did and with his help pulled my grade from a D at the beginning to a high B at the end. ANyone complaining about failing should look in the mirror and see why they failed.

Very good teacher. He made a subject that I had no interest in easy to learn and actually enjoyable. If you went to class and took notes, there is no reason you can't get an A. Easily accessible to students. He expects you to be mature as you are now college students and big on respect. I would take him again.

He is a great professor but dont take this class unless you are willing to put in the effort. He makes you work for your grade and I felt so accomplished at the end of the semester with my A in the lecture class and lab. All the ppl who say he is a bad teacher need to get their priorities straight because he is an exemplary professor.

Hard class but he is amazing. All the tests are straight off his power points. If you study those then you're golden. I highly recommend him.

Honestly this professor isn't bad and is not extremely hard. His class consists of 4 exams and a final exam. There is no book needed so just study the notes in depth, especially since his tests have free responses.

Over all a good teacher but he is super negative and treats students badly.

He is a hard professor but that just pushed me more. I passed both lecture and lab with an A. You can't just slack off and expect to do well. study hard. Get a group to study with and devote time to it. But at the end, it was so worth it. I earned Fatherree's respect and I felt great about myself. Best teacher I have ever had.

Best professor I've ever had. I've never had a teacher that cares so much about their students, however, don't take this class if you want an easy credit. You earn the grade you get. MAKE NOTECARDS!! Changed my opinion of science, and now I'm changing my major. Awesome guy!

To start off with, I am not good at science. That being said, I have been able to get at least B's on his test. Though I got B's, this does not mean he will just give them to you. I have had to start study about a week ahead. He is one of the best teachers i've had and explains every term and process really well. Show up, take notes, and study.

Very thorough, very detailed. He helped me decide to become a Geologist, and ultimately get involved in the Geo Sciences program at USF. Talk to the man, don't make generalizations.

This teacher knows the material and teaches it well. Crystal clear about his expectations and follows EVERY rule to the T. Lectures were long bu very interesting and educational. Lots of science, no bull, no essaysresearch. Very educated and knows how to explain subject well. Very strict about everything, no homework except for revising your notes

You have to make sure you attend and if you don't get notes from some one else. YOU MUST STUDY FOR HIS TESTS or you WILL fail. More than half of my class either failed or dropped out. He does give a lot of info but as long as you study his test can be easy.

I loved having him as a professor. He made the subject interesting and is funny. His class was tough and you HAVE to study to pass, but he really encouraged us all to try our best. If you want an easy science, don't take him. Make note cards and study and the tests aren't very difficult, but you have to put the work in. Also, never text in class.

If you're not an A/B student or good at stydying, his classes arent for you. If you put in the time to study and make the suggested flash cards you'll be okay. READ THE SYLLABUS as he is pretty strict on certain things mentioned in it. Tough grader too, he looks at spelling. For lectures, you just copy down his power point notes.

Honestly if you just show up on time, follow directions and study outside of class, its fine. Hes a neat dude with lots of experience. 10/10 would take again. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS IF YOURE LAZY OR A WHINY BABY

Great lecturer, made the text book so it follows lecture exactly. Loved the course and he tells fun stories. You need to make/practice flash cards or you will FAIL. Make the cards it's worth it. If you even look at them before the exams (his only grades) you can get yourself a C+. Almost always available and willing to help. Work for that A ya'll!

6 week online- Before I registered, I read these reviews and was so scared of taking this class. DO NOT LISTEN TO THESE REVIEWS. This class is so easy/interesting & if you just watch the videos/take notes on what he writes. If you follow instructions with graphing assignments they are easy As. Tests are hard if you don't study or watch the videos.

A lot of people don't like this professor. I can understand why; you have to show up and you have to pay attention. At times, there is a lot of information to retain, but it's not bad at all. Tool for success in any of his classes: Plenty of bound paper A good pen An attention span of 1/2 an hour An open mind A medium amount of studying

Um, I made an A, so his exams are far from impossible - unless you don't study at all. This is the first time I ever enjoyed an online class, and the first time I feel like I got my money's worth for an online class at HCC. ANyone complaining is just upset because they were actually expected to learn something, and didn't do the work...

Professor Fatherree gets a lot of negative reviews, but he was one of my favorite teachers at HCC. He expects to be respected, so if you try to text in class or fall asleep he will kick you out, which seems like a normal rule. If you go to class, take good notes, and make flash cards of your notes you can pass this class easily.

His lectures are amazing and there is a lot of interesting information that you must memorize for each exam. I won't say it was an easy course, far from it, but it was worth taking it. If you like challenges and feel that college is sometimes too easy, then take his courses, get out of your comfort zone, and at last, have fun working hard!

The tests for the lecture has to be memorized or know a lot of the material which is mostly definitions (75 questions). The lab quizzes are short 20 questions which was not that difficult (you can literally look in the book for 10 minutes before you take the quiz) so you should be fine there. The 2 finals is the same as tests and quizzes. Easy A

Pretty easy class as long as you keep up with the lecture videos; they range from like 10- 30 min and around 15-20 videos a unit. Defiantly require time and effort but the videos are interesting. Overall, a primarily quiz/ test class with exceptions of a few projects. Easy class with effort.

Awesome prof. All you have to do is watch the videos, write notes, draw like 4 graphs all semester, and write some answers for the 4 VERY SHORT reading assignments he gives. All the answers for his tests are in his lectures or assignments. Just put any written answer in your own words, otherwise its marked wrong. Lectures are somewhat interesting.

Professor Fatherree was a great educator and was always quick to respond to questions when I was confused. I'm confident in saying that the negative reviews are coming from students that didn't put in the effort to learn the material. I mean, he told us Day 1 that the final exam came from the previous exam questions. What more could you ask for?

Excellent professor and class! His lecture videos (class taken online) were filled with information and well explained. He provides plenty of resources for more information, and communicates well with students. Each section has at most 14 videos that are an hour or less; some as short as 7 minutes! Work load was perfect, even for a 10 week class.

The lab portion is easy but helpful. The videos are long, so I set the speed to 1.75 and took notes. The free response questions are sometimes a little difficult. With the last test, my grade ended up being an 88%. I emailed asking if he was going to check the response questions. He responded kindly that he looks over every test. Ended with an A.

This is the first science class I enjoyed since elementary school. The professor was interesting and you could tell that he cared about his subject. The coursework itself was difficult and as an A student I struggled to pass most tests and the final. That is not to say that it is impossible. Just don't take this with other hard classes.

Professor Fatherree has very interesting and funny lecture videos for the online class. He explained things in a way I could understand and remember. He let you know what will be on the tests and what will not. Easy class if you pay attention and do the work.

The course online is taught through very interesting videos and went a good pace considering I took the 6 week version. Would definitely take this class again.

If you are looking for an easy A, this is not the class!! he will make you work for it. but apart from that he is a great professor, really passionate about his job, cares about his students, and will help you in the best way he can. Like I said before it is not an easy class but if you put effort he will see it and help you throughout the semester

Definitely need to stay focused on watching lectures and learning the content, as this class is completely exam based. However, we had all the necessary resources to succeed, and the lecture videos/books were super clear with pictures, examples, and explanations. Only negative thing to say is the lack of feedback, you need to reach out to get it.

He wrote the textbook it's like a workbook. You write in some of the information from lectures but everything on the exams is in bold in the book. Exams are open book too. Same for lab but there are also some easy math problems like english to metric conversions. He gives you the conversions on the quiz and you just have to use them. Easy stuff.

Professor Fatherree is an amazing professor. I took the 6-week term and it was super easy. Just focus and listen to the lectures and take notes (write the definitions down). Exams are extremely straight to point and are not confusing. Other people who say that this professor is hard and strict is wrong. 95% of the exams are directly from the notes.

He's such a cool person. He includes his own environmental work in this class's lecture too. Easy class, fun & educational materials, 4 unit exams drop lowest one, for each unit 2 video assignments and 2 reading assignments directly from the materials so take notes. I took him for summer online class, super easy + not much workloads.
