Really awesome. Hilarious attitude and a fun learning environment. Definitely worth taking!!!
Really great class. He has a good sense of humor and likes to joke around with the students. It is a great class if you arent a science major and if science isnt one of your better classes. He helps you pass the class,& aware not everone is science maj
Highly recommended!!
By far the BEST professor I have ever had in college! He makes what can be extremely difficult material more fun! He makes sure that you understand and is always available for extra assistance. But most of all, he is caring in considerate of every student
Great teacher! Funny and keeps you interested.

I hated science before, and I hated it afterwards. I thought he did just as good a job as anyone I've ever taken. If you hate science, and feel that no one can explain it to you, take him because he atleast is funny. And he does curve some test grades according to what questions the class missed.

I am usually very positive. I have been in classes where I was the only A. This teacher's class schedule leaves so many unanswered questions and he doesn't return emails. There was so much chaos on the discussion board in the begining of the class. The tests are very hard w/vague questions. This is supposed to be for non-biology majors!
I thought he was great! I hate science and he had me convinced I could do it. I did aweful, but he graded on a curve so I survived. Nice guy, interested in making class fun, but not really good at preparing you for his tests. You have to work. His tests are hard but he throws out questions if a lot of people get it wrong. He's good at his job!!!
Wallis, overall, is quite an easy teacher. He gives extreme amounts of classwork to do before each test, but frankly if you do the work and view the tests as being somewhat difficult you will pass the class with an A or B. Take him, he's great for an easy A.
You people are crazy, Wallis is awesome! These classes are pretty interesting. However, if your are majoring in science its NOT for you! I hate science...I always have, but I LOVED this class! He has an awesome personality and this class was extrenely fun!
best teacher ever! hes the reason im majoring in Biology! dont listen to the people who bad mouthed him. some people just cant handle a teacher who isnt a hard a**. they get scared when someone is out of the norm! i recommend him if you want to get through biology!
Its hard not to like his class..I cant get through one w/out laughing at his jokes. He puts things into perspective..rather taking words right from the book...great teacher
Wallis is an AWESOME teacher, i would recommend you take him. He can relate the material to other things, which makes it easier to learn and clearer to understand. He also can joke around which makes the class have a lighter mood, so take him! especially if you really don't have a great interest in biology. he makes it so much easier.
Awesome class. Awesome teacher. He is so much fun and he is a goof ball so he makes things more interesting. He teaches well, so his students understand but he is definately not a push over. He gives challenging tests but you are always paying attention so it works out in the end. He is really in it for the student to learn. He's the funniest guy tho, he's like a big kid. It's great.
he is the coolest teacher i've ever had!
very fun class
if you need this class for requirement this teacher is for you. took it on the summer he did a lot of curves and shorten tests sizes really cool, he makes you pay attention with scinece facts he just gives probalby to have a laugh
awesome teacher and person. interesting and funny. nice peace sign!!! lol
I hate this teacher! He sucks!!
He is a great professor. He keeps your attention and makes the class a lot of fun. I would definately choose to take him again.
he is a fun, different teacher. he isnt dull or boring in class and can touch base with students. many professors arent like that. the only thing is that you have to study for the tests yourself. he doesnt give you all the information in class. you have to turn work in, but it really helps prepare you for the test. he is worth taking! easy!
Wicked cool teacher, best class I've taken so far. Allot of fun and very intelligent. Took a field trip to MOSI (Bodies Exibit) and what a bonus to have him along! I would recommend this professor to anyone.
This guy is a riot. Half the time he repeats himself and then when he puts things on the test that he didn't cover you can call him on it and he'll throw it out of the grading. He is very flexible and understanding. I was lucky to have him because I hate biology!
Wallis definitely knows what he's teaching. Tests are difficult, but his curves are huge. I reccomend taking his class if you are not interested in biology, and if you are.
If you wwant to major in science do not take this guy. He is an easy A but you will not learn a thing.
This class was way too easy. You really didn't even need to learn anything. Tests were simple and there werent many assignments. Takes a long time to respond to emails. And when the system is down for 3 days he still gives you a zero for an assignment...even when you email it to his school email.
Takes days to respond to emails, very unclear, tests do not seem to have same material as the homework, never gives a test review or a hint on what to focus on for tests. homework is super easy, but tests are super hard.
Don't take this class not a very good instructor. takes for ever to reply to emails. you don't know your grades till the end of semester your grades don't coincide with his. Instruction to class very unclear avoid this class. or just take it on the campus. if you have to have him. test very very hard.
This was the worse class I have ever taking. this teacher does not reply to your email in a timely manner, not a teacher to take online. worse class ever got an "A" in the class but this is the worse teacher. I was looking for an B or C but not an A. run do not take mr wallis.
To sum up Jim Wallis - 100% awesome.
cool guy; talks about the most random things in class, which is a great break from the suuuppppeerrr boring material. in referance to the assignments, he's really ambiguous and unclear about whats due and when. he's hilarious though and its baby bio so its easy.
Great person. Fun to be around. Class is a breeze. BUT a terrible teacher. No structure to a course what so ever. Once time for exams - everybody suffers. But then again, grades liniently. Don't expect to learn anything in this one...
Your all crazy!!! Wallis is awesome, yeah hes kind of flighty when it comes to assignments but come on, atleast its not a class to stress over. If you like an interesting teacher with an awesome personality then take wallis. if your uptight and completly structured, this class isnt for you.
Sometimes college can be a drag. Mr. Wallis makes college interesting. Provided a fun learning atmosphere. Really cool guy. I am glad I was a part of one of his classes. Not bad to look at either :)
WALLIS IS THE MAN!! One of (few) outstanding instructors at SPC. This guy is awesome, i hate science...but I loved his class. I would take every science SPC offered if Wallis taught it. Oh, and he is absolutely adorable...
didnt teach anything
Gives the worst instructions and then repremands you for not doing assignment correctly. If you want a teacher who explains things, do not, do not take Wallis. If you want a teacher who is vague about instructions, but fierce on grading, take Wallis.
The only thing I do not understand is how a student that received A's on every test of his and a student that received C's on every test both ended up with a B grade. I can only say I believe his grading practices are unfair and biased. He also never lets you see what you actually got wrong on tests so you can learn from your mistakes. Not good.
Take someone else! I had to withdraw from his class. I could not take it anymore! He fly’s through the chapters, does not teach anything, gives u little notes and the ones he gives you are worthless, he thinks he is funny and tries to tell jokes and really Wallis is only laughing at himself. I wish he would teach something! Then he wonders why
He flys through the chapters, does not teach anything, gives u little notes and the ones he gives you are worthless, he thinks he is funny and tries to tell jokes and really Wallis is only laughing at himself. I wish he would teach something! Then he wonders why more than half the days fails his tests! He also talks way too much!
no one had a clue what was going on all semester. When students would ask question, he would respond with sarcasm or not at all. A few times my work just disappeared from the system and his response was "I did not do it" He was very unhelpful. I would not recommend him to other students
All I can say is, TAKE SOMEONE ELSE..even if u have to go to another campus! He does not teach anything! Don't waste you $ taking his class!!

Wallis hands down is the best teacher ever.. not to mention he is hilarious! he'll tell you the most random things too. HE IS NOT HARD AT ALL. how do you expect to pass a class without reading the book and studying? obviously you will get the A.
Mr. Wallis is a nice guy. The class isn't to bad.
Professor knows biology! Class is fun, tests are not. Study hard to make the grade. Make sense?
good class cool professior works with his students and I gave a chilli pepper lol hes a funy guy and let me take my exam early for my trip to hawaii
Take someone else if you can. He has a sense of humor, but VERY biased in his science. Test are hard, does not follow the book. Took this over the summer, counting the days until this class is over.
This was online. Bad responses, then no responses to important questions. Lots of errors in the functionality of the class. Might have been OK, were it not online. No idea about that. Take someone else for this class.
This man is hilarious! He's funny & you will have so much fun in his class- until the tests. His tests are ridiculously hard because he doesn't really TEACH anything! He's a very nice guy, and he doesn't take his Quiz assignments seriously- but even if you read the book and study everyday- you'll still either fail- or get a B like me. AWESOME MAN.
In the words of the immortal Roy Hobbs, Wallis is "the best there ever was!"
In the word of the immortal Roy Hobbs, Wallis is "the best there ever was!"
Don't take him...he does not teach anything!! His tests are impossible!! I don't understand how anyone can like him or his class....I had to withdraw and he trys to act funny when really he's not! Take Gore or go to another campus!! Don't waste your time or $ on him and his class!!!!
Man, I love this teacher. I took him once before, and was going in a different direction for my science classes, but I had to switch it all just to be with him again. I took his Bio Lab course online, and LOVED it. there were some early issues, so he deleted some assignments to give us all more time to get the labs done. TAKE THIS TEACHER!!!!
Wallis is a funny teacher. His lectures are interesting, but the material that he covers in his lectures has nothing to do with the tests. His tests are very hard. You have to study the chapters in the book to do well on the test. I would recommend you take another teacher if you could, but if not you can possibly get by with Wallis. Good luck!
He is constantly changing his mind about what chapters tests will cover; you never know what to study. He changed test dates the day of the test. His tests cover material that is not covered in lecture or in the book. He will not go over the tests or show you what you missed. DO NOT Take this guy, he should not be teaching.
Wallis is a great teacher, though I suspect he has recently been counseled by Professor Matchette
Fun class, his lectures are very interesting and usually veer off to watching videos on youtube for the whole class, but be forewarned; just because his lectures are easy to listen to doesnt mean his tests are! you really have to read the textbook if you want a good grade in his class!
Wallis is a funny guy, and makes class a lot of fun. He is really good about keeping grades updated. His tests are hard and don't cover a lot of what he goes over in class. He gives off the impression of this not being a "serious" class, but the tests are hard. He is understanding and likable. If you study and pay attention you will be fine.
Professor Wallis is an entertaining professor who keeps his content-rich course lighthearted throughout the lectures. THE TESTS ARE DIFFICULT AND UNPREDICTABLE AND THIS CLASS IS LABOR INTENSIVE- but if you work hard and pay attention, you'll get SO much out of it. He's outstanding.
He's a very funny teacher, but extremely hard! No matter how hard you study or read the book, the tests have nothing to do with what was covered in class or in the book. Not recommended.
Very confusing online. Approach with caution.
Funny man. He goes over powerpoints to do lectures. The class seems easy because he is constantly making jokes, though the tests prove otherwise. The tests are based on CONCEPTS, not strict facts from the book. The final is not commulative. Not much busy work- but make sure you know your stuff before going in for a test! Might take again.
The worst labs ever! Terrible.
Very difficult class. The book is online, as are the tests and quizzes (a.k.a "homework"). He is funny however, goes off on tangents and tends to ramble very quickly about the material to cover. The test will have nothing to do with what he talks about in class. Half the time the information wasn't in the text either. Great Teacher, horrible class!
Nice Guy- terrible teacher. Does not teach anything. Relies on the internet to give you the information you need for tests. Very unorganized. Would not recommend him as a teacher.
Took class on campus, lab online. Class is super easy, i think i maybe showed up twice. Everything is online, "homework" is a thousand mini quizzes that are the exact same questions that are on the Test. Test are easy if you do the mini quizzes. LAB IS COMPLETELY A WASTE OF TIME. Learned nothing, he was so disorganized with the lab class.
TAKE THIS CLASS ONLINE! I took this class as a lecture and dropped it because lectures had nothing to do with the graded work we did online. Next semester I took it online and I got an A. The "textbook" is website access where you get the chapter notes, take the chapter quizzes, and do the online tests. Print notes + use them on quizzes + tests!!
The tests are basically all information you can get offline, and he likes when you EXPAND on what you do get from his notes in class, so they are relatively easy. He is probably one of the funniest teachers I have ever had. Lectures are pointless, but very entertaining. The weekly field trips were useless, but the class camping was a lot of fun! (:
For Biology haters this would be the class to take. I am not a science fan at all but with the book being online and the quizzes also online makes for an easy class. If you can understand the mini lectures online and then take the tests you will pass this class.
terrible. i even took bio issues the next semester after i dropped bio science to try him again and it was still bad. hes the least organized teacher ever and his scoring isnt fair. im a straight A student and i had to drop his class thats pathetic. and he doesnt stick to his due dates and syllabus
Took Bio and the Lab online. Bio was HARD. Book is online. There are a million mini quizzes, usually 40 4-12 question quizzes due in a weeks time. He was disorganized. He was funny though, and he did give extensions and worked with you. Would not recommend.
I took him for online biology and took his lab class. The lab was extrememly easy for me all you have to do is follow the directions. His bio class was hard for me. I managed a C in his class. Tests were timed and very hard some of the answers were not in the reading so I had to google the answer.
Mr.Wallis makes Biological Science interesting.Do your work on time. If you have question ask. He wants you to do well. I took both his Bio and Lab on-line. Labs take time to do but are fun. plan your time well. I enjoyed his class.
Assignments are not clear.
The class was easy and there wasn't really any need to contact Mr. Wallis unless there was a computer glitch in the online program. There were several and I never got a return email till the end of the class. He let me resend the assignments but never graded them. Therefore I failed. He is always out of state and never available.
I spent hours on these labs and got poor grades with ridiculous feedback. But when I would spend 30 minutes and bs a lab I would get an A. It's clear he doesn't read your work and gives unfair grades. This class is a headache and Wallis has been very unhelpful. Definitely do not recommend--online anyway.
Took it online. He was VERY unclear about what he wanted from the discussion posts. Responded to emails with 1 word answers. This class consisted mostly of watching endless videos and taking little quizzes on them. I would never take this class again if I could do it over. Waste of time.
Class is easy as long as you read the chapters before taking the quiz and the test. Expect the unexpected! The syllabus was not followed. Just do the work and expect everything to change daily/weekly and you will be fine.
Test and quizes are easy if you read the chapter before taking it. Never expect an email back from him, and better not miss a test thats online because if you take it at his office he will probably lose the test.He would be a good teacher if he changes his attitude and responds to his students quicker. Also I think he gets upset if you email him al
Most unorganized and unprofessional professor I have ever had! Definitely do not take class online. He never responds to emails and gets angry if you use his personal one. Not only that, but he also based our ENTIRE final on one chapter. No joke. What a waste of time. Clearly should retire or switch careers.
Prof Wallis puts his tests online, but doesn't really review for the tests so you need to reach the book to be successful in his class.
Every person giving Prof. Wallis a bad review is probably lazy and rediculous. Wallis was fantastic! All tests are online (got an A on all of them, open book.) Posts a ton of little quizzes which take 15 mins. You can do them as many times as you like! He gives EC!! And he tells amazing jokes. Passed with a 98!
TESTS ARE OPEN BOOK AND ONLINE! He Gives EC and is hillarious! Got and A on every test. His online quizzes take like 20 mins each and are very simple. He cares about his students, granted, his lectures are pretty pointless and you arent required to come to class, because he doesn't take attendance. DEFINITELY TAKE HIM!! I LOVED HIS CLASS.
AMAZING TEACHER! He cares about your success. Super funny guy, loves to crack jokes. All his tests and quizzes are online and are open book. He gives extra credit! It isn't mandatory that you go to class, because he doesn't take attendance. Lectures are pretty pointless because you don't learn much from it but I go for his awesomness!
He does not teach; he just talks about random stories that does not relate to the topic we're suppose to be learning in class so prepare to teach yourself alot, and do a ton of reading. Tests are online and open book so study the book- NOT the lecture. This class was ridiculously miserable.
Took online.Subject interesting but schedule disorganized/changed/re-opened. Tests open for a few days and had to be done often on a weekday which defeats the purpose of an online class.Posts one week of work at a time so you can't work ahead. Little or no feedback and no clear expectations for assignments. Can't review tests. Would not recommend
All is work is online. The tests, homework, everything. So make sure you buy the book (FYI - it's $210 and not sold anywhere for cheaper) All he does is talk during the class and talks off powerpoints and goes really fast. He's kinda easy but there's a ton of online work. Just make sure you have the book!!!!!
Utterly and completely useless; there is no guidance whatsoever. To this day, I have no idea what he is looking for in discussion posts as I follow his "guidelines" perfectly and still get a C or lower.
The most frustrating professor I have ever had to deal with. Do not take his classes online, his expectations are completely unclear & due dates/times change every week. Love the sciences & writing & he has made it a struggle to earn a B due to his own uncertainty of what he wants in a post.
So useless as online teacher. Doesn't know what he's talking about. Always changes due dates. You have to be on ANGEL everyday because he adds stuff without telling you. Unclear about anything he wants. Hard to please. Makes the students seem like they're in the wrong. No help whatsoever. Discussion posts are so stupid. Never opened book. Pointless
He has no idea what he is doing! The class is interesting, but he doesn't teach you what will be on the test! All of the tests are online and he has know idea what is on it, I had a B with a tutor!
I did enjoy this professor but there was one major glitch. He was not set up for emails and the only way to contact him was through discussion posts. That being said his lessons followed our online bio lab course exactly.Do the work and the quizzes and discussions are easy. Midterm and final were a beast however.
I had him for lab. Extremely complicated. I'm an A student and I got a D on the first test. He isn't clear on instructions, but he is an awesome guy and funny. You have to make sure you study hard and do not miss any class or you will be lost.
He is one of the best professors I've ever had! He can get distracted by his own humor at times, but you can tell he loves what he does. Hes very smart and knows what hes talking about. As long as you clarify what needs to be done at the end of class, you will be fine! TAKE HIM AND YOU WONT REGRET IT!!!!!
If you actually want to learn something, pick a different professor. Hilarious, but completely unhelpful in every sense of the word. Who gives a final without going over the material in lecture first? This guy does.
This class was absolutely horrible. He was embarrassing as a professor and made Biology a truly painful experience. I can't imagine a worse professor. he is extremely ignorant and useless for questions. He constantly changes the syllabus w/out notice. Sorry I can't pass your tests when you tell us one class in advance that we have one??
Wallis is a fantastic teacher. His lectures are fun and he enjoys feedback from his students. Fun and entertaining. His work is easy and he grades mostly for participation. No test reviews but tests are very straight forward and right from the textbook.
For the non science major this class is tough. A lot of reading and outlining is required. Memorization is a necessity. Reading multiple chapters and quizzes each week. Quizzes are timed and tough. No reviews for mid-term or final. No flexibility is given. I took the class on-line so can't attest to his personality. Many classmates are frustrated
I had many issues with this professor. He changed due dates and gave tests last minute. Taking an online class is difficult enough as it is without having a professor that does not give clear due dates and instructions. He gives you enough work as if this is your only class. He is also hard to get in touch with via email. I DO NOT recommend him
Quizzes are timed and tough. Professor doesn't provide study guides and when he does he gives it to you the day before the exam. You will read a lot of chapters each week. His grading method is the toughest Ive ever experienced. He doesnt follow his own syllabus. He doesn't use the calendar. Be happy if you pass his on-line classes with a C.
His BSC1005 class (Not Lab) is decent, he doesn't lock the door on you after class begins BUT his Lab class take at your own peril. His lectures are interesting enough to not induce fatigue related symptoms but if your late by even a minute margin - forget it you failed any tests, quiz's or other assigned tasks that day. LOCKING DOOR IS CRUEL!
Wallis is super funny, but if you aren't into Biology then consider taking someone else. I hate science and his class was pretty tough for an intro class. As much as I enjoyed laughing in that class I would not recommend him as a professor.
Dr. Wallis seems to thoroughly enjoy teaching. Lectures from powerpoints with mandatory class discussion including (usually) relevant anecdotes by him. Test are somewhat difficult with some short essay questions. Read the chapters thoroughly is necessary for a good grade. Involved observation project due at the end of the semester.
Super funny, tests are easier if you study. YOU HAVE TO STUDY. I liked him a ton.
Dr. Wallis is a good teacher and knows the material. He however does not teach the way I learn and I basically taught the course material to myself. Be prepared to write essays as well as multiple choice tests. Tests are very application based.
Overall a great professor. Lectures are very interesting and it is obvious he knows his stuff and loves what he does. Doesn't have set test dates you have to review notes outside of class often so that studying for tests is not overwhelming. Tests are not easy but you just have to work at it(read&take notes)! Not a bio fan but loved the class! :)
The professor has great and has very interesting lectures, but when it comes to materials he is all over the place. He forgets what he has/hasn't assigned to us a lot and is probably the most unorganized professor I've ever had with regards to that.
I Didn't realize how much I hated science until I took this class. very hard and covering so much material! Quizzes and test are designed to trick you rather then test your knowledge. I found this "intro" class one of the hardest classes I have ever taken. I read the chapters and still struggle on the quiz. I am hoping for just a "C" to pass
class was unacceptably disorganized, material did not match up to the quizzes or tests and the teacher was painfully absent entire time. Teacher was slow to respond to questions for help. Teacher does not tell which questions are wrong on the quizzes/tests, so missed the same ones again on midterm / final. no reviews for the midterm for final.
Professor Wallis is hilarious! He also is incredibly knowledgeable and kind. He wants all of his students to succeed and is willing to help outside of the classroom
Totally disorganized, no test reviews, lectures were not structured at all. Rarely lectured on the material we were tested on. Unclear on answers when you ask him questions, we were given the wrong syllabus and he never announced the test dates far enough in advance to be helpful. Worst instructor I have ever had!!
I want to start with the overall course work is EASY but VERY long and extensive. He has SEVERAL class schedules all with different due dates which is a huge issue with being on the same page with his students. Certain things are not even unlocked and email replies are non existent. At least everything can be googled.
Dr. Wallis is a great professor. He provided a lot of specific details about various topics however he does sometimes stray from what will be tested. He is extremely knowledgeable about all biology topics. He is open to all questions. My advice is to read the chapters as he suggests and be prepared to be tested primarily on the reading.
Worst Professor I have in my life. He goes off topic almost all of time. Besides that, he is so disorganized and his tests are so hard. I highly dont recommend taking him if you really want to understand the material.
Dr Waills is the best. He cares and so kind with all his students. He is so flexible and easy. Also, he offers a lot of extra credit. I would recommend him for all. If you want get an A take him.
Lectures are all over the place, goes overtime, never stays on topic, his class does not match the syllabus, does not use my courses; does not post due dates and test dates. No study guide, it's hard to know what to study because of the disorganization of the lecture, u do not have good notes to fall back on. No one really knew what was going on.
Dr. Wallis is an incredible professor and person. Whether you wish to pursue biology or you just need a credit, he is able relate to each and every one of his students. Although, if you do not take time to read/study the material, you will not pass. The test are identical to the textbook's information, all you need to do is be a good student.
Lectures are awful since he goes off topic every other sentence and skips through half the power points. Hardly responds to emails. Never gives test dates until a few days before, and loved to give pop quizzes. Also, tests were hard and had nothing to do with lectures. Don't take him if you're serious about learning the material.
This professor has been the worse I have ever had. I am usually a straight A student, but his only grades are tests and quizzes. The tests are not relevant to the course material and the "study guides" that he made have none of the material that is on the test. Overall the worst class I have taken and causing me to consider non-science based work.
DO NOT TAKE THIS TEACHER. Had to do 3 labs a week, which is absurd for what the class actually is. Save your sanity.
This is the absolute worst course I have ever taken in my entire college career. I know online learning isn't for everyone. But I can say, online teaching is definitely not for Professor Wallis. His lack of communication with his students is baffling. The workload he assigns his students is absolutely criminal. Would rate 0 if possible. DO NOT take
WONDERFUL professor. He definitely makes you work for you grade so do NOT procrastinate. I took practice tests online to study for each chapter and it helped tremendously on top of his reviews. He's very weary of trusting students so hopefully no one hecks up any privileges he may give to your class. His test curves are also reasonable. Great guy.
Gave me two zeros on assignments I already completed in the textbook. Would not change grade even after sending screenshots of the completed assignments
This is the worst professor I have ever had. I took this course and he gave me TWELEVE zeros for assignments that I completed before the deadline. I had to fight him for weeks over email to give me the grade I earned. He told me that I was wrong. Finally I ended up sending him screenshots of time stamps proving they were submitted on time. 0/10
I have NEVER given a rating before even if I have highly disliked a professor, but I feel as if I have to chime in and agree with the other low ratings. I also experienced online labs not working and receiving bad grades due to it even though there was nothing I could do except try and email to explain (which I feel went ignored).
THIS PROFESSOR IS THE WORST! IF YOU CAN, STAY AWAY FROM HIM AND TAKE A DIFFERENT PROFESSOR. I have never experienced a teacher that gives you a quiz the day after taking a test, and what makes the situation worst, WE NEVER RECIEVED LECTURE ON THAT CHAPTER!!! How do you give your students a test on a chapter that was never discussed?
Dr. James Wallis is entertaining don't get me wrong, but his class is very very difficult and I feel as if there is no help to prepare for his tests. There are 4 tests which are 70% of the grade, he doesn't curve the grade at all. He even admits that the second test is the hardest test, but there is nothing there to help us prepare.
I took this course online; it has four major exams, all of which are honors-based and count for most of the grade in the class. This is not a huge issue, but after doing the Pearson modules, watching all the videos, and reading the chapters straight from the book, the exams still seemed very difficult.
I want a refund, what professor tells his student not to contact them about questions, inputs grades incorrectly and refuses to answer an email to correct them after weeks and continues to input new grades?! Screw that, I had to withdrawal from his class for my sanity, unfortunately it was before the refund date but I'm gonna get my money back.
Professor James Wallis is a great professor. I took his class over Zoom. There were 4 major exams. All you have to do is come to class pay attention to class and you should be good. Make sure to read the book and do the assignments on time.
Professor Wallis is very entertaining which is rather hard to do in a zoom class. He linked real world things to class. Sometimes it did cause confusion on what we should actually be getting out of the material. Overall, the extra credit helped a lot and he was extremely fair with due dates as well. Hard test and study material limited but doable.
Worst professor ever never responds to any emails and and not very helpful when trying to pass his course he always goes off topic and I seriously want a refund for this class he is the worst professor ever
I 10000% would not recommend this professor. He grades assignments incorrectly and will give you a 0% for completed work. He takes days to respond to emails and doesn't even respond with a full sentence. He also has all the due dates mixed up on the syllabus. Please whatever you do, do NOT take this class and save yourself the stress. Hard tests.
Professor Wallis was one of the rudest, most arrogant professors I have EVER had. Which is truly saddening because a student should be treated with more respect than how he treated me. This was an online class, which automatically makes it harder on any student. The unprofessionalism through emails with this professor is what really drew the line.
The best way to pass this class is to read the chapters before hand, go through the study guide, and engage. He does tend to ramble but I found it entertaining and funny. Also he does not announce assignments and due dates so PAY ATTENTION TO THE CALENDAR.He is not the fastest when it comes to responding to emails so be sure to ask him in person.
Unprofessional, never available. Did not adhere to syllabus nor calendar. Content often skipped in lecture but still on tests. Words were often inaccurate. Made inappropriate comments that delayed class instruction. Had to study very hard to get an A. Very precise answers expected with vague instruction. Not recommended even for studious students.
I'm sure Dr. Wallis knows his subject matter back and forth but his lecture style is rambling and often off topic. Likes to talk about himself and what's going on in the background of peoples cameras on online courses. Talks very little about subject matter. Read all required chapters and used study guides to find tests were not on topic. Awful.
All of these negative comments are true!!!! Prof. Wallis is off topic, off schedule, what he lectures is not related to his tests, his study guide is a joke, he's unresponsive, won't let you see your tests afterwards and won't discuss the tests afterwards. It's obvious he doesn't want to teach, so I don't know why he's still doing it.
Professor Wallis has an entertaining teaching style, but his class is quite challenging. The tests are very difficult, and there's little help to prepare. However, using resources like unstuck ai and the textbook can really help. Overall, it's a tough but doable course.
Professor Wallis is the best teacher I've ever had. His lectures are fun and lively and you never want to miss a Wallis class. He genuinely cares about his students, but his tests do cover some hard concepts so don't procrastinate!! As long as you read the books and touch up on materials, you will pass the class. Take him for Bio II!!!
Wallis is very funny and laid back. He gave multiple opportunities to get extra points on the final by volunteering. He also curves the test which is amazing. He does backwards grading which can be kinda annoying. He is a good professor though and will talk about anything and everything.
Professor Wallis is fantastic his lectures are fun and engaging and he really makes sure you understand what's going on. The tests are kind of hard but if you lock in you'll do good.
He is very talkative and chill, but it was difficult to learn and preform well in class. He spends ALOT of class talking about random topics he finds interesting rather than subjects that will be relevant for tests. His homework is easy but test are hard. His study reviews are not helpful and I feel frustrated by this class.
As much as I liked him as a person, he is the most inconsistent professor I've ever taken. I've never experienced a class where I had no idea where I stood. I had him for both bio 2 lecture and lab. His test make up 80% of ur grade and consist of the most random questions that make me question myself as a student. Nice guy, easy material, bad class
He was a great person very fun to talk to but lectures got sidetracked very easily and preparing for tests was always unpredictable. He curves tests (because the averages are pretty low) but tests are 80% or your grade and many questions just do not make sense. if you need an A don't take him, if you want a fun professor he's great.
Get ready to hear the same stories every single class. He rambles even if no one in the class talks, repeats lectures, and doesn't even cover test material. He is a nice person but does cuss a lot, as if the students are his buddies. There are 5 exams and 1-3 quizzes per module, every test is off of the online text book. He will NOT answer emails.
