He is new to JMU this year. He likes to jump around topics frequently. Hard to understand sometimes. He doesn't like to explain things to you. This course is hard no matter the professor but I feel like he made it more difficult than what it had to be. Lots of assignments both in the book, online, and write ups.

Professor Willingham is very confusing at times. He stresses about the homework (which he gives a lot of) but doesn't take it up, then all of the sudden he wants homework that is from the beginning of the year. He doesn't give a clear picture of what he wants so the discussion board and write ups are stressful. He makes me want to pull my hair out.

Willingham is impossible, avoid him at all costs. Midterm and final exam make up half of your grade and both are impossible. Gives quizzes with five minutes left in class and gives out way too much homework. Stay clear!!!

AVOID HIM AT ALL COSTS. He is horrible and can not teach to save his life. He went on a 20 minute rant the class before the midterm on a topic that wasn't even gonna be on it, and once started teaching us new material in the middle of a QUIZ. He is so bad at explaining things and makes 0 sense. Get ready to teach yourself everything if you take him

I had an 80 in the class all semester and within the last 24 hours have dropped to a 66 because of how awful he grades. He told me he liked my project and offered edits and then gave me a 45. He didn't even know what to put on the final because he didn't teach us anything. He was no helpful or understanding in raising my grade at all.

avoid him at all costs!!! brought down my gpa a lot. his teaching style is very confusing and he contradicts almost half of the stuff he says in class. Have a lot of 4 point quizzes & hes a hard grader. discussion posts which are stupid because they have no correlation to the content and he grades them way too hard.

Worst teacher of all time. He doesn't teach at all, instead he has you teach yourself. Very tough grader. What is on the quizzes is 10x harder than anything in the textbook. He assigns bookwork but doesn't give you the answers or any feedback.

Nice guy, but not a great professor. While online you would think that how the course is taught would be adjusted, but this wasn't the case. We're supposed to have class two times a week, but he made it only once a week. Doesn't give feedback and makes you learn everything on your own. The online format for the quizzes and exams was awful as well.

Nice guy, but needs to reevaluate how he teaches. Does not clearly answer questions, flipped classroom method is ineffective. Left students with more questions than answers. Online class only met once a week and it wasn't helpful at all. He knows the subject matter, but expects you to understand a more advanced level of stats than you are at.

only take this prof if you want to teach yourself the content.... the quizzes and tests are so much harder than they need to be. only holds class once a week and just sits there telling you all the things you have to know how to do. no feedback is ever really given or clear guidelines of what he expects on exams.

Honestly I'm disappointed. I used to enjoy his class because he was tough & made me work for my grade, I still learned a ton. But this semester I was traumatized. If you want to come to office hours, he tells you to come w your group and be prepared to be asked questions which makes him unapproachable and then he assumes we don't need help... nope.

avoid willingham. no expectations set whatsoever on any assignment or quiz or test. I barely knew what I was doing the entire semester

One of the worst professors I have had at JMU. He is lazy and does not teach. He puts us in small groups without any clear instruction or guidance. We work with material we are unfamiliar with and are expected to learn it by ourselves on our own time. In class, he spends more time scolding us for not understanding than teaching us. Dont take him.

Takes off points for the smallest mistakes, feedback is vague, and you basically have to teach yourself everything. Class meets once a week & other class is to meet with out group. He teaches us literally 1 thing and gets mad when class is silent ( bc we don't know anything). These classes are the worst & he makes it even worse than it should be.

The Canvas page was hard to find things on and you are pretty much left in the dark in regards knowing your grade. Uses name cards sometimes for students to answer questions. All of the answers you give are wrong and you will never know the right answer. Attendance is not taken, but check his lecture slides for stuff if you can even find them...

Professor Willingham's class caused me nothing but stress. Grades were not released until nearly half way through the semester. I received 0.5/4 on most quizzes, although I attended every class and did all my homework. Willingham did not give any advice on how to succeed in his class other than telling us we should know what to expect.

This cause gave me a lot of anxiety, stress, and I did not enjoy it. There is no clear grading criteria and it is all really vague. I did not score well on most of my assignments, mostly because class/lectures were confusing and sometimes we would work on a problem for an hour and not even end up knowing the correct answer.

He seemed super nice at first and got me really excited for the class. But he ended up being impossible and not helpful. He never gave anyone full credit on the homework and make you feel stupid. PLEASE DO NOT take him or you will end up failing or withdrawing

Please do not take this class! He is the hardest grader I've ever had and makes his class almost impossible to pass. Very nice Professor, but not worth ruining your gpa!!!

I literally got hospitalized for the chest pains this class caused me. I was told I was one of the best in my class, I was the most vocal in class discussions, did all hw, studied for 11 hours each sunday, and went to the pass sessions and was still failing. I couldnt pass a single quiz yet I could teach the material to my peers w other profs.

He is a nice guy, however not so great of a professor. He gives no answers, examples, or any help in learning material. He expects you to do it completely on your own and then acts confused when no one understands. The final exam was IMPOSSIBLE and nothing like the previous assessments. He's such a nice person, but avoid him if possible. Math 306.

Class consisted of quizzes that were impossible to pass, discussion boards that required your full attention all week or else you would fail, and a midterm and final. Class consists of him doing one problem the whole time and everyone is confused, not much teaching going on. I cried weekly from this class and do not recommend to anyone.

He taught off random tangents, only went through ~3 slides per class and does not teach lessons well. He graded quizzes very harshly, and would mark stuff wrong if you don't put exactly what he was asking for (mostly unstated questions that extend the question). You learn nothing in class. Essentially, if you cannot read brains, do not take him!!

I took Math 110 with Willingham this semester, and it was not beneficial, to say the least. I advise you not to take ANY class with him. He is an unfair grader and thinks that everyone can read his mind. He told us that he failed students in the past and would continue and told us we would be s*** teachers if we didnt pass his class.DONT TAKE CLASS

HORRIBLE. Doesnt know how to teach. He said if you don't show up to class it affects your grade, however, you could not show up and pass, it just depends on if he chooses to fail you or not. He goes over at least two problems each class and doesn't actually teach effectively. Dont take him if you'd like to live.Doesnt grade fairly at ALL. Dont TAKE

DO NOT TAKE WILLINGHAM. I had him for math 110 and this class was easily the cause for 90% of my anxiety this semester. Told us that we were going to fail basically from the beginning. Only "teaches" 2 questions per class, talks down to this students, and never taught a lot in class. Please for your own sanity choose another prof.

Prof. Willingham wants you to have to retake his class. My other friends who took a different professor for Math 110 had limited to no trouble in this class while I struggled so much. I had to drop the class because of the limited amount of improvement I saw even when doing everything he urges you to do to pass the class. Take Jenny Gibson!

He was the worst professor Ive ever had. The class is so confusing, we do one problem the whole class and then never touch the topic again. You have to teach yourself the topics if you want to do well and it is very hard to find information on them. Absolutely do not take him. My friends and I look back and laugh at how horrible he was.

I hated this class so much. He was never understanding and definitely lacked respect. If he is your only option to take this class, I truly pray for you. You worked on one problem in each class. Everything was graded incorrectly, even if you had the correct answer. You will automatically fail if you don't show your work exactly how he wants it.

unfair grader, he will tell you to argue your point on test/quizzes and will mark you wrong if its not his way put the fear of grading into you, if you have a c- or less you are going to fail the class majority of the grades come from 4pt quizzes that are 1-3 questions over complicating problems if you can avoid this prof please do. NOT WORTH IT!

Willingham is a great person, but not the best professor. He is extremely smart and kind, but his classes just aren't it. If you fail your midterm/ final, there is no coming back from it. Great person, dont take his class.

Willingham is a piece of work! His grading is not fair and will change based off his mood. He never gave a comprehensible rubric. You have to read his mind to get a good grade. None of the homework assignments match in-class material, and you will never feel prepared for tests no matter what. Literally do not take him; it's not worth the risk
