Wong's test are hard. quiz's are all extra credit. but he's funny & definitely knows his stuff!!! i would highly recommend him!
Gives extra credit quizzes. It takes one or two tests to get used to his style. Lectures are entertaining. Take good notes. Just like he says, tough on the outside, really a nice guy down deep, if you can see that far. Hint: know your states and capitals.
He is a VERY good teacher. Unfortunately I was working full time and was too tired to stay awake during those 3 (I think) hours. He really knows what he is talking about. One of the best, if not the best teacher at Skyline College.
Mayn.. He talks hella fast!
Very funny and makes class fun but he is hard. He talks fast and really expects you to read. Gives many bonus point quizzes thank goodness, and is definitely knowledgeable in the subject.
Do all of the extra credit and show up as much as possible because he has a lot of pop quizes
He's a good teacher with a sense of humor. He makes it interesting to learn about your ethnic history. Besides, he lets you out early in the evening courses :-)
Lectures were entertaining and fun to listen too but tests were hard. You had to actually... read... WTF??
I had Mr. Wong for 2 semesters and he is a very funny teacher. He really knows his stuff and he is really good about encouraging you to prepare for the real world by treating you like an adult and not as a kid.
A nice guy, really. But cant teach. He goes off on trivial information and doesnt teach. Missed many classes and always let us out early, a plus. But not when it came to test day and nothing he taught (clearly) was on the test. And then he complains that we did bad. Class avg's on tests was a F
Terrible teacher
Very hard teacher. Doesn't teach at all, only show videos. He also hurt his back but I still got a B in his class, dunno how I got a B but I did.
Very nice & funny teacher. Tests were a bit hard though. READ IF YOU WANT TO PASS THIS CLASS. Lits of pop quizess, Xtra Credit n stuff
kinda hard. just wasnt into him he was not good at teaching calif history. he concentrated on only the chinese culture of it and the tests were on the whole state.. i dont recommend him.
Mr. Wong is the best professor ever! I continually take his classes to ensure that I am ready for the UC system. He is hard but it worth it. He is funny and loves his subjects.
I loved him as a teacher! He cares for his students. He isn't for everyone though. Can be really intimidating in the beginning, but it gets easier. Need to do your reading, a lot of memorization. Usually lectures have little to do with tests. If you get to know him as a student, he is a friend for life. I hate history, but take it because he's cool

damn his**** was fun... i love it. id take it again.he funny as hell... haha
If you fail this class, your a straight up dumbass extra credit chances. If you read you pass.. what class doesnt make you read -.- Very entertaining class too
It's just his grading scale that got to me. 70% is a D? Dropped that class the next week.
tyte ass dude... take this class if can for sure
His generosity with extra credit earned me an A in his class. He is probably one of my favorite professors at Skyline because of his concern for his students. I ran into some personal trouble midway through the semester and he was constantly trying to get updates about my situation. I guarantee you'll pass his class if you just stick with it!
He is very tough on new students coming from high schools. Once you prove your serious and not a flake he will warm up to you. Tests are hard
This is the best teacher in Skyline college right up there with MR Eadus. You will think his class is hard yet if you get to know him on a personal level and give the man some respect he will make sure to get you though and help you out any way he can.
This guy loves to go off subject and he also loves to talk down to his class! I hate that! This is college and we are all adults here...I dropped his class immediately. STAY AWAY FROM THIS TEACHER!!
Terrible teacher! Awful tests! Not helpful at all! Ending up with a W in the class because I couldn't stand his class anymore. Just Awful :(
gd class to take if u're hardworking and serious abt doing well. the quizzes do help if u keep up w the readings!! =)
Interesting class and teacher. You'll need plenty of time to study because there is a lot of reading. Surprise extra credit quizzes help your grade.
do not take this guy! i had hi for philippines history. i withdrew.
very hard cant understand what he is talking about, nothing but videos, and is always yelling at everyone for nothing, dont like him never again.

Take his honor class. He's much more interested in teaching that class, therefore making it more interesting for the students. He tells great stories.
He's FUNNY! Also, he GIVES you A LOT of oppurtunities to get extra credit. He would give you a quiz and walk out of class. He WANTS you to cheat! READ CAREFULLY! HE WANTS YOU TO CHEAT because he knows that his work is hard. TRUST ME! i know.
Unless you like and already know history, don't take him. I took him twice and withdrew both times!!!! He is really hard and is really hard to understand anything that he says!!!! But he is funny at times!!!!!!!!
Excellent teacher, always keeps the class entertaining. funny as well. bad thing is the quizzes. his quizzes can be quite hard, but he does offer alot of bonus points assignments. highly recommended teacher
VERY hard teacher. If you have no interest in history, do not take him. You have to read the book VERY carefully and he is all about the vocab. A lot of quizzes so make sure you attend class. Only good thing is that he is funny sometimes and gives a lot of extra credit. Loves to complain and yell about how lazy students these days. =.="
Easy, Funny, lots of extra credit.
This is not a hard class if u do the reading carefully, and have a good vocabulary. He gives many chances for extra credit. I've never seen him leave class during a test, and I have seen him punish cheaters more than once. Do not cheat in his class unless you want to risk public humiliation. He lectures in a loud clear voice, has a sense of humor.
Not bad. Prof Wong is an interesting guy. I got an A so I may be biased. There's so much extra credit so it's tough to fail. He's test crazy, but it helps as many are extra credit. I had an A going into the final and didn't even need to turn in the final. Many of his tests are open book or take home. Classes are ok, I learned alot!
This man is a GREAT teacher. He seems strict at first but all you have to do is show up to class everyday on time, take GREAT notes, and READ READ READ the books. I learned it the hard way when I saw my grade before I started to actually read them. His lectures are RARELY dry and dull. They are very interesting. BTW, he has jokes.
Mr. Wong is one of the best teachers I've had at Skyline, and the only one I sincerely enjoy conversing with. He's very helpful, intelligent and encouraging. Perhaps some people here dislike him because they didn't want to put effort into learning in the first place.
his one of them "keep u awake in class" teacher...some tests are open book. just read the book n u'll be fine. lots of xtra credits. easy to approach and will help u. no projects or assignments. he will email u the notes 2 study. textbook is think n easy to read. easy A if u go to class, read the book, thats all.
very hard doesnt help at all. good luck.
You need to study hardcore to do good on the tests. If not, he gives chances for extra credit. Prof Wong reads off the outlines and lectures all class long. He goes through info very fast, but he keeps it interesting. He's hilarious and makes 'innappropriate' jokes but everyone loves it. Prof. Wong is awesome but you do have to try hard to pass
i started off with a D for this class, but there was so much extra credit he gives i ended up getting an A. The test at first were pretty hard especially when it comes to vocabulary. Then the tests get easier. just read the book and stick with the class. make sure to turn in things on time because he don't accept late wrk.overall, great teacher!!!!
Dr. Wong is VERY smart and he knows a lot about what he is teaching. I found his tests difficult only because they were VERY SPECIFIC. There is NO make up work. I missed one test, and even though I got good grades on all the other tests, I still only came out with a C. The avg grade in his class was a C, only one A
He is a really good teacher. All tests are scantron. Just read and understand the material. He keeps you awake cracking some jokes time to time. He give alot of extra credit.
Great teacher, really knows his material, has a thorough understanding of the overall class's performance and future performances and adjusts as need be to maintain a class average of a B. He gives plenty of extra credit, and perhaps one of the best teachers I've ever had for history, he's very entertaining and makes the material enjoyable.
If he had taken the class more seriously, students would have gotten better grades. I believe that this semester was particularly off for him and that resulted for most students to self-study. Tests are fairly difficult but, just read the text and you're good. Very funny, would take him again despite not-so-good first time experience.
Prof. Wong is phenomenal! Very intelligent & his discussions and lectures are impeccable! He has so much to say with little time, and interesting facts on ethnic groups. very knowledgable! i commend prof. wong & HIGHLY recommend him. he's not easy neither!
Mr. Wong is a very entertaining teacher, he had a million interesting tidbits of information to throw in with his lectures which kept them interesting. If you go to every class and read the book I don't see how you could get anything worse than a B. If you're looking to coast your way to a good grade, this class isn't for you.
Good teacher. he sends you the lecture notes. you have to read and understand the reading. other than that hes a pretty funny guy.
Hilarious, very knowledgable gives easy exams. You do need to read the assigned books--duh--and with the extra credit it's easy to get an A or B.
Mr. Wong is hilarious! He is really a great teacher, but his classes can be very difficult. His lectures can be hard to follow but he will e-mail lecture outlines if requested. A lot of emphasis on vocab. Read through the readings a few times b/c his tests can be a bit tricky. His class was challenging but fun, and he kept us laughing!
Professor Wong is great! His classes were fun, interesting, and hilarious. His jokes kept us laughing all Summer. It is almost impossible to do badly. Read the book and show up to class, he gave many opportunities to get extra credit. I had so many extra points, I could have skipped my final and still gotten an A.
Prof. Wong is a big softie! He gives so much extra credit in the class that if you fail you must be dumb or don't even try at all. lectures are fun and he inserts inappropriate jokes here an Attend all classes, because he randomly give out extra credit (lots of it) that you might not even need to take the final.
be sure to buy the book, everything from the exam is found in the book and some from his lecture outlines. he is very nice and a funny guy but his exams are no walk in the park.
Really interesting course. If you do the readings, and fill out the entire study guide prior to the final, you should have no problem passing this class with an A, or at worst a high B. He sends you the lecture outlines, and if you print the outlines, it makes it super easy to follow along witht he lectures. Great teacher, and very funny.
Awesome teacher!! Definitely take him if you want a good laugh every now and then!! Truly cares about his students and wants you to succeed!!! but.... you just gotta do the reading... thats all!
AN ABSOLUTELY PHENOMENAL TEACHER. HIGHLY RECOMMEND. He isn't easy, but that's cause he wants to see the best in his students, thus, gives high standards. He's a brilliant guy, you'll be a fool to pass up learning from this Professor Wong.
Awesome teacher! Kept the class entertained with jokes while be a fantastic teacher! If I had the time I would definetly take his class again!
Keeps you interested in the class by making jokes! READ THE CHAPTERS. Print the outlines and take notes on his lecture and you will for sure pass. Love this teacher, will take again for another section.
Wong will make a great first impression, on you with his witty punchlines, fun facts, and pop culture gossip, but the charm will quickly wear off. I say this because more than 3/4 of the class will end up with a mediocre grade. His tests are brutal, class average always at 60% or lower. The class seems easy, but it is straight up hardcore
Professor Wong is a difficult teacher, but if you take notes and request lecture outlines and study them, you'll pass the class. He offers plenty of extra credit, so do it!
Mr. Wong is highly educated prof with great sense of humor. BUT every student who decides to take any of his class NEEDS excellent note taking skills on the BOOK. If you can't remember how to make notes out of a history book, then you need to go back to high school. Just sayin'. I think he's awesome.
I've had Mr. Wong for 3 semesters in a row for all the history classes I took. He is such a understanding and down to earth teacher. He is very helpful and really cares about his students in succeeding! His tests are however very hard. Although if you just pay attention in class and do all the assigned readings you will pass the class.
Prof Wong is very knowledgeable. Clearly he knows a lot about China! He told interesting stories. His teaching style is erratic, which is a negative. The tests were difficult! Almost everything is from the book, but some are from his lectures. There are a few questions that I had to Google. Overall, I enjoyed his class, but I wouldn't take another.
I had this guy for two semesters. He is very funny, sprinkling his lectures with anecdotes and what not. It was an easy class because everything on the test was on the lecture so if you show up everyday and take notes, you'll be ok. On the other hand, the quality of the material compared to other professors at Skyline is not as intense. Just sayin
Mr.Wong is a very funny guy. He makes class fun because of that but his class is very hard. The average grade in the class was below a C . Tough class but he makes it a bit easy. Tests are hard with 50+ questions. 3 test 3 quizez
Great professor. Very intelligent man. Took him at 8am and he grabbed my full attention. His crass humor also helped. Come to class. A lot of the time his test questions are things he mentioned a single time and didn't emphasize on. No essays, no homework, just tests and quizzes. You defiantly get the grade you deserve in this class, Wong is fair.
One of the very best teachers I have ever had. His lectures are so fun. He is gifted with making history come alive and helping me gain much knowledge and wisdom through his classes. I have always taken as many of his classes as possible.
Not exactly an easy class, but he is fair and an intelligent teacher. His lectures are entertaining and you MUST pay attention or you could miss one thing and it'll show up on the test. Expect to memorize many vocab words and assigned readings. If you are good at memorization this class could be for you. Minimal critical thinking.
Prof. Wong is an awesome teacher. Although his tests are very hard, if you get at least a D or C on them and pass all the vocab tests, you'll have an A in the class. He gives tons of extra credit cause he knows his tests are hard. I'm taking this class to get rid of my GE and this makes it much easier not having to learn.
Mr. Wong, while very hard, is in no way strict. Many a person will straggle in an hour to an hour and a half after class started just to get the homework and tests. While I would not agree with his method of teaching (very colloquial, swears like a sailor to try to seem cool), it gets the job done in a way most people can understand.
He is an awfully offensive professor. He was a long term sub for a class I was extremely excited to take and he nearly ruined the subjectcourse before the original professor returned from leave. I literally DREADED going to every class that he taught, and felt like he was constantly inappropriate.
Take this class if you have no other choice
He won't baby you- at all. You have to ask questions after class mostly or e-mail him. Very detailed lecture so it's clear, but there's a lot of info you need to review in order to pass. Big EC at the end of the course and curved the test grades- if you start out with a C or D, you can still get an A by the end of the course. Not an easy class tho
He's a chillfunny guy. Every class session was a lecture. Just always show up, sign in, sit down for an hour and take some notes. Anything he says will show up on tests worth 200+ points. Several take home tests that will either make or break your grade. If he offers EC, TAKE IT. Class was out of 1220 points. He gives you the grade you deserve.
The tests are long and often ask minor details not touched on during lecture, but that are hidden in the book. He will also post and announce students grades for everyone to see. While his personality is great, his teaching style leaves much to be desired.
Professor Wong has the best lectures, makes me look forward to class even at 8am. He also gives lecture outlines, which you print & bring to class and take notes on; really useful! He's great and keeps history pretty interesting. I would take this class again if I could. Come to class and read the textbook or focus in lecture, and it's an easy A.
A great teacher. I'm a better citizen because of the history I learn from him. His jokes and pop culture references make lectures fun. Many students including me take several of his classes because we learn. Tests are fair. Curiously students expect to work hard for an A in math but get mad when they are lazy and get a bad grade in history.
He is a great teacher who is very passionate about history. His lectures can feel a bit long but he is very entertaining and keeps you intrigued. No homework but studying for tests are greatly recommended. They are hard but you can get a solid A in the class if you study and participate. He also gives extra credit.
Prof. Wong is great at what he does because he really cares for his students. He encourages students to try harder in class for a better grade. He sends students his lecture outlines so u can use it to study. Not much reading, but be sure to read when instructed. Sometimes, his tests include topics that were not in lecture that's why u should read!
He has a weird accent. Yes he is Chinese, but I can't understand his accent when he's lecturing to the class. He gives tests based on acronyms he explains from the lecture in Microsoft Word instead of power points.
sooo horrible. He only asks the detail. But you never hear the question! Never ever take his class.
He gets off topic very easily and it makes it difficult to take notes. His tests are non-multiple choice and are very difficult if you aren't good at memorizing dates and names. If history is not your strong suit and you're taking it for a G.E. I don't recommend taking Wong for HIST201.
History is one of my worst subjects but prof Wong made it bearable. I never purchased or rented the textbook though that wasn't the best choice because I heavily depended on my notes and his lecture pdf that he sent out before lectures. But I still passed his class with a B
Professor Wong gets off topic pretty quick; it is extremely hard to follow him. He once lied to the class; he told the class that the test will be about one outline and civics (which is very generic), but questions from other outlines came in the test. And how can one study for "civics"? How is that fair? Wouldn't recommend if you care about GPA.
tests are really long: a lot of questions, he's a good professor sometimes you'll receive repeated class. very entertained. if you're taking HIST240 with him the HW for the end of the semester is 42 slices of a specific ethnic, so my recommendation to anyone is to start as soon as you can!
Professor Wong is one of the best professors that I have had for a History class. It is definitely not an easy A class, but you can get the grade you are aiming for if you actually put the work.
Professor Wong is a great educator who really explains our nation's history and cares about what he does. His lectures catch your attention, but are not watered down at all. Your grade is solely based on the tests you take which challenge your knowledge of the content. I will be taking his Hist 202 class next semester. Hope this helps!
This teacher is really tough, just for a GE class I wouldn't recommend. If you're a History major, and love everything about it and don't mind memorizing dates, names and places then he's your dream. Any other less number minded people, AVOID! He is a no frills teacher who will sink your GPA if you're not there and ready to put in A LOT of effort!!
Super funny guy, often lets class out early which is great. Majority of the points are from take-home scantrons and the lecture notes are emailed out before every test so it's not hard to get a good grade. If he writes it on the board it will be on the test. Class is for fast-paced learners
Professor Wong is approachable at the beginning. Lectures barely follow the book or pertain to test questions. I love history, I wish this class was more engaging. Take home tests are 100 q's. He does tell a few things to remember for the tests. Be ready to teach yourself.
Prof. Wong emails outlines he'll be lecturing on. Attendance does matter. Take a lot of notes. Our grade was only based on a few things ( two tests, power point project, Final). The 42-page powerpoint actually wasn't that difficult. Its not an easy A, you have to put in the work. I found his lectures pretty interesting & I'm not fond of history
So we had like three quizzes the entire year, no essays, no big tests, JUST ONE BIG PROJECT, he gives no study guides on quizzes nor the final, everything was just vague, there was no communication, it was just bad, im really mad Im going to have to retake this class. He doesn't have clear slides. It's just like an outline format and he just talks.
doesn't give any warnings for tests so check email often. Copies and pastes test from the internet
For anyone taking his online class, he doesn't have lectures he just has bullet point notes that dont make sense and his tests have questions that weren't even covered in his "lecture". The final project is a 32 slide power point with no directions other than "pick one of these 6 topics and research it".
Do not take this professor!! He almost made it so I wouldn't be able to transfer out of Skyline! For my first exam he apparently had a problem opening it or something and just never told me! And he does not keep Canvas updated so when he posted grades at the end imagine my surprise!!! He eventually fixed his mistake but, seriously not worth it!
It is not difficult to get an A in this class. Shell up, do the work, and you will pass with a good grade.
