His presentation of the notes was scatter-brained!!
this guy is jolly!!!
i have never been so engrossed with a teacher's lecture in my life. this guy knows his**** and knows howto present it to college students to make them want to learn it. You have got to tkae his class!!!!!!!!!
Test were very easy, taken staright from the lectures.
Funny guy if you get to know him. Very down to Earth outside of class. The kind of guy you would probably want to drink a beer with and talk about women! In class, he is very professional and very enthusiastic about History. Good Prof.
His tests can be hard but if you at least pay attention to the notes that you take you should be fine. Not a class for people who never go to class and/or never take notes. Takes a little work.
Woods is brilliant with history. His tests are derived from his class material - pay attention to important events/treaties. On ever test he offers a 15 point bonus essay question which you know before hand that is added to your test grade. He drops the lowest test, and gives points for attendance that are added to your OVERALL grade in the class.
Loved his class! I absolutely hate history, but he made it fairly interesting and gave a LOT of extra credit points. TAKE IT!
This will be one of the easiest upper level histories you ever take. His lectures are badass. Tests are straight from the lectur and readings. There is absolutly no ambiguity or variance between your notes and the test.
He is an awesome teacher. I really enjoy his class and he keeps you interested. His test are straight forward and exactly what he teaches. Take his class!
He really knows what he's talking about & makes class very interesting. Tests had 50 multiple choice questions with an essay bonus. Take notes and study them and you will pass. He has a text book but most stuff is covered in the notes. If you want better than a passing grade, read over the chapters in the text. Gives extra credit for attendance.
Very interesting teacher. very smart man and sometimes thinks he is to smart lol. review sessions help alot. gives you essays then. test are extremely hard though. dropped and taking someone else. but very interesting
Great teacher! Very enthusiastic about history! Tests are straight from the notes, but you DO need to study! It's a LOT
this professor was hard. i went every day because on certain days he will give extra credit for coming to class. i had a difficult time with him because his notes were way too detailed for the tests. he is all about trivia.
good teacher! class is kind of hard, tho! he's very enthusiastic about history, but makes the class very interesting. but you have to study hard for the test. its a lot of information. and he gives an OPTIONAL
Had him for U.S. History. Great guy, really funny. His tests are over alot of notes but how else are you supposed to cover over 250 years of history in 1 semester?! Go to his review sessions and he gives you the answers to essay questions (up to 15 extra credit points on a test)! really no reason to fail a test in this class.
Study the notes, go to review sessions,go to class and visit his office and you will do great!
Very good teacher. His tests cover a LOT of notes, but he always tells you about 2 extra credit essay questions beforehand. If you study those questions and give him a detailed essay on those questions (very easy) you will get a TON of extra credit points. (I made A's on two tests that I would have had C's on without the extra credit)
Probably the best Professor I've ever had. I think history is pointless, but this guy makes it interesting and makes you want to learn. I never studied for his class and got an A. Just attend class and the help sessions, and you're golden. If you pay attention, he will tell you all the answers to the tests. Plus he gives bonus essay questions.
Professor Woods: he's very enthusiastic about History. However, he gives a lot of details about things that will not be on the test. So you have to decipher what all you need to study for the tests. A scale of 1-10? 4. Don't get me wrong, he knows history, but he's not very helpful to his students.
Great Professor but VERY HARD TEST. its not memorizing notes which a lot of people do in history its knowing what happened and applying it
He is a good teacher. Never used the book so you have to go to class, although attendence is not mandatory. He does not post the notes online so you have to copy down a lot. The study sessions he has really dont help unless you have specific questions. Overall a good professor.
He's a really smart guy and makes the class extremely interesting. Although his tests are extremely hard but it is possible to get an A if you pay attention in class and study the notes, I got one. You don't need a book, save some money!
Great professor, history madman! Attendance isn't required, but you need to go to take notes. I found the tests to be extremley hard though. You get extra credit for going on random days. Only take this professor if you're willing to work for a good grade.
This man knows his history and is very excited about it! His lectures were always lively. If you take good notes and follow along in class, his tests are easy. Extra credit essays questions are given before tests so you can prepare. No reason to fail this class.
Great teacher, however you must ATTEND CLASS AND TAKE GOOD NOTES. Don't waste your money on the book, I tried to use it once but the material in my notes differed from it greatly and the tests are on the notes. Known the bonus question answers, it will raise your tests a letter grade if you do. History is boring (chem major) but he isn't bad.
He's a good teacher but lectures all the time. He has notes on the board everyday and you have to pay attention to everything he says. The tests are hard, and you have to go to class in order to pass his class. To me the book was helpful because it went into more detail than he did.
LOTS OF NOTES! Must be able to listen while you take notes to understand them! Gives lots of extra credit for people who go to class, ESPECIALLY EVERY FRIDAY AFTER THE EXAMS, but no study guides for tests. I only used the book to clear up questions I had about the notes.
Very Hard class, not exactly the class, but the exams are hard. Its one of a, b, c being different choices (all making sense) and d being all of the above. Attendance isnt really required but you will take a lot of notes, so its a good idea to go to class. He talks about a lot of things THAT ARE NOT IN THE TEST.Overall, he wasnt really helpful to me.
Great teacher, funny guy. Lots of notes, but if you go to the study groups before the tests, there's no reason to not get an A. Overall a fun and easy class.
This is one professor you need to take if you have any interest in US History at all. GO TO CLASS! He gives 5 bonus points to your final grade if you show up every day he decides to take attendance, and that's usually the rainy days when nobody shows up.
Took US Hist of Religion with Dr woods. He may be the most intelligent man I have ever met. Class is hard, you must take notes while listening and then supplement the notes with txtbook. Tests are multiple choice and essay. Not an easy class but very interesting and engaging. Dynamic speaker
Dude was funny as hell, which makes class a lot easier to attend. He knows his stuff and care about students who care about the material. Can be an easy A if you take notes and study them.
Had him for an upper level history and U.S. history freshman year. He is funny and smart as hell. He knows just about everything off the top of his head. He isn't too hard and will help you if you need it. Test are multiple choice and essay. Good teacher, would take his course again.
I'm gonna start off by saying i HATE history. I always had. Until i took Dr. Woods' class. He is extremely funny and is very intelligent. That being said he doesn't dumb anything down. If you don't wanna take good notes or not go to class don't take his class. But if you actually want to learn something take his class. I got an A, hating history.
The best History teacher I've ever had hands down. His knowledge of the material is beyond great. Never once did i see him look at any notes for himself. Hilarious as well, he makes it easy to learn by cracking jokes about some of the material. Very understanding and helpful but you must go to class! if you study and go to class its an easy A.
I absolutely hate history and made an A. Dr. Woods is really funny and wants you to pass. You have to study hard for tests but there is no homework or classwork needed.TAKE HIM!
Dr. Woods was by far the best professor I've ever had. His class was entertaining and easy, he gives a lot of extra credit on tests and he definitely knows his stuff! Wonderful class and professor, I would take any class he teaches.
Dr. Woods was the best professor I've had so far. It's obvious he knows his history. There are only 4 tests, but the questions come from the powerpoints. I hardly refered to the book. He also offers extra credit for attendence. If you get a chance, take him!
Dr Woods is a great teacher and I enjoyed listening to him lecture even though I found his tests to be difficult. I am not good at multiple choice tests. I got a C in the class but it wasn't his fault. I still enjoyed it.
Dr. Woods is an incredible history professor. Although it is evident that he is highly intelligent, he is very humble. He knows history very well and has a great teaching style. The best part about Dr. Woods is hi excellent sense of humor. He makes class fairly easy if you make an effort. Tests are straightforward, and he's very reasonable.
Dr. Woods is very intelligent, but he doesn't boast. He has a wonderful sense of humor and finds things to relate the information to. He lectured all class, which could get boring, but as long as you studied the notes, you were fine for the tests. Dr. Woods was an amazing history teacher! I would definitely recommend taking his class!
Dr. Woods is a great professor! He is like a walking encyclopedia. Go to class and take good notes. Test questions come straight from them. Study and you will do fine!
I hated history, but I LOVED this class. He's a very traditional professor, and I have a lot of respect for him. He gets really into his lectures, and he REALLY knows what he's talking about! All the tests come straight from the notes, so you don't have to use the book, but you do have to pay attention and study.
Dr. Woods is a very smart man who loves history. His tests on strictly on his lectures, so I would suggest attending his class. He is very willing to help you.
Dr. Woods is brilliant and an expert in his field. He's written several books on US History, which he does not make you buy. He teaches almost solely off lectures, and he does provide the power points a couple of days before the tests, but your best bet is to pay attention in lecture. Always do the extra credit essay on tests!
Attendance is not mandatory but you have to go to do well on the tests. He gives away test questions in his lectures. Never even opened the book.
LOVED the guy but you don't necessarily have to go to class all the time. Honestly usually only went the week before the test and the days i thought he would be taking attendance for extra credit (usually fridays before or after a break or holiday) then took the night before to study like all of the notes he put one folio with flashcards. made a B!
He rambles a lot, however he knows his information. Gives points to overall grade if you're in class the 5 times he takes attendance. The only grades are 4 tests so if you're not that type of person that does good on tests I would not recommend this professor. Also he gives A LOT of information 25-30 slides per class.
He is an excellent speaker and it always amazes me at how much detail he knows. Doesn't reallu test you on a lot of the details. He is a great professor.
I recommend taking him if you are willing to study before the test. All grades come from 4 tests but he drops one test grade. Takes attendance on five random days, usually Fridays, and each day you are there, you get a point on your final grade. His lectures are full of information and are usually funny. Know the material.
He is amazing! Honestly my favorite class to go to, he is very intelligent and very easy to listen to. He has hard test but if you pay attention and study you should do fine.
Dr. Woods was great! I took his class in the Spring semester. He uses powerpoints and lectures for all classes. His tests were made of of multiple choice & 3 essay questions. Actually have to study for tests!! Attendance was not mandatory but he adds points onto final grade if you show on Fridays. Great teacher!
Dr. Woods was a good teacher. He does study sessions before every tests, and he gives you the answers to the short answer questions. freshmen, take him. everybody, take him.
Professor Woods was probably my favorite teacher this past semester. Although his lectures can be lengthy, he is hilarious and more than willing to help. He makes an otherwise boring class interesting and funny. He doesn't take away from your grade if you skip, but if you're there on certain days he will add to your overall grade-great professor
Drops the lowest test grade so do well on the first three, you just have to show up for the final but he drops it. Attendance isnt mandatory but get extra points for showing up. Long lectures. Test are straight forward, just study. Extra credit essays on each test which he gives you the answer to during lecture. EASY CLASS IF YOU SHOW UP AND STUDY
Go to class and look at lectures all day. Good if u want to pass and don't care about your gpa. He's not helpful and mean.
He's kinda funny & holds great study sessions which I definetely recommended attending but his tests are tough & there's only four. Drops lowest test & adds one point to overall grade if you're there for all of his surprise attendance checks. Overall decent professor
Such a great guy! He does more than just tell you dates. He gives stories and tells jokes to help you remember. He does hold study sessions and he gives extra credit for attendance (mostly on Fridays). Take him!
You have to attend EVERY lecture and STUDY to be able to Ace his tricky tests. Tests ask specific questions which can be "All of the Above" or "None of the Above." Some questions'll come from anecdotes he tells in class. It helps to cross-ref material w/ the book. Expresses total conservative viewpoints and can be curt. Nice during office hrs tho.
Great professor! Class isnt madatory, but extra credit is given if you show up on certain days, also final grade and essay questions on tests. Make sure to study at least a few days in advance and go to study seesion if you want to pass the tests. Make sure you ask questions or it doesnt help. Lectures can get off topic, but he gets the info in.
Dr. Woods really knows his stuff when it comes to history. His tests aren't that difficult if you study the slides which he puts online. He also gives extra credit essays at the end of the test. He tells you the essay topics and tells you the answers to them during lectures. You also get extra credit attendance points mainly on Fridays so show up!
Professor Woods was my favorite prof this semester. Hes great at teaching the material and will take notice if you are in class and paying attention. There is no homework, no quizes, and attendance isnt mandatory but it DEFINITELY helps. He posts all powerpoint notes online and gives bonus points on each test. Overall a nice guy and great teacher!!
He a great professor probably one of the best. His test are not hard, but they can be very tricky if you don't take good notes or don't pay attention to his lectures.
He is a pretty good professor. He takes attendance at the beginning of the semester 5 times randomly. He uses those 5 points towards your FINAL grade. It made me go from a "C" to a "B". He gives extra credit essays on each test; which can give you up to 15 extra points towards your test grade. His multiple choice test are REALLY hard so it helps.
Woods is cool. He lectures for a few weeks (no hw, no quizzes) and then gives you a test. He IS the book (he talks like he was really there) so dont buy it. Dont miss class because he tests on exactly what he SAYS. Come to class because he gives extra credit for attendance that you WILL need. PAY ATTENTION, GO TO THE REVIEW SESSIONS, & TAKE NOTES!!
His personality and lessons are crazy and loud, but they are also funny and enjoyable. He tells you a majority of what questions are going to be on test, and he gives you the essay prompts. His test are not easy, but they're not hard either... so study!!!! This class can be boring, but he makes class go by super fast. I liked him.
He was a great teacher. If you ask for a before test question session he'll do it and basically you can ask if something is on the test and he'll tell you yes or no. If you actually pay attention you'll be interested and he's honestly the smartest man I've ever met.
He is such a sweet man. His lectures are interesting since theyre more like stories. Hes really funny, and makes a boring subject like history really fun and intersting. Attendance is not mandatory, but you definitely will not pass the tests if you do not show up. He offers up to 15pts extra credit on every test and drops your lowest grade
Dr. Woods is a very good professor and very intelligent in what he is teaching. He gives 5 extra credit points for class attendance throughout semester. Highly recommend!
Nice guy, really knows history. Hes basically the book so no need to get one. 4 non cumulative tests are the only grades in the class. Hell drop the lowest one. 5 days of class hell take attendance and if youre there its extra credit added to your FINAL GRADE. Overall pretty good class. I learned a lot and recommend
Dr. Woods is extremely disorganized with is lectures. He moves through lectures extremely fast. Frequently the lectures consist of him reading out loud to the class from his own book, the textbook, or something he has written. He is dismissive, will sometimes not call on students with hands raised, and requires long papers.
Professor Woods is a great professor! His lectures can be long but they can be interesting. Show up to class and his tests are pretty easy. Tests are based off of the lecture, no textbook needed. There are 4 tests and the lowest one is dropped. Plus he offers extra credit. Would definitely recommend!
Take this class! At first I was nervous because the only grades you have are 4 tests, (he drops your lowest one) but the tests are not hard at all if you come to class and study. He even randomly tells you what may or not be on the test, as well as holds sessions so that you can ask what will be on the test. The class is not bad at all.
I've never had a professor more passionate and enthusiastic about his lectures. He REALLY knows his stuff. You don't need the book because he knows it word for word. He also gives extra credit (5 points randomly throughout the semester so come to class). Best part? He holds study sessions twice a week before the test. If you study, you'll do great
The entire class was in the RU. If you learn well in small classrooms, sit at the front or you WILL fail. The only thing you have to do is show up and take notes, but take as detailed notes as possible. Showed up every day, took notes, tried to focus, and I still failed. Was a mix of him being unorganized lecturer and too big of a class for me.
I've never seen anyone more passionate about history in my life. Woods knows just about everything there is to know about history so the man can teach. He gives 5 points to your class average if you sign role the five times he gives it our during the semester. His tests are ALL based on his notes so show up and take his notes. TAKE WOODS FOR U.S.
I took dr woods for Religion and Ga history and he was awesome!!! He lectures the whole class time usually but they are great and interesting lectures. He gives around 5 or more extra credit points on days people do not come to class. 3-4 tests and 2-3 book reviews are your only grades but study and read and you will be okay! Take Woods!!!!!!
The only good thing about this class is that if you study the lectures, you'll pass. Other than that it's like nails on a chalkboard. His lectures are beyond boring, he's quite rude and offensive, and there's only four tests (but he drops one) so if you don't do well at them you have ZERO chance. So if studying the powerpoints sounds good, fine
If you plan on just writing down what he has on the powerpoint slides, good luck. He writes them like he's taking notes for himself and they're impossible to decipher! If you're taking this class you'd really benefit from bringing your laptop, copying and pasting the slides to your notes, and adding notes as he talks.
His tests are always non-cumulative! Each test comes straight from the notes, but there are a lot of notes for every test you need to study. Each test has an extra credit essay that he tells you the answers to ahead of time, and each essay is worth 15 points. He takes attendance 5 random times in the semester, each adds 1 point to your average!!!
The only way to do well in this class is to attend and take notes. Theres only 4 grades for the whole semester which are all non-cumulative tests- he drops the lowest. He takes attendance 5 times a semester, and for each time youre there, you get a point added to your final grade. He allows you to record his lectures so thats your best bet.
Very easy class, can be boring to sit through all the lectures but Dr. Woods keeps it interesting. Gives extra credit for coming to class on certain days. Tests can be kinda difficult and very nit-picky.
Dr. Woods is amazing and makes his lectures interesting. But, I suck at History and found his tests to be very specific. I am a straight A student, and still genuinely struggled to get above an 85. There are 4 tests total (drops lowest one), and a chance for 5 extra points overall. If you go to the lectures and take good notes you should do fine.
Dr. Woods is an excellent teacher, and a very funny teacher as well. His class consists of 5 tests, and he drops the lowest. He takes attendance 5 random times throughout the semester, and if youre there he will add 1 point each time to your final grade. His tests arent that hard, study and youll blow them out the water. Skip class? No pass.
woods is very funny but his lectures are extremely boring. Take random attendance through semester and drops lowest test grade.
I know it says skip class? wont pass, but i cannot stress that enough. Yes, he posts the powerpoints online but those are USELESS if you dont attend lectures. The test is just from his lectures and he will tell you what is on them. For every test he offers an extra credit essay which is a big point booster. Do it if you can! Overall, good professor
Such a good professor! I hate history, but I loved his class. There are only 3 exams and a non-cumulative final, he offers up to 15 bonus points on each exam, completely drops your lowest exam grade, and offers up to 5 points on top of your final class grade for attendance. Such an easy and enjoyable class, as long as you show up and pay attention.
All of the exams were multiple choice and had extra credit essays. There were random attendance checks for which if you were there that day you get a point of extra credit. He posts the lectures online and the exams are mostly based on them. He also tells what the extra credit essays will be so you can prepare for them. I highly recommend taking
He gives 3 test and a final, he drops the lowest grade. Those test are the only thing he does for grades. Literally if you don't go to class you won't pass because his test come from his lectures not the power points. Random attendance checks to give little bit of extra credit. Really boring so don't take the class in the mornings!
I enjoyed this class, even though I don't really like history. Dr. Woods gives lectures that can be boring, but he will tell you what you need to know. Grades based solely on four tests, he drops the lowest one, and if you have an A or B average after the third one you're exempt from taking the final. Tests are based on lectures/slides. Take him!
Definitely an amazing professor! I took him Fall 2020 for HIST 2110 and he made the class not so dull. He does assign extra reading thats not in the textbook and there are questions from the reading on your quiz and test but if you read it youll do well. I enjoyed his teaching style so much Im taking him for HIST 4130 in fall 2021
