Mr. Wrights class was the best! The class discussion is very interesting and the reading material was outstanding. I will definitely miss this one. But don't be fooled, you do have to work in this class. Not a slacker course but very much worth the effort. A fun one!

i took him during summer I. he has quizes almost everyday for the first 2 weeks. i failed almost all of them, but i passed all of the writing assignments.he allows students to rewrite their papers for a better grade. he's a interesting teacher to listen to, i got a B in his class. take him if you like to think out of the box and class discussions.

Take notes. Read the topics he assigns; he has quizes on most of them. But, the grade doesn't depend much on it. He'll give u a chance to resubmit ur essay for a better grade. Very understanding, if you take interest in the class. Appreciates your efforts. Highly recommended to those who like writing, and have interest in current affairs!

Class requires engagement and attendance. Professor gives lectures and reading assignments that must be paid attention to and completed to pass. Your comprehension is tested through quizzes and essays. I found him to be a very good professor but you have to do the work to pass. There is no sliding in his class. Easy to pass if you work hard.

Quite frankly, I don't understand these comments. He was very attentive and explained each essay topic and project thoroughly. His quiz answers are broad so, they are easy to answer. I had him for English 1,2 and Film. I got an A on all three. He is sarcastic and his class is very interest. He gives great eye contact and knows his topic well.

This guy grades essays hard. But let u resubmit them before the last day of class. His online assignments are cool as he gives you full credit just for reaching the word limit required. I got 70's in all my essays but resubmitted them and finally got an A in class! :)

Took this professor in the second start and was able to get a good grade because he's very helpful. He does however expect you to work hard for your grade and requires long essays to be written, 5+ pages. His grading however, is pretty lenient. I'd recommend taking him in the regular term. He also responds to emails right away

Despite the horrible reviews,he's literature and film class was actually intresting!! Attendance was not necessary, book was not necessarily. We only had 2 essays, 2 exams and one presentation. He grades really hard but he was always there to help me when ever.He's very smart too and hot. Btw all the movies we watched were rate R :)

Not a super easy course, you do have to read and use your brain. I don't why some reviews say his class is super hard, it is challenging and that's what I loved about this course. By the way the fact that he is a super hottie was a bonus ;)

Tests are pretty easy. However when it comes to essays he is a really tough grader. Seems pretty helpful for the most part though. And personally I do NOT know where people are getting the idea that he is hot cause he isn't.....

This is my first year back in school after being out for 10 years and taking his class reminded me how bright of a student I am. He's extremely intelligent and it can be a bit intimidating but over all he is a great teacher and gives great lectures. I'm definitely wanting to take his class for 1302. Oh and No Textbook!!

I highly recommend taking Dr. Wright! He teaches the subject based on interesting topics and you do not need to get a book for his class. He grades very tough on the first paper, but he gave our class a chance to redo it before the semester was over. Do what is on the syllabus, apply yourself and you will definitely pass if not get an A.

I took Dr. Wright's lit/film class. Fantastic professor, i took his class as a blow off, and found it to be quite engaging. As long you show up pay attention and read what he asks you too it should be a walk in the park. Answers and clarifies any questions you may have, and grades you soley based on the effort you put forward. TAKE HIM!

Took him for 8 week -second starts. You need to work hard,he is clear with the assignment. You can re submit first paper to make up grade. He will help you if you missed an 'A' even by 5% of total grade. I got like 85% and still got an A.

This guy is awesome! He puts everything you need on the Learning Web or on Eagle online. Grading criteria is pretty clear. He's available for questions after class. I took as a Summer 2 5wk course. We had lots of reading, 2 tests, 3/4 quizzes, 3 forums, 1 annotated bib, and 2 essays. Go to class and do all the assignments and you will pass.

He's a fantastic teacher. He cares about you learning more than anything, he'll help you make a good grade if he can see that you care. Never heard a teacher ask "what do you all think?" more than him.

One of the most engaging professors I've ever encountered. Every class consists of a class discussion rather than a lecture, and he truly respects and values different opinions, which make the class even more interesting. Only problem is that there really is only 5 major assignments, so if you perform poorly on one it can determine your class grade

Great lectures, engages students and provides us with reading materials so we don't have to spend so much money on books. He makes the class entertaining and as long as you read the materials and have an idea of what you are writing about you'll be set.

His lectures are great and I have genuinely learned to write better. This is a class where you have to earn your grade. 2 big essays and a few discussions throughout the semester that will help you find a position in your essays. He's tough but it's manageable if you put in your all.

James Wright is an amazing professor, most of the time he'll give you feedback on your work. The best part; "No-Textbook Required". I wouldn't say class is easy, but definitely easier than my other classes.

I took his Online Anytime class in Fall 2020. We had short quizzes, discussions that were due Sunday 5 pm (which was confusing sometimes), and three major essays. He gives good feedback and helps you improve on your essays which showed in my grades. I would say that I'm definitely taking him for ENGL1302.

I took Professor Wright's ENGL1301 class in Fall 2020 and it has been my best experience for any English class at HCC so far. The essay and discussion topics are interesting . If you take this class, you will be learning and becoming a better writer. Don't expect a good grade if you don't do the work. There is a lot of work but its manageable.

I think he's an amazing teacher. It was a lot of reading in the beginning but not the ending of class. He broke all of his lessons down if you didn't understand it's because you didn't want to or wasn't paying attention. I will take him for 1302 if I need it in the future.
