You definitely need to know the material well for the tests, but he's so much fun to listen to lecture. Very funny man. Worth taking biology from!

You learn a lot in his class, and you do have to stay on top of things to do well. He is a very good teacher, and even though it was a 3 hour class, I loved going to it. He is very clear in his explanations, and willing to help. His class is not a waste of money, tis good.

I took Dr. Yount for General Biology, General Biology 2, and Microbiology. He can be intimidating at first, but is very funny and loves to joke around. He is a great teacher with hilaroius stories and ways of explaining things. His tests really aren't that hard like everyone says. You have to LISTEN to his lectures and write your own notes.

If you don't regularly attend, listen, take notes, and read in your book, then of course you'll find the class much harder. But I highly recommend! Its very interesting, and Dr. Yount gives very good and informative lectures. One of the best teachers I've had, unless you are a bum, take this class!

Great teacher. Made most classes interesting and I really learned a lot in his class. Always around and ready to help out. The labs were fun and tests were hard, but if you studied with his objectives, it was easy to follow along and get a good grade. Overall an awesome teacher.

Dr. Yount may be a hard instructor, but that is because he expects his student to actually learn and comprehend the materials presented. If you want to know your Anatomy & Physiology, he is the professor for you. Very entertaining, so learning is not a chore. His class is designed to allow success, you just have to be willing to do the work.

Dr. Yount is one of the best professors at BCC. His classes are not easy, but you will learn a lot! He's great at using simple analogies to explain complex ideas. He can come off as an arrogant jerk sometimes, especially towards students who are slacking. Nice guy though, and responsible for turning many regular students into science majors. =)

by far one of the best teachers i have had in college yet. Certainly not the easiest tho. If you do not put in your time, you will not do well. He expects you to learn, not just sit there like a lump. Getting an A is possible, but you will work very hard for it. His lectures are great.

I took A & P 2 and Microbiology with Dr. Yount. He was an amazing professor and I would recommend anyone who wants to learn and is willing to work for it. He has a knack for helping you understand the hardest of concepts. Getting a letter of recommendation was better than getting an A in his class!

I took general bio and it was one of my toughest classes at the time. Tests are hard, so it's definitely not a class for slackers (also expect lots of group work). Yount is a tough teacher but you can learn a lot from him. He frequently goes off on tangents but always comes back to his point. His stories are hilarious making lectures enjoyable.

Best teacher I've ever had, period. I've taken his bio, micro, a&p 1 and a&p 2 classes. He's hilarious and if someone misunderstands his humor they're a putz. He's highly intelligent and has a natural knack for teaching. Mrs. Yount is a lucky woman.

Professor Yount is a very interesting teacher, never boring and you find yourself thinking beyond the norm of how most people think. He is very knowledgeable & detailed with his courses, & wants you to succeed. You will get an A if you actually do what he asks and print & read the syllabus & objectives. Good prep for medical school!

Dr. Yount is an excellent professor to take if you want to be prepared for any allied health science field.I took him for General Biology and A&P I, and felt educated going into the Radiography program.You have to work for your grades by attending lectures, participating in labs, and studying the OBJECTIVES!If you these things your A will be earned

I would highly recommend taking Dr. Yount's Intro to Environmental Science online course. You'll learn alot! Just be sure to read all of the books he recommends, follow the syllabus, do your assignments and don't try to take shortcuts. Dr. Yount tests you exactly as the "Objectives" state. No tricks, he's fair and a straight shooter. Go green:)

This professor is one of the most thorough teachers I have ever known. You will need to take the Objectives given very seriously if you plan to succeed. I learned way more than I bargained for in this General Biology class. Extremely colorful and interesting lectures keep you awake (even at 8 am!). I never thought science could be so much fun!

This professor provides excellent instruction in microbiology. If you work hard, do the research required for writing lab reports and don't complain about your lab partner you'll succeed. Objectives are clearly outlined.

Dr Yount is an interesting teacher and he makes biology fun to learn. His class can be hard, but if you read each chapter before coming to class, everything will be easy and make sense. His labs are pretty easy too. You might think his tests are hard, but he igves 10% extra credit on each test.

Good teacher, hard class. Thank god he offers extra credit on the tests and labs. He can be pretty funny, but sometimes he says some inappropriate things without realizing he has 15 and 16 year olds in his class. He can seem pretty intimidating, but he does want to help you. MUCH better than Dr Gay (never take him). I'd recommend Dr Yount.

You'll be prepared for nursing or med school when you finish. Keep it professional and stay focused on material. Don't read too much into his friendly demeanor, he's just very expressive. Loved his ballet dancing. Got an A but worked very hard for it. Learned alot in the process. Also learned a valuable life science? lesson wasn't expecting ;-)

Dr.Yount is awesome. He really cares about what he is teaching and his students. Passed out in class and he came to check up on me at the ER. Learned a lot. You have to be pretty stupid and lazy to get a bad grade. All you have to do is do your labs and study. Not a lot of work.

Took for biology and a&p. If you're majoring in medical this teacher will definitely prepare you! Tough teacher, but he knows his stuff and will make sure you know it too! A lot of labs, studying and memorization. Excellent teacher

Great class! I took Anatomy & Physiology I with Dr. Yount and he was great. You can tell he enjoys teaching and gives great study advice. I am a better student after taking this class!

Stick with him and you'll actually learn what you need to learn for medical and/or nursing school. Sure there are easier teachers out there. All Pre-med courses should be taught with this care and concern. Would you want someone sticking a needle in you that couldn't spell hemoglobin? Spelling errors on medical charts can be fatal. Think about it.

Really enjoyed this class. Although he is tough Dr Yount is a great teacher and very clear, using good examples making sure you get it. I'm taking him for A&P II as well as Micro this fall.

Lots of people say he is a hard teacher but to be quite honest he makes the class much easier than it could be.Gives wonderful outlines and notes with questions to prepare you for the test.Just scan through his notes and book answers.I felt like this class was easier than my A&PI class with a different teacher.

Took him for General Biology, AP I, and Micro Biology. He facilitates a good learning environment. He has a wealth of knowledge. If you listen during his lectures his analogies are absolutely hilarious and catchy. At times he can be a bit rude when you ask him a question. He is hard, but read the book, go to class, pay attention.

Very astute professor that is well educated in the art of science education. I don't mean that he knows everything there is to know about science or biology. I mean he has a Ph.D. in SCIENCE EDUCATION, unlike other biology instructors that didn't learn teaching methodology in graduate school. There is a drastic difference. This guy's a gem.

Anyone who didn't do well in his class got their deserved grade. This professor gives you EVERYTHING you need and then some. He even gives you exactly what you need to know for his exams. Attend his classes, know the objectives. Easy A. I took A&P 1 and 2 and Microbiology with him.

I am very glad I took this class. Dr.Yount is an outstanding professor. He is very intelligent. He provides all of the course guidelines, study tips, lab materials, and all info possible to pass and excel in Anatomy and Phy. I absolutely loved the way he teaches. Take Dr Yount he is fantastic. It took me a while to adjust to his sarcastic remarks when you ask him a question. I avoided asking him anything. His teaching style and examples were extremely helpful. I would recommend him as long as you are motivated enough to not need too much help. Overall, I enjoyed both AP1 & AP2 with Dr. Yount.

I really liked Dr. Yount. Between his lectures and reading the chapters in the book you had everything you needed to know for the test. Tests are looong, around 120 multiple choice questions and then a lab practical. Study and you should be fine.

First of all, the people that are saying he is demeaning towards them when asked a question, no he's not,he has a dry sense of humor, he knows what he's teaching and really tries to help students succeed,easy to learn and makes class fun and worth coming to, even helps teach real life situations. I would take his classes any day.

Great professor! Most people that I saw struggling were the ones that didn't show up for all the lectures, didn't print out notes like he'd suggested, fell behind on labs, and didn't do extra credit. You earn your grade. I asked him a ton of questions and he always answered. Some people have low self esteem and feel uncomfortable asking questions

Dr Yount is awesome! He has a great personality and makes his class fun. I'm taking him for Microbiology and it's very fast paced but he makes sure that everyone is up to speed and actually cares if we do well. I recommend taking him for any science class as long as you have determination and common sense. He just gets it and is a great teacher.

If you go to class and actively listen to him you'll do well in his class. I took him for an 8 am lecture twice a week and I've actually never fallen asleep in his class. His lectures are very informative but also pretty funny. He's a nice guy who wants people to understand basic bio, he's the department head so to keep an A you have to study.

Good class, but it was quite hard. As long as you take all of his suggestions you will be fine. Not as hard as some make it out to be, but if you don't do the work don't expect great results. Get a good lab partner who knows what they are doing and who you work well with early in the class. Form study groups and STUDY STUDY STUDY before every test

Professor Yount is an excellent teacher and cares about your success in the class. He keeps his lectures informative, interesting and well paced. He provides the majority of the notes in PDF form which is very helpful. The tests do contain a lot of information, but aren't too bad as long as you read the chapters and know the objectives.

Dr. Yount is a great professor. He can be tough but his teaching tactics are very helpful for future classes andor career. His test require you to put in a good amount of study time which really helps you learn. He's very helpful with grades and great to talk to when you need help with the course. Highly recommend!

Great teacher, hard class. If you're taking this class, you obviously have to study. Study and complete each and EVERY objective and thoroughly go over each lab before test and you will be fine. Pay attention in class and take a week before each test to study. Flash cards and study groups. He gives 10% extra credit on each test. A is achievable.

Be prepared to read and write. Class is very interesting and Professor Yount is very knowledgeable He does give a 1 week grace period on all assignments except the last one

Great Teacher

Dr. Yount was probably one of my favorite professors. He taught me that good grades aren't just handed to you. If you want them, you gotta study and work for it. He always has a funny story to tell. He doesn't take any BS, which could be a good or bad thing. The labs are very involved and the tests can be tough. Get a good lab partner & study!

Dr. Yount is an amazing teacher who knows what he is talking about. Tests are reasonable (if you studied) and you get an automatic 10% added to your tests. His lectures are very interesting, and he goes over all the material on exams.

He is a great teacher. Really helps students understand anatomy. Study over his unit objectives and study after class at the models he has in class and you should be great. You're going to work hard but in the end he teaches very well.

He makes you work for it and you have to really know the material. He is hilarious and related concepts to everyday life. Do all of your labs on time and reference them because of practicals.

He knows what he is teaching. He makes it easy to remember the hard stuff with everyday examples. Talks a lot and does not like to be interrupted. He is mostly in his office if not in class so he is easy to find and ask questions. Doesn't have a grade catagory on canvas which is annoying so you never know your grade.

I just finished Environmental Science Online, and I will say it was a lot of work and assignments. But if you do them well you will get an A. There is only one test which I failed and still ended with an A in the class. He gives a 7 day grace period for late assignments! I could get an entire assignment done in a couple hours no problem.

Dr. Yount is a great professor. As long as you participate and study the lectures (which are all posted online) you should be able to pass with an A or B. Material is difficult but the labs are the worst! Don't miss a lab or you will lose out on a lot of points. ALOT of labs with essay questions. Nice curve on tests. Get a good lab partner!!

As someone who is awful at science, Yount was definitely my best bet for biology. Lectures were long but bearable. As long as you complete the labs and extra credit modules and STUDY, this class is not too difficult.

I am horrible at science but I didn't mind Yount's class. All the information I needed for the tests I got from his lectures (I didn't open my book once). The tests are hard but if you study even just a little they're not so bad. Yount is hilarious, couldn't have asked for a better bio teacher. Do the labs and pay attention and you'll be fine.

Best professor I ever had. He never just sits and read his powerpoint like almost every other professor you would have. For the first time in many semesters, I was coming out of the lecture with information retained. His lectures are interesting and he won't get mad if you ask him questions. But you do have to study in his class.

I was worried going into the class because I had heard not to take bio with Dr Yount but he was probably my favorite professor I had at EFSC. His lectures are really good and the labs helped me understand what we were learning. As long as you study before the tests and take notes youll do fine. (I do recommend watching crash course videos too)

Dr. Yount is hands down one of my favorite professors. He's funny and makes lectures so interesting, making it easier to absorb information. He's brilliant, definitely knows every subject he teaches very well. You have to put in the work to earn your grade, but it just makes it that much more rewarding. Highly recommend him to everyone!!

Absolutely hilarious guy makes lectures really fun. He says things in a way that you will remember them during the tests and everything is very straight forward, there's no trick questions or surprises.

Funny, encourages feedback in class, and pretty good about telling you exactly whats going to be on tests and practicals. Hes pretty understanding and willing to work with you when necessary. Read the material. Take notes. Encourages group study. Open book tests.

Took him for Biology, great class but it was super hard. Do not take this class unless you are willing to work very hard. Always read the lab manuals before class and don't miss a lab. Learned a lot, but also did a lot of work. Pay attention to the lectures and lab instructions or you WILL fall behind.

While Professor Yount challenged me, he was an excellent teacher. He is a good lecturer and was able to actually teach the material in a way that was easy to understand. His tests were hard and he has high expectations. He is quick to answer questions and respond to emails. If you are not scared of studying and actually learning, he is awesome.

The lab practicals are covered by what you did in the lab. Watch the Amoeba Sisters. He's been teaching for a long time, and you can tell. Great professor!

I loved every minute of my experience with Professor Yount! His lectures are incredibly informational and you can tell he truly knows what he is talking about. There are no curveballs with Yount, everything on his tests are covered in lectures. He is definitely one of the best professors I have ever had!

Professor Yount was and still is one of my favorite professors. I took him for A&P 1&2. These courses are not easy courses. You must study but he truly gives the resources needed to pass the course. These classes were a lot of fun for me and I learned more than I have in any other course.

I have taken multiple courses with Dr. Yount and I enjoyed my time in all of them. Microbiology is very lab heavy so expect to have lots of lab reports. His lectures are engaging and easy to understand which makes the exams highly doable. He is a great professor with a silly personality, just do the assigned work and you will excel.
