Never had a problem, not a single one. Is VERY cool about attendance, six absences allowed no questions asked. After that watch out. Just follow his revision instructions and you're set. Easy and informative, all papers no tests. Friendly, likes his job.

One of the coolest professors I've had so far. Attendance is loose, but class is usually interesting if you do go. He is very willing to help you with your papers. The class is easy, and I really don't understand how anyone could dislike this guy.

Class is really relaxed and usually just talk about an article he brings in. You don't have to be in class often because you really aren't missing anything. There are 4 papers for the semester, which you chose the topic of. Take this class. Easy A.

Amazing! He makes a rhetorical history class something you hate to miss. He wants you to learn and to apply what you're learning to life. He wants you to write on things you care about. Do not pass him up if you get the chance.

He's fantastic! Really wants you to learn to write well. He's always available to answer questions or discuss your paper ideas. Plus he's funny! And he usually lets you out of class way early to go be "independent writers."

i thought this class was going to suck, but it turned out to be my favorite of my 1st semester. He is awesome (he lets us call him Jim)- he has a great sense of humor and is really witty. You will write 4 papers on whatever you want- so it's actually kind of fun. Take this class for gwrit. he rocks

Dr. Zimmerman is a pretty easy going teacher. Only 4 papers and they are on whatever you want. Very helpful through email. Cancels class alot and lets us out early almost every day. Helps your writing with lots of peer editing, all which is in class. Easy B

GREAT teacher. He is really friendly and helpful and understands that we (gasp) have other classes and cannot always get to class or turn in things on time. He cancels class a lot (about 8 times this semester so far!) and when we do have class, he keeps it interesting and fun. A great class, even if you are not an english/writing major!

Dr. Zimmerman was by far one of my favorite professors at JMU! He is sincerely interested in his students and even makes a point to learn every student's name! Only 4 papers on whatever you want, and he will help you in any way possible! I highly recommend!

TAKE HIM IF YOU CAN! He is so nice and helps you out in any way he can. You only write 4 papers the whole semester on anything you want. You don't use the book at all, so you probably shouldn't buy it. Almost always lets you out of class early. I definitely enjoyed this class... he so funny, too! Overall, best class of my semester.

I hate engligh and I hate to write but Dr Zimmerman is the best english teacher I have ever had. He does an extremly good job of making class entertaining, and is one the more friendly teachers you will encounter. Futhermore he is an extremly fair grader and almost always lets you write your papers about whatever you want.

Great professor! Only 4 papers throughout the semester and he is a pretty easy grader. His syllabus says attendance is required, but he rarely takes it and its easy to skip and not miss anything. He is very relaxed but still a great professor. Take him if you can!

Awesome teacher. Goofy and interesting to listen to. Only four essays, and he is an easy grader but still takes time to make comments. Always willing to e-mail with you to help with essays. Always lets you out early, and randomly doesn't have class. Attendance is mandatory, but he never takes it. Skipping is easy and you wont miss much.

He is a great teacher who always keeps class a descent experience. The guy is pretty funny and a great professor to have. Has back round in writing so he can be pretty helpful. You don't have to read the book so don't bother buying it. 4 essay assignments that are graded tough. I would recommend this teacher and if you try hard, easy A.

the way zimmerman talks reminds me of the type of professor you'd see in a movie. i like the guy. class is really easy, you can skip 3/4 of them and be completely fine. don't even buy the book. easy A or B class but you DO NOT learn a single thing about writing. this class is only good for a gpa boost.

this guy is so chill. grade is 4 essays on whatever topics u want. u don't have to read any books like the other gwrit classes do. sometimes we were in class for 10 minutes. and he cancelled class a lot too. if u get this guy u should be very happy

He is an awesome professor, he is so nice and really wants to help you become a better writer. There are only 4 essays over the semester and each one is longer but you get to pick all your own topics. He canceled class a lot too but I will really miss that man, I enjoyed that class so much!

Proffesor Zimmerman is awesome. The class is really chill and he uses the Breeze as the textbook. The class is really easy and he's a pretty easy grader, too. Some classes would only last about 10 minutes. Definitely take Zimmerman for your GWRTC requirement

When given the chance, take Professor Zimmerman! "The Breeze" is your textbook, you can write about whatever you want or get ideas from "The Breeze." Extremely helpful and an enjoyable class.

If you like easy papers, the Breeze as your textbook, having class canceled, and having 20 minute classes, then take Zimmerman. He grades papers on pretty much one main thing: teach him something interesting. I'm still in the class now, but it's been great so far. TAKE HIM TAKE HIM TAKE HIM TAKE HIM FRESHMEN.

Very funny professor! He is so cool! You do have a few papers to complete but they are easy. You also must create a web presence which is actually a lot of fun. He makes you talk to fellow classmates which I won't complain about. ^_^ Overall he is a great guy, he wants his students to learn and is always very helpful.

This was easily the easiest and most enjoyable class I've ever taken. You'd never have to study, the work was simple, and Zimmerman is funny and cheerful. I'd definitely take another of his classes again! We'd often get out of class very early and his classroom atmosphere is very laid back. Going to his class was never a chore.

He is the soo nice! One of the best teachers I've ever had! His classes are more discussions than lectures and he is really friendly and easy to talk to. Assignments and quizzes are easy. My class didn't have a final exam. We never used the textbook either. Ohh and one time he cancelled class for a week...I recommend him so much!!!

Great guy. Very understanding, very helpful and a guy you would be happy to just talk to. He is very insightful and always has a positive way to spin things. Do what he asks, it isn't too much and you'll do fine. I can also say my writing did improve (when I try) because of his feedback.

This semester was the first time Zimmerman has taught this class. He is a great teacher and I 100% recommend him. He is extremly helpful and I learned the most in this class than I have in any other WRTC class thus far.

Best writing prof. there is!!! No. 1

He is extremely nice, but goofy. There is no textbook, you are just expected to read the school newspaper and be able to discuss it. Class is always let out like 15 min short. Class is extremely easy. No need to take notes. 4 papers, no tests or final, but like 5-7 writing quizzes. They can be difficult, but are very brief, and graded very easy.

Zimmerman is a great professor. In the class you only write four papers but it's really easy to get a good grade on them. The class before the final paper is due, he allows us to read and edit each other's draft. He also lets class out 15 minutes almost every class. You should definitely take him!

Really great professor. Class was open ended and Dr. Zimmerman gave me lots of freedom with my project, which was essentially the whole class grade. Small class but Dr. Zimmerman made it into a community.

His gwrtc class consists of four papers and 7 quizzes, 5 of which count. You write a lot, but nothing to hard and if you are an okay writer you will be fine. He doesn't improve your writing that much. He makes you read the textbook but never addresses it. Also have to read the Breeze twice a week.

Professor Zimmerman is the best. DEFINITELY take his class. He is extremely helpful and genuinely cares about his students. The class consists of 4 papers, each of which allows you to write about pretty much any topic that interests you. Also, he lets class out early just about every time.

Dr. Zimmerman is one of my favorite professors at JMU! He really tries to make his classes applicable to the real world, and he always provides helpful feedback.

Has a specific grading style, but it's not terrible by any means. Easy going, intelligent, cares about students and material, etc. He's somewhat unorganized in terms of the course goals, which is most likely a result of making the class adaptable to individual students. Would probably take again.

Dr. Zimmerman was a fun, fairly light professor for WRTC 103. Fresh essay assignments for someone who felt like I didn't need this class made it more interesting (e.g. a review, and a website analysis). Did not get a lotta feedback on essays, but did not have any he really disliked. He's laid back and helpful.

By far my favorite professor! You basically get to pick your own topic for all the papers you write and he always lets you out early. He does give quizzes but they're through email and super easy and he ends up dropping the lowest one!

Best professor for an intro class. He really respects your opinion and allows you to go your own way. Most of the time youd feel like youre going really slow, but thats a reasonable pace for an intro class to the WRTC major.

Super easy. You work on one project all semester and that is your only grade but he works with you so you get an A. He's a really respected and caring man who is a great reference throughout your writing major or minor. He makes you think longterm about your goals too which is refreshing for college. Take him, you'll do well, I promise.

Professor Zimmerman is great. He's got this sort of dry, casual sense of humor that perhaps not everyone gets but that I think is very funny. He carries a positive attitude, and makes the class a fun place to be. His WRTC 103 class is very simple and fairly easily structured, and he has you focus your papers on topics of your choice.

I love Dr. Zimmerman! He is so funny, really understanding, and caring. The class can become kind of redundant at times, but I don't think it was bad at all. The readings are really interesting if you read them, and you have a lot to learn from him. He is very knowledgable and knows what he is talking about!

By far my favorite professor. His classes rarely last more than 30min and he is very direct with his lessons. Assigned topics are very broad, so you can write about something you actually care about. He is a genuinely nice guy that wants you to succeed, and he gives you many opportunities to do so. Really great professor, especially for first years

Zimmerman is the best teacher I've had at JMU. He is the reason I continued with the WRTC minor. This guy really cares about his students, gives good feedback, assigns easy material, and gives clear instructions. He allows for your creativity to show through your work & is always available Only criticism is that I wish he taught more classes!

He loves to give feedback, and he is a professional at giving constructive criticism and helping students. I look forward to taking some of the other classes that he teaches!

Professor Zimmerman is Goated, coming from someone who took him online. No lectures and few assignments. All the assignments are short email writings. Youll finish with a research paper on a topic of your choice. He responds to emails in no time and genuinely enjoys communicating and helping his students. EASY CLASS!

Professor Zimmerman is extremely chill and laid back. He always responds to any emails and his assignments are not difficult. Coursework was easy only one major paper at the end of the semester. Class was asynchronous but he did a great job still connecting with students. Very easy class and nice guy.

I took Prof Zimmerman for WRTC 200 online and it was a fantastic class. Super easy and allows so much creative freedom. He's one of the nicest and most helpful professors I've ever had. Rather than feeling like the 6th class on my course load, we only met for a few min/week & it was like a creative outlet. 10/10 recommend

Super sweet guy who seems passionate about the class. It was MW but we only met M for a few min to go over the week of things to do and then we worked on the assignments and it was due on Friday. Just email him if you need more time he's super caring

This class was so chill, we just sent him an email every week based on a tiny prompt and got a grade for it. Your main project is the portfolio, which he is happy to help you out on and is easy to do since it's just a collection of your work from past WRTC classes. Nice person and chill course! It was online and we meet once a week

He is a VERY kind person, authentic, funny, flexible, and caring about you as an individual. I would take him again if I wasnt graduating. One of the best at JMU FOR SURE!

This class was very easy. We had a couple papers, but it mostly consisted of short paragraphs he would grade as quizzes. Professor Zimmerman is genuinely just an amazing person and I would recommend his class over and over again.

Professor Zimmerman is one of the sweetest and kindest people I've ever met. He's very understanding if you need an extension or are confused. His class allowed you to explore and write about whatever you wanted and was not difficult at all. This class is very doable as a co-requisite with WRTC 201, so don't be afraid to take both at the same time.

prof. zimmerman is very sweet and an easy grader. theres four essays which you can choose what to write about for each one. there is a book he says you need for the class but it's not really used. there are ten short paragraph assignments during class. he lets you leave early and cancels class as he sees fit. he responds to emails quickly.

Professor Zimmerman is great, there are four easy essay assignments and ten very short assignments throughout the course. Attendance is not required but he appreciates when you show up. You have plenty of time to complete assignments and can send him a draft for feedback.

no readings or anything, just a few essays throughout the semester that he gives super flexible turn in dates and plenty of time with. they're sorta detailed, but he grades easy as long as u put in effort. didnt show up a lot but remembers names and was always nice. if u turn in essays early he'll give u the next one ahead of time. def take!!!
