Great teacher! Very clear and helpful.
Fair and informative, a good choice for those going on to A&P; gives extra credit assignments.
great teacher very fair and informative....loved his lectures
Jamie does a great job at presenting the material. This is not a slide by class you need to study... study ...study
NOT FAIR,OR CLEAR. FRUSTRATED TEACHER THAT COULD NOT MAKE IT IN MED SCHOOL.

very tricky tests, gives way more info than needed, when you need help he justs shruggs. study guides that have info your not testing on.
He's way hooooooooooot!!!! We love you, Jamey. Thank you for all of your help. Jamey is very clear , concise and fair. He really wants the student to succeed and learn. If there is any confusion, he will take the time to clarify it. The best lab instructor for all Anatomy & Physiology labs.
So hot? you have got to be kidding....anyhow, this is an instructor that I would avaoid, I found him to be utterly useless, and unable to understand.
Not a good teacher at all. His notes are useless because none of it is on the test. He is proud that everyone is failing his test. Worst teacher I have ever had. Stay away!!!
His laugh is like nails down a calk board!!! I hate this teacher! He doesn't give you any info for the tes. I'm in A & P now and it's soooo easy compared to human bio. It's all his fault
I found Jamie to be very helpful he has a good way of exampling things. Out of all instructors for AP lab he is by far the best!
He is an incaring person who doesn't care if his students do well or not. He should not be a teacher. He laughs if you bring valid points to change your grade, and he corrects the tests wrong, but won't change them. He is a total jerk who should be fired and never teach again!!!
All of you who think he was so great for Bio 160, try taking him in Micro! Bio 160 is the easiest class ever taken! He doesn't know anything about Micro and should not be teaching it. I ended up with a B becuase he grades like Hitler and had no notes until class ended!! WTF
Jamey is a very clear teacher. He provides you with study guides for every exam and provides you with his lecture notes so you can follow along. I have nothing but great things to say about Jamey except that when he is explaining how to do a lab, he is OVERLY THOROUGH and my attention span is just NOT that long! hehe.
He has very boring lectures and is unhelpful in lab. He does not narrow anything down, and his quizzes are confusing and not worded like his notes or the book.
Not an easy A this guy makes you work for it and he grades like Hitler, alot of essay questions on his tests and if you miss one word on them he takes almost all the points off. If there was another choice for micro I would take it. Although I thought he is great looking, so that kinda made it worth it!
He is a nice guy and the class overall is very very interesting. If you need a science/bio class this is one of the best to take. Jamey is very clear and if you read the study guide/book before the quizzes, you should do fine. Also, the projects are easy A's and count highly towards your grade. Fun + fair class.
Jamey encourages students to be competetiveloy cut throat with each other rather than work as a team, in spite of what he says. His tests questions are written in such a way that they are graded subjectively at times. He's rather clear in lecture but is not the most litterate in mocrobiology and illiterate in anything thats clinical. nice guy.
This is the one teacher i have ever had that i absolutely hate. Does not help you. Should not be teaching. He doesn't care if the class does good or not. If he marked you down on a test on a question you know you got right, he won't change it and will take even more points off just for showing him.
He is the best A&P lab teacher ever!!! He really helps you and makes it fun learning during one of the hardest classes at Clark.
His main problem is the fact that he is on the low end of the totem pole and is on a huge power trip. He will hold anything over the students' heads just for a feeling of power. He is not willing to compromise, change anything, and is not understanding or sympathetic in the least.
Boring as heck. Almost fell asleep every lecture. Unfair, poor teaching style.
At first, he seemed like a nice guy, but I honestly dont like his teaching style. He has an attitude of he just doesnt care how well his students do. His tests, well... seem like they had nothing to do with lecture. At times, no matter how much I studied, I felt clueless on what he wanted on his tests. His lectures are very dry... **YAWN** bore
He is the only teacher I have ever had who does not care how his students does in his class. It doesn't matter how hard you study the class average on the tests is alwyas a D between 64% and 70%. He tries to trick you with his test questions! No matter how hard you work unless this is your second go around with this class you will only get a C tops
Jaimie is terrific as a lab teacher. Very precise - giving all the tools necessary to do the experiments correctly. I really enjoyed lab. I did not have him for lecture - which seems to be a different story. Take R. Anitori for that. He's adjunct right now, but hopefully will get on full time soon.
Labs were fun and understandable, but the lectures were absolutely dreadful. You never knew what J. Marsh wanted you to study, and it almost seemed as though he wanted you to fail. He would try to stump us on test (our class averages on the two midterms were 62% and 64%).
I never had Jaimey for microbiology but he is a very good instructor when it comes to Anatomy Lab. He was always very clear and helpful. Take him for anatomy lab if you can.
I had jamey for lab and he is one of the best lab instructors I have ever had. He explains in depth what you should be doing. I look forward to taking more labs with him.
I took Jamey for Anatomy Lab and I took him for 3 quarters in a row. He is an awesome lab instructor-always very clear and helpful. He is always very easy to approach and he is the only lab instructor that actually shows and explains to the students the materials covered in lab. Take him if you can..he's an awesome lab instructor!
He is the worst instructor I have ever taken. He is on a huge powertrip if you ever go above his head he will make you pay. He gives you incorrect information. He is terrible at responding to emails or any form of communication. TERRIBLE!!!!!! DO NOT TAKE HIM
Worst teacher ever. I felt he was extremely dishonest and if you questioned something he said or did he took it very personal and took it out on you later. I wish the school would pay more attention to this, I really feel like he should not teach.
Jamey is a wonderful teacher! He took the time to answer all of my questions and never treated me as if I was stupid. He explains everything thoroughly and has more patience than any teacher I have ever met.
He is a great lab instructor, however his lecture is straight from the study guide and it has nothing to do with his tests. Average grade for the class on both midterm's was in the 60's. Very unclear about what to study for.
Very nice instructor but very ineffective. He set the class up for failure by telling students how boring he thought certain subjects were to lecture on. He also gave misleading info about what to study for exams and didn't explain anything beyond what was in the book. Exam scores reflected this, averaging around 65%! He shouldn't be an instructor.
I really can't understand the low reviews of this professor. Jamie is a nice, patient teacher. He explains things really well and always offers tricks to help you remember difficult ideas. I did really well in his lab. FYI I did not have him for A&P lecture.
Excellent teacher for Microbiology. No homework, it's a good idea to record the lectures and do as Jayme says - STUDY leads to meet success. Sure the exam averages were low, many didn't put in the time. Jayme grades on a curve - a fair professor!
I wish i can speak like Mr. Marsh!!He explain loud and clear. He is extremely very good at explaining and answering question(s)!!!! One thing i really like about Mr. Marsh, he treat all students equally!!! His good personality suits working as a teacher or doctor!!!! Good instructor, very helpful and very clear!! He take his time to teach.
Very nice man. Explains things in lab very well. Lectures tests were a nightmare! Average class grades for tests were 64%. If you can take him for lab only, great! But for lectures be prepared to learn the material inside and out, and then again. You want to hate him but he is just so nice.
Really good teacher. You have a test every week but its good because its really hard material. He was really helpful, It was a really really hard class but study hard because his test's are based off the lecture notes. He grades on a curve and he is really fair with the grades.
Great instructor, just here to finish some work on his masters and then he's gone so get into his class while you can! Pre-read the material, he uses web-accessed lecture notes and study guides to help you succeed. I'm a BIO guy but if you pay attention you should get an A.
Jamey fails to give many relatable or interesting information to help you understand the information in lecture. He is VERY nice and understanding, however his weekly tests are the equivalent of a midterm. You simply cannot remember all the information he requires for each test. TAKE THIS CLASS WITH DR.KIBOTA!!!! He is much better AND easier!!! :)
He is a great teacher! He shows that is he really interested in this class and he makes sure he does his best. He is very hard working, however Human Bio is really hard in the first place. His weekly tests are tough so study study study! If you are looking for an easy A do not take this class.
Worst professor I have had. He posts the average grade after each quiz. Out of nine, not a single one had an average of more than 65% and that he "expected that." Weird, that means you must be teaching poorly! Most averages were less than 60%. His lectures are horrible, I have trouble staying awake. DO NOT TAKE CLASSES WITH HIM
Really great teacher. He knew what he was doing and I learned a lot
He's nice and helpful, but his lectures are long and a bit boring. He provides the notes so there's really not that much incentive to pay attention.
He states pretty clearly on the first day that coming to class and putting in the work to study is the key. I take detailed lecture notes, and read the material, and have not had a problem getting an A on every test. His tests are designed to weed out the people that don't really pay attention. Do the work, get an A. Very straightforward.
His lectures were really boring, I could hardly pay attention. However, if you read the book and study it is not too hard to get an A. Paying attention in class would make it even easier.
DO NOT TAKE HIM! Test every week & his tests will focus on the tiniest detail in the chapter that you didn't think much of. Lectures EXTREMELY boring.More than half the class is failing, he is super nice but horrible teacher. Gives good grades & doesn't test as harsh w/ his fav students. Memorize his notes & memorize the entire book.
very clear about what he expects from you from the beginning. read the material before coming to class. ask a lot of questions because he will answer all of them very thoroughly. study his lecture notes and use the study guides.
I thought he was very well spoken. He was also very approachable and always willing to answer questions. I definitely recommend him!
DO NOT TAKE THIS TEACHER!!!! He does not care that the whole class is failing. The class avg on the test was 55. He doesn't seem to think that is a big deal.
Jamie, is very anal, he becomes agitated when students ask questions that put him off track. He has his lectures verbally memorized. He bases the GD only on tests with 20pt extra credit. He is inflexible and there are no makeup exams. His style of grading is unfair unless you're smart OR a nursing major. Then take his class.
Nice guy but awful teacher. The highest class average on the 4 midterms was 61.67% He doesn't seem to see the problem with that. If you're going to take A&P I've heard his class with be helpful. I would try to avoid taking his class at all cost
He is a very nice and mellow guy, but his teaching style is so boring. He didn't care that half the class was failing, which kind of puts his job at risk too. He has lecture notes that he literally memorized and uses terms none of us learned yet. The tests have questions on the tiniest details, not main points. Threw me off.
Strange so many ratings are poor for Marsh and I don't know why people say he doesn't like questions? He clearly wants students to understand and welcomes questions. Very good professor, easy to understand and very thorough!
Even though I got an A in his class, I would not recommend him to anyone who isn't proficient in all aspects of science. You have to learn nearly everything out of the chapters he assigns front and back to be above a C on his "curved" tests. Also, if you have insomnia take his class. You could not even resist falling asleep during lectures.
Do not take this teacher if you can help it. He likes to hear himself talk which can make for a really long boring lecture. He is smart, but also likes to remind you just how smart he is. He does not grade fairly. Take it with Ryan Kustusch.
Took for lecture, NOT 4 the faint of heart. Lots of material to study 4. Weekly quizzes based off where he ends on his lectures/lab. Grades on a curve but remember there are curve breakers. Take a light course load with his class if REALLY want an A. Funny thing is that he has a very kind demeanor which conflicts with his do-or-die outlook.
Challenging class, but pretty interesting stuff. Marsh is very nice, and helpful! He welcomes questions before each quiz, so ask questions! Chances are, that topic will be on the quiz, and he tries his best to make sure you understand the material. Easier than some biology classes, but it does require quite a bit of reading and study, to get an A.
There are many teachers who will help you pass with an A considering most students are attending this class for a dental hygiene or nursing prerequisite, but Marsh is not the teacher to take if you want an A. He has big tests every week, which are really hard, and half of it is written. Do not take him if you want an A in this class, trust me.
Great teacher. You just need to have motivation and study your in college no one is going to hold your hand.
The average test scores never exceeded 64%. That alone should tell you how poor his teaching skills are and how bad he is at making test. You have to study ALOT!! He is a really smart individual though and will answer any question you have. This class ended up being curved(or only 4 people would have passed).
Prof Marsh is great in the aspect that he is very kind and has a vast amount of knowledge in Bio. His testing style killed me. Only 4 tests for a whole book sounds great right? Yeah, no. That means every test is 3-5 chapters of info. Even if you do reading, hit lectures, use his notes and study questions. Half or more of the class dropped.
I loved Mr. Marsh, these classes were very hard, a lot of studying and an amazing amount of homework, but these classes are hard in general. Marsh has been my favorite teacher so far in my 2 years at Clark, he is understanding, flexible and will help anyone. I had fun during labs, lectures are a bit tough, but it was very worth it in the end.
Lectures were easy to follow, especially when you print out the online lecture slides ahead of time. He is eager to answer the student's questions and make sure they understand the concepts of microbiology. The lab portion was hands-on and added to my learning. He was very helpful and made sure we were ready to perform our own lab experiments.
Take him he understands micro very well! I'm surprised he doesn't have a much better rating he is a very great professor! Highly recommended!
Mr. Marsh is very excited about teaching anything science related. He is helpful with researching answers to questions, but does not like having his views discussed beyond what he offers. If you read the book and the lecture notes, it should be an easy A. He is fair with his grading, although he does use tricky wording and phrasing in his tests.
Pretty typical science class, lecture and weekly tests. He grades on the curve, so don't stress if you don't get excellent test scores, most students will still get an A. All of the microbiology classes have interchangeable curriculum that includes an unknowns project and a group research/presentation project. He is friendly and helpful.
I had Marsh for my micro lab. The lab is so much fun, modules aren't graded but you do get points for following lab protocol. He is super clear and helpful with the labs. There is one group project and pretty much all the work for it is outside of class.
P. Marsh is very clear in communicating the information in his lectures. In a 200 level science class the lecture and information presented is challenging so efforts important. In group project he graded me down for my information being to detailed and presenting too quiet. To me we should be graded for the precise info not how well we present.
Favorite class at Clark. Super interesting, but there is a lot of reading and you need to study. If you're good with that, then you will be just fine. He curves his exams (or quizzes? can't remember) at the end. This helps your grade a lot. I had a B- the whole quarter and when he curved quizzes/tests & put in our presentation & final, I got an A.
He lectures very well so take lots of notes! He provides clear lecture points and study guides. He is very firm but fair and transparent in what he expects. I would definitely recommend him as an instructor.
I really enjoyed my microbiology class, hes not overbearing, allows you to make mistakes & learn but is always there to address and concerns. Clear testing and expectations. One test is rather difficult but he grades based off the highest test so it always improves your grade.
Marsh is great. I thought that Micro would be almost impossible after getting a B in Bio 160, but I was wrong. Half-way through our quarter, there were 11 students out of 30 with over 100% and the bulk of us had over 90% because of his steep curve. Marsh really cares about students. Grade is a final, a group project, a lab project, and six quizzes.
Amazing teacher, sets his students up for success! Follow his study guides and lecture notes and you can easily get a good grade (book helps but his notes cover about 95% of what you have to learn). He curves his class which can easily bump you up a full letter great! I highly recommend him!!!!!!
Professor Marsh is one of those people that REALLY enjoys his job. He is lecture heavy so read beforehand so you can keep up with him in class. He does a good job at explaining the material in different ways so that the class can understand it as easily as possible. He will also review the chapters before the quiz as a refresher! Don't skip class!
Probably one of the best if not the best instructor Ive even taken. Sets you up to be successful as the course outline, notes and study guide is CLEARLY laid out. Class is really interesting and the instructor cares. Make sure you print his notes, read and Do the study guide it totally pays off!
Would not recommend taking this class summer quarter with him. Study by reading his notes. He covers what's needed during lectures but spends time talking about topics "we don't need to know." He talks a lot about A&P and what you need to know for that. Brings up politics a lot. The lab portion is very fun! Very kind man, not rude at all.
I have taken him for microbiology twice. He has improved so much. I was worried at first but i am so glad i took his class. He is a great guy! Show up to lecture and study. You will do fine.
He provides lecture notes, but they are very unorganized and involve a lot of unnecessary detail, and he doesn't tell us what is important for us to know. He goes off on tangents, wasting valuable class time, and further confusing his students. Averages are in the 70s on most of his tests, but he does nothing to change that or help his students.
I was scared from the ratings I wouldn't like Prof. Marsh, but no Microbio prof appears to have great reviews so I think this is a really tough course and people are mad at the professors for it. Prof. Marsh is the most engaging prof I've had during this crazy pandemic year. He cares about his students. Attend lectures and study his notes!
I have never once had any issues with any professors at Clark, but Jamey Marsh is not one that I would recommend taking. I would not say that Professor Marsh cares about his students success because he purposefully sets you up to fail. He is not helpful when it comes to trying to understand what you got wrong, and you only pass because of the curve
Prof Marsh explains things clearly and is always available outside of class to help you. He is tricky on tests so aiming for comprehension is key to doing well on quizzes. He is generous with a grading curve and if you close your eyes, it sounds like Leo DiCaprio is teaching you about infectious diseases.
You realize what an excellent job he does of walking you through the material if you go back towards the end of class and listen to the lectures again. His quizzes are difficult because he wants you to understand the concepts the link everything together but he is clear on his expectations and gives you lots of resources to succeed
No matter how much you do the work, the exam really determines your pass. His exams are only open for an hr . he doesnt understand people have jobs, kids etc. worst professor at clark. Doesnt care to fail.
The best teacher I have had at Clark. He gives you everything you need to know. It's Biol 260, so it's a hard class but he definitely gives you the tools you need to succeed. Answers questions, clear on what you need to study,1 paper,1 project, lots of quizzes, and HW. Grades on a curve, best thing ever... trust me. I learned a lot in his class.
Does not teach, does not provide more than a study guide, chapter readings, and tests. Online structure is ridiculous, the worst I have ever experienced. Timed and locked so if you have the slightest hiccup your screwed. No recordings, slides, very tricky questions. Expecting failure because he doesn't teach you and curving down, take another Prof.
Mr. Marsh is a great online professor! His zooms are very informative, and he goes above and beyond to answer questions. Biology 260 is a tough class, so your success is dependent upon how much effort you put into it. Mr. Marsh is very approachable, and he tells you exactly what will be on the tests. This is a hard class, but I recommend it.
The worst professor I have ever had. Takes pride in making his class unnecessarily hard and refuses to help you in any way. Any time you ask a question he refers you to the textbook or his notes which are a jumbled mess. He wants you to fail his course for some reason and loves seeing his students struggle. Take another professor for summer term
He said most students get an A. He grades on a curve because he understands how difficult some chapters are. Most people get 100% on the big project. Quiz every week on material covered in lecture. Don't get tricked on exam questions! He's a tricky one, for sure. You really need to study. He's amazing and I would take him again in a heartbeat.
Wonderful teacher and cares about his students! Lectures are really good and he takes his time. He always replied to my emails quickly and never made me feel stupid. The exams are hard but the lab worksheets and Unknowns Project are easy. Our lowest quiz score was dropped and final grade based on class curve. Fun class!
Professor Marsh was an awesome instructor and I learned A LOT taking his course. I was upset that I took this class online because the labs looked like tons of fun. He is very passionate about microbiology which was really nice to see and he genuinely wants you to do well! Ask questions and read a lot and you will succeed. The class is hard. Study!
Marsh was a good instructor, but your entire grade is dependent on a lab project, and tests. The unknowns project is easy. He offers no EC. This class is so challenging to study for. No group work or smaller assignments, your grade is based on tricky question tests and the unknowns. He's a friendly guy but don't take him if you have test anxiety.
I enjoyed his class but I would prepare to study a lot because your grade his heavily dependent on tests and the one project.
You do not know your grade for the course until it is posted on your transcript, he doesn't use Canvas. He seems like he forgets that people have lives and that this class is not our number one priority. His test questions are super tricky and he uses everything from lecture, so be prepared to pay close attention the WHOLE time. Do NOT recommend!
Marsh class is the worse, I really thought I could get through this class and I was very disappointed. I wish he had other materials to help me with my score. NEVER TAKE THIS CLASS EVER AGAIN.I want to quit school knowing I was doing poorly. I study all the notes, read the book and go over them again. HATED IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I had Marsh for lab. I loved his labs but I wish there was a way for me to take notes and be able to study the material better. Only grade from the lab was lab safety, a report, and final lab quiz. I think I would have done better if I had more material. You cant take anything out of the lab. He was very nice and understanding.
I enjoyed him as a person. He has study guides but good luck following them because they are all over the place. He gets off topic very easily and it's never really clear what will be on the tests. He prides himself on his hard tests and I think he takes it as a challenge to fail as many studies as he can. The average on his tests was always an F.
Professor Marsh does not care about his student's success. He takes pride in the failure of his class. (Yes, failure. The average for each test was an F and he laughs about it) If you ask for help he'll turn you down and tell you to read the textbook. You never know what will be on the test, you only get a grade from quizzes and a huge lab project.
Very good at teaching and helped us thoroughly understand tough concepts. You need to be at lab and lecture but lab gets done early most of the time. Grading is only based on weekly quizzes, final lab/written exam, and course project. No homework but it does require studying for the quizzes. I crammed before each quiz and still got an A-.
This professor just looks to one up students. Good luck following the study guides for the quizzes because the questions are unrelated.
He is the WORST and I mean THE WORST professor I have ever had. His tests are so hard, even after hours of studying, good luck getting 100%. Your grade is based heavily on a project, the lab practical, and the final 75-question multiple-choice test. You won't know your grade until it's posted on your transcript and he doesn't use Canvas.
Professor Marsh is very nice and helpful when answering questions, but his learning style makes this course extra hard. His study guides don't prepare you for the quizzes whatsoever; he simply expects you to know everything. Most questions in quizzes are super tricky be prepared for that, and overall, you basically have to teach yourself everything.
Jamey Marsh is very passionate about microbiology, and it shows in his teaching. He is available after and before classes if you need help or just want to chat. He does not use Canvas, so keep track of your test scores to monitor your grade. ASK QUESTIONS--he wants you to succeed if you show effort to understand!
I only had Jamey for lab, but he was kind and great at responding to my questions. Having him in lab was super fun and helpful. Lab is graded on your lab report and lab practical, this goes all into your final grade with lecture included. He responded quickly to my messages on Canvas when I was confused or needed help.
I took Marsh's class, both lecture and lab. Quizzes make up 50% of your grade, with a lab project, practical exam, and final exam making up the rest. He bases his quizzes on his lecture notes posted in canvas, so use those to study instead of the study guides. He is passionate about microbiology, so don't be afraid to ask questions in lecture.
Professor Marsh is honestly great. Microbiology is, by nature, a hard course- however, professor Marsh explains things well, is kind, and is very transparent. His syllabus holds very true to the class- it requires lots of time and effort, however he provides notes and study tips to help you study. I 100% recommend taking Prof. Marsh!
Jamey is a kind instructor & very straightforward with grading and expectations. He doesn't use Canvas, so you calculate your grade based off a points system. There are weekly quizzes based off the lecture material, as well as a lab project and practical exam. Show up, pay attention, ask questions, and spend TIME studying, and you'll do fine.
