His exam is pretty tricky and hard, however, he is so kind and fun. His class is so interesting. I like his class.

I HATE THIS CLASS, I THINK HE IS GOOD BUT I HATE THE CLASS. AND HE NEEDS TO RESPECT HIS STUDENTS HE CURSE LIKE 5 TIMES FOR ONE CLASS PERIOD

He is pretty cool. He explains things well and encourages you to participate in class. He uses blackboard a lot so if you don't know how to use it then you are better off not taking class with him but otherwise probably the best bio teacher HVCC has.

This guy's brilliant. His whacked-out analogies stick in your head and make it impossible to forget what he was trying to impart. Additionally, how can you go wrong with his open-book tests that you can take a zillion times until you get a perfect score?

dont remember what the class was and i was ALWAYS late to lab but he was cool with it even busted on me for being late all the time. great tearcher and real easy to understand his notes because they were power points. if u wanted u didnt even need to take notes just print off the power point slides before class

Jamey is the MAN!! Don't listen to any negative comments about him. I had him last year and he is by far one of the nicest and best teachers at HVCC. He knows how to make his class interesting and he will really help you out. He's definitely funny and a great guy.

Meh...hes ok. He relates alot of information to today but he plays into the stupid kids alot. Class moves too slow sometimes, then all of the sudden we're done with the chapter. Hes ok.

Dr. Thompson is an excellent student-oriented professor. The layout of his online Astronomy class should be a model for other online classes.

THE ONLINE QUIZZES ARE HARD! I probably took those things 20 times and still never got a 100 on some of them. Anyways, go to class, do the work, and you will do fine.

had him twice for BIOL 109 & BIOL 104. online quizzes are ok. if you're having a REAl tough time, write the ? & answer down somewhere and refer to it later if it comes up on the next quiz. time consuming yes, but not undoable as a last resort. print out lectures online, dont bother takin notes, just pay attention. didn't rly use textbook.

Funny, Friendly and loves what he does. A unique teacher. Class is fast paced but extremely interesting.

Very helpfull, clear, and hilarious. Jamey really makes class interesting and makes you want to learn. He makes you work, but if you do the vocabulary, review questions and diagrams the tests will be a breeze. Love, love, loved his style of teaching! Labs are fun too!

Awesome Professor. If you HAVE to take bio you can't go wrong here. Bio is a pain regardless but prof. Thompson makes it about as interesting as i could imagine it being. highly recommended.

He is a really good teacher who makes class want to go to. The notes he gives comes in handy for test. Each week their in an online quiz to do, when you get an answer right write it down because the question will reappear again if you retake the test. I wish I took before for biology. Definitely take him as a teacher.

He is a very nice prof. and he does make the class interesting. The only problem is his lectures are sometimes everywhere, and labs for the class are really hard to understand. otherwise GIS was in okay class

This class was hard, but Jamey made it easy to understand. Each week there is an online quiz and he was hilarious. Kept the class entertained and picked up on everyones names very easily.

Best professor so far. Especially if your starting out. Never had this much fun in a class before. The subject is pretty hard in on itself, but he makes it easy for you to understand by telling crazy stories or anologies. You just really need to put the effort. If you're going to take his class, LISTEN don't get too much into note taking.

Took his astrology class online. The best online class I have ever taken by far. Quizzes, discussion board posts. and tests as well as labs. Definitely not something you can sleep on, but nothing overwhelming.

He is a great teacher. Highly approachable and is willing to help. Definitely attend class and pay attention in lecture his test are based off of his handouts and slides. I wouldn't buy the textbook it goes way more in depth then his class. Amazing teachers

This is not a BS comment. If you need to take 104, Jamey is the professor to take. He provides online quizzes for every chapter ( these can be retaken as many times as you want...google is your friend!!!) He is freakin hilarious. He is more than willing to help. Attend class...the extra points will help in the end.no book needed..slides given

Best professor I had at HVCC. Human bio was not an easy class, but not terribly hard. He is hilarious and makes the class interesting.

GREAT TEACHER! I actually looked foward to this class everytime I had it. You get a point if you show up to class, tests were exactly what the notes were on. I didn't end up using my book for this class at all. Even though some of the material was dry Jamey made it super interesting! Highly recommended!

AWESOME PROFESSOR! I'm currently taking BIOL 109 with him. He goes out of his way to help me. Very helpful, caring, and understanding. My favorite professor at HVCC so far, and this is only my first semester. Tests are hard if you don't study. Flashcards are a huge help. If you have to take this class, I would highly reccommend taking it with him.

Favorite professor at HVCC so far. Very knowledgeable and pretty hilarious. There is a lot of material to study in the course, and he's very vague with what will be on the tests but if you are there to learn, this is your class. Not an easy A but highly recommended.

Jamey is my favorite professor of all time,learned alot from his class, his tests are very hard and do require that you study, homework consists of online quizzes which you can take multiple times, attendance isn't mandatory, but you will miss alot if you miss one class. He is a great teacher,hilarious, looked forward to going to his class.

Jamey is a great professor to take if you have a hard time understanding new topics, he uses great analogy. He's always there to help. Not quick with emails. Tests are HARD if you don't like to study. Be sure to attend class or you'll miss a lot. Not an easy A. You'll leave the class more knowledgeable than you did when you first entered.

I took this class last semester with Thompson. I actually looked forward to going to this class, it was a lot of fun. I learned so much by the time I left. He uses analogy and makes sure you really understand what's being taught. I would recommend him to anyone taking biology, do NOT hesitate to take a class with him! It's so worth it!

Loved this teacher. Very helpful and injected humor into the course. The only bad thing is he fell way behind on grading labs. I would have liked to know how I was doing on these throughout the course. I have found that most teachers do not grade in a timely manner.

My favorite teacher at HVCC, great sense of humor and approachable. Grading was straightfoward, you have to earn it. Bio is not my forte, I often struggled but he was more than happy to help (provided office hours) and never made me feel dumb. Tests are hard, you have to study. Jamey is hilarious. The class definitely isnt easy, but I dont think Bio w any professor would be. His teaching &"language" make it @ least a little interesting. There is a weekly quiz on black board, but there's unlimited retakes. Last score sticks. Keep taking them until 1010 because they add up. The tests are more than passable if u study!

He is very laid back, approachable, funny but serious when it comes to homeostasis. He's actually a very good teacher but his class is not easy by any means. You need to study for this class and actively listen. He gives you all the rope in the world, what you do with it is up to you. I would definitely recommend him but you have to study.

Needed BIO for gen eds and he was the BEST teacher at HVCC I ever had. He makes you interested in bio and will keep it very entertaining and educational at the same time, he is without a doubt the best BIO teacher this school has to offer, he's also HILARIOUS!

Its tough material but any BIO course is, plus its needed for your GEN ED requirements so why not take it with an amazing teacher? Jamey is a WONDERFUL professor. It's a hard class, but if you go to his office hours, read the chapters, and really study, it's not to bad. He really loves the work he's doing, which makes the class a LOT of fun! He really cares about his student and wants everyone to do the best they can.

Jamey is a very enthusiastic professor and his love for biology really shines through his teaching. His class has been very difficult for me, but I am learning a lot. I would suggest that anyone who takes Jamey should take advantage of the answer fill-in pages on the back of his class handouts.

Jamey is a nice guy and he's funny but you're gonna have to study your ass off if you want to get a good grade in the class. Attendance isn't mandatory (except for labs) but he gives you 1 point of extra credit for every class you attend which adds up at the end of the semester. Basically he's a good teacher but the tests are very difficult.

Best professor and I loved his class! He understands that his class is an elective for most of his students. Jamey does not want you to stress about the course and doesn't really assign homework. I ended up with an A so I'd suggest getting 100's on all online quizes and focus on studying the handouts for the tests.

Dude, Jamey is a fabulous professor! He is very passionate and really drives home the importance of HOMEOSTASIS. Get it tattooed on your body for bonus points. Seriously, I did. He made me want to learn more and more. If you put forth some effort, TAKE ALL ONLINE quizzes and attend all your labs, you will pass with flying colors.

You can tell how much he loves his job. I highly recommend taking his class if you enjoy hard work and laughing while you struggle. If you don't like science now, you will after a semester with him. He's really friendly and he thrives on challenging his students. Stay away if you don't appreciate hard work. Sit in the front row and don't miss class

Best biology (and overall science) teacher I have ever had! The class is definitely not "a cake walk" but he is willing to help you in anyway that he can and offers extra credit to help boost your grade. If you struggle with science like I do, this is your dude!

Have him for only lab this semester and love him. He is so outgoing and fun, and will answer a million questions per class if you asked that many. There is a quiz every week on what you did in lab the prior week, and there are extra credit opportunities to bring up your quiz grades. Would recommend to anyone.

Great professor. Lectures are very funny. Jamey knows his stuff! However this is a class you have to absolutely work for it. Lots of memory required. He's very accessible outside of class, and available for help, but if you aren't a great test taker I'd recommend Kelly, as her tests are more on recognition than just memory recall.

Jamey is probably the most chill professor you could ever have! Math and science have never been my thing, but thanks to him I survived and aced Intro to Astronomy. He was funny, informal, and very understanding. DO THE WORK (and the EC) and you should have a solid A! Can't recommend this cool dude enough.

Professor Thompson is a really nice man. Before or after class you can always go to his office to get help. He really wants his students to do good! His tests are really hard have to really study! He even tells you, you have to study in order to pass the class!!!

Jamey is a hardworking professor that only wants the best for his students. If you participate in class and catch on to his witty banter, you will most certainly succeed. He'll help you with any question you may have, and make sure you ask a lot of questions. The tests are tough, but the skills you gain because of his class can't be traded.

Jamey is a spectacular professor! This was a six week intensive astronomy class. It was mostly graded based on quizzes/labs with a final at the end. discussion posts are a letter grade so make sure to do that! The labs are interesting/engaging and the quizzes aren't hard if you read. He also gives extra credit every week which can really add up!

He's very nice and passionate. Modules are two weeks long. In each one, there are three chapters of reading, three quizzes (you can take them an infinite number times), a lab, a discussion, and an exam (questions from the quizzes are often repeated here). Seems like a lot, but it was manageable. Just do the reading and absorb the info.

Jamey is arguably one of the best professors at Hudson valley. Extremely enthusiastic. His exams can be a little tricky, but that also comes with any bio class. Really down-to-earth and understanding. Would take him for every course if I could!

Professor Thompson unlike many professors was very entertaining to listen to during lectures and kept me thoroughly interested in the work. In terms of grading, the class was very exam-heavy and memorization is key to doing well on his exams due to the diagrams he uses for biology. Multiple opportunities for extra credit throughout the class.

If you're looking to take bio 109. This is your guy. I had him for both lecture and lab. Must attend Labs or make it up. Great teaching, only down side of his class were the short answer questions on exams.

I had Jamey for PHYS145 and PHYS210. He is a great teacher and a great person overall. He actually cares about his students and calls us his family. He understands the struggles that students can have and let you hand in late work. He is very laid back and I actually enjoyed going to his classes. I very much recommend him as a professor!

Quizzes every lab on the previous week's material. Attendance is a definite must. Quizzes were hard, a lot of written answer. Great prof and keeps students engaged. Take pictures of the board to help you remember what to prepare for the next quiz.

Jamey was so funny. His personality made the biology of the human organism SO much better. He goes in-depth in his lectures, so you don't want to miss them. He's a very knowledgeable guy, and can pretty much answer any question you have. If you pay attention in class, studying for his class isn't difficult at all.

Great professional. Meteorology and climate change and Geology, Evolution of Earth. Had a great time but labs are detailed and you need to show up. Communication is key. He is willing to help you with any questions about anything. Straight forward. Take his courses but be ready to study hard its good education.
