He was an extremely hard grader and it can be hard to pinpoint what exactly he wants sometimes. I would recommend taking advantage of his office hours, i think i wouldve done much better if i did

Goes off on tangents. Tough grader when it comes to everything you can think of- grammar, structure, format- everything matters. He is fun and understanding. I wouldn't mind taking his class again. If you put effort into passing, you will.

I loved taking Professor Couch. He is very inquisitive in his lectures and I admire his ability to decompose works so thoroughly and clearly. You must come to class. Your grade will go down after three absences. IF YOU WANT AN A GO TO OFFICE HOURS! He will sit with you and edit your paper and each time you go your paper increases a letter grade!!

Main grades were essays and peer feedback. Essay topics were interesting and gave freedom to interpret. Overall, I really loved his class.

I took Rhetoric & Composition, 1301. Hearing Couch talk is a treat: he's the perfect balance of silly and insightful. Attending his lectures feels like listening to your borderline raunchy grandpa give advice to you (in a good way). Yes, I'd recommend him to a friend ten times over, simply because of him as a person. Brace yourself if taking him.
