A psych prof who approaches the body of knowledge like a scientist. The course IS memorization, get used to it. He provided a concise set of notes - very useful but not a replacement for memorizing chapters from the text. Tests on CONCEPTS more than DETAILS, but detail is inherent in the subject.

This is a nice course to take if you don't feel like actually going to the class. I got an A+ and went maybe four times. One thing, though, some of the details on his "textbook" midterms are ridiculous. No, I do not know how many heterosexual individuals in Canada were infected with HIV in 2000.....

Worst teacher ever. His powerpoints were filled with pictures of his kids or from the Matrix, and had no relevance to the class. His jokes weren't funny and he just droned on. Tests useless knowledge and facts from the textbooks. He made me hate psychology. Thanks.

385 was a lot more interesting then what I thought it would be, however it is a lot of material. But Dyce is extremely helpful in posting all the lectures online and you can listen to them on your ipod.you have to study for the tests they are not hard but do cover a lot of material. 100 questions in length. But overall a good course.

I would recommend this prof. Class is enjoyable and he is knowledgeable and funny. However, he does give 4 midterms, 2 just on lecture and 2 just on text (which I personally think is a little ridiculous). In my opinion, sometimes spent too much time on videos. Has audio on ppt slides but doesn't always overlap with what he actually says in class.

Jaime is an awesome Proff. What every proff should be like- has notes on line, goes through material at a decent pace and is very clear and interesting. Uses great examples and videos to supplement the material. Exams are challenging but fair if you study. No group projects or papers thank god! If he is teaching a Psych class I'm in it! :)

This class wasn't as focused on applications of learning as I thought it would be, but it was still a good course and Dyce is generally a good prof. No textbook, and so much overlap with 339! Absolutely take this class if you have taken 339, tons of overlap. Tests non-cumulative, essentially 3 midterms, each midterm divided into 2 parts on different days. Showed interesting videos, though audio package provided little extra info. Do go to class, gives tons of hints about what will be on exam, especially during exam time. Take this class

He's the best professor in the Psych department and might just be the best professor at the U of A. I've taken 104, 105, 241 and 385 with him and my average for these classes was 3.78. His classes do require a lot of effort but it pays off. Take a class with Dyce. He references Heavy Metal music and Robert DeNiro films. How cool is that?

I would not recommend taking a class with Jamie. He did not assign a textbook, but instead made us pay $100 for a dvd/audio pack that he obviously made on his home computer and it sucked. No text, just audio & video which I liked. No assignments & exams were each split in two parts which was good. Some exam questions were worded poorly but they were fair overall. Audios were class recordings which was annoying because people would ask questions they couldn't be heard. His messy handwriting was hard to decipher. Overall pretty good.

Psych Chair told him to get rid of those DVDs last year... they were $40, and "required" for the class. New chair this year, so he gouged us for $110 each. Jamie is an AWESOME proff, but it sucked how after the second midterm you are on your own for material for the final. You have to listen to 8 hours of his audio recordings of other lectures and figure out the material on your own. There is also a group project which took up the last 3rd of the course which I found to be a complete waste of time.

It takes a certain ego to make students spend $120 on 3 hours of footage of you reciting the dsm. Mandatory for the course. The first 1/3 of the course is literally an overview of the last 2/3, and you won't find any current research or much for theories. Easy and straightforward, just disappointing

Had hig expectations for this class and was looking forward to it but I was greatly let down. Jamie would waste class time with videos that I thought had no educational value; his notes were very vague, and he made you learn 50% of the material on your own by watching his DVDs that cost $100. Tests were MC and presentation was a waste of time.

I had high expectation for this class but was let down a little bit. Yes, the exams are easy and do not require much effort.
