Jamie Henzy clearly doesn't understand genetics. She made a mistake on a punnett square and when other students pointed it out, she couldn't figure out what she did wrong. She also can't calculate expected double recombinants. Her explanations of stuff she does know usually don't make sense either. Worst professor I've encountered at Northeastern.

Jamie's tests are convoluted and challenging. Her lectures are scattered and do not follow the textbook. She can be funny on occasion but also can get basic problems wrong on the board. I'd recommend taking someone else if you're trying to get a good grade in Genetics or even learn it for that matter.

Probably the worst professor I've had in NEU. If you skip her lectures, you won't get a good grade. She has a very poor teaching style, and you get graded only from the midterms and nothing else. The only good thing she does is she gives questions before the exam. But the questions on the actual exam are super tricky. Her lab structure also sucks.

Professor Henzy gets a lot of hate on here and I dont think she deserves it. She cares about her students learning a lot and is very open to feedback. Boring lectures, but if you just do the suggested reading and questions, you'll do okay in the class. Going to lectures probably supplements 50% of work if you dont go to them

definitely not the most organized, but it really just takes little bit more effort to pay attention and then it makes sense. sometimes lectures go over exact questions on the exam. but if you dont put in the extra work you won't get a good grade. she does support your learning, but is kind of like a backseat driver in it

Its kind of sad that a professor can take a class I was so excited to learn about and make it absolutely dreadful. lectures are so completely disorganized that you are learning unrelated information everyday. does not use slides just writes random information that pops into her head on the chalk board and rambles on about it. avoid if possible!

*BEWARE* If you are reading this and are thinking about taking Henzy's class for ANYTHING, please, save yourself the pain and DO NOT. Also if you're reading these reviews and seeing the one or two 5 STAR REVIEWS and are thinking, okay, maybe people are being overly harsh, please THINK AGAIN. Those reviews were probably submitted by her mother.

Henzy is a great professor, she cares about her students and is more than willing to help if you ask. She provided extra credit opportunities throughout the semester and dropped the lowest quiz, ant wrangle, and the second group project score if it boosted your grade. As long as you read the textbook and do the recommended problems, you'll do well.

Absolutely atrocious professor. Class is graded off few exams and quizzes. Group projects should help boost your grade, but not when instructions are unclear. Asking for further clarification leads to dismissal. No rubric for projects and must attend office hours to look. Is also condescending towards students during lectures.

This professor is very knowledgeable when it comes to science but cannot teach. She teaches as if everyone is already an expert on the topics discussed and has learned it from other classes and our own research alone forgetting we're students still learning the material and can be very hostile when you ask questions, she doesn't care & won't help.

At first I was thrown by her using chalk and not ppt slides, but I ended up liking this style. I learned a lot more than skimming through a bunch of slides. The ant wranglers and practice quizzes boosted my grade and she drops the lowest exam score. If you're interested in genetics and motivated I think you'll really like the class.

She's not as bad as these reviews, but she's not great. Discombobulated lectures/says wacky things. Come to class because she says things that show up on exams (not written down). She gives some buffer questions for each exam, but there are only 3 (lowest is dropped). Also grades with peer-graded homework and short quizzes with multiple attempts.

This class was pretty difficult, but if you learn how to do her class its really not that bad. She uses the same questions in her practice exams that are on her tests, and rips test questions directly from her ppt slides. She really isn't a great teacher, but if you study her slides before tests instead of studying the textbook you'll get an easy A

Be on top of the textbook reading because her exams ask for details that she brushes over during lecture. I think that during the lecture she focuses on topics that matter long term (for MCAT and other advance classes) but her tests are based on whether you read the details in the textbook and lectures. It wasn't that bad if you stay on top of it.

The class is based on 3 exams and a final and the lowest exam before the final will get dropped. I would suggest reading the textbooks, using any extra practice that she posts, and making sure that you understand the answers to the questions that are posted at the end of the slide. For everyone saying she isn't that bad, she is that bad.

The lectures were good and she taught the concepts really well. Tests were straightforward and the practice quizzes let you know what kind of questions to expect. Henzy is really nice and if you participate in class or talk to her outside of class, she'll remember you. Office hours are super helpful and lowest exam grade gets dropped.

W'ed this class b/c my grades did not suffice to get anywhere above a B. I lost so much motivation from the prospect of having to retake this course, but glad to say I ended it with an A now. Her lectures were very disorganized/lackluster, did lectures even on exam days, and coming to class was a drag. I would TRULY never recommend her to anyone!!!

I think Henzy gets a lot of undeserved hate, I think that people blame some of the difficulty of the course material on her; I enjoyed the class but it is definitely not an easy A. I think Henzy does a lot to try to help people raise their grades, and is helpful at office hours.

Mrs. Henzy is disorganized and confusing as a professor, and she is disrespectful as a person. I've never heard a professor speak with such self-importance and arrogance to a student before- not even ones actually successful enough to warrant an ego. Good luck to anyone who has the displeasure of interacting with her.

Do not take her. My GPA took such a hit. She drops your lowest exam, but I had a medical emergency last minute and she did not let me retake as it counted as my dropped. I had already done horribly on the first exam and I should've just W'd the class. Anyone else for genetics is better than Henzy.

Literally a horrible teacher. DO NOT take her. Do absolutely everything you can not to have her. Doesn't teach you anything then expects you to know it all. You won't learn a thing with her. She needs to be evaluated by Northeastern.

Arrogant! Disrespectful! Terrible at outlining explanations and offering direct instruction. TA would give assistance on assignments that later turned out to be wrong, sacrificing my grades and giving zero opportunity to cushion it. I'm finishing the course with a 92.9, and she virtually scolded me for asking for advice to end with an A +0.1 pt.

i have no idea how this woman is even still allowed to teach. do anything and everything in your power to not take her class. tutors/tas weren't able to help bc no one ever knew what she was talking about. went on random tangents and would shame students when she made mistakes. she needs her tenure taken away or smth

Henry gets a lot of hate but I think it's really unwarranted, at least in genomics. She teaches the class well, provides examples, and the learning goals are exactly what's on the exam. Her exam are honestly pretty easy and surface level. The class averages were always A- or higher with one exam median being a 97.5% which is pretty crazy.
