Excellent for all those students at DBU who still think they are in high school. For the more mature students, his class is a beating. There is no other class I had a harder time making myself attend.
An incredible professor and man. His classes greatly influenced the way I think.
I HATED going to his class! He asks for your opinion then tells you that you're wrong. He is ALWAYS right and knows EVERYTHING about the bible. I'm sorry for anyone who has to take this class.
Very good teacher, talks alot...but very informative!

He's a hoot to attend soccer games with. Man does he know the sport!
You pick up a couple of helpful things, but in order to do so you have to hear a trillon dumb stories. He also is really rude..cant sleep, look at a textbook...he demands your attention or asks you to leave.
Jamie Lash is the worst professor i have ever had not only does he have horrible theology but he is the worst at not doing what he is telling you to do. on top of that he is just an all-around bad proffessor.
I learned nothing, repeat, NOTHING in his classes. Well, OK, I learned his hamster is named Nutmeg (seriously, it's a question on the test).
Kinda too opinionated to be a teacher. his way is the only way and it applies to everyone. not a good idea for a teacher who is supposed to be teaching life lessons that "anyone can use." this class should be done away with. it's totally rid
I enjoyed his lectures but I hated attending his classes.
Trust me, just go to another school...won't have to take this stupid class. Try BYU..haha
These people just don't like to think. He's what most school's have,...someone who asked you to back things up instead of just affirm what everyone says just because its the "Christian" thing to do. I loved listening to him.
Just do what ever you must to not take this class
Only talks about what he believes and tries to convince you to believe it too. The class is super easy though. You don't have to do hardly anything in there.
Ok, so this class isn't the most relavent to our college careers, but Prof. Lash is cool. I don't know what you people are talking about. Back off him!
He is very concerned with his students and has a very genuine heart. His doctrine is slightly lacking, but overall, one can take the good in the class and discard the bad.

Very interesting stuff, both spiritual & practical. First semester's material is not as interesting as the second semester's: Improving memory, finances, scheduling, and other practical stuff. He's a "quirky" guy, but I loved his classes nonetheless. Not much of any work, just final exams.
He is compassionate for his students and passionate for his Savior. I admit I found myself with divided attention in his classes, but notes in Foundation were easy to follow and beneficial to take to heart. So, don't make blocked goals and do remember the Truth! Don't buy the book, but do skim it!
Lash is unorganized, always late, and his material is ridiculous. He's uncomfortable and mixes CLS and Foundations.
Not organized, very boring, tells stories of himself! If you have to take him good luck and if you can avoid him I would. Does have a heart for the Lord just not teaching!
I enjoyed both classes for the most part...they're pretty much the same class. The midterm and final I thought were pretty hard and I studied for a while. The tests are very, very specific. I think he's a good professor. He is quirky, but I did learn a lot in this class.
VERY BORING, VERY REPETATIVE, VERY PASSIONATE ABOIUT THE LORD, JUST NOT ABOUT TEACHING. He tells stories that dont even relate to the "material" that is supposed to be covered. Usually very late to class, VERY UNORGANIZED! You will be much happier (expecially new students) if you can avoid taking him. I had him as a SENIOR & LEARNED NOTHING!!!!
very good teacher
he is really really easy... didn't study for the midterm at all and made a A-, kinda gets off on tangents that don't apply to class, 2 tests, a presentation, and thats pretty much it. easy, if you can't pass, you might consider dropping out of college.
I have had a lot of experience sitting through God according to Jamie Lash and it's just intolerable. He loves to tell you that what you take away from a passage in the Bible is wrong. He loves to scare people into being "good Christians" How many times do we have to hear about the big screen of sins? If you want to be a drone, take his class.UGH
I don't know what the big deal is about smashing Prof. Lash. He is a good teacher.
Boring. I could not stand this class. I fall asleep walking through the door.He goes on and on about NOTHING important and it's usually NEVER about the topic.THE most opinionated person I have ever met.His tests are ridiculous its all scripture.seriously? He tries to make stuff hard when it really doesn't need to be.Avoid this class or transfer.
I ABSOLUTELY LOVED Mr. Lash! He made this my #1 favorite class of all time. He helped me see things differently than I had ever seen them before. Mr. Lash is incredibly interesting! Very big on telling stories to illustrate his points. Loved his class. Animated. Uses lots of visual examples. Captivating. True servant of God. Has a joyful spirit.
Doesn't really teach, but uses his own stories (some seem made up) to teach. He is very opinionated.
HE IS THE BEST TEACHER EVER! I have so much respect for this individual! He cares so much for his students and is extremely funny! If you go to DBU you have no choice, but to take him, but it is extremely worth it! I wish I could take him for all of my classes.
He was a good teacher but did not seem to know the material that he was teaching.
Took his Time Management class just prior to my first fall semester. Very, very easy class. Must read the book to write a few one-page papers about your OPINION, but it's an easy A if you just do your work. Easy to talk, negotiate, and work with. Would gladly take his class again. Definitely recommend!
Very easy class. MUST show up, but the few tests are just from the class lectures. You are given notes and must fill them in. I didn't buy the book, but borrowed from a friend when I needed it. He is a great story-teller, easy to talk with, easy to negotiate your grade with. Would definitely recommend him and take his class again.
Great Prof! Class is super interesting! Be sure to show up and pay attention, but he's really great. Super helpful, very nice.
He's great! You have to pay attention, but he's a really funny guy. Highly recommend.
His way or the highway; extremely opinionated, teaches a "Christian Leadership" class yet had questionable, out of context Biblical views we were then tested on. Asks opinionated questions but only wants you to say what he thinks is correct. He's the only professor for the class so I had to take him, but did not enjoy it at all.
Jamie Lash can be entertaining at times but many days I have trouble staying awake in class. You have to take him though if you are on the CLS scholarship. When quoting scripture, he likes to pull out his own interpretation and can be entirely wrong. You will have to read a book he helped write for the quizzes online.
Lectures are long and boring, but attendance is kept. Kills forests with how much he makes students print out, it's ridiculous. Unfortunately no other professor options, so good luck and learn to zone out. Study for the tests a little bit and do the daily homework and you'll get an A+.
There are no words. This guy is the worst.
He is the worst professor I have ever had. His tests are ridiculous. He tests off of his own opinion and you must sign in for every single class and will be penalized if you do not.
He is self centered and is the worst. Point Blank.
This was the worst class I've ever taken. It is based completely off of Jamie Lash's opinions, contains questionable theology, and is incredibly boring. So sad to me that a class that is mandatory for so many students is being taught this way when it has the potential to be an amazing class.
Seriously the worst professor I have ever had. Gave me and four others a D in the class. The class is over his Biblical opinion which is annoying..
CLS is the most pointless class ever. Don't get me wrong, I'm glad I have the CLS scholarship but making me take a CLS class because of it, is just pointless. When I found out that this class did not affect my GPA whatsoever, I lost all motivation and started watching YouTube videos or other hobbies instead of listening. CLS class Study Hall.
Ok so his textbook is literally a book he wrote. He films himself everyday because he believes the words he speaks are greatness. Never gives credit to others except himself. Homework due before every class. No electronics bc you won't be focusing on him enough, and makes you print off a 92 paged notebook + whatever he wants. SUCKS
This class was definitely not a good class to take. I also had Time Management with this professor. He is very bias in his opinion. f you miss even a single period or word, you're wrong. On opinion-based questions, if your opinion isn't his it's wrong. If you write your experience, chances are you could be wrong somehow. I do not suggest him.
Going to class was so hard because he literally talks the entire time and though he's not monotone, he is still incredibly boring and dry.
Have a positive attitude, and you'll learn a lot.
The worst class I have ever taken. He should not be giving exams for a zero credit class. Honestly I have so many better things to be doing with my life. Doesn't even affect your GPA so you can get away with a D. The material is great to learn but the way he addresses it is very dry and boring. Study a little for the exams and you'll be fine
He defiantly knows his material well. However, that is the problem. He lectures with a sense of passive entitlement. As if his class is more important than others. While his material is good, he places an unnecessary burden on his students. He tries to hard to get the class to walk away with something to the point where it is forceful.
I came into this class excited to learn something about Christian leadership in itself. Im currently in this class and have passed all exams easily. If you go to the review sessions, its an easy A. He has good material on paper but has a hard time keeping the attention of students because its all in all, boring and seems very scripted.
Hes incredibly entitled for teaching a basic freshman class. Attendance is mandatory but I showed up early to sign and in and then left every day. Go to the review sessions before the tests and youll be fine.
I often disagreed with his theology, yet he taught as if his interpretation was gospel. Often it was out of context or just an individual interpretation. I also had a difficult time getting him to respond when scheduling a make up exam. Often unable to answer questions asked in class. Often repeats lectures because he forgot he already taught them.
Lash isn't the greatest professor, but he isn't nearly as bad as people say. Go into the class with an open mind!! Don't listen to anyone elses opinion, make your own opinion. there will be many people that hate him and take everything he says out of context and to the extreme. This class has some good lessons, you just have to look harder for them
Lash is very knowledgeable about the Bible and theology, but he is very close minded. Do not disagree with him because you'll regret it. He isn't terrible if you go into it really wanting learn, but other than that he's very boring. DO NOT get too many absences because you WILL fail. It has happened to my friends. Just suck it up and go.
Lash taught out of a book that he wrote. There were some questionable things he taught that was not biblical that he stood on. I did all the work and if it was not the answer he wanted, you would not get an on the assignment. I felt like a robot that just said what he wanted to hear so could get a grade. That is not what college should be about.
Jamie Lash is a very interesting professor, but he teaches some questionable material. Seems to get defensive very easily if someone questions his beliefs. Do the assignments and get the answers for the exam study guides on quizlet. Study the study guide for an easy A.
He is not a terrible person as other reviews may make him seem, but the class was not enjoyable for me. You are only allowed to miss 6 classes I think, and I skipped them all LOL. It's just boring and was not helpful personally in developing into a Christian leader more than I was before the class. Tests are easy if you memorize the study guide.
You have to take this class so go to every one & pay attention or you wont do a good job on tests! He puts questions on there that wasnt even on the review bc theyre in lectures. Go to every review class he has! Its very helpful! Do all the homework & study, youll be fine!
It's only the first day and he knew my name when I left the room without me even introducing myself. Good luck.
This professor has some very small nuggets of wisdom that can be drawn from the class. However, you will soon realize his biblical hermeneutic skills are lacking. His claims about the story of Jacob and Esau, the cure for anxiety and depression, and numerous other issues are misplaced and almost offensive at times, not to mention his grading is yuck
Jamie Lash is a big joke around DBU, but I think that is horrible and un-christlike. He may teach a few things that I did not agree with, but I could see where he was coming from. A lot of things people say are just them misconstruing what he has said. Please be open-minded and form your own opinions. He is a person and deserves respect. :)
Jamie Lash has amazing lectures and every time we have class I come out with a new prospective. If you battle anxiety he has plenty of lessons on overcoming it. His stories are plentiful and I have gained so much insight from him. If you want to spiritually grow, he is the person to listen to.
Lash really isn't as bad as the reviews made him seem. He does say some things that are questionable, and his lectures can feel long and boring. Tests are pretty easy if you study/do the review (the test is literally the review). Homework is pretty easy, just annoying to do. Overall, not bad. Have an open mind.
He is an awful professor, people are saying he isn't that bad, but he will fail you just for disagreeing with him on topics. He teaches from the book he wrote like it is from the Bible. Would not take this class.
I didn't mind taking Professor Lash's class but I will give a heads up, DO NOT TAKE HIS 8:30 IF YOU ARE NOT A MORNING PERSON, just because the class itself is a full on lecture class and I promise you will fall asleep. Although class sizes are bigger for DBU he does take attendance every day.
Oh my gosh. No. Sorry CLS students having to take this by him. It isn't the hardest thing ever but it really really sucks.
Ehh, he isn't horrible. He just has a VERY strange doctrine, and grades just as strangely. Doesn't really seem open minded either. Its a shame too, this class feels so detached from what you're doing for the scholarship. I feel like I'm in an echo chamber by saying this, but his teaching and the class is blah. Feels like too much work for 0 credits
Lash definitely isn't everyone's cup of tea, but not terrible. Rally cares about the subject he is teaching and believes it's all valuable info (and some of it actually is!). Some of what he teaches about the Bible "storing up treasures in heaven" is questionable in the beginning but that's my opinion. Show up, do the test reviews, and you'll be ok
Everyone says Lash is terrible, and it's for a reason. If you search for meaning in this class you can find it, and people are overly cruel. But that's because no one likes being talked down to while their time is being wasted. Lash is a bad teacher. The content is whatever, but he presents it horribly. Replace him.
Professor Lash really does have good intentions, but you'll hear a lot of crap about him before you ever walk into class. Memorize the verses, read the book, show up to class, and you'll easily pass. Just don't take him at 8 am or you'll definitely fall asleep. Also, go to his study guide sessions and he'll give you the answers to the exams.
Lash is a wonderful example of Christ in the classroom. He cares for his students' spiritual growth immensely. In most cases, before you walk in the classroom for the first time, he'll already know your name and face, because he so intentionally wants to get to know you. I have mad respect for him! Go to review sessions and you'll excel!
This teacher is just really annoying and accuses students of cheating with no proof. A friend of mine failed his class just because they did good enough on a test that he thought they had to cheated so he decided to fail them.
Professor Lash has a much worse reputation than he deserves. I went in expecting a terrible experience but found the class to actually be fairly interesting and engaging. While I wouldn't choose to take it again, it wasn't a terrible class to have to take for one semester. Professor Lash is a nice man, but his teaching style is not the best.
Lash is not as bad as people make him out to be. He can seem like a know it all at times, but he definitely has his students' best interest in mind and does everything he can to help you pass. The homework can be very specific to the textbook and the grading can be nitpicky but I didn't hate the class by any means.
Dr. Lash is not as bad as everyone says. I definitely made the mistake of showing up the first day of class with a closed mindset based off of everyone else's opinions of him. He really is a very nice man. Just take everything he says with a grain of salt. Show up, listen to the lectures, TAKE NOTES (answers to tests), pass the class. Done.
Jamie Lash stands out as one of my most memorable and appreciated teachers, not for the subject of FINANCE, that I took under him, but because he sees much further and more deeply than the short-term benefits of these details. He is thinking and looking eternally, at each students salvation and encouraging a life walked in Jesus Christ's footsteps.
Jamie lash is one of the most intelligent professors Ive ever had. Since Ive been in his class, Ive experienced freedom from things I didnt even know were holding me back. If you take the time to listen to him, you will get so much from him and gain wisdom and insight that will change your life!!
My issue with this professor was the lack of care he had for how what he said effected his students. He was very derogatory when talking about mental health. I truly wish there were other options for professors with this class. I want whoever taking this to be mentally prepared for lots of cruel statements.
DON'T TAKE HIM
Doesn't know what he is talking about. Said that if you struggle with depression or anxiety then you don't have enough faith. Probably should take a psych class or two if he's gonna talk like that.
Professor Lash not only espouses questionable theology, but also expects far too much of students for a class that is worth zero credits. The class is easy enough but the tests are made up of random arbitrary information that he mentions in the lectures. Covers about 10 minutes worth of material over the hour long class.
only professor offered for this course he has strange quirks overall class is biblical because its for a Christian scholarship so his approach to different topics is going to be focused on spiritual life many do not like the way he talks about mental health but I feel like yes there are other factors but that's not what the class is about
I do not agree with his theology which made it hard to take away anything from this class. Easy assignments but too many for zero credit hours. He is passionate about what he teaches, I'll give him that. I hope that DBU actually reads through their course evaluations because I think there should be more options for who teaches this class.
I will say that this class is what made me an atheist. Assignments are easy though, and he can be funny.
Lash, I'm sure is a nice guy, but he is leading people astray. The book This Was Your Life! has the worst theology in the world. It's about them having visions and meeting God and that you have to be good people in order to earn his favor. WRONG and I'm tired of the deceit. Be warned and be on guard. Know your Bible. His word is not The Word.
Horrible theology and has incorrect views when it comes to biology and psychology.
Covered way more zoology than Christian Leadership. Useless, but you have to take the class. Take the spiritual concepts he presents with a grain of salt. Do all the homework, and pay attention to the extra credit and you will be fine. More about your ability to reiterate his opinions, then you having an actual opinion.
Professor Lash honestly cares about all of his students. His class helped me find ways to flee anxiety and other common pitfalls of Christians. Many people take this class for granted and forget that it is part of a scholarship they receive at DBU, so I would recommend listening to his advice on gratitude and selflessness.
He is a better professor than others would indicate. He cares about students and wants to make a positive impact in their lives. I only have two issues: there is too much homework and studying for a 0-credit class and the concepts may (only sometimes) be a bit simplistic and specific only to certain situations. Overall, he is a good professor.
He makes a zero credit course more work than all the other classes you have combined. He makes the students study and read out of a book that he wrote.
Absolutely horrible
If you can get ahead on all of your homework, you will be fine. Yes, there are assignments due before every class but they're like 5-10 question assignments based on super short chapters in his book. It's tedious and annoying, but the class is required. You'll be okay if you are organized and can stay ahead.
I think everyone is being dramatic. He is kinda creepy and his analogies can be super weird, but that's life. It's a lot of work for a 0 credit hr class that is doable if you manage your time.I can see where he's coming from usually... his delivery on concepts can just be off-putting. I wouldn't take him again but it wasn't the end of the world.
It's a 0 credit class and it has about as much work as my 4 credit hour classes. You have to take it if you have the scholarship, just be prepared. Exams have content from anything to facts about cows and gorillas to Bible memory verses.
Be aware, he isn't the most accommodating professor in the world. So students with disabilities will have to problem solve outside of him. Even though his theology can be a little wack, you can still learn some things from his lessons. Just let God guide you through the class and it will be ok.
Learned more about Christ through Forest Gump than from this guy!
Professor Lash is a terrible teacher, he talks about random things that do not relate to Christian leadership. Tests are difficult, all answer choices seem correct, and again do not relate to the topic of the class. I did not learn much in this class. Do not recommend.
You have to take him if you have the CLS scholarship. Show up for class and do the homework; study for the exams (you can find help online). Don't let it bring your other studies down.
Professor Lash's class has a lot of work for a 0-credit course, but it's worth it if you have the scholarship. Attend lectures, do the readings, and use tools like Unstuck ai to ace the exams covering diverse topics. Overall, it's a solid class.
