Great class - very engaging material, and the topics are really accessible. If you participate in class and pay attention to the lectures, you'll do really well on the quizzes and final.
Class topics are pretty simple, but Professor Leddin keeps the course very engaging. She is a great lecturer, but could be more specific on assignment expectations. Overall would recommend her class.
I understand that some might like her, but if you are used to either STEM or reading intensive classes, she might not be for you -- but please be respectful to others. In her class, listening to stories of success, benefits of team work, and "powerful words to use," I constantly wondered why I even existed in this world.
jamie leddin is an angel she tries so hard to make a really boring class interesting, but the material is so mind-numbing that even with a really enthusiastic professor, it was a real struggle to pay attention. class really isn't hard if you show up and raise your hand once a lecture to participate also one big group project
Pretty easy material and not a hard A if you play it right. If you participate once per class, study for the daily quizzes (they cover notes from the previous class), and do the homework on time, then that's 45% of your grade. The other 55% is the final exam and final project, so just don't underestimate them, and you'll be fine. An A isn't hard.
Materials are boring and she tried to make jokes in the class. Tough during office sometimes. Weekly quizzes plus a group paper plus a final. Must participate in class to receive credits. Take it for credit, if not, not worth the time.
Jamie is really well-versed in her field and has a lot of career experience, therefore her lectures are very applicable to real life. You need to take notes in class and study those for the quizzes/exam, and there is a group project but definitely a fairly easy A.
nice lady, very energetic, easy A
She's a good teacher with tons of relevant work experience. Class is an easy A if you take notes in class and participate every now and then. Group project seems daunting but she grades easily. She was available outside of class and gives good career advice.
Professor Leddin has a eccentric personality that she tries to bring into her lectures because it's a lot at one time and she tries to make it easily digestible. Overall, the class wasn't too bad.
do well on final and group paper, besides that not a lot of work
Great professor! Definitely cares about what she teaches. Lecture heavy but not hard info, everyday there's a quiz over the last lecture. Textbook is kind of useful if you use it to review, but if she doesn't cover things in class it won't be on the quizzes or final. Group project is worth a lot. Participation matters, but not a huge deal.
Very educated and experienced in the subject. In the classroom she's energetic and participation matters in your grade. Daily quizzes but if you took notes and reviewed them they are not bad. Group project and final exam. Easily accessible to talk to in office hours and learn more about the business world.
She uses every anecdote as an opportunity to flex her illustrious business experience. The material is incredibly dry and shouldn't merit being its own class, so she makes participation a big deal to make sure someone still shows up. Not a mean lady, just thinks a lot of herself and wants you to know it so you don't judge her for teaching OB.
One of the most excruciatingly boring classes at Vanderbilt. Prof Leddin is cringeworthy at best, thinks extremely highly of herself, and is fake to the point of making everyone in the room uncomfortable. Participation policy is a joke and means the entire class is just people raising hands to ask a stupid question for credit. Joke class, AVOID.
You don't learn anything because it is just mumbo jumbo common sense topics that everyone knows. As another review said, it is just people raising their hands asking dumb questions to get participation points. There are also easy quizzes a group project, and a final. It is very easy but also a waste of time, unfortunately.
Easy class and great lecturer. The material is very simple/common sense, but she teaches it in an engaging way that makes the information seem very relevant. One of my favorite professors at Vanderbilt. Easy quizzes, final, and project. Would highly recommend.
I think this class would have been more difficult on campus, but online it was very easy. The lectures turned into a relative waste of time because of all the random questions asked just for participation. However, Dr. Leddin cared about her students and really believes the material that she teaches is important.
In-class participation is very important. Group project isn't too bad. Decent lecturer which is helped by interesting material. Really nice and caring person. Knows what she is talking about. You need to talk a lot in class to get participation points.
Relatively an easy A. There are small quizzes every session that go over last session's main points, but pretty straightforward. Participation matters, so a lot of people ask pointless questions. Material is also common-sense, so lectures can get boring. Group paper can be tedious if no one does work, but the TA grades really easily.
Class is obvious/common sense most of the time. Didn't feel like she handled online super well, was not super receptive to technical issues. Because of participation half the class is people asking obvious questions.
Awful class experience and not a good professor. Materials she covered in class almost not show up on quiz. You need to read lots of textbook for quiz. Online homework is an alternative name for quiz, which can be done only once with no chance for revision. Participation is a mess. Avoid at any cost.
I did not enjoy this class. A 3rd grader could understand the content, yet Leddin chooses to make the assessments needlessly difficult and the quiz questions hyperspecific. I think she means well but something about her seems disingenuous, and I felt like she was trying to trip students up. Her participation policy leads to mindless questions.
Jamie is the absolute best. I do not understand why she has a 3.4 on here. Every class she teaches is a joy and could not be easier. She is by far my favorite professor at Vandy and I'd highly recommend her to anyone.
Every time I enter Professor Leddin's classroom, I'm reminded why I decided to go to Vandy. She is encouraging and smart. Thankful for her!
Prof. Leddin was one of my favorite professors at Vanderbilt! Shes extremely personable and provides really engaging lectures. Shes accessible outside of class and seems to really want her students to do well. Would definitely recommend!
Professor Leddin is the easiest, most caring, and sincere professor I have had at Vanderbilt. Like some of the other reviews have said, I have no clue why she has anyone complaining. She is the greatest!!
Leddin is not caring nor sincere. The material is fine and mandatory for the business minor, so I'd advise seeking a different OB professor. She portrays herself as caring and understanding of students, but she's the polar opposite. She does not listen to students' concerns, show any empathy toward students, nor accommodate any student problems.
Prof. Leddin brings incredible energy to every lecture and makes the material very engaging. The reading quizzes can be pretty annoying, but overall the workload is very manageable and the class is an easy A. (p.s. if you take this class, PLEASE only ask ONE question per lecture, that's all u need for participation).
The class is easy and an easy A, but most of class is unfortunately filled with students asking random questions to fulfill the participation requirement (10% of your grade). The material was interesting and I wish Prof Leddin spent more class time on material rather than questions.
In hindsight this class was fine. The content is common sense, but the online quizzes are overly complicated and confusing. You need to participate every class, which means people write the ridiculous comments in the Zoom chat. Group project is HUGE part of the grade, but your grade is not dependent on other group members.
One of the best professors that I have ever had. Prof. Leddin is caring, compassionate, and a star of the Vanderbilt business minor program. She is readily accessible via office hours and will continue to advocate for you long after you have taken her class. Do yourself a favor and take this class!
Prof. Leddin's class takes a subject I didn't think I would care about and made it apart of my every day life. Her wit and wisdom made going to class a pleasure. She deserves the world and don't believe a single negative review of her that you might read. One of the cartoons she showed in class makes me laugh to this day.
Get ready for your life to be changed. Group projects are a necessity but you can make it work. I loved this class and am beyond grateful for Prof. Leddin's teachings. 10/10 would take again.
Content is so easy to understand but the quizzes were unnecessarily specific/detailed. Group project is major part of your grade but largely scored on individual contribution. Participation requirement is disruptive because people ask useless questions. Straightforward final exam. Class would've been pretty boring without Prof. Leddin's liveliness!
Prof. Leddin takes care of all her students. Everyone who takes BUS 2400 at Vandy should take it with Prof. Leddin.
The best class I have taken at Vanderbilt. Do whatever you can do to take this class.
Go to office hours! Prof. Leddin has helped me so much in my ability to network and get connections within the Business Minor program. I love this women like she is my mother. Do everything you can to take this class!
Prof. Leddin makes zoom lectures fun! I would recommend this class to anyone who wants to get a better feel for business regardless if you plan on declaring a Business minor. Best intro class ever!
I have no idea what all the negative reviews are about. Prof. Leddin is one of the kindest, sweetest, and most caring professor at Vanderbilt. Her class is the reason why I am pursuing a business minor. Please do yourself a favor and take her class.
I learned so much in this class. Prof. Leddin goes above and beyond for her students and I am so lucky to have had her as a Business professor!
I love this women. Everyone needs to take her class!
Prof. Leddin is easily the kindest, most caring professor out there at Vanderbilt. I still regularly use most things I learned in this class!
While there is a group project in this class, the professor makes it very easy to maintain a good grade even if left with a few interesting group members. Prof. Leddin is very caring and obviously knows her stuff. Definitely would take this class again!
Prof leddin is passionate about content and very clear in her expectations. OB really is an easy A. But the participation should be graded differently - everyone just did it through unneeded annoying zoom chats rather than ask in class.
Participation is annoying, considering she basically forces you to ask questions. Rest of the class was doable - HWs are fair, final project & exam both were not impossible to complete. She is clearly passionate about her job and brings that enthusiasm to her teaching style. Super positive, friendly, great teacher.
I love Prof Leddin! She genuinely made me want to go to class and kept the class extremely straightforward to get an A. Wish she taught other courses, would love to learn more from her. Side note, lots of assignments but grades were easy and based on the rubric. 10/10 class and prof
Prof. Leddin is caring and passionate, and it's a pleasure to listen to her lecture. The course is easy and the HW consists of easy short essays. With that being said, the participation requirement makes students ask questions indefinitely and sometimes interrupts the class progress
Terrible organization
This was simply the worst college course I have ever taken. She is very defensive and abrasive if you ask for feedback or question her grading. There is little to no effort given on her part in structuring the course. There is essentially no content taught. The entire class is a popularity contest, with most of your grade coming from peers.
Take Professor Park instead
Really confuzled by the structure and grading. No clear direction ever given
I am so sorry, I have never written one of these but this was such a poor experience. I am very disappointed in how little I learned given the amount of work required.
I am sure she means well, but gee golly make sure you pay attention in class. She will absolutely roast you if she catches you staring off in to space. Whew!!
Leddin is a nice lady, but her class is not structured well. There is almost no rubric on how you will be graded so there's no much to go off of. Overall, I was confused the entire time.
I think these are a little harsh but I would say that the class was inconsistent
Grading for this class is usually homework (paper) + participation + group presentation. However, she would give 100% homework grades for everyone, and then intentionally "distinguish" some students with low grades for minor issues (and minimum feedback). Unfair and unprofessional.
You can get a 98% cumulative grade on all coursework and not get an "A".
Professor Leddin is awesome, I strongly encourage taking her class.
Jamie was one of the best, if not the best prof I had during my MBA. Would take any course she offered just to be in the classroom with her.
Professor Leddin is a gem of a professor. I could not recommend her enough. She is extremely engaging and is truly invested in her students. As long as you go to class prepared every day and do all of the assignments, you will have no problem securing a good grade. Undoubtedly the best option for Negotiation.
Prof. Leddin is one of my favorite professors at Vandy! Took Org Behavior with her. Not sure where these other comments are coming from, but her expectations are honestly very clear and it's not hard to do well. If you're looking for a professor who actually cares, and if you want a mentor in business, take her class, you won't regret it.
Dr. Leddin is a gem! She is supportive, caring, and sweet and goes the extra mile for her students outside the classroom. I have never encountered a professor who engages with her students like she does, and I would 100% recommend Dr. Leddin to anyone looking for a Business class.
Professor Leddin utilizes interesting lessons, lectures, and negotiation simulations to teach us. This has been the most informative and useful class I have taken so far this semester. Highly recommend prof Leddin and BUSA 3105.
Professor Leddin values participation and attendance more than other professors. This is to the benefit of the student and greatly enhanced my classroom experience. She is very engaging and is more than willing to provide help outside of class. This is not a hard class, but be prepared to participate and be engaged in class negotiations.
If you are a business minor or HOD, make sure to take Negotiation with Professor Leddin. She is easily one of my favorite professors from the business department. The material is very digestible and applicable, and I find myself using much of what I learned in interviews, other classes, and even outside of school.
pretty easy and solid class but there was a good bit of assignments so I wouldn't recommend it if you have problems with organization. Most(or all) grading is done by the TA, which is usually a good thing. She's really nice and knows what she's talking about and I could totally see myself and others going to her for career/life advice.
Great professor! Utilizes engaging questions to manifest class discussion, making keeping up with material, and application in weekly negotiations easy and accessible. Go to class, you will love it, and when you do you will get an A!
Dr. Leddin was one of the best professors I had at Vanderbilt. She is incredibly thoughtful, caring, and intelligent. She makes a significant effort to accelerate your career—especially if you are in business. The class itself is fun and engaging. There is a decent amount of work, but you get into the flow pretty quickly and she grades leniently.
Prof. Leddin is the best professor I've ever had! She is incredibly supportive, and her lectures are always engaging. Negotiation simulations are interactive and fun. She provides great insights while being readily available for questions. Expectations are clear, and the coursework is manageable and fair. 100% recommend taking this class with her!
Ok so shes kinda crazy but you kinda love it. She is SO GOOD at negotiation and business and she knows it. It's a class that requires some effort but I learned so much and it was my favorite class this semester. Also DO NOT BE LATE or she will call you out in front of the whole class and then murder you with a knife probably. Definitely take.
Literally best professor ever! She is absolutely hilarious and brings so much energy to every class. There's kind of a lot of work but it's more tedious than difficult. She really cares about her students and wants to get to know you outside of class. You can learn so much (real-world-applicable!) information from this woman
Dr. Leddin is the best professor on Vandy's campus. She is emotionally intelligent, kind and extremely funny. It is hard to be bored during a lecture with her. Her grading criteria is clear, and I wish other professors were like her. Taking Negotiation with her is the best decision I have made as an undergraduate student. She is simply the best!
Prof. Leddin is one of the best teachers at Vanderbilt. She cares deeply about her students and as long as you involve yourself in the class, which is easy -- read, do the homework, ask questions -- you'll really enjoy this course. She makes it easy to know what's expected of you and is honestly so great in office hours and has such good insights!
Professor Leddin is an amazing teacher - very fair and passionate about her students' success. Her number one goal is always her students' learning, and it shows in every class. She makes the material practical, engaging, and easy to follow. Great experience - highly recommend!
Professor Leddin was easily one of the best professors I have ever had. She is extremely caring and is super informative. Class attendance is mandatory but not a chore. Leddin is super engaging and you really do learn a lot in her class.
Dr. Leddin is one of the most engaging and impactful instructors I've had at Vanderbilt. Her energetic, humorous, and welcoming teaching style created a classroom environment where students felt comfortable, connected, and genuinely excited to learn.
Dr. Leddin is incredible! She cares so much about her students, and the class is informative and straightforward. Be sure to come on time and participate. If you put in the work you will get an A.
Dr. Leddin is kind, funny, and extremely smart. The class was easy as long as you show up and skim the readings. She genuinely wants you to learn and succeed. I learned so much and will fs take a class with her again. She is tough if you don't follow her like 3 guidelines, but if you're respectful it should be an easy A.
Dr. Leddin is the best Professor I have ever had. She is incredibly smart and kind. She does cold call so do the readings, but I cannot recommend you take this class enough.
Dr. Leddin is amazing, and her class is very engaging. I learned a lot- definitely recommend!
Professor Leddin sometimes made comments that felt uncomfortable. She also has a dismissive and condescending tone asking questions one on one, which is why I often avoided asking questions about assignments, etc. She spends lots of time advertising her husband's books which is irrelevant to class. However, the class itself is easy and very fair.
Her lectures are pretty engaging, and the negotiations are honestly a lot of fun. I feel like I actually learned a lot of good stuff in this class, and it wasn't hard. Sometimes it feels like a lot of busy work, but it's easy to get an A. There are also these daily quizzes from articles, but honestly, they are pretty intuitive without reading.
