Had him at 8AM MWF and Prof. McCandless never put me to sleep. His lectures weren't particularly interesting all the time, but he is great for a history teacher. Would take him again if I could for US History. He responds to emails quick, sticks to his word, and is really witty. Lowkey hilarious af. Take him if you have the opportunity!

I really enjoyed this class, he kept lectures interesting with some jokes here and there. There are a quiz on each chapter and this class does not rely on exams, instead you will write a few papers but he grades them very lightly as it is a Gen Ed. class. As a senior i thought it was a nice and easy class to mix in with my work-heavy, classes.

Professor Mccandless was new to KSU and made a lot of jokes to light up a boring subject. There is a quiz on each chapter, 5 engagements with groups in class or online in a discussion, 2 exams (including the final, which were in class essays), and 2 writing assignments. This is not an easy A and is a bit of a challenge but I recommend him fully.

There's 10 quizzes throughout the semester but there is an online practice quiz to help you study for each quiz. The only tests are the midterm and the final which are both essay format. Overall, he is an okay teacher. I took his 8 wk class online over the summer. His quizzes are a little hard and you NEED the book to answer them. Every week we had quizzes, discussion posts and writing assignments between 500-750 words. He grades the writing assignments a little to harshly. Also, he has his own grading scale where a 90-91 is a B.

I did get by, by not doing some readings but it would help a lot to do them. There is a quiz every week but it is 4 questions max and he often gave the answers for the questions in class before the quiz. Some of the quizzes were open book and notes and some were only open notes. Two tests (midtern and final exam) group project, and discussions.

Be ready to write papers. Do every extra credit assignment.Quizzes are 2 attempts and open notes no lockdown. 5, 500-word papers and you get 2 attempts. Very understanding and is an easy class to pass just don't slack. If you stay up in the beginning of the semester you may not have to do later assignments. Take him, good luck!

Pros: clear organization of the course, good communicatio, takes late work without penalty, friendly, lots of extra credit, passionate about the subject. Cons: lots of reading- a chapter a week, can be very picky about answers on quizzes, some writing assignments tough for a survey course or if you are not into history

Instructions for assignments are vague. Grades discussion posts and essays harshly. Quizzes ask for extremely specific details from the video lectures. Quizzes are 10 questions in 10 minutes with some free response. Majority of grade is based on discussion posts and essays

Sometimes the weekly quizzes can be tricky, but generally, he is a nice grader and a nice guy overall. Just be prepared for a lot of reading if you want to do well in this class.

Very good professor, he was very funny and seemed pretty chill. You will have to do some reading and work outside of class to do well in this class but other than that I wouldn't say that it was a hard class. He is open to critique and communicates well.

Do not take this professor. He is extremely picky about discussion posts and free-response questions. I mean he literally nitpicks at every single little thing just to take off points. Also, don't bother asking him questions because he will embarrass and belittle you in front of your classmates. Good luck!

good professor, he takes the job seriously, expect weekly quizzes and discussion posts, plus a midterm and final. quizzes are taken as a group then individually. he gives good feedback on the discussions as well. do the work and you should get an A. also he drops the 3 lowest quizzes and discussions post grades.

Worst professor I've ever taken. DO NOT TAKE IF YOU DON'T WANT TO STRESS ABOUT A SMALL ELECTIVE CLASS. Nitpicks every single thing you do.

he's funny and the class was straightforward. be prepared for group discussion posts (one every week) and learning the material for the weekly quizzes (we had to read the online textbook on our own time, there were no lectures except for zoom meetings on fridays)

This class should have been enjoyable, but the grading was extremely strict. The professor relies on unreliable AI detectors and docks points for them. I had to rewrite essays multiple times even when he said my ideas were right, just not presented how he liked.

Lots of writing but I personally found his grading to be very lenient. He also has weekly quizzes based on the unit, 10 questions, 2 attempts, and the second attempt is only the incorrect answers you missed on the first attempt. Overall, very easy class and I recommend him for sure.
