Dr Mitchem is a great new addition to our earth science dept. He is friendly and funny. I like his southern accent. He's a cutie. I swear the earth science dept. has the best looking professors. Kaufmann, Mueller, Wickham and now Mitchem HOT!

This was an easy class... Yes, there are alot of power point slides but they are all posted online. I would recommend his course to anyone who wants to take a class that is easy, and somewhat interesting.

HIS CLASS IS VERY EASY. ALL NOTES(POWER POINT SLIDES) IS ON BLACKBOARD. HE IS A GOOD PROFESSOR AND HELPS YOU IF YOU ASK HIM TOO. WOULD BE A GOOD AND EASY CLASS TO TAKE ONLINE IF THEY HAVE IT.

He is cute, but there is no point to go to class because all the notes are on blackboard. The only problem with the class is that there are all four tests to make up your grade which can be a bad thing if you do bad on one. oh, and there are 1398479579813987 slides for one test. Way too much info.

Awesome prof. Clear, concise, and interesting. A lot of information, but listen and don't write everything down. His tests aren't hard, but there's a lot of info. Southern accent is a killer sometimes too....

Very good teacher. I already like science, but Dr. Mitchem made it fascinating and easy to learn. A little like listening to Forrest Gump, only way smarter and more interesting. He's a great guy and a great teacher. I hope I can take more of his classes in the future. A+

He is nice- but watching power pnt. presentations w/ the lights off will put u 2 sleep.ur hand will feel like its going to fall off from all the notes u write.he puts the slides on the net- so its kinda pointless to go to class- but will sometimes take random attendance if he sees not alot of ppl are there & give the ppl there bonus points.

VERY easy class, take the notes, study his reviews and you'll pass all 4 exams. The entire class is built around the notes so if you don't like writing don't take the class. He doesn't really "teach" just reads the notes so its kind of boring, but extremely easy and Mitchem is a very nice man.

Hes a very nice guy and he helps you out a ton! He talks like hes...yeah. But hes a super nice guy and will help ya and always tell u about tutoring. Only set back is theres a million slides

If you need a science class with a lab- this is the class to take. its easy. all you do is listen to him read the power point slides and take notes. the tests can be tricky w/ the way he words things though

Dr. Mitchem is such a nice, down to earth professor. He is one of the most helpful professors I've had. His classes are very interesting, and his tests and assignments challenging but very fair. An overall very great professor, you have to take one of his classes at some point. Thanks, Dr. Mitchem!!

great class - follow along with powerpoint and take good notes and you'll do great - some online assignments but you can use your book and notes - 2nd and 3rd tests are kinda hard so STUDY

That would be would be Emergency Management. Dr. Mitchem is my advisor and he's the whole reason why I'm a science major now. He's the most aweome professor I think I've ever had and I highly recommend him to anyone. I only wish I could take more of his classes :)

He seems like such a dork, but I guess that's good thing. His class is easy, just Powerpoint presentations daily, some easy homework assignments that give you a ton of free points, and tests that follow the Powerpoint. He's a nice guy though and makes lame jokes that somehow are funny because he's so nerdy!

He's a very nice guy that gives you alot of extra assignments that bring your grade up. He just goes over his powerpoint notes. You really have to study your notes though because there is alot of material that he goes over. I suggest you take him for science.

Mitchem is the nicest and sweetest Professor at Cal. If you go to classes, pay attention, and study the review he gives you will do great. He also assigns homework on blackboard that boosts your grade.

He's a GREAT prof. Always shows applications of the stuff we learned in class so we know how it applies to the real world. He's crystal clear when he explains stuff and is always willing to help you if you're having a hard time but really GISC1101 is a pretty easy course. I have him for Cartography and I'll def. take him for more classes :)

best science teacher!! i'm not a science major and i needed a science class for my associates so glad i chose him. easy class!! 4 tests(if you go to class everyday lowest grade gets replaced with the highest) 4th test is your final. 4, 1-2 page, essays (extremely easy) no quizzes. book isn't needed. only way to fail is not doing any of the work.

Here's a guy who understands that not everyone is a science major. He teaches the subject so that you can understand it without the majority of complicated formulas; and for the lab portion, he'll walk you through that stuff. I was already interested in weather before I took the class, and he helped expand that. Seriously, a great professor.

Best science class ever. He makes the class interesting and works to avoid the minutia. You don't need the textbook and there are no quizzes. There are four brief essays and four tests. The labs are done together and like other have said, he walks you through it. So glad I took this class!

He's a good man He cares about his students. He's enthusiastic. Turn off your computer and listen to him and you won't need to study much to get a good grade. You'll learn a lot too. He could shorten the lectures a little. Overall, it was an excellent class.

Dr. Mitchem loves his subject. When I took this class, it was the first time that he had ever taught it. We had to write 2-3 page essays every week. That was also the test format. We did one group project.

Dr. Mitchem is a great professor. He is easy to listen to, and you can honestly just pass the class by showing up. I read the assigned book for more background, but he only has about two questions per test having to do with the book which is manageable if you study.

Show up, do the homework (3-4 page essays every week -_- ), there's a group project, and take home tests. Not hard at all. He's a very easy grader, you'll get an A+ easily.

A super super super great teacher! You will however need to write 1 essay a week, but its all information based and he tells you exactly what hes looking for so theres no confusion. Would highly recommend and would take him again!

He is very nice! You don't need the textbook to pass the class. Homework is graded very easily! Make sure you pay attention to what he talks about, because he only tests on things discussed during class.

I took his class in the summer. Very easy class as long as you show up and do your work. If you have perfect attendance, he replaces your lowest test grade with you highest test grade. His lectures are pretty boring, but if you're into weather than his lectures are fun, I guess. He is pretty funny and he curves all tests.

If you're unsure of something, go up and ask him, he will give you the tools you need to pass plain and simple

Jamie Mitchem is so passionate for weather ! he loves what he does and teaches. The class consist of power points and In class labs and only 5 paragraph length homeworks. I 100% recommend this class for someone who does not want to take a physics or a biology. The class does drag a little but its just due to the fact the class is a littlelong

Dr. Mitchem is a true gem. He loves climatology and weather and that's what makes the class great. He's not a tough test-giver, all questions are straight from the slides, plus he does a great review. He does lump the class and lab into one 2.5hr class, but it's very doable. Don't need a book for lecture, but you do for lab

I loved Dr. Mitchem and his class. He is the nicest guy you'll ever have and is very reasonable with his tests and labs. This class was a good intro to geography and country diversity around the world. 5 tests + 5 map quizzes, 5 summaries of different countries, and the final was not cumulative. Prof. Mitchem is a really nice guy. His class is nothing but lectures with powerpoint and occasionally a video. It can be a little boring sometimes but he is passionate about the material so that helps keeping you interested. The tests are pretty easy if you study the power points. Map Quizzes are super easy. Easy A and I learned a lot. Recommended

He's a great professor but the lab manual is AWFUL. Go to lab because he takes the time to explain everything and makes sure you understand it. You can't skip lab and actually pass bc those labs make no sense without him. He's just as friendly and helpful in lab as he is in lecture. Labs are graded by an assistant so they're tough.

best professor at UNG. Go to class (you can drop lowest test grade with perfect attendance). Go to exam review (then study this). Tests are multiple choice and true/false but he prepares you in review. I wish he taught more variety of classes because I would like to take more of his classes as electives for the A!

Dr. Mitchem's lecture were very boring but occasionally interesting when he talked about current world issues. The tests/map tests were relatively easy if you studied. I would recommend if you're trying to take an easy class.

I took Dr. Mitchem over the summer @8am so lectures/lab were mandatory. They were also long & boring (but, some chapters were interesting). He is very passionate about his career & he is SUPER helpful and understanding. Definitely would recommend him if you're looking for an easy A. He does give hw which are just article reviews. Take his class! It's super easy! He's very nice and willing to do anything to make sure his class is easy for you. Graded by very few things, but all are easy A's if you put a little effort into it. Attendance isn't required, but it helps listening to his lectures because most of his tests are based off what he says, not from his powerpoints.

Hes a great professor and person. He truly cares how his students are doing and wants to help you as much as he can. I took his class during the COVID-19 switch from in-class learning to online learning. He made everything as painless as possible. Hes just a good guy and a great professor. Im taking another class with him this summer.

Dr. Mitchem is one of the most caring and educated professors at UNG. He actually invests his time into his students. His lectures are funny and he always keeps students engaged. Have questions? ASK HIM! He will answer all questions that you may have. Show up, do your five homework assignments, read the chapters, study for tests and you will pass.

He heavily relies on the powerpoint for tests! He's very caring and gives you time to make up stuff. If you talk to him, he'll understand when turning things late. His tests are the most difficult thing about the class, but other than that map quizzes and homework is pretty easy. He's a great professor.

Dr. Mitchem is one of the smartest, kindest professors at UNG, he truly cares about his students and has so much real-world knowledge to share with his students. This class was very structured and had quite a few writing assignments but the due dates were extremely reasonable and I gained a lot of knowledge from this course.

Took this online in the summer, and it was pretty simple. We had a textbook and had to fill out one or two pages every week. Simple workload and good for a simple one-class summer.

Super easy class and I put in very minimal effort. He does narrated labs for you so it's pretty hard to fail them. Two class lockdown tests and the lab final is lockdown. He posted review videos for all lockdown tests which basically covered what was needed. I didn't really ever study or read the textbook. Content is basically common sense.

Dr. Mitchem is a great choice for Weather and Climate especially if you are just trying to fill the credit. His lectures are veryyy wordy which was my only downside so this class is a lot os studying. Had like 4 paragraph assignments the whole semester and 3 tests! Final was online not proctored! Labs were super easy because he helps a lotttt!
