Okay class, get out early a lot, fairly easy
she can be kind of witchy, but overall easy. you just show up and do the work.

Not only does she make you think, you enjoy doing it. demanding, but incredibly fair. I walked away from this course wanting to write. She requires precision, but lets you express yourself, unlike some teachers who use their class room as a pulpit or to voice political views. Openminded and wants students to be that way as well.
She really cares that you walk away knowing how to use MLA format. She is more interested in that you actually learn, than in trying to spout off all this inforamtion that is hard to retain. She also wants you to learn how to ask the right questions, and not just accept what is being told you. If you don't walk out of there with an A that means y

I took this professor for both English 1301 and 1302. She is a really nice teacher and I enjoyed her classes. By the end of the semester, you know how to properly set up and cite your papers. We didn't use the book much until 1302 and even then, it wasn't much. We also got out of class early a lot and I just loved this class. I would recommend her.
Love, Love, LOVE her!!! I have taken A LOT of classes and she was definately one of my most favorite teachers. I worked hard in her class but she made it fun and interesting. She obviously loves what she does and cares about her students. She is not demanding and will work with you.
Awesome teacher
SUPER easy! it is def. an EASY A! She even lets you out about 30 minutes early! Assignments were simple, you work all semester long on your final paper! If you want an easy A take HER!!!!
Wonderful teacher. She teaches with clarity and she is very conscious of time. Let's out at least 30min early. You will work, however you will get your money's worth!

She was my first and still my favorite college teacher. I took her for 1301 and 1302. She teaches you exactly what you need to know to be successfull in college. Very interesting women and I hope that TCC understands what a jewel of a professor they have. Highly recommended.
Took her online for world lit. It's easy if you're fine with reading a lot. Every week we are assigned reading and have to write about it in the discussion boards. It's easy but the reading is usually at least 40-70 pages every week. No tests. Just journal grades, discussion board grades, and a seven page paper will be assigned.
Leaves no time for other classes, work, or family. End of semester load was absurd. When confronted about site tech probs, she argued w/us every time and was reluctant to admit her errors. Was arrogant about how we would work around the problem and asked us not to email her anymore. Confusion was met with annoyance emails were responded to slowly.
May be a decent English Composition instructor, but workload for her Distance Learning World Literature course is ridiculous. Frequently confuses your email with other students'. Assignments and email responses are unclear and seem to be full of nonsense. Much more writing than in an English Composition course.
I believe she could be a great professor but I think she is trying to prove something. The work load is too musch and it makes no sense Every student had the same concern but she was not concerned at all Do not take this professor if you ever want to graduate and keep a good gpa because this class will cause you to fail all your other classes
There is a 1 1/2 to 2 page paper due every monday over literature reading that can be 8 to 40 pages long. There will be an 7 page paper due at the end of the semester. I didn't find the work hard just time consuming for a literature course. I was writing more papers for this course than my english comp 2 course.
It is not a hard course if you keep up with the reading which is a lot. Very time consuming. I did however take that along with two other 3credit courses and a Phed. class and still managed to pass. I am a procrastinator and I did tend to slack a lot but I passed. If you actually try you can get an A easy.
I took her online for summer term, a fast pace term, and I couldn't get a response to emails. She takes questions very personally and will take them out on your grade. The work isn't hard, just lots of reading. Be sure to refer to her as DR and not Prof. Or you will lose points. Its best not to take her at all, she is trynna prove something.
Dr. Thorton is not a class you want to take for an easy A. You might skate by with a C or B. but effort is required. No test at all. Essay each week two page and work cited, 5 page min for rough draft, and 7 page fore final paper. some reading is a lot longer then others some are a few pages, you tube video on lesson to help. I would take her again
Awesome teacher! if you don't mind writing essays every week then its all easy! Read and write. Two main essays which are 5-7pgs long but honestly each essay took me 30mins and the 5/7 pg took 1-2 hrs but this is an easy A+ class definitely will take her again if I get the chance
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS! The class is not terribly hard. One essay per week. However, the teacher is horrible. Any question I ever had was responded to by an internet link or by her telling me I should know it already. I learned nothing from her. I should have gone to the dean about how poorly she conducts herself and I still might.
Dr. Thornton's World Literature class is an easy A if you do the work and turn it in on time. As long as you meet the requirements for paper length and use correct MLA style, she is very gracious in her grading. She does not accept late work or offer extra credit, so it is vital that you keep up and turn your assignments in on time every week.
Jamie Thornton, is not anyone's choice, if you're an (A)student I don't think you should go this route, she is a very mean lady. Expect her to be unprofessional with you, and her grading sucks, she will make sure that your not happy. Shesound like unhappy, unmarried lady, she will make you feel the same way.
Very rude, very vauge. Has a huge superiority complex. Any and all emails are met with rude, curt replies that are unhelpful. Obviously does not read essays when grading. No lecture at all, just readings from the textbook. Her announcments often contain incorrect information that doesn't match previous instructions. 010. Would not reccomend.
She requires a 3-4 page paper due every week and a 7-10 page one for the finalI soon learned she doesn't read a single word. She only checks the format and length. She doesn't allow resubmission or late work at all. Every time I have asked her a question, she responded very condescendingly. Very rude and lots of writing that she doesn't even read.

Do not take your better off on your own
I want to cry... I am straight "A" student I completed every single assignment and followed everything she said yet I still received a "C" She never was available to give feedback or even try to help you improve.
DO NOT TAKE HER! Directions are posted in multiple places and say something different each place and she expects you to understand which one to follow. When asking questions she responds with rude condescending answers and doesn't give you a clear answer says things are stated in her syllabus that aren't and counts off a lot for tiny mistakes.
From my experience with Dr. Thornton she was very nice and overly animated during lectures. I never had her be rude to me but I did experience the no help I was confused about a writing assignment and she confused me even more. If you need help with your papers she would send you to the writing center. So don't waste your breath go straight over.
Very informative. Tough grader. Show up to class when you are scheduled to do so. Do all your work ahead of time because she might add more work next class. The only good part u don't have to take test. A lot papers to write though. When u ask questions beside to look up the answers before asking. Always make sure u ask questions in class.
HARD GRADER. ADDS ON WORK THE NEXT CLASS PERIOD. DOES NOT KEEP CONVERSATION PRIVATE. READ EMAILS INFRONT OF CLASS. English is not my first language. And I passed with an A. Why? one: do not be absent, you late she will deduct 5 points, 10 no show. 2: her lecture are very clear, do exactly what she asks you to do, she provide sample of her paper. 3: do your assignments, if you can not finish on time just make sure to let her know in advance. she is nice. gud luk
I would not take a class from this professor again even though I made a good grade. Professor Thornton was vague with assignments, and when we asked questions she only served to make us more confused. Once when I made a mistake, she made me stand in frost of the class while she showed everyone my mistake saying here's what not to do! It was awful.
She requires the usual papers that make up an English course.
she offers more than just insights into writing: she talks about the impact of literary people on things around them. Eye-opening!

Advice, Do not take her class if you are not willing to show up on time to class, complete work on time with no exception of late work. The course is class activities and she grades one paper in many sections. I passed her class but she is not understanding or caring of any situation and she does not help you so utilize the writing center.
Syllabus was very messy and disorganized, created a few duplicate assignments on accident and told me to resubmit my work and re-word it. There was no where to resubmit it other than where I had originally posted it. I argued the 0 she gave me when I told her there was no where to post it, and she basically blew me off. Easy class otherwise.
A lot of these reviews are very similar and were posted on the same day. This is almost definitely a sign of inflated or fake reviews for the prof. Stay away, yall.
She does not teach you or show you how to submit your assignments. She grades inconsistently. Would not let me resubmit assignments, didnt tell us how to turn in work yet accepts no late work. I do not recommend at all.

she accuses people of plagiarism without confirmation and then just gives a zero, she is the worst professor to take in any class and when I prove to her I didn't plagiarize to the point the dean was involved she felt salty and still failed me she don't care and all her good rates are fake she most likely did it herself
HORRIBLE professor. EXTREMELY disorganized and all of the good reviews she has were posted on the same day, AKA all of her GOOD REVIEWS ARE FAKE! Made duplicate assignments and refused to take responsibility for her mistakes and blamed it on the students/on Canvas as a whole. Most if not ALL of her students failed. Save your grade, don't take this.
With Professor Jamie Thornton, she originally explained the syllabus, as every professor does. What she failed to say was that if you do not do any extra credit then you will just pass the class with a C or a low B, that is if you get full credit on every assignment. She gets frustrated when anyone asks for her to explain anything another way.
I would say Dr. Thornton's class was difficult in a sense that she rambles and may come off a bit confusing when we ask to explain again. She would show her frustration with students who asked questions that related to the topics. Her grading system was all over the place and extra credit was considered mandatory if you wanted a good grade (A/B+).

This professor was given the nickname "professor copy paste" by my classmates and I, because she REFUSES to give helpful feedback or even helpful instruction. My grades are as high as they are because of my own previous writing knowledge and the help of the writing center at South campus. The teacher does NOT seem care when confronted needing help.
Pretty good with technology for her age I would say. I took her course online so I just had to be patient with her when it came to technology. I think I would've liked it better if I took this course in person so you could ask all the questions you may have regarding your papers. I spent most of the course unclear on instructions.

I regret taking this class, she is clearly not a 4-star teacher. Look back at all the 5* ratings from the exact same time on March 8, 2020. Obviously she has paid or botted to get her rating boosted, look at all the low effort reviews in the same style from that day. as a teacher shes not great but not a nightmare. just dont take her class.

LEARNED TO EXPRESS SELF IN WRITING
I went to this class for probably the first three classes. Halfway through the 3rd class I attended, I walked out. Quickly learned her lectures were not informative, and I had a better chance to learn through Google. The only positive is that attendance isn't mandatory, but it makes sense since you don't learn anything.
While the class was tough, using unstuckstudy along with the free textbook helped me navigate the professor's specific teaching style. Stay engaged, and you can get a good grade.
Professor Thornton is all over the place and there is no due dates listed on canvas so prepare to be lost. Very unorganized. This was the last class I needed for my degree, and I dropped it right away because she is a very tough grader couldn't even get points for signing syllabus.
Make sure you like to show up
If you don't show up it affects your grade with her only.
she is all over the place. Weird. she doesn't put assignment dates on any work. you have to guess what is due. She wants you to layer one paper on one author for the whole semester. She says you need a book but you don't. You will literally use it once. You can find it free online. In the end it was easy.
Overall, her class was difficult but not the hardest. Attendance is not required but she still takes it. She doesn't add due dates in the assignments. She is a tough grader, like she does not want to give you the perfect grade.
Professor Thornton was overall a kinda messy Professor didnt like adding due dates, at the beginning of the semester I started at a bad note because she gave me a bad grade. After that she would give me full credit but it would not help even. At the end I managed to get an A, but she graded the draft and final and she dint like giving good results
