His class is useless. He basically just reads directly from the book. I went to class for 2 weeks then asked him if I needed to come because I read the book at home anyway. He said that if you read anyway there is no real reason to come.

This Teacher is a nice person, but he should retire. He is unclear with his english, his examples are less interesting than watching paint dry. As his student your better off reading the text and forming your own study groups. His lectures Stink.
Pretty hard course, class can be a little boring but a good course to have. Recommend a math or econ course prior to taking this one. Teacher makes hard tests but a really nice guy. Friendly and helpful when you ask. Retiring soon, I think

if you want to fail it, just take him, class average NEVER NEVER!!! over 60, first midterm class average was 55% , second midterm was 57% even you work hard he will give you a painful life that you never had, trust me because i am failing !!!
the course is fairly hard but this prof will put you straight to sleep. Notes are straight from the text anyways so as long as you reading at home...just go ahead and doze, not like you'll miss much. If only the lectures were mildly stimulating.....

Somewhat helpful teacher. Accent is hard to hear through. But gives old midterms and finals and their solutions.

He teaches a hard course, so you have to cut him some slack. If you keep on top of the work you can do better than what your actual working knowledge would suggest. The man is way to structured and organized, kinda creeps you out.

Do not take this guy's class unless you want a big fat F. His tests are brutal and his accent doesn't help much. If your not falling asleep from his insanely boring lectures you'll be scraping away at your brain trying figure out wtf he's talking about.
Very Very Very boring class. Drink a lot of coffee before going to class or you will fall asleep. Hardest exams I have ever taken. class average was like 55%. DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASSES!
Like someone else said, he does teach a very hard course so you must cut him some slack. He does kwow his stuff. His exams are brutal!!!! Be careful, sometimes he says one thing and writes something else on the board, prone to errors. Avoid this course!!!

He is a very good teacher and his exams are not that hard but you have to study. During the 3 last weeks of class i did not go and still recieved a B- but i did have to study hard. He is very knowledgable and nice.
I took both of his class (1150 and 1250)for only one reason- he is a very good guy. He is helpful and knowledgable. Test not too hard, but you have to study the book, and his notes. By the way, interesting class, too.
took this course with him and struggled to stay awake. Took this course with another prof, stayed awake in class bec. it was actually worth keeping my eyes open for! Got an A second time around but with this prof. barely squeaked by...enough said.
This teacher knows his stuff but is difficult to understand at times cause of his accent. If you have no previous experience with econ or you don't have math 12, DO NOT take this course or this teacher! To do well it really depends on who you are.
he was good at the start of the semester..then i noticed that he got lazy..(hw and notes)...hard to understand him at times...his questions on exams are vague...don't answer questions very well...overall...not a prof that i would take agian...
He says exactly what's in the textbook. Don't need to come to class after you understand how he models the quiz/test. Just study your book and do the online quizzes/bonus. I missed 3 consecutive classes and still got 87% on the midterm by studying. BORING teacher! Wouldnt take him again!!!!
He knows the material, but he doesn't explain it very well. Tests are directly derived from the textbook; read it, ignore him. No homework, you don't even really need to go to class. Don't even bother asking a question. If he manages to understand what you ask, the answer will be incomprehensible.
mr. shaidi is a nice guy and very knowledgeable about economics. However, conveying that information to us isn't an easy task for him. He goes over notes too fast, but overall the tests are mainly out of the study guide and textbook. He was very helpful when needing answers to questions.
This class is GPA booster. Dont bother going to class, just memorize material in book before test and it's an easy A.

Knows what he is teaching. if u do ur readings then u can ace the course. remember 1% aspiration and 99% perspiration. he will teach u all the stuff u need to know.
Nice teacher with fair tests. Tests are not too difficult if you study the material. Course requires good understanding of material, so study the book and practice the questions and you should do very well.
Lectures parallel book is very thorough with teaching, work load is weekly assignments in which he reviews with class for the solutions. Just do your work and you will get a decent mark. Overall he does teach well, thumbs up!
He is a very difficult prof. His lectures are really difficult to understand, although he knows his material well but he is not capable enough to put it out to the students properly. He basically asks all the question from the book so the best thing would be to read the whole textbook and u will easily pass the course with good grades. The fun part is that he doesn't takes attendence
Has a very thick accent, so is hard to understand. When someone has a question, he doesn't answer it fully. Doesn't make class environment very fun or interesting.
He's very organized. He's got the best handwriting I think I've ever seen a teacher have. Very clear outline makes it easy to skip class and do work on your own time. I'm getting an A and I hardly go to class.
No Homework assigned. If you read the book and go to class to get the answers for the math that is involved in the course, then im pretty sure you will get an A. And no his accent isnt that bad at all
he's a great prof. very accomodating for students and very helpful. he responds to emails really fast. study the textbook for midterms and final. you should be able to get at least 80, if not higher. highly recommended. his accent isn't thick at all.
Super nice guy, very organized, and I'm sure he knew what he was talking about but I didn't. I don't mean to judge, but his accent if VERY hard to understand through, and I've been sorting through accents my entire life. I have never heard the kinds of similes this guy uses, it makes sense for like 1 minute and then you're like "what?"

While the class isn't easy if you do your work and know your stuff you will get a good mark and his accent isn't that bad.

Hey all you first year students...dont even think about taking this guyz class...the worst class!!! u think u know everything..wait till you get the exam and the MCQ (all the best) . This prof thinks that everybody's major is Double MA in econ......
He's an o.k. teacher. not the best, but not the worst. Read the chapters to keep up with what's going on. His tests are very tough, especially the MCQ. Practice his previous tests on his website to get an idea of what to expect. If you read the chapters, and do the hmwk. assignments, you'll do fine.
Did not like this class, he was difficult to understand and randomly went off on v. strange tangents. Textbook reading was "mandatory" but I found it completely useless. The online supplement that comes with it (myeconlab) is decent, however. I did well (A-) but averages in his classes are never high, which has to say something about his teaching.
This guy needs to retire. He may be a nice guy but the only thing he will help you do is drop your GPA score. I made sure to put my work in for this class but the entire class average was very low. He marks his tests out of 250 and so makes it really easy for himself to deduct a lot of marks. Avoid him!
why waste 300$ taking this course.... just take it with someone else, he is hard to understand, and there is no point of going to class since he says that he doesnt care if you come or not, and you cant understand him anyway, i just studied from the book... and even then the class was still hard. avoid at all cost! unless u want a low gpa bank acct
You will learn more about Economics by watching Borat than by going to his class.
Awsome teacher! Just as you would expect, econ is a hard class, but he definately tries to help the student understand. His exams arn't bad at all if u study and he gives you 10 bonus marks just for writing clearly! Highly recommend, just make sure you study the type of questions he gives you and you will be fine!

His lecture notes are identical to the required textbook. He has a very strong Middle Eastern and is hard to understand. His midterms aren't too bad, just make sure you do his old midterms.

He does have an accent but he was still understandable to me. The class is pretty boring, but you can't expect macroecon to be too exciting. He teaches pretty much from the textbook, but he knows what he's talking about and will answer your qs. Tests are a bit rough (mostly long answer), but you get 10 bonus marks for writing neatly
Teaches straight from the textbook. class is VERY boring. i learned from the text book and on every midterm (so far) i've gotten about 80% (4th in the class atm). his tests are straight forward if you know what you're doing.
His favorite word is "Correct?!" Hard to understand in the beginning. Boring if you don't like economy. Uses HW program APLIA ($60 extra on top of course), which its an easy 20% you get for it. Exams get harder towards the end. 2 mids + aplia (online assignments) + final. Overall: take unless you have no desire you have for econ

This guy is a great proff, interact with him and ask him questions and he will be your best friend. Ask him a question and he will more than happy go over it until you understand it. People need to learn how to interact with your proffs, otherwise your just another student to them and they could careless.

Everyone complains about this prof. Honestly he's not even that bad. Read the textbook know the graphs well, and come to class. I got an A+ in his class. and the only studying I did was read what he assigned, and 2-5 hours over 3 days before his exams. Easy

He is not a good teacher but a really nice and kind human. You donot learn anything in his class. Dont take him unless you have to... and if u have then donot attend his class. Rather utilize that time studying in library. For exams, make sure you learn from Study Guide too.
He's very kind, helpful, and organized. At the beginning you might find him unclear but then you will get used to the way he talks and you will benefit from him(so dont skip classes), just read the chapter before going to class and you will do great hes also willing to give you bonus marks if you know the material &answer in class. I recommend him.

Mr.Shahidi has to be the worst professor in the world. His accent makes it very difficult to understand him and don't even bother asking him for help after class because he won't help you. One time after class I didn't understand something in the chapter and instead of helping me he just gave me lame suggestions on how and where I can get help.

Absolutly love this prof. He tells you exactly what the layout will be for the midterms and finals, (they are the same) and the only reason he doesnt give notes is because he tells everyone in the beginning of the course to print the lecture notes online. He goes directly from the textbook and uses the textbook test bank for his exams (MYECONLAB!)
As an economic student, you get to understand that every course, with various profs are lengthy and difficult. The prof is amazing, super sweet, and willing to devote his office hours to his students. Yes, the lectures can be dry, but if you go to a uni, you should understand that you have to study. The prof is true to his word.
There weren't many tests in this class and his lectures were taken straight from myeconlab. Be prepared to read the book. He gives many resources (past tests, study guide) to prepare for his tests. I'm not saying his class was easy, you definitely have to put some work but it was not difficult either. Very approachable during office hours.
He is a very old and boring instructor. Most of them you cannot understand him and vice-versa. Often makes mistakes and then says "even geniuses make mistakes". A tough grader and his midterms and finals are a pain. Get ready for 2 midterms, 3 quizzes and a final.

Really really hard to understandEveryone has a whatface when he is talking in a sleepy tone. He Likes to make test question complicated while the notes are simple defined by him in class. You would find it is too hard to related the class notes with test. Would not take again. Never againreally mean it.
Very hard to understand and he mumbles too much. What really annoyed me was that his practice test were fairly easy but you still needed to review YOUR Own notes that you made in order to complete the practice test and when you get to the actual exam, its Completely different. Overall I would NEVER take a course with him EVER again...
HARD class. Never would take it again. His voice is rather monotonous and boring and you really need coffee with an extra shot to make sure you're still with him. Exams are hard, you really had to work hard hard hard to get your marks. i would never take him again.

Shihidi knows his subject well, but has trouble teaching in a concise manner. Overall the econ 1250 course is definitely not a GPA booster, but should not be too bad for those who actually study.
Very knowledgeable man. However, he really struggles with teaching. If you take this class you will have to teach yourself most of the course material because you won't learn much from him. overall this is a difficult course regardless of the professor. I'd recommend taking someone else. usually less than 10 ppl showed up out of a full class of 35.
boring, hard, could not stay awake in class. they make you take econ for accounting, but it was probably the worst decision ever taking this class. he is a really tough marker! his voice is monotonous. you basically are better off to study on your own at home.
Jamshid is a super nice guy and is very smart. However, his teaching methods were not my style nor many of my classmates style. His lectures are boring and his midterms and quizzes are very confusing and ill worded. Overall I would never take one of his classes again and would not recommend him to those who have never experienced Econ before .
Jamshid is probably the worst prof you could take for micro. He is very difficult to understand, and can't answer questions well. Tests are very tricky too. I'd strongly advise you to take it with ANYONE else.
If you do not do the questions in the textbook you will not pass. He focuses the majority of his lessons on what is presented in the textbook and you need some coffee to keep yourself awake through his lessons. He does not answer questions directly and his accent does make it difficult to follow the lessons sometimes. I would not recommend him.

Very hard to understand . Examinations very tough. No assignments. Grades only out of exam . Leacture are very heavy and not clear .
Usually don't go thru the hassle of doing these reviews but I have to say Mr Shahidi is a horrible teacher. He can't speak English which is insane that this issue still comes up. How to Survive - Go to class, listen to him ramble on, go home, go to MyEconLab/Study your book at home. Congrats you're in an online course with in-class attendance.
Definitely do not recommend. It is very difficult to understand him, and his lectures are very unclear to most students. Marks are based off very few things: 2 quizes, 2 midterms, and a final. There are no assignments to help boost your mark. Tests are very tricky. If you want to pass, take it with anyone else. Otherwise get ready to fail
