great teacher. funny. interesting. nice. always willing to help right away if you have any questions. she let's you use your notes on tests. try to be there for class all the time or you'll miss out. no questions asked; TAKE HER CLASS =P

very easy class. she gives open note exams. and if you attend every class meeting and obtain good grades on the exams youre exempt from the final. i took her for psyc 101 and 116 and i enjoyed both classes! shes hilarious and very energetic. its an EASY A!!!

LOOOVE JAN! WHOOO! This lady has such a great sense of humor and so much energy that when I took her 6-9 pm class she had everyone on the floor laughing by the end of class! Everything was a breeze! It seriously can't get any easier than Jan & the class I took w/ her was fast-track. She doesn't allow open-notes tests anymore but u will not need it.

Great teacher! Jan is fun and has a lot of energy. I highly recommend her to everybody. She is very knowledgeable and explains the material well. If you show up to all the classes and pay attention you should have no problem passing the class. The grade consisted of 4 test scores, two essays, and a final test which is not cumulative.

Jan is one of THE BEST teachers at SWC not only does she make the class fun and interesting but she is a huge ball of energy i didnt NOT miss one class neither did i want to, her class is just so much fun you wont want to miss one. Her test are easy she gives you all you need to know. Would defenetly recommend her!!!!!

Jan is probably one of THE BEST professors at SWC. Take her, you won't regret it. She used to be a bar tender and an EMT. She surfs and looks like she is Jeff Spicoli's mom (from Fast Times).

Funny, entertaining, easy if you pay attention. She covers everything she tests you on so you don't really need the book. She makes it all really interesting and tells a lot of random stories about her mom... You can tell she really enjoys her job. She gives lots of extra credit and posts everything on Blackboard.

She is the best teacher ever. Take her If not you really don't know what you are missing. I took her for Psych 101. Got an A.

Best professor ever! You have to really try hard NOT to pass this class. It's an easy A. She gives you a study guide with all the terms she will be testing you on. Her tests are multiple choice with obvious wrong answers, so you can basically pass the tests through object of elimination. :) All in all, a fun class!

Awesome teacher, She clearly tells you whats going to be on tests. She gives you easy ways to remember things about the brain, like a SONG and she plays guitar in class as well as shows lots of videos, shes very funny and always makes class interesting, I would love to be in her class again! shes one of the best teachers ever...

She is super cool. Sometimes she brings her dogs to school. You should really use the book because she does give out take home tests. All the notes are posted on blackboard. Make sure you show up for class because she does show movies with questions that are on the test and final.

She puts her all into her lectures this is a college class so be ready to read the chapter make sure to print notes bfore attending clas or else you will be lost and you will learn alot.. The happiest person i ever met,she plays guitar signs and surfs.she will tell couple stories pertaining to the lecture SHE IS ONE OF THE BEST

I loved this class! Professor Koontz is a great teacher and likes to help students to understand the subject. Tests are easy since the questions are repetitive and you only have to do one research paper. You do need the textbook though! She also bases her tests on her notes and book. I would gladly take this class again.

I absolutely LOVE her! Not only does she know her stuff and makes it possible to get an A, but she's probably the craziest most funniest person you will ever meet! She also has her own perspective on life that is truly admirable and DEFINITELY knows the ins and outs of the material that she's teaching.

You will definitely need the textbook, her exams are hard and no extra credit is offered. You will need to write an essay to pass the class but it is quite simple. Very funny, smart, and nice person.

Awesome professor! She is such a fun person and makes the class really exciting. The exams were really difficult but she will help you at as much as she can! You have a big essay that was easy and that actually helps your grade a lot if you do it. Overall one of my favorite professors at SWC! Highly recommend her!

Amazing professor! She made the very interesting, and there's never a dull moment. She sometimes goes off topic and talks about what's been going on in her life and other last experiences, but they're really entertaining. Lots of reading required in order to get a high grade, but it's worth it! She helped me decide on psychology as my major.

Probably one of the funniest teachers I have ever had. If you want a teacher that loves her job and is great with one on one instruction this is your lady. Since this was intro Psych, the grading was a little more relaxed but nevertheless still an interesting course. Take her if you want an interesting teacher to lighten up your workload and day.

I loved her class. She made a three hour night class fly by. She was creative and funny when she taught us and her lectures weren't bad at all. She can tell when yhou start to get bored and she'll throw a funny video in to keep you going. You can never predict what she will say next.

Hands down most amazing human I've ever met. Great professor. Unorganized but makes up for it w/ great interesting entertaining lectures. Never a dull moment and knows her stuff!!! Loves what she does which will make you love and enjoy taking the class yourself. NEVER had homework. A lot of tests and one final paper thats worth half your grade.

Koontz was BY FAR my favorite teacher this semester! She was very funny and random! Her tests are easy because you could use your notes(Just be aware that there are questions that require you to read the book)! For one test, she lets you sing a "BRAIN SONG" in front of the class instead of taking the test ... which is an easy 200 points!

She's funny, on the first day of school she took out her guitar and said "welcome to guitar 101" which made me panic for a second lol. I really enjoyed her lectures and her personal stories. The tests are somewhat challenging. You need the textbook to study and choose a topic to write an essay in APA format. She has interesting videos to show.

She's so funny. Answers all your emails, reminds you of tests, yes it's a lot of reading but if you purchase the connect for $80 it comes with an e-book. Open the e book and find the answers lol the writing assignments are easy too. She's an easy grader people just whine because they're lazy

*Online class* Online modules are time consuming so be ready to spend 2-4 hours for each module. Essay's consist of listening to podcast's and writing something about the podcast- best thing ever. Modern approach to teaching class; I could listen to them while driving. I work full time and go to school full time- apply yourself and you will pass!

Professor Jan is amazing. The first day I thought she was genuinely off her rocker but she ended up revealing that her teaching style is meant for us to open up and have a good time in her class. Her lectures were always clear and interesting, she's always full of energy, and she actually does care about us as students. I highly recommend her.

Jan is a very laid back professor! She lectures most of the time... (Not boring) She's a bit weird but she's very enthusiastic. As long as you do your work and attend the class, You'll pass. She was an easy A.

There's a lot of homework and reading but it's not impossible to get it done because it's so easy. The only thing is that it's time consuming. She assigns 13 homework assignments and 4 writing assignments. She's a tough grader but only because she wants us to know that she actually reads our writing and cares. She knows when you care... TRUST ME.

TAKE THIS CLASS! Honestly this class was super easy and I'm someone who never does homework. It's a lot of lecture and she rarely asks for participation. She's hilarious, jumps around on a pogo stick, sings songs, and makes class incredibly enjoyable. There is never really any homework except for your final paper at the end of class which is simple

FREE TEXTBOOK!!! Weirdest teacher ever, but I think she does that on purpose lol. She's cool and funny, and it's an easy class. Just show up and take lecture notes, you can use them on the in-class quizzes. One essay at the end of the semester (and you get to choose what you write about). Other than that, there's really not much homework at all.

Professor Koontz is really cool. She is really passionate about Psychology, and she loves questions. She is patient and if you have questions she is always going to answer them.

She was an amazing teacher, I took her class while i was still in high school. she was so accommodating and amazing. Her class taught me a lot and her eccentric helped me to keep focused on the class. If I had to take this class again I would take it with her. and everyone who goes to southwestern and is taking psych I tell them to take her class.

I just started this online class with Professor Koontz, and let me tell you, I am so surprise. I admit, I was hesitant on emailing her or asking any questions due to previous comments on here. BUT, I emailed her for our first assignment since i had questions and she went above and beyond to help me. She is the sweetest and so caring.

Dr. Jan has a great sense of humor and intelligent, but this course is challenging. In fact, this is my second time taking this course because I got a D the first time. She will not accept any late assignments and she does not offer any extra credit. Good Luck!

I took Dr. Jan my first semester of college and I was not disappointed. She was one of the best teachers I've had. Hilarious but gets serious when lecturing. She is very passionate about this subject and will definitely make you feel the same. Get on her good side, show up to class and make sure you participate! She is also good at communicating!
