She is a great teacher. The class is very easy. You have one group presentation and one individual presentation and two tests. The tests are mostly common sense. This class is an easy A.
The class is very easy but unfortunately she gives the best grades to her class pets. I recommend to smile always - to earn points - and as long as you read the book, you are ok.
Is not willing to give you an A even if you have an 89. Tests are somewhat hard. The group presentation sucks because one person can bring your grade down A LOT!
All I can say is: try to be her favorite student and you won't even have to try hard in the class.
Pretty good class
Easy class if you just read the chapters and study the main points and term words. Group assignment is easy if everyone is involved. individual presentation is easy. Just make yourself interesting and you will get a good grade on both.
She is great...really laid back and easy so I would totally take her again!! Smile and chat a little with her and she will totally give you an A....it's all about a lot of fun!
She is a very kind and friendly person. All you have to do is pay attention in class, try your best on all presentations and look over the notes and you will be fine.
An Easy A , but the test are a little tricky. Just make sure you study and you will do well.
Hard, tests are hard and presentations are hard. Overall, I would probably not take her again.
Tests are hard, but if you pay attention you should do alright. Take notes and read the chapters.. and definitely make sure you understand everything on the study guide!! Tests are pretty tricky!
She is such a sweetheart! She loves her job and her students. She is clear and helpful the only thing is the tests are kind of hard.
She is very clear during her lectures, and gives many examples that are usually found on the tests. If you study the study guides, you can easily make A's on the tests. Group project grading was lenient, but individual presentations were graded a little tougher. Overall, an interesting class and easy A. Highly reccommend!
She is a good teacher and knows her stuff but she is not helpful. Everyone said she was so great but my class did not feel that way. Her test were unclear and tricky but if you question them she flips out.
Make sure you do what she asks on presentations if youdo that you'll get an A for sure. don't really have to go to the class to understand material she gives a study guide get info from your book and you will be fine. her tests are easy the only thing is if you miss 3 questions you get a B. I got a B in the class but I did hardly nothing. Make sure
loved the class!!! It was SOO easy!!! the tests are right out of the study guides and if you do exactly what she asks you to do in her presentations, you'll get an A for sure and what she asks isnt much either!!! I recommend her, especially for those who dont like going to go their classes!!! she's the easiest teacher on the campus for sure!!!!
Really easy. Her tests come straight from the powerpoints that are posted on webct. The group presentation was graded easy. She doesn't get to know you though, she still doesn't know anyone in my class's name.

I would not reccommend this professor if my life depended on it. That is how AWEFUL she is. Don't take her. Her tests are NOT clear, and you learn more about her invisible husband than you do about communication. My favorite part about her is that she actually believes that depression is fake... she REALLY thinks that.
She does know the material but doesn’t teach well. She reads straight off the power points so it is useless to come to class. Her tests can be tricky but if you study the study guides you can do well. She doesn’t know anyone names and has pets who get highest grades Very few As but many Bs in our class. Probably wouldn’t take her again.
I hated this class, it was a waste of my time, everyday I sat there, stared at her while she read the powerpoint to the class, and though "hmm, couldn't i have read this powerpoint at home? yes, because she posted it on webct. so why am i here??" Both presentations she takes of points for silly things that she didn't put as requirements.
UGGGGH, this class was so boring. all she does is read from the powerpoints and her activities are watching old black and white movies, which have NOTHING to do with the tests. read the powerpoints to study for the tests, you can get a C or a B on the tests that way. bad fashion sense and she's kinda a weirdy.
This class is pretty boring. All we did was sit and listen to her read the notes from a power point. The notes are simple and common sense stuff, so its easy enough to learn.
Very nice teacher. Tests came straight from the study guide and powerpoints. You dont have to work too hard to get an A. If you are nice to her she returns the favor. She really tries to make the class a fun but educational experience. Definately would take her again!
The class was, overall, easy. Read the stupid powerpoints and you'll be fine. The group project is moreless an individual project and is incredibly easy. Beware of tangents during lectures and movies get kinda boring after a while. Oh- one bad thing, she didn't respond to a single e-mail I sent her all semester long.
Mrs. Phillips is a teacher with a GREAT attitude towards her students. However she is a bit deceiving. Her tests are RATHER TRICKY so if you expect an A it wont come as easy as you think. She will not curve your tests or bump your grade so dont screw up. Other than that she has such a good attitude. I loved her class.
Attendance is mandatory, she passes around role. The Tests are not too bad if you study, class is all power-point and movies. There is 1 writing/speech type project that you have to do. You don't use the book too much.
Her class was boring, but she is a sweet lady. You must show up for class. Her tests a extremely easy and exactly like the powerpoints she posts on Web CT. I would recommend taking her if you want an easy A.
I ended up with a B in the class so it wasn't terrible. Buy the workbook bc you use it almost every day but don't bother with the Trenholm textbook. Test are farely easy, just study off the powerpoints she posts. Be prepared to hear the same story 2 or 3 times during the semester and A LOT about her husband. Go to class!
very helpful would take her again for any class.
I had her as an adviser. Always get a second opinion. I will be spending an extra semester at Kennesaw from lack of advising. Always, always, always get a second opinion.
I like this teacher but she can be a bit confusing...and sometimes you feel like second guessing yourself because you think her class really can't be THAT easy...BUT IT IS! :)
Mrs. Phillips is a very nice professor. She knows what she is talking about and will explain something until you understand. Class can be boring sometimes, but its worth it. Tests are very easy, you should still study. I would recommend taking her!
This class was so boring. She knows what she was talking about but in order to do good on her tests you need to look at the power points. She is a very sweet lady.
This class is easy. I got an A and you can get an A too if you study. She gives you a study guide with like 100 key terms for each of the three tests. Seems like a lot but it is word for word on the test which makes it easy! You have to do a group presentation which is lame but its cool. She does not grade hard and she knows a lot of the subject.
Honestly, you couldn't ask for much more. SHE ROCKS!!! Such a sweet lady, and such interesting content that you can't help but get a good grade, especially when she starts talking about A, H, and M-frame relationships. All test material is on WebCT. I made an EASY A in her class because it was so much fun. She's truly the best professor at KSU.
This teacher is interesting. She wrote the workbook you'll be using so don't try to avoid using it. She can bit of a bore at times but overall it was an easy class. Only allowed 3 absences so if you don't enjoy coming to class...AVOID!! The study guides are straight forward and helpful on the test... can be a possible EASY A.
She is pretty fun. You watch a lot of movies in there and have pretty easy assignments. You have one group project but it's not that bad. Three test including the final and that's not cummulative. If you do the study guides and memorize it you should make an A. Only draw back...attendance is mandatory
RUN VERY FAST AS FAST AS YOU CAN!!! I would have had all B's this semester but she is so unclear you don't know what is what. She does give you study guides but her final which screwed up my grade was totally not on her study guide when all the others were so you thought the study guide was the way to go. Her style of teaching is so disjointed!!!
My rating for her D-. She lacks teaching skills. She is the assistant dept. chair but she's better as an administrator NOT a professor! Would recommend her to Einstein not a student trying to keep there GPA. She ruined mine!!! Would not recommend her to anyone! I thought she was easy but realized she's a total doofus run very fast the other dir
Extremely nice professor. Wants to help students actually understand material. Genuinely cares! I did not buy the book and found everything I needed on the power points that she posts on web-ct.Really irritating that so many students showed her such disrespect at times. If you take her, respect her. She is doing you a favor by being so nice.
DO NOT TAKE! she is nice but she cant teach. all you do is watch movies and waist alot of time. she doesnt grade consistently on the project either. She doesnt teach anything for the final, just gives you a list and says learn it. she cost me straight A's with finals. the movies you watch (thats all you do other than presentations) are boring too.
Im not sure why the previous posts are so negative. I studied the day before the test and made A's on all of them. if you memorize the study guide you will get an A on the test. 3 tests, a final, and one group project. Final is not cummulative. DO NOT BUY BOOK! only drawback was tedious workbook.
I do NOT recommend taking her for this class. She does not teach - she shows movies & the class does presentations. Unfortunately, her tests were from power points that were rarely discussed. There's got to be someone better to take!
This class is not that hard, but it's only 3 tests, a project, a final, and a workbook. You have to look up the power points on your own. That is what all of the test questions are from. She spends class time playing movies and doing "group work" that she never takes up. She doesn't really focus on the material on the test.
Run as fast as you can she's not a good teacher and I would highly recommend not taking her! She derailed my GPA! I had a great GPA till I took her because she does not explain anything at all very well! I did all the work I could and since she doesn't explain things in a clear manner it caused major problems!!!
OMG this is by far the BEST teacher that you can ever have for this class. She is sweet, loves to help you out, and shows movies- who doesn't like movies?! But it helps you to learn the info. Took as a summ course. Thought it would be hard. I am terrible at public speaking, but she made it a piece of cake. I would take her again if I could lol :)
Well I really hated this class. Although she does let you make up tests if you have a good excuse. But the movies were okay to watch, the subject matter is just dry. I am sure I could have gotten an A if I actually studied but I just hated this course so very much.
this class is really isnt that bad it just gets boring and monotonous
If you do not make an A in this class your an idiot b/c it is sooo easy...i never went to class or took notes..if you read the chapters in the book b4 tests you will do great. tests are VERY EASY. and she is sweet and tries hard to make class interesting by playing movie clips and being creative TAKE HER!!
Can be a stickler for project guidelines, but overall a sweetheart. She tries to make an 8:00 am class cheery and upbeat. Shows lots of clips from movies and TV shows. Study guides for tests are great. Tests are easy if you do these. She passes a sign in sheet around to check attendence. Lectures with Powerpoint and posts them online.
Tests are very hard, but use the study guides!!
Great teacher! enough said
Mrs. Philips is one of the best teachers I've had. Despite popular belief, she is very gracious and does a great job of teaching the material as she is supposed to. She is professionally strict with attendance and tests etc., but she is not cruel. She listens attentively to what we have to say and always answers our questions
She is a great teacher and really loves communication! The tests are pretty hard but all the information on the tests come straight from the powerpoints. She really listened to the class and wanted us to do great in class.
She has horrible communication skills. Says she will reply to questions or concerns, but she never does. She isn't aware of which students have dropped her class and doesn't know how to e-mail students. Groups are randomly put together, so you'll wind up with people that have different availability than you. Avoid this professor if possible!
This subject is so easy you don't need a good professor anyways. But she makes it even easier. She applies terms to movies and shows, and then has you answer questions in her workbook for a grade, which helps you understand and remember the information. Passionate about teaching and is willing to meet with any student to help outside of class.
Great teacher, very passionate about the subject. Responds timely to any student who emails, and is willing to help any student. The powerpoints she uses are very dry, but the movies she uses to tie material together really helps reinforce the materials taught in class. DEFINITE TAKE!
This class is lecture and movies. Everything in the chapter that you need to know is on her powerpoints. She provides a study guide for each test and all of the answers are in the powerpoints. Attendance is mandatory or you won't get your workbook grade. Pretty straightforward group presentation. Easy A/B if you just study!
She is a GREAT teacher. All of her material is on Power Points, no use for the book. She is so nice and really helpful. Almost made me want to switch my major to Communications. You won't be disappointed.
Find a better Professor. Phillips is a mess. From her study guides, to her lectures, to her attendance policy, to her oddly personal jokes; nothing seems to be in order. She hardly ever explains any concepts with clarity and is incapable of teaching without her power point to read from. Just save yourself the frustration, find a better professor.
LOVE HER! Best professor I've had at KSU! Attendance is mandatory, but all you do is watch movie clips and go over powerpoints that she always post online. She gives study guides, which are the test exactly. Very nice and willing to work with you. Make sure you buy the workbook (not used) or you're screwed. Seriously, TAKE HER! Easiest A ever.
AWESOME professor, very helpful. She gives studyguides that are exactly what is on the test. Class is interesting and she presents the material in a way that you do not even have to study much because it is so easy to remember.
This class is an easy A. You do busy work that she goes over in class before you even turn in so you can just write down the answers. 3 Test and its just like the study guide. And 1 group project which is just a 5min talk to the class about a country your group picks. Easy A even at a very min amount of effort. Take her for a G.P.A BOOST
She knows everything about communication. Tests come from powerpoints so you dont need the book. You do have to buy the workbook though. She is extremely nice and approachable. There is a presentation project in groups, but she is very generous with its grade. Definitely take her!
This class is one of the easiest classes I've taken. She gives you a study guide and notes online, so the book is pointless. You will have to get a new workbook though. Classes are boring and pointless, but go so that you can fill out your workbook for a grade. She's a soft speaker and you can barely hear her unless you sit in the first 2 rows.
Tests are not easy ... only 5 grades: 2 tests, final, workbook grade and presentation. Very interesting lady, but does not make material interesting.
EASY! text not needed-VERY detailed ppts. watch some movies like cars :) tests are EASY because of very DETAILED studyguides. very nice lady! very helpful! major project presentation-just work ahead and be prepared (she grades strictly on this but it is EASY). information is very interesting! made an A :)
I took this class in the Summer. It is SUPER easy! Attendance is not mandatory, but there are alot of activites completed in class so I would recommend it.Textbook not required, but workbook is. Only 2 tests, a final, group presentation, and workbook grades. She also grades the speeches where is it easy to get a good grade. TAKE HER! :)
The class was easy with just three tests (2 online) all multiple choice, a workbook grade and a speech grade. We watched a movie almost everyday then just completed a few pages from the workbook on it. I would take her again due to her helpfulness and easiness, but if the class wasn't mandatory I wouldn't have bothered. Communication class, really?
Easiest class I've ever taken. Three tests online. She gives a study guide that is basically the test. One 5-7 minute in class presentation. She grades fairly easy but you still need to practice. Don't buy the book. We never used it.
Really easy class just go. Book isn't necessary as she has powerpoints and study guides that cover everything. Make sure you do workbook, she goes over it before class most of the time. Really nice, easy tests, and one presentation which was easy, made an A.
I enjoyed this class. I learned so much about how we communicate with others and how I interpret things. Professor Phillips is a great professor. She explains the terms and gives annotated study guides. TAKE HER CLASS!
Only three tests including the final. final is only over certain chapters. tests are online. one speech project and some workbook assignments. she is very sweet and nice.
She is very friendly, I took her class at 8am and she always had a bright smile. She makes it so that if you attend the class you don't have to study the book too much to get at least a B on the test.
I took the 8 A.M class last semester. Prof Phillips is one great teacher. She made it easy to make a good grade because she taught you what you needed to know. I studied the notes from her power point and I really learned a lot. I had an A in her class. I wish I had her this semester but she does not teach the class that I am taking.
Professor Phillips is soooo sweet! You only have to buy her workbook for the course and it's super easy bc she gives you all the answers before you turn it in! You only have one big group project, her worksheets and 3 tests to take. She's super easy and cares about her students
Very nice lady and very easy class. Lectures aren't that bad, attendance isn't mandatory but to get points you have to be there for in class assignments. She literally gives you the test questions and power points so you don't have to take notes. One group public speaking project, easy topic. She's an easy A, take her!
This class is very easy! All you need if her workbook. There is one big group presentation but is very easy. Her tests are on the computer and are simple. She gives you an annotated study guide for every test! You really only need to show up if there are workbook pages to do that day!
Easy class - all because she teaches well and is clear about what is expected. Must remember to turn in your outline for your presentation. She makes this very clear and does expect it on the DAY of your presentation. Very nice and sweet:) You will NOT be bored, you will learn. Final exam is hardest but, doable. Got an A. Take her!
Yes, you have to attend class and it isn't the most interesting thing, the workbook is your only textbook and it's 20% of your grade and they are discussed IN CLASS. You can get an A with minimal effort on tests/project. Also, she is so helpful and understanding. I had a rough semester outside of school and she really worked with me to keep up!
Very good teacher. She cares about her students. Pretty easy class. Take her if at all possible.
Easiest college class I've taken. She goes over all of the questions to the workbook pages before you turn them in and she has a study guide for every test.
Very easy class. She cares about her students. One presentation (Which is VERY easy) and a few tests (ALL ONLINE) but you take those online tests in the classroom. Overall its an easy A
Pretty easy class but the lectures are super boring. She takes attendance every class but you can honestly go to class and just play on your computer. All tests are online during class time so they're pretty easy and the presentation is a piece of cake. Easy A or extremely high B
Study guides cover exactly what is on the tests (word for word). *WARNING THOUGH* if you miss some of the workbook assignments your screwed. I thought I would make an A in the class but I made a B because I missed one assignment. She takes role but attendance is not mandatory! Don't be fooled! Her teaching is worthless, just go by the study guides.
Attendance is not mandatory but highly recommended due to workbook assignments. Her tests are word for word off the study guides so you don't have to pay much attention to her lectures. There is 1 group presentation in the class but you are graded individually.
Easy class! Got an A with no problem! Go to class so you don't miss an assignment. Gives study guides that mimic the test & power points that mimic her lectures, so no need for note taking. She sends emails after class going over the class & assignment due dates. Group presentation graded individually so no one can ruin your grade except for you.
Very easy class! Tests come straight from the study guides, and her presentation isn't hard. Only thing is DO ALL THE ASSIGNMENTS. I missed one out of the 11 and it dropped my average grade down 6 points, she never clarified that these were weighed like this so make sure you always turn in the workbook pages on time.
I had a mid B all semester going into the final. The final was harder than expected, and it dropped my grade to a 79.8. She gave me the C on my transcript. Enough said.
Do all the homeworks and class assignments, which going to class 85% of the time. She doesn't allow technology in class but you can sneak being on your phone. Her PPTs are online. Her reviews for the tests are identical to the tests and are taken on D2L with other proctors in the room. One group project worth a lot is EASY. Do the hw and reviews!!
Class was easy in beginning. Got A's on first 3 tests then final was very hard and ended up getting a C on it. But other than that the class was fine. Just have to show up pretty much everyday to turn in workbook pages. If you don't, you will not do well. And one group project that pretty much everyone gets an a on.
Easy group project. The final was not cummulative. You need the workbook and workbook grades are an easy A. Prof. Phillips is a really nice person too! Didn't have to show up on the days other people were presenting and study guides are on d2l.
She takes roll EVERYDAY. Long lectures and if you miss a class when workbook pages are collected you will do poorly in the class since they count a great deal. It will drop you a letter grade. So if you want to skip a class here and there, take someone elsem
Just make sure you work with your group for the project and once you do your project you don't really need to go on the days other groups are doing the projects. Make sure you study for the tests with the study guides, they will help.
Easiest class ever. TAke her. You wontt be sorry. Just show up and you get an A
You have a group project but it is easy. You only have 3 tests and they are just like her notess. Take her.
Amazing prof! Super helpful. Class is easy if you just show up and do what's required. No textbook. Weekly assignments from a workbook that you turn in in class (that's your "attendance"). 1 group project and final is not cumulative. Know her study guides backwards and you'll be fine on the tests. She makes class so much fun! Take her!!!
Prof. Phillips is very passionate about communication and extremely knowledgable. She has 3 test including the final which isn't cumulative, a group project, and a workbook grade. Her class is easy and straightforward, attendance is taken but not mandatory. Very easy A! I would take again, she's the sweetest lady ever.
Class overall easy. I made the mistake of not taking the workbook seriously--take it seriously, it is 20% of your grade, the same as all the tests and the group project. Class seemed to consist mostly of conspiracy theories, weird! But very easy, just do the worksheets and use the study guides for the tests.
Super easy course. Not only that, but very interesting and entertaining. She has study guides before the tests that basically cover all the material. Put in a minimal amount of work and you'll get an A. She's also a very kind and caring professor. Doesn't budge on grading, but she teaches well and it's informative. Highly recommend.
She's a great teacher, you need to pay attention and take notes in class unless you want to be reading the book. She pretty much reads off the powerpoint which can make lectures a bore sometimes. But she's a good teacher overall, all of her assignments are pretty easy and she gives a ton of credit for attendance
Jan is a very nice lady that sails on the weekends. I played 8 ball pool on gamepigeon most lectures bc it's a PowerPoint. She then gives a study guide for test that has all the stuff needed for the 5 test. Study that the night before and get an A.
She's a very nice lady but honestly not very good as a professor. Her tests are simple, study the study guide and you'll make an A. The issue is the attendance policy. Had a MWF class and you could only miss 4 classes lest your grade drops half a letter. Really don't need to pay attention in class. Easy A. Just don't miss any lectures.
Prof Phillips is great. Doesn't lecture all the time. Shows videos a lot. Has several in class assignments. The textbook is online through REVEL and there are short quizzes in the chapters that are graded. Knowing the content in the text is most of it and her lectures go into a little more detail on certain topics.
She's a decent professor. She reads directly off the PowerPoint which is really annoying. You're attendance is mandatory, and you can only miss a certain number of classes before it hurts your grade. She's a nice lady and you can reach her outside of class. There's no extra credit so don't ask.
Professor Phillips was a very nice teacher. Classes were not too bad but they were mostly lectures. Tests were a little harder than expected compared to the work we did for homework and in class. Overall a smooth sailing class but attendance is mandatory.
The class is pretty straightforward. The class is mainly lectures. Your attendance counts toward your grade, so you can't miss more than a few classes. There's no extra credit, so don't ask. She's okay as a professor, but I feel like she could do a little better.
She wasn't my favorite teacher. She read too much off of her powerpoint slides, which made her class extremely boring. The class was super easy though. Revel assignments due about every week (they were kind of long but not hard) and a few tests as well as assignments due on Fridays. Overall, it was an easy A but the class could have been more fun.
She is one of the worst professors I've ever had. I took her for an honors class and ended up dropping out of the honors college because I never wanted to be stuck in a class with a professor as bad as her. She was condescending and it was her way or the high way. For a communications teacher, she is really bad at listening to students.
One of the nicest ladies I have ever met. The class was not easy though. I put it in my schedule as a filler but ended up being harder than I thought. However, you can pass this class with ease. She gives out a study guide for each test and the test is drawn directly from it. Study the study guide and show up to class for daily graded activities.
This class is honestly an easy A. Rather than lecturing the entire time, she has the class do easy but useful activities. DO THE ONLINE ASSIGNMENTS! They are really easy and is a grade booster. The exams are easy as long as you study the study guide. Attendance isn't mandatory but she does take attendance.
Professor Phillips understands that we have more than one class. She's very willing to work with student conflict. Pretty easy A and a great lady.
Her class is super easy as long as you pay attention and show up. Homework is online Revel, I used the textbook for it but you don't have to. 3-4 test, she gives study guides and the test is basically the study guide.
She's a good professor. You can tell she wants you to pass. Her study guide is your key to passing this class. You have to try to fail her class. She's a nice woman, tries her best to connect and interact her class. Easy A if you try.
I took this class over the summer. She would give us assessments for a grade and wouldnt teach the material till after because she said she wanted to see what we thought. This class could have been so simple, instead its filked with useless busy work.
If you are looking to get a really easy grade and have a really terrible teacher, you came to right place. It is a communications class, yet Jan Phillips has no concept of communication. It is her way or the highway. Personally, I hated this class, but if your good at being complacent, it is the perfect class for you.
Bans use of cell phones & laptops in class. Does not make an effort to engage with class. If you like teaching yourself communication through Pearson's online portal, then this is the class for you.
I took Prof. Phillips for honors class. She is really sweet lady and caring with the students, but her class seems really weird. I personally don't really much like her class. The test is okay as long as you know her study guide and materials from revel. Her final test is the most difficult compare to the other tests.
Very average and Easy Professor. Assignments are usually given 100s regardless of effort. She's a nice lady and occasionally tries to engage the class make the subject more interesting. Doesn't like phones or laptops. You'll be doing most of the work outside of class reading the online revel textbook and taking the quizzes.
Insane. Take this class online. Content covered in class is the same content covered in the mandatory homework.
Jan's class was okay. If you need a last minute professor, she isn't too bad. However, her lectures are very long and drawn out. If you like textbook-based powerpoints and weekly online homework, then go with Mrs. Phillips. I only got a B because I didn't really study at all. There's several tests and a couple of in-class assignments.
very pointless to go to class, but you have to. the test were confusing and this class shouldve been an easy A. I received a B
Boring. Easy, but boring. She also occasionally goes off track, and sometimes, she makes a 50 minute lecture last about 20.
She basically gives you a group at the beginning of the year and based off all the classroom assignments with that same group. There is no presenting if you're a group leader. If you, for some reason, don't do homework, just know that she gives a lot of it but they are all fairly easy. Just a heads up, the class is Boring so keep that in mind. Take
She sets you up in a group in the beginning of the semester and you are with them for the rest of the semester which works well because then you have people you actually get to know in class. She lectures sometimes but she mostly assigns easy in class assignments for your group to do, and she is very nice. Tests are not very hard
She's a sweet lady. Study guides are very detailed. The group assignments vary in difficulty, but you can definitely make a 100 on all of them. The tests are doable if you study, maybe even if you don't study. Sometimes attending class seems pointless because the content is online, but attendance is mandatory.
Jan is a great professor. COM1101 is a very boring class, however, Jan makes it tolerable. She is caring, humorous, and she tries her best to make the class as enjoyable as possible. However, she is not the best with technology so be patient in class.
She is very boring, but the class is pretty easy you have a revel quiz almost every week which isn't hard, she posts 15 page in depth study guides for the test so you're very prepared for tests if you study it. She does count attendance even though you don't really need to go to class to do well. Easy content but she just doesn't make it exciting.
before every test she posted study guides which were generally like 18 pages long, like im sorry but i dont have time to study 18 pages of a worthless class. tests were just like the study guide. attendance is mandatory. you get an assigned group and have easy projects all semester. have revel quizzes every week (all answers are on quizlet)
Her class was very easy but I wouldn't take her again only because it was boring and I didn't feel the need to go. The class is centered around group projects so if you don't like group projects this isn't the class for you. Her study guides are exactly like the test so read the study guide and you'll pass the class.
Her lectures can be boring and seem pointless but that's mostly because of the content she has to cover. If you put in just a little bit of effort you'll make an A or B- Just fill out the vocab on the study guides and you'll do good on tests. Group projects are super easy and you are with the same group then entire semester so you make some friends
Dr. Phillips is a very caring professor and wants her students to succeed. This class is mainly made up of group projects every other class, so attendance really counts. Homework is an easy grade, but be sure to use the review she makes for every test, the questions come from there. She is willing to talk with you and help you any way she can.
When I took this class I thought it would be just like the ratings said, "She's amazing." Yes, Professor Phillips is a very nice lady but I would not choose her as a professor. It was an easy A, but be prepared for boredom. She is aging and very forgetful. She docked my attendance grade because she lost the attendance sheet for that day.
As long as you show up and do the group work, you'll be fine. If you study the terms and study guides for exams, you'll do fine on them. The homework for Revel and other assignments is easy. Her class is easy if you apply yourself a little.
Prof Phillips is amazing! Her lectures can be drawn out and seem unnecessary considering every exam is based off a study guide she gives you, but she is the sweetest. If you don't like group work I wouldn't recommend since the whole class is based on group communication and assignments, but work is easy and homework is manageable
She was really kind! She had clear outline of things to do so it wasnt hard. We had tests weekly so get ready to use the book and actually read. Overall, the class is very interesting and fun if you like things with people, psychology, communication, and learning of people!
Dr. Phillips gives out study guides with and without blanks. If you can fill in every blank without a book you will probably make a 100 on every test you take. She is a teacher that cares and will help you if you ask. She is also very cool and involves kids in the class even if its a 100 person class.
In this class there is an assignment for each module but you only have to complete five of them and you get to choose which ones you want to do. If youre not satisfied with your grade you can do more and shell count the highest five. She gives guided notes and lets you use them on the test. There are also only two tests but theyre really easy.
Started taking attendance halfway through the semester because so many people stopped coming. Only a midterm and final that was open notes because "7 chapters is a lot to remember". Only decided 1 hour before class that class would be cancelled (sickness). Grading system is a little weird. READ the textbook and maybe pay attention to other claswork
Professor Phillips is very kind and understanding, so if you have to leave class early or miss a day shell be lenient. However, this class only has 4 grades (participation, midterm, final exam, and textbook quizzes) All of which are pretty annoying but easy l.
Prof Phillips is genuinely so kind hearted. Her lectures are kind of boring, but honestly you don't really need to go to class, unless you have an in class assignment. You do a good bit of group assignments but every single assignment in that class is a breeze. The only hard part is the midterm and final. They are open note but you only have 70 min
Lectures are really boring but besides that its a pretty easy A if you just do the assignments. You only really need to go to class when there are assignments.
She has weekly assignments including readings on Pearson, but all of her assignments are incredibly easy. She is so easy to work with, if you have any issues she will help you, and she posts all of her material to d2l so if you miss a day there is no real penalty. She has a tendency to repeat herself though, and I don't know if that's intentional
This class is very lecture heavy and not very interesting. The class itself is very easy. You don't have to buy a textbook because she gives you the one you use. There is weekly Revel quizzes, but they are really easy. Usually one hw assignment per week but they are also easy. Mid term and a final that aren't cumulative and done with Socratic.
She's very nice and her class is so easy if you just show up.
Show up to class, do the class participation work and homework, and you will be walking out with an A at the end of the semester. The most straightforward course ever!!!!
Professor Philips is a great teacher. She knows her material and makes her lectures interesting. Attendance is not mandatory, but you will not pass the class since we do in class assignments. After every chapter we have to use the e-book to reinforce what we've learned and take quizzes. Her tests were open notes.
Prof. Phillips is so amazing. Textbook is required, and without it you won't be able to complete weekly quizzes. Only 2 tests (midterm/final) that are easy. Attendance is taken everyday, so try to show up! Again, she's really amazing. If you have any issue at all in the class, she will DEFINITELY help you.
She is a very caring professor and is willing to work with you! The classwork and homework were easy. I loved taking her class!
So sweet and genuinely loves her class. Everything is online as far as the workload. Lecture heavy and only uses powerpoint.
Professor Phillips is really sweet! She cares about her students and wants them to succeed! The class consists of weekly quizzes from the textbook and there are only 2 tests: the midterm and the final. Try to show up to class because attendance is taken every day. There are also in-class assignments. If you can, take her. She is amazing!!
she is a very sweet professor, the lectures aren't too boring if you listen and the homework was easy. there were maybe a few times when she wanted you to turn and work with a partner so class was mandatory on those days. the tests also weren't hard, you just had to review the lecture slides and you'd be fine. a great professor & i'd take her again
If your taking her, then she is the best option because she one of the most caring person I ever seen. Tests, Online, OPEN-NOTE, lockdown but NO WEBCAM. What make it easy is that you can take the test HOME. The CON is that the assignments are group or partner but you can do it for yourself. So, I Highly recommend take this professor.
This class was extremely easy, but kinda boring. There is homework weekly but it is easy, just time consuming. She is very nice and cares about her students. The final and the midterm are lockdown, no webcam.
She is really sweet and kind. Always willing to work with you and help you. There is homework every week, it isn't too hard. There are also in-class assignments that you can choose to work in a group for. This is an extremely easy class and an amazing professor. As long as you do the work there is no way to possibly fail this course.
Easy class. Does a lecture with powerpoints posted online, assignments (that you have to be present in class for), and an online textbook with readings and quizzes each week (long but easy). The professor is okay. Some group assignments. Tells lots of stories
Very easy class, no unit tests. Although you do have homework chapter quizizz each week, but they're easy and you can use your resource "quizlet". She is very sweet that she want her class to be nice-friendly environment. There 2 exams, mid-term and final exam which BOTH ARE LOCKDOWN BUT NO WEBCAM & OPEN NOTE. TAKER HER for a Easy A
Professor Phillips is extremely caring and kind to her students. Attendance is mandatory for in-class assignments but I would show up to class anyway because her lectures cover most of her quizzes in Revel. She has weekly chapter quizzes in Revel but all of them are posted at once. In class assignments are fairly easy and basic concepts. 10/10
Take this professor, she's so smooth sailing. Attendance is mandatory as she has in class assignments. If you do these assignments out of class, you will not receive credit. Also, there is an online textbook in which homework and test come from but all test are done with no lockdown browser and open notes. She talks a lot but easy A. Take her.
Professor Phillips is super sweet and makes this easy class engaging. The homework is time-consuming but doable, and the exams are open-note. Unstuck study really helped with study prep.
I absolutely loved Professor Phillips, she truly cares about her students. There is a lot of textbook work; however, it isn't difficult. Her exams aren't difficult either, if you listen to the lectures and take notes, then you will do fine! She has other assignments too, but they are easy, and some are group work! I highly recommend taking her.
shes a great professor very easy going and the attendance is not mandatory but there are in class assignments you can just do at home and get 100 on them. the tests are online and no lockdown browser.
Easiest class ever! All assignments can be done with common sense and all tests are open note with no lockdown. She does take attendance though with a sheet. Otherwise take this class for an easy A with little effort!
Attendance isn't required. There are 3 tests that are open-note online and are pretty easy. There are weekly assignments, but are not time-consuming. She's also very nice and communicates well with students. TAKE HER!!
amazing professor. she really does care about her students and is the sweetest. all the assignments are easy and you get a 100 for putting in effort. tests are online ( no lock down browser ) and are not difficult. there is about one assignment a week and if you miss class you can do it online.
Prof. Phillips is the sweetest! She truly cares about her students, and this is the easiest class I have ever taken. All the assignments are through McGraw Hill, but it's impossible to not get a 100. Tests are open note, and no lockdown browser, also very easy. There are 3-4 assignments per week, but it can all be done in a day.
She's a peach, her class isn't hard and she's very well meaning. Her grading harshness does jump a bit with the final speech in her public speaking class, but I did well. Beware, she is hard of hearing! You'll have to speak up if you want her to hear your question or notice you.
