she is an excellent teacher..always helpful and kind..interesting class, exams are not too hard
Must go to class. Easy class if you know how to use excel.
funny and interesting lecturer. Classes are easy to understand

Really nice teacher....has lots of funny stories to make class interesting. If you pay attention and go to class you should be okay.
I have had her for many classes and she is one of the best teachers there. Make sure you do the homework though.
has a few...er, make that a bunch, of screws loose in her head, but is easy as hell
She's a nut but she's an excellent teacher. She puts things in a way that makes them easy to understand and then gives study guides almost exactly like the tests. I liked her and her class a lot.

She is mean and treats everyone like a kid. She isn't helpful at all.
Jan's a very easy teacher and better than any other stats teacher at WSU. If you have the option, take it from her, go to class, and do the sample tests. If you don't get an A, you should really rethink college altogether. Very easy class.
Sometimes, Wolcutt's a few fries short of a happy meal, but she's still a good professor. Do the homework, study the examples, and you'll do fine on the exams.
computer lab using excel for stats
Jan is definitely a bit on the nutty side. Should be an easy A, just do the homework and practices.
she needs to quit cutting people down and be more helpful, she doesn't even grade her test
Good teacher just a little to spunky at times, moves through the material pretty quick, but stick i out if the course gets tough and ask her questions she is always willing to help all you have to do is ask
The statistics lab is a pretty easy course anyway, and she dosen't overload you with homework.
very easy class not alot of homework open note tests just study her practice tests they are identical to her tests just different numbers
presents material extremely clear! good handouts My favorite class this semester!

Very easy teacher. Keeps the class fun and interesting. Tells millions of stories but they help you remember things.
A good teacher, funny and nice. Get in good with her.
Awful teacher, don't bother buying the textbook you'll never use it. Also, ease up on the lipstick
She relates the material well. Once I missed class and she met with me at her daugther's dance recital to go over what I missed. Very actively helpful if you ask!
This teacher is thorough,,,a thick chick thats heavy on the lipstick. SHe is a great teacher and is willing to help whoever needs it. Take this class because she is an active teacher
I like her teaching style. She makes class fun.

Very wacky and fun. I bet she's wild in bed!
She may be a little wacky, but she really wants every student to do well. She is very understanding when it comes to missing class. Great teacher, wish all mine were like her.
Had her presession stats lab- the assignments were pretty quick and easy, test was just what was taught and to be expected, and she was extremely accessible for help (although I doubt many would really need it). Very easy to pay attention to and relatively fun considering it is a stats class. Take her!
She was VERY helpful. She's also very willing to work around your schedule. She is a bit wacky like others have stated, but it's nice for a change. Keeps you awake in the class. If only all of my teachers were as nice and helpful as she was/is.
Jan Wolcutt makes class fun to go to. That makes the material bearable
I hated going to this class everyday. She told the worst stories which had nothing to do with anything in class. Although I easily got an "A", I don't remember any material from class and I'm paying for it in my upper division classes. I would never take a class from her again and never recomend it to anyone.
uuum..she's very funny and makes the class bearable!
nice lady.
By far the worst teacher i've had at WSU. I'd tell anyone i cared about to stay far away from this lady. She would ramble, tell horrible stories and only knew enough about excel to get by the minimum of the material she was teaching. it was presented horribly and almost incoherient at times. Atleast it was a 1 hour class. Take this at Cowley.
Very nice and helpful. Final is open note and homeworks come with a "hints" page that walks you through it step by step. Keeps you awake; can be wacky and corny at times.
She was helpful...but took too long to give us our grades after pre-session.
she was very down to earth and like to talk about her family and what has happened in the class with some of her past students. i enjoyed going to class and am thankful that we have at least one good teacher at WSU
Friendly instructor and very down to earth. Gives lots of hints and is an A if you try.
Awesome Prof! She was very helpful when anyone needed help, it is obvious she loves her job and is very good at it.
Shes a great teacher. Even gives you notes to help guide you through EVERY step. Also she allows notes on the final and allows more than plenty of time on the final. I aced her final, better than the homework and indeed ended up w/ an a. Homework though can be confusing but she helped clarify that all up.
Jan is a great instructor. I took the 4 day pre-session from her. She is weird & has some odd behavior, but she is very nice & knowledgeable. She is more than willing to answer your questions. She was so patient with this oriental guy in our class who was VERY slow & kept interrupting our class because he didn't get it. I would've lost my patience!
I took this class as a presession and I would recommend anyone to do this as well. I did take off from work the 5 days of the presession. There were times that me and a couple of other students stayed on campus for a couple of hours after class to complete assignments. It payed off in the end because I got well above a 90%. She is really funny too.
Loved her! Very energetic and friendly. Lots of class interaction and activities. Best Macro teacher hands down.
GREAT TEACHER! VERY HELPFUL! VERY UNDERSTANDING! HIGHLY RECOMMEND! she has lots of energy and knows how to teach students so that they learn. first time i actually WANTED to go to class.
Good teacher. East to understand.
Too wacky... way too much.. Sometimes accidentally cuss which is kinda funny, but class is boring. Kinda like teaching for little kids.
Blackboard was down most of the time, worked w/me to get my homework done. Great attitude and always willing to help.
Overall good teacher. A lil crazy which is kinda funny. Teaches a lot over a short amount of time. No text book required. Teaches the same concepts that 231 teaches you so its not hard to get an A. only one test worth 400 points but you can use notes. Take her 4 week class its easy.
Overall good teacher. A lil crazy which is kinda funny. Teaches a lot over a short amount of time. No text book required. Teaches the same concepts that 231 teaches you so its not hard to get an A. only one test worth 400 points but you can use notes. Take her 4 week class its easy.
Very good teacher although crazy and really upbeat sometimes. Answered questions very clearly...tests weren't too difficult. All around good teacher.
Jan is hilarious. Super friendly and will tell you exactly what you need to know. Do study for tests, because they are kinda complicated. This semester there were a lot of things that were messed up about the class, like the textbooks were all different, so I'm worried about my grade. Other than that, she's a good teacher.
Jan is the best professor that I have had since coming to Wichita State. I have always hated Statistics but I really enjoy her class and I would definitely recommend it to others. She is upbeat, funny, and ALWAYS willing to help!
Her 4 week class does cover a lot of information in a short time, but it?s not bad at all. The final is 2/3 of the grade, but it was easier than any assignments we did in class
I'm taking the Stats Lab Pre Session with her - she's hilarious and a great teacher. I understand it 100%, yet couldn't figure out Bus. Stats last semester to save my life. She's a great teacher! HIGHLY RECCOMEND!
She's super nice and likes to help as much as possible. The class was easy if you showed up and did the homework. She did pull a fast one once on a quiz which everyone bombed. I fully recommend her to everyone who takes stats!!!
She is awesome! Kinda out there, but pretty fun to listen to. Take the class as an early session. Make sure to do the homework every night and the practice final. Otherwise you shouldn't have much trouble getting an A.
You don't need to buy the textbook unless you need it to clarify something. She teaches off notes and handouts. I got a B, but with a little more effort I could of got an A. The class does require some study time. I took an 8-week class and you should need about 5 hours a week for homework and studying. She hands out practices for exams and quizzes
Fairly simple class. A super nice lady. Answers all questions. However, the person who grades homework and exams is SO PICKY. If you forget to put a period or something, they dock off a point. They seriously dock off a point for every little mistake. Overall, the class was easy though.
Jan was fun! It's a lot to cover in five days but you can use any electronic form of notes on the final. Her grader, however, was not cool. Make sure to check all of your graded homework... on one of ours this semester, they used the wrong key to grade it! Was curious why I missed half the points...thankfully it was caught. Pay attention!
Teacher is very helpful and class is fairly easy if you have taken stats prior. Class is fast paced so be sure to keep up with the homework and pay attention in class. Overall, not that bad of a class. Be warned if you contact the professor on her home phone or email she is extremely RUDE. But in person she is completely different..
She is a great teacher, but you still need to put forth effort! The homework is graded hard. She is great at teaching and can make anybody understand stats! Very funny as well. This class was very time consuming though. If you want a good grade and are willing to work for it, Jan will help you get it.
this is a pretty easy class. Jan will try to help you get through it. Don't waste too much time doing extra work, really the minimum amount of work will get you through the class. no book, attendance not taken, we really didn't follow syllabus. spent a lot of time off topic
She's an excellent professor with a positive attitude. She's very helpful, patient, flexible, and approachable. Her tests are not hard if you study. Although she can be a bit unorganized at times, her teaching style is outstanding. Her stories make the class fun. I would definitely recommend taking her courses!
DO NOT BUY THE BOOK. We never used it, and she has extra copies in her office that she'll let you temporarily check out. Jan is extremely helpful and knowledgeable, and she gives out candy! Loved this class!
Great professor who knows to teach the class material well! She makes statistics easier to understand and is very willing to help students. I would recommend taking this course with her!
Worst class I have ever taken. I felt stupid when I asked questions. She goes way too fast and expects you to understand everything right away. Those tests? Impossible. It will kill your grade.
Basically this class was a joke. She herself is a wonderful person, and is extremely kind. But her methods of teacher are horrible. She lectures but then midway through she gets off topic. She makes practice exams you can get offline but when you get to the actual test they're completely different. She just expects you to know the everything.
She is absolutely horrible! Jan plays favorites, is the most unorganized person ever, and is not helpful whatsoever. This class should be easy but she makes it confusing and difficult. Not only is Jan a horrible professor, but her phone constantly goes off in class. She is one of the worst professors I've ever had. Do not take this class with her!!
I'm surprised to see so many poor reviews about her! I love her teaching style, I learn much better than on a normal lecture. I'm in the honors 201 class and I find her extremely helpful and I always receive at least a mid B on tests and essays. I find the class easy and enjoyable. Her study guides are helpful. But she can be disorganized.
Janet has a weird way of teaching that takes time to get used too. We almost never used the textbook. You need to go to class to get the handouts, which are very helpful for quizzes and exams. Final was worth a third of our grade. Ended up getting an A- but spent a lot of time studying. DO HER PRACTICE EXAMS! Very nice lady.
1 credit hour Econ class was terrible. The instructors grade extremely hard and assigns an absurd amount of homework every week. Instructor doesn't care about students. Expect 5-8 hours MINIMUM a week to complete the typical 3 long assignments, and 12 quizzes per week. This class requires more attention than a managerial accounting course.
Wolcutt's exams are easy if you do the assignments well. But, the thing about her is that she starts acting like a 16 yr old by randomly taking out her phone and start texting during the middle of class. So, it indicates that she has a careless personality--and you just have to tolerate it.
Wolcutt may be a good person, but is a horrible teacher. Class moves far too quickly and she loses sight that not everyone has made a career from statistics. I would take another prof if possible.
I took this class online but I understood expectations so well that I didn't need to interact with her much but thought she was great! No complaints.
Jan REALLY wants all her students to succeed! I needed some help and she had me over to her house, twice, on her own time to help explain things to me. She makes herself super accessible and she is always willing to do whatever she can to help. Class is VERY important to go to, but not mandatory. You will probably struggle if you don't attend.
Jan is a wonderful person and is willing to help you in any way she can. However, I took an 8 week summer course and it was like she tried to fit an entire 16 week course into 8 weeks. This class is a LOT of work and is very fast paced. I spent my entire summer studying. There were 10-15 assignments/videos to work on every day to stay on track.
This was a very informative class. Im still using what I learned in my professional life.
NEVER take ECON 231 online with Wolcutt. I've had her for a face-to-face class and she was great. But I'm telling you, don't take this class online with her. I spent probably 20 hours a week just on thousands of weekly assignments, not even studying for the tests. Class had a very heavy workload. Save yourself.
This is a one hour class- but a lot of work! GO TO CLASS AND DO YOUR HW! She gives you everything that you need in order to pass with a good grade. She is very supportive and there should be no reason that you do not understand the material- she will even meet with you on weekends. Overall, a good class but a lot of work in a short time.
Very nit picky grader. Rambles on with stories that have nothing to do with class. Very cluttered and unorganized grading criteria
Jan is a good person, but not the best teacher. I did not enjoy her teaching style, which is basically comprised of handing you 5 pieces of paper a day and asking you to attempt to do the problems by yourself without guidance. Then you will go over the answers and move on to another paper. There isn't much homework, tests are worth a lot.
Pretty fair class. Lots of group activities/simulations to help further your understanding, which was very helpful. Dr. Wolcutt is friendly and eager to help, but has a pretty strict and unclear/odd grading criteria. Tends to stray off-topic pretty often. Provides good reviews for tests and is more available outside of class than most professors
Jan has been my favorite professor at WSU so far. She is extremely friendly and approachable. Don't be afraid to participate! It will help you.
Overall she was a very good professor. She was always there if you had a question. If you study and are proficient in math the class is a breeze, but studying and understanding the information is very important. Her tests are typically based off her reviews, but the tests are a significant portion of the grade.
I noticed that Dr. Jan has better reviews for her online classes than her in person classes and it makes sense why. In person, we were given multiple worksheets and not a lot of instruction, but her online lectures that she uploaded were GREAT. If I had been watching the videos from the start of the class, I definitely would have had more success!
I would recommend taking any class from Jan. She teaches very well and if you are struggling she will always help you out no matter what. I would recommend taking ECON 231 and even 232 with her online because they are very simple classes because she makes them very understandable. Also, I would recommend taking them both online if you can.
Professor Wolcutt is so delightful and caring. Her lectures are divided up to small parts which is nice because it gives short breaks and makes the workload feel a lot more manageable. She responds to messages fairly quickly.
Took up a lot of time because of the HW, but it helps with exams. You use Excel for most your HW/exams(proctored). Stats can be enjoyable lowkey. Can be annoying because there are many lil things that apply for specific things. You gotta push a lil above average to get an A. She's very open for questions thru phone and email. Don't be afraid to ask
She is amazing I would 100 percent recommend her as a teacher!
I took an honor class from her. She is amazing. She is hilarious. And she is a very interesting person to talk to. She brings fun things to do in class/activities which help you learn the material very well. She is EXTREMELY accessible outside of class-don't hesitate to reach out. Exams are based directly off of homework and classwork.
I did not enjoy having to do many little assignments . My complaint is that this class is very workload heavy, however, her practice exams do prepare you for the actual exams. I just heavily disliked how the many assignments were tedious and unnecessary and Janet can really work on this aspect of her online course.
I cannot say how much I enjoyed Dr. Wolcutt's class. She is hilarious and her lectures and activities drive the content home while still being incredibly engaging. She is always willing to help and is very accessible outside the classroom. The tests follow the hw and practice tests. It's an easy A! Would definitely recommend!
Dr. Wolcutt is a great choice for the ECON 231 class. There are a lot of little assignments. However, they are extremely doable and don't affect your grade much if you get them done. If you have questions, she is always avaliable. Like in her other classes, her practice tests prepare you fully for the tests and there is lots of extra credit!
she about hard as hell
This online class has a ton of small assignments - many of which the reading material and example videos do not adequately prepare you for. I have had an incredibly hard time reaching her for assistance and often feel like I've been left to struggle on my own. Hopefully I am able to pass this class.
Jan had problems with her graders. It was difficult receiving feedback and the grader was always incorrect. The amount of times our assignments had to be regraded was sad, we'll never know if my grade is accurate. She could've bumped the grade up to an A for the inconvenience. For this class to be one credit hour it was a headache.
Professor Wolcutt's ECON231 class is no easy feat, but the structured assignments and practice exams make it manageable. The workload is heavy, but engaging with the course materials, including using Unstuck study for study prep, can really pay off. Overall, it's a rewarding class if you're willing to put in the effort.
