DONT TAKE THIS TEACHER she may seem nice but she really isnt she gives to much work to do
She is so nice! Very helpful. You have 3 essays the whole year, and thats including the research paper. Other then that you have small in class work. If you just listen and do the work, then you will get an A.
Great teacher, she's very sweet and s always trying to help you and gives a lot of extra cresit. She uses the book a lot, but if you do the homework and go to class you will definately get an A. I definately recommend her!
It is true that she gives a lot of work, but she also gives extra credit. If you stay on top of your work, you will get an A.
she demands attendance, and gives plenty of work
super hard and gives way too much work.
On the first day it sounded like there would be a lot of work but it's not hard work. Don't get intimidated and drop the class. As long as you keep up with the work you'll get at least a B. She is a nice teacher overall
Although she is demanding she is an excellent teacher. In other words, yes you have to work for your grade- but it?s not anything that requires real undivided attention where the full capacity of your brainpower is needed, come on guys. She wants you to walk away with a good grade and an education. She is accommodating and generally flexible.
Hard teacher, a lot of work. Grades very harshly. I started off slacking, then tried to pull my grade up. That was a horrible idea. I'll be lucky to get a C. Very nice and helpful, but wayyy too much homework!
bielecki is an anal person please do not take this class if shes the only enc 1102 left wait for next semester. she grades entirely too harsh this class will stump you theres entirely too much work and a small amount of time. there also logic exams and testing that has nothing to do with the class. shes a very irrelevant person and a complete low l
shes a nice teacher but there was alot of work to do in her class. there is always a test or paper due. if you miss a day, trust me you will regret it. as long as you do the work and turn it in on time you will be fine, probly get a C but if you want an A you have to really work for it. her class was pretty hard.
She's the best ENC instructor. Yes she might give a lot of homework and essays, but its all worth it. She does harsh grading, but it's only to help you in the long run. She gives extra credit, and she is very helpful. The only problem she has is being too nice. The people I had in my class acted like straight kids so they ran all over her.
She is absoultely wonderful. She is always willing to help. The writing of so many papers is a drag, but she teaches in a way that one can understand what is needed to get through her class.
She's a great teacher. this class was very helpful. she makes sure students understand the material
Ms Bielecki was a excellent teacher. She is a really nice professor and cares about english. Her assignments are not that difficult and she is always willing to help you. The day grades needed to be turned in she told me to turn in a old assignment so my graded can get boosted up one letter. Super nice lady
This is a great teacher, but do not take her if you are a slacker or want an easy course. There is a TON of work and she grades pretty tough, but she also allows for over 300 points extra credit. I have a lot of respect for Ms. Bielecki, she cares about her students' success more than most.
Ms. Bielecki is a nice teacher but she expects way too much out of her kids. Literally the hardest English class I have ever taken. Unless you want to become a better writer and write a bunch of essays take this class. Otherwise I would not recommend her.
Jana Bielecki is a great teacher. She is fun and very clear when teaching. She gives lots of essays only because it is state mandated, but is willing to help you throughout the process. She is my favorite teacher so far!
The best English teacher at the ybor campus. I literally hate taking English, until now...
Ms. Bielecki is my favorite teacher. At first I was nervous because she gives a lot of homework, but she gives you a reasonable amount of time to turn it in, and it's also not that hard. She also gives extra credit. Explains very well, helps as much as she can, and not that bore me to sleep kind of lecture. Keep up with the work and its an easy A.
She's super nice, but an extremely critical grader. She will mark off for EVERY missed comma, misspelled word (everything). But you learn a lot in her class & I can honestly say I am a better writer because of her. Also expect a lot of homework. The class isn't easy esp if you don't like Englishwriting like myself. Do your hw & you'll do fine.
Do not take this class unless you don't have a job and have all the time in the world to write and re-write essays. I wish I would have dropped the class within the first week, because Bielecki expects too much from students that work or have been out of an English class for a while.
She is the best professor I have ever had! She is so inspirational and a really good person who loves teaching English. Be prepared to apply yourself you have to earn your grade! She is such a smart woman and very kind. When you make a good grade on her essays, you know that you've earned it.
This teacher is a must! Even if you do not like English, you will never look at it the same. A lot of homework and she's very critical, but you will want to write better from her class forward!
Ms. B is wonderful. She is nice and is always there to help. She does give a lot of homework and is a tough grader; however extra credit is given to help if you need it. Show up to class and do your work, you will pass. I would take her class again. I am taking ENC1102 with Ms. B. next semester.
Great professor. I took her class as a condensed summer class. It was challenging, as papers were due back-to-back. Ms. Bielecki gave super helpful feedback, and I feel I am a stronger writer now since I took her class. I would recommend her if you're not afraid to work, and and really aim to improve yourself.
To those at HCC who choose to take this professor, be advised, She will go tough on everyone. She does not play. If you are one of those who likes to be challenged, this professor is for you. Otherwise, find someone else who isn't too freakin strict. Next time I will do my research before picking a professor. Mrs. B is nice, but is too much.
Very good teacher. was hard at first, once you get the hang of thing you will do great as long as you submit assignments on time. She is accepting when it comes to one on one mistakes and I wouldn't take advantage of her when it comes to second chances.
She expects a lot from her students. She is incredibly friendly and explains her lessons in detail.
Fall 2016 was my second time take Mrs. B class. She is very helpful, explains things clearly. But this is a class you don't want to take while you are taking another class. this class is very demanding there is always something you should be working on.
This professor is very cold hearted not willing to help you understand. She has lost her passion for teaching. Her best advice she is willing to provide you with is to drop her class. Do not take her class you are only setting yourself up for failure. Her workloads are very heavy. If you take this class do not work, are take any other class.
She gives a syllabus and follows it to a t!! If she makes any changes to it she will inform you. Tons of homework, uses canvas/ blackboard for everything. Approachable , wants to see students do well and very informative. Timely with grading, giving test and assignments back for review.
Mrs. Bielecki was a great ENC 1102 Professor, very well organized teaching method. This class has a lot of turn around dates, so be sure to stay on top of that. Her feedback provided on your essays are very thorough, she does use an online grading system, but provides her personal input. Reads everything from a powerpoint.
Incredibly organized and precise. Grading is strict, but fair. Actually writing your drafts helps a ton.
Ms. Bielecki is very strict when grading. I received 2 F's on my essays because the first one was 8 words under the word count and the second was 13 words over. Once I realized I had to be very specific when it came to the rubric, it was too late to save my grade. She's also very strict with grammar. But she does give great feedback.
Professor Bielecki is a wonderful teacher. Although her class is very intense. Lots of homework grammar, citations, and organization is important in essays. She gives great feedback and very helpful. If you do all of your homework and stay on top of everything, you're guaranteed at least a B. I am currently taking her for ENC 1102 and doing great.
Shes a great teacher but she is very strict and give to much work. To many essays and to many drafts to right to get to your final essay. If you wanting a essay English 2 teacher, do not take her
Watch out for the word counts. You will get a zero if you miss the word count, no exceptions. She posts everything online, the only reason to show up would be peer feedback on papers.
If you are already a very busy person, beware before taking this class; you will be required to do a lot of work. With that being said, if you genuinely want to improve on your writing abilities, Ms. B. is the professor to take.
She gives good feedback that can help a ton with your writing skills. Lecture heavy but it pays off because of all the useful information she provides her students with. Great teacher.
Jana Bielecki is an amazing professor. It is clear how sweet she is. However, after my first essay, I started disliking her. I did not put much effort on the first essay and I got a "C". As a letter "A" student, I got really upset about it. What I realized was that you MUST to go to her office hours in order to get an A. I learned a lot!!!
Gives great feedback! Will definitely improve your writing skills. There are 3 main essays that count for most of your grade & A LOT of small assignments!!!
This teacher is a tough, strict grader, but gives you the chances to succeed and pass the class. I took her class for ENC 1101 and 1102. I wrote a lot of papers, but grew as a writer and a student. You have to stay on top of the work or you will be in trouble. Her grading is strict, but fair. She gives you the rubrics before and grades it from that
Dont ever take this class this teacher does not care about you or your grade she grades way to hard I dont think anyone can get an a on any of her papers she makes you do 2 drafts on every paper and makes you go to tutoring even after all that and with feedback from her she still gives you bad grades on papers dont take this class with her
I thought there was no way I would pass this. Ms. B gives a TON of assignments, due on thursday & sunday of every week. Soon into the semester I realized that i loved her. She cares so much about her students, esp once she knows that you care! She is an amazing teacher and I learned so much from her! Even though its alot of work, you get used to it
This professor is one of the best. She establishes her expectations and does not deviate from them, that's admirable. She does give a lot of homework, but if you stay in front of it, there shouldn't be a problem. She gives excellent feedback and always made me feel good about my drafts even though I my drafts were terrible.
Shes the best dont pay mind to the bad reviews on her. Shes a touch grader when it comes to the essays but as long as you pay attention, go over your essays, and ask her for help instead of waiting for feedback on canvas you should be fine.
Ms. Bielecki is really passionate about what she teaches and, if you give her the chance, she'll help you to become a better writer. English was always a favorite subject of mine, but this class was by no means an easy A. If something is not understood or if you are struggling, reach out to her. She will try her best to help each individual student
She's very nice and will answer all your questions, but her style seems to reflect that of a textbook. Theres enough time to complete essays and such, they are assigned frequently and the topics are very vague. She gives vague topics to make it easier on students, but it made it harder for me. Take at your own risk, her class isn't for everyone.
Professor Bielecki's ENC 1101 is difficult. Not because the work is hard but because she is a tough grader. I feel she is a little over the top with how tough she grades. However, this has improved my writing but I am struggling to pass her class because of it . She does care about her students and is very nice. Proceed with caution.
Mrs. Bielecki was a very professional teacher. She was always kind and respectful to all her studentseven the ones who struggled to comprehend the material. I wouldn't consider her class to be an easy A, but I do believe that fluent english speakers should not have much trouble with the course if they just do the work asked of them.
She gives extreme amounts of work to do. Other classes, I had, say 2 assignments per week but for hers, I would have 5 or 6. She is a very tough grader, I never got better than a C on an essay and when you read her feedback, it's very vague and doesn't make much sense. She has tiny rules that she makes such a big deal, it ridiculous.
Ms. B is a nice lady, but not a good teacher. I took this class based on the reviews that was posted about her; however, none of them accurately conveyed that she is a very demanding teacher. The way she wants youto write papers is as if you are majoring in English. Also, it's normal to space out during class because all she does it repeat herself.
She's a very nice person, and does help her students. However I think her teaching style is stiff and too "out of the book". Make sure to have your book every day because you will be lost even after 1 day.
I read reviews about Ms. Bielecki before taking her class and thought, "She can't be that bad." I was wrong. She changed my grade on an assignment from 100 to 0. I was apparently off topic even though I followed the instructions exactly. She comes off as nice in class but her feedback online is VERY rude.
I hated my life taking this professor. In class she acts kind and nice but online she is the worst. She is the most nitpicky professor I have ever has the displeasure of knowing. Bullied me into dropping her class because I stood up for myself. DO NOT DO IT
Mrs B, seems like a nice lady but not a good teacher. 3 essays due but she is a tough graders make you do a brainstorm, outline, first 1/2 draft, peer review and turn it to smart thinking before the final essay. With all that done, will still critique you. Many quizzes due!! Everything is due by 1PM. If you like a lot work take her.
I love writing and gave no second thought to the fact that she gives an a lot of work. It'll get done was my motto. I worked a full time job with the post office which is no small feat and also no excuse. I missed one rough draft that brought my grade to a 69.9. It was my second time already so now out of state tuition for me sadly. BEWARE
Very rude with her comments for feedback. Isn't clear about what she is expecting but yet expects you to understand what she wants. VERY TOUGH GRADER and VERY high expectations. Too many rough drafts, peer reviews and etc before you can even finish your book. LOTS OF HOMEWORK that you have to work on it every single night.
She's very rude w/ her feedback & is the reason why college is a joke. First&second draft must be sent to a tutor for feedback, be peer reviewed & graded by her. While working on a research paper that's a huge part of your final grade. I don't recommend this professor, in her syllabus she says to tell your boss, family&friends that ENC comes first
She's about to lose her job with all this negative feedback; she legit thinks she's good at teaching? What a joke, she couldn't teach a rock to stay still. Legit, she grades like she's god, like are you serious it's ENC 1101 buddy. I revised an essay 6 seconds after it was due and she gave it a 0; she's a joke, I hope she's gone after this semester
Pain. Just pain. Compliments your essay while giving it a low score that weighs very heavy. Feedback is good but grading is tough. You need to have no life in order to get an A in this class. Doing all the extra credit offered makes no dent into your grade either. All late work is a 0 too... no leniency with tech or family problems at all. : (
Professor Bielecki was my first college Professor. I am grateful that I started here, because it set the bar. The course load is HEAVY; 3 Essays, 1 Intro Paragraph, 1 Midterm Essay & Exam, 1 Final Exam & Essay, Discussion Board & Peer Responses, and Quizzes. A lot of work but well worth it. Professor gives great feedback to help you improve.
Great professor. She expects a lot, but is fair.
To be honest she was the worst English teacher Ive ever had, she expects the work her way or no way. I tried working with her multiple times on my essays and she would work with me and give me things to say in my paper than say my paper was written poorly. She grades extremely harsh and doesnt give second chances. DO NOT TAKE ANY OF HER CLASES.
Prof. Bielecki was not helpful and I had to withdrawal from the course as she kept giving me zeros on assignments done very well and way ahead of time. This was not typical for me as a high A level student and was definitely not a good experience for my first college course.
This prof runs a course that's not accessible and has been reported to the OSSD department. 0 flexibility. Had to have OSSD papers changed repeatedly to accommodate HER- not me, the disabled student. Blatant ableism and discriminatory issues. Rules over the course like it's not by her design. 0 assignments ADA compliant and unapologetic to boot.
If you have a full time job or family Id advise finding another class. Workload is excessively and annoyingly heavy. It all seems like busy work, but it will be a part of your grade. Even writes in the syllabus to speak to your employer about how English comes first. Feedback is not very nice. Requires zoom meetings as part of your grade.
Just dont. Trust me.
Took this class online, 3 assignments due every Wednesday and Saturday, so.. much.. work.., its clear that she puts a lot of effort into her class but it is way more difficult than it has to be, not accommodating at all
The teacher does not care about her students.
Ms.B is a *tough* grader with an intensive course load. However, the amount of extra credit she offers is crazy? 2 quizzes, an essay, an overall bonus for all on-time submissions, and 10% extra credit on any paper submitted at least 24 hours between the deadline. I will say she is decently understanding of computer issues and family situations. :)
To add to the tags that I selected, "Skip class? You won't pass", "Lecture Heavy", and "Get Ready to Read". Her class has at least 5 assignments due every day that the students meet, she has slim windows for meetings, and does not give much for extra credit. In my opinion, take this class in the summer, because god knows I should have...
I hated her! I am normally an A student in English but this time around was different. Her grading is extremely harsh and she is not the type of person that cares about your other priorities. I had just had a baby and she did not care. She gave me zeros for assignments I missed and it was nearly impossible to keep up! Save yourself the trouble!
Professor Bielecki is a very tough grader. That can be good for some students who really need the feedback, but it will generally not help your GPA. You will need to not miss a single assignment submitted twice a week. At your best as a native English speaker that took AP classes, your best grade will be A- or B+.
She hates teaching and doesn't care about students. I don't know why she still has a job at HCC. Doesn't respond to email or has empathy for students. Grades super hard and doesn't accept late work. She is too busy to concern herself with students. I made the mistake of not reading the other reviews before taking her class. Never again!
As long as you're putting in the effort, Prof. Bielecki DOES care about her students. When I started this class I was terrible at writing in all aspects. By the time I finished this class, she encouraged me to submit one of my papers for a writing contest. She is tough and rough around the edges, but she gives lots of feedback to guide you.
If you are serious about your academic writing and learning how to research and formulate essays well, this class is a great option. Ms. Bielecki is relatively serious and will mark you down for simple mistakes, but if anything, I found this challenge to be beneficial in the long run.
I took Professor Bielecki for ENC 1101 and 1102, getting a B+ in 1101 and ending up with an A in 1102. Professor Bielecki has very strict grading criteria, but if you are serious about applying yourself and doing your best, you will learn a lot from her and improve your writing skills.
I took her for ENC 1101 and 1102 and she was pretty good. Some of the quizzes were tedious and annoying and the workload could be overwhelming sometimes but if you keep a decent schedule and submit on time you should be fine. She communicated a lot and was super supportive as well.
Professor Bielecki is a very tough grader but provides great feedback. If you're looking to improve your writing skills, take this class. If you're only looking for an easy A I'd look elsewhere. I'm normally the one who tries to get an easy A, but in a weird way I'm glad I took this class. I struggled, but it helped me improve my writing skills.
I honestly think she is a sweet/knowledgable lady but the way she formats the class, get ready to work on three different types of essays-basically all at once. Each essay has lot of assignments and you have to meet up with her in these weird one-to-one zooms that although can be helpful and easy 100, it's still not worth the time. DONT TAKE THIS!
I did the 8-week course; it was very fast pace 2-3 assignments every MWF. But they were always relatively easy, and she allows multiple attempts. The papers are what you need to worry about; they hold the highest weight % in grades. Do really good on those 3 papers, and your guaranteed an A. Great teacher overall, caring, kind. Just a lot of work
Assignments are hard but very unnecessary. She makes you meet with online tutors and meet zoom calls to discuss your essay. As someone who works full time and does school full time I do not have time for that bs. Also she makes most of her assignments due during the week which is slightly annoying.
This class was an overall great experience. It was a lot of work with hard deadlines (late work = 0), but the major essay assignments were explained with much detail and had incremental steps to help complete them correctly and on time. Ms. Bielecki was great with giving feedback and answering questions. I feel like I learned quite a bit.
stay away unless wanna do endless assaiments and at the end fail the class
This professor excels at teaching online. Assignments were graded in a timely manner and her expectations on assignments were clear.
She was a good professor overall. I had a rough start at the beginning of the semester, but once i had talked to her on teams, i found out she was actually super caring.
Do not take this course if you aren't ready for ridiculous amounts of homework, all of which are due seemingly at random days during the week. I work and attend classes in person and don't have time for everything she requires. For every essay, she expects you to meet with a tutor. How I am meant to find the time, I will never know.
The good: - Great amount of extra credit. - Accessible outside of class and prioritizes office hours. The bad: - Minimal passion for her subject. - Shallow persona. She is intentionally neutral and inspires zero critical thinking. - Lectures are highly robotic and monotonous. She is not bad for online, but I would not recommend in-person.
Graded and argumentative essay of mine based on her ideology rather than grading it for essay quality. Also tried to correct me on names of characters from Warhammer in multiple essays saying that they "are not real words" and made me take time out of my day to prove her otherwise with multiple sources, only to leave my grade exactly the same.
Terrible teacher. Thats all I have to say. When looking for an english professor do NOT pick this one.
Don't take this class unless u want to be taking super difficult assignments that have a super dumb rubric. There are many other ENC teachers and I highly suggest you take one of their classes. I think most other teachers would be way better and much less rude to the students. I haven't stated half the problems she has. I hope your smarter than me.
Due dates were inconsistent, late work will NEVER be expected unless youre in the hospital or have an EXTREME emergency WITH evidence. Have a job? quit. If you think "it shouldnt be a problem" youre wrong. I could write more on why you shouldnt pick this teacher but I dont have enough characters. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS. If its too late good luck.
Don't take this teacher please I beg. If you care about your future don't pick this professor. DON'T be fooled by the good reviews, its a scam. Have a job? quit. Any technical issues? your fault and call HCC live. No excuse matters I swear unless you have a doctors note. Life just goes down hill and need help? so what. Save yourself the trouble.
The course is a nightmare to navigate on canvas. It is so unnecessarily difficult and time-consuming for an intro level writing class. There are required conferences for papers including the final paper. In these conferences she gave me nothing but positive feedback then failed my final paper which dropped my grade significantly. Do NOT take this.
