Took this class, and it sucked b/c of the teacher. she has a rediculous 3 day attendance policy with no exceptions, talks down to you in class as if you are incapable of understanding anything when you ask questions for clarification. however tests are pretty straight out of the book/lecture main topics. Wording is awful, purposeful confusion!!!

She seems really mean and intimidating in the beginning, but she lightens up and is a very good teacher. No computers allowed in class. Lectures are boring and long. WRITE DOWN SLIDES EVERYDAY BEFORE CLASS! If you don't write down or print out slides before class good luckshe goes way to fast to write down anything. Not very helpful and doesn't seem to care if you pass doesn't matter to her she's just here to teach and get paid and make you miserable

Dr. Phillips deserves better reviews. Many people on here seem to be surprised that they would actually have to study for this class. The content is a lot to swallow, but she sections it all out and explains it in-depth. You must print out the slides for effective notes. She gives you all the study tools you need & tells cases that will be on test

This class requires you to actually take your time to understand and do the homework. The content is a lot to wrap your head around. The test are 30 questions and each question is worth 6 points. With that being said, it is so important to study weeks before the test day. Prof. Phillips although intense, is a good instructor.

Jana Phillips is the worst professor I've had at MSU. It is very exam heavy & there is only three exams total. U must read your textbook and notes before class if u want to pass. She has no extra credit opportunities so if u fail an exam be prepared for ur grade to drop. I would never recommend her as a professor for any class bc she is rude/mean.

A single question on an exam or quiz was worth more points than an entire homework assignment. Also, the homework tasks DO NOT have a consistent due date schedule, and they are due at 10 pm instead of the standard 11:59 pm. The professor woefully prepares you for the exams or quizzes, so you do not get any good study materials until after Quiz 1.

Please avoid her if you can. She refuses to let you see your test after you take it unless you make an appointment. And even then, you cant write down the answers to the questions you got wrong. Very uptight about her class rules (no showing up late, sitting in the wrong seat, no computers) and will talk down to you like a child if you break them.

Great professor and not that challenging of a class. If you do badly in this class, that is on you. It can be intimidating, but coming to class, asking questions, and basically memorizing the slides you print out will help you the most. She gives zero EC and beware of HW due dates, other than that, this class is pretty fun and interesting.

This professor was by far one of the best professors I've had. She provided amazing examples for every definition. The class itself is difficult but Jana is not. Study really hard for her tests and you will be fine, ask her questions, she seriously knows her stuff! Show up to every class otherwise you will miss very important information.

Yes this class is hard, but Jana is an amazing professor who knows how to teach. This isn't the class that you can just show up, leave, and take the test. YOU HAVE TO STUDY. She gives great tips for study methods. I averaged a B on every test with an A on the 2nd test. Study and you will do well.

So get ready to write, don't expect homework grades to help, and don't expect any extra credit. Lastly, you better not have to go to the bathroom because you're a distraction.

If you are a planning major, this course is crucial to focus in.

Shes one of those teachers who expect you to learn everything before class, then come to class to just listen to her talk, and she does take attendance. She makes homework due at 10, you aren't allowed computers in class, can't leave for any reason, can't look at test you've taken, and she will call you out in front of the entire class.

Best Professor I've had at Missouri State. She knows what she's talking about and she covers all the info on the exams in class. I Her lectures are interesting and the content is things that you can actually use later in life. Your grade is determined by your test scores which stinks. This class isn't an easy A but I highly recommend taking it.

I took this 3-week summer course with Prof. Phillips because the other teacher had bad reviews. She gave clear instructions, a precise assignment schedule, and provided quick responses to my questions. The tests were pretty hard, but the smartbooks prepared me enough not to fail them. Despite not doing well, I would still take her class again.

Teaches you to apply everything you learn in the real world. Read the textbook and take notes BEFORE class and you will understand the material better. Questions for tests/quizzes are application based. There is so much material so you have to study a lot, but she is a girlboss and I have so much respect for her.

DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCE. She has been the absolute worst professor I have ever had in my entire life. I am close to done with college and I can confidently say that she is the worst professor I've ever had. She WILL NOT round grades. a 59.99% is an F. The 5 exams / quizzes are worth 80% of your grade. The final is weighed so heavily my grade could have dropped 20%. The HW is 5pts and wont impact your grade. I should have listened & taken it at OTC.

She is strict and refuses to curve grades, allow a notes sheet, or give extra credit. Do not taking her as a professor. Her class impacted my GPA and was not worth struggling all year.
