Only multiple choice tests. Gives a very complete study guide. If you pay attention in class and study the guide, you can get an A on the test.
This instructor won't "give", you an A, but an A is certainly attainable in her class. I know because I did it despite overwhelming circumstances. Dr. Bardal is an exellent instructor and I am glad that I was given the opportunity to attend her class. I would take another class with her in a minute!
Jane Bardal should work for the prison system. She was of no help or interesting. I passed with an A but did'nt learn a thing.

Sweet teacher but she is super boring! You have to be extremely into psych to have fun in her class. She lectures a ton and has great slides and movies she shows in class. Buy the text book because vocabulary is her favorite and she has you read the text book.
She?s great! All you need to do is pay attention in class, take notes and study a little and you?ll get an A. Most of her test questions are directly from her lectures. She?s very good at making the class interesting. She also presents the material several different ways. It makes it easy to learn from her.
Jane is a very nice helpful teacher. She gives good notes and her assignments are helpful and not overwhelming. She did have a lot of videos that we watched in class that she asks questions on her tests so attendance is a must. She is not super entertaining but she has alot of knowledge to share. I highly recommend her as she is a fair to her student
Awesome instructor! I've taken her for 2 Psy classes so far, and I will take her again. You need to come to class to participate. If you do the homework, your quizes will be a breeze. She is extremely helpful and keeps you interested.
she was good...
She is a very fair instructor. If you show up to class you will do fine. She is also very helpful when you are in need. My books went missing one day and she went out of her way to help me with my situation, lending me hers until I got my replacements.
She uses helpful videos and slides, but her lectures seem to be all over the place. Also, when she's asked a question, she doesn't really give a straight answer.
She is a great teacher that likes to be asked questions. Some people were upset when she showed videos that were a little political in Social Psych, but they were republicans that couldn't take criticism and liked to cry. I think she was a great teacher that didn't overload with homework. Lots of quizes. Much more homework in Stats and Principles.
Jane Bardal is a very politically bias teacher. She makes references to politics in nearly every lecture, semi compare & contrasting - except, she is VERY Democratic and expresses it with heavy influence. However she seems fair enough, and is an ok teacher if you can choke down the many biases she has for the Democratic Party
This has been the worst psych class that I have ever taken...
I'm sure she knows the material but she has no idea how to teach you the material. Poor quality instructor and it's a waste of time taking her class.
This is by far the WORST Teacher ever. She talks a lot about politics and not nearly enough about psychology. She plays favorites and isn't fair in her grading. She looses control of the class letting some students break in with stupid random topics.
Horrible. I'll never take a class with Jane again.
I have taken 2 of her psych classes and each was a bit different. I can see where people get mad bc she doesn't seem to answer your questions straight on or give a fun lecture, but as long as you attend class it's super easy to pass. There's hardly any homework, just keep up with quizzes. Lots of videos which is easy.
Horrible. Don't take her class if you want to learn anything about psychology.
Teacher did not know subject matter. Could not teach.
I thoroughly enjoyed her lectures, they were fun, informative and educational. She is a very interesting person to listen and knows her material. It is a class that requires work and participation. Do as she suggests and you'll do fine.
This teacher is the worst Psych teacher I have had. I would not recommend her at all. She does not answer questions when asked, she doesn't go over material very well and has lack of sympathy for those that are struggling. Truly pointless to try and understand because she won't help anyways.
She's an ok teacher. Her lectures only make sense if you read the chapter ahead of time. I passed her class with an A but it's not easy!
She's a great teacher, but she just doesn't let us keep the tests so that we can see what we've done wrong and don't make the same mistakes in the future.
This teacher did not understand statistics well enough to teach the class. Also, she was not a good professor. She did not answer the questions the students had--she answered other questions. Most of the people in the class barely escaped with a "c."
I have only been in her class for half the semester but I hated it the very first day. This lady cannot teach at all and I feel I haven't learned anything all semester. She never answers questions, and always looks like she really doesn't understand what her students are asking. So far this is the worst Psy class I've taken and the most boring.
She understands the material, but do not expect any compassion for personal issues. Your house could burn down and she will still burn you on attendance and 50% point off on late papers. DO NOT TAKE THIS TEACHER!
With a class that is centered on discussion, of course participation and attendance are mandatory. No one should expect to have exceptions made for them. Fascinating topic. I liked Jane as a professor.
She is a good teacher but she wants what she wants and if you don't know exactly what that is you don't get very good grades. When you ask a question it seems to me that she never really answers the question but also acts like she doesn't know what you are talking about or like you are speaking another language.
I really like Jane Bardal class. I especially liked the way she taught the class. She use different learning techniques as visual, plenty of quizzes that we immediately corrected, which made me learn better. The class is not easy and don't expect a easy ride, but if you are a serious student, you do well.
This class is incredibly easy. The professor is a bit dull and awkward. Asking questions is pretty much pointless because she gives you a response that doesn't really answer your question. However, if you do the assignments and read the chapters on your own, you should be fine. (I got an A+ in the class but learned little from her lectures.)
Great instructor! If you attend class, take notes and study, you will Ace this class! Dr. Bardal is very clear, gives out study guides, inclass ungraded quizes(very helpful) and uses lectures on test (MC). You will also do a service learning or extra paper, I think four total 1-2 pages.
Extremely dry. 90% of class is film-watching, 10% lecture. I would recommend you record her lectures because the tid bits that do come out of her mouth appear on her tests. One of her selected films is racially sensitive and profane...absolutely inappropriate for any audience, except those that wish to watch disturbing material. Disappointing!
Overall the class is very easy. She is very clear about what she wants and if you have questions she will lead you to the right answer. She's a Bit dry but if you want to be entertained like a child go home and watch tv.
Bardal is a great teacher. She works hard to make sure her students learn by offering quizzes, visual tools, and study guide etc. It is clear she expect the same from her students that they study and work hard as well. I learned a lot from this teacher and highly recommend her to anyone who is a serious student.
Expository writing is essential for her class. Strict outlines of what is expected in writing, such as answering specific questions. Does not regulate class discussions well. Many times I have been frustrated because I have something to say and students just keep talking and Ms. Bardal doesn't step in or call on people with hands raised.
I would not take this course again because I can read the books on my own and save myself from discussions that model counceling sessions more than a college course. I can't say I learned a lot and the discussions were often frustrating as certain students monopolized them. Save some $ and pick a different class...
Bardal is a wonderful instructor who really knows her stuff, but she is not for the student who wants a easy A. If you are a student who is willing to work hard and eager to learn, you'll do great. I took Bardal's honors class among other classes and I learned a lot. Fantastic teacher!
Sort of a strange woman, a little confusing sometimes but not bad as a teacher. Great class for film buffs. Really enjoyed some of her movie choices
SHE IS GREAT
You watch a movie every class. When you ask her a question she never really answers your question just nods her head and says ya until you give up on her giving you an answer. What she puts on the review is not the same as what is on the test. Not a hard class but you need to read the book and basically teach yourself the material.
Jane is very thorough in her instructing psych 1105. Jane gives lectures supported by many videos that are in the exams. Do not plan to miss her class. Jane also gives you a study guide that if you complete and study, you will do well. @)>~%~~a rose for Jane. Keep it up!
Very Good professor, rates as what you get. So study and you will pass.
Jane does a great job. Do the work. Grades are Earned not given
This class is super easy, just show up and do your work and you will pass with flying colors. She basically spoon feeds you your grade.
She's a great professor clearly states everything you need to know just take notes and do your readings and make sure to encode everything she will put you to the test. She's great!
The teaching style used in this class makes it extremely easy to learn if you pay attention during lectures
She didn’t make a great first impression she doesn't like electronics at all, but trust me it’s for a reason. Now with that said she is one of the GREATES teachers I’ve had. Yes she is serious and doesn’t like to share to much personal stuff but she is a good teacher and really knowledgeable. Ofcouse you have to work at it not easy but interesting.
Jane does not like electronics. Grades are earned, her tests can be easy if you study the books, hand outs, and take notes during lectures. Not an easy class, you do have to put in the effort.
Good teacher. Soft personality but teaches well. You must be willing to read out of the text book to do well on test, even tho she does not specifically tell you to look at the text. Recommended.
Tests are based on study guides she gives. Jane HATES electronics, bathroom breaks, and food in class. She will politely tell you to put it away or handle bathroom breaks before or after class. Her lectures are small parts of what you need to read in the book, and she doesn't seem to know how to deviate from her slides if someone asks a question.
Her attitude can be dry and annoying at times, but as long as you don't do anything bad she will not give you any trouble. Her exams are multiple choice and the questions are all from the study guide. Her lectures sometimes don't have a lot to do with dev. psych. which means that without outside help you will learn almost no dev. psych.
Bardal is VERY monotone and dry. She doesn't do electronics (as in she'll snap at someone that is texting or some such) and she doesn't like it when the students move around. I found the actual class to be an easy subject, but the way it was presented was... A little disorganized and hard to follow.
Typical lecture class - power points. Just copy the power points and study those for quizzes and tests. Wants discussions but the class rarely participated. I like her as a person but it was a boring class - also it was the only class I didn't get an A - mostly because she takes points off for attendance!!!!!!
Professor Bardal is a clear, intelligent teacher and a nice woman. Her class is very structured, usually a lecture and then a video or handout, but the workload is light and the topics are presented clearly. She knows her stuff. She will meet during office hours to help you with essays and whatnot. Would take her again.
I'm not really sure if she knows how to teach in a way that is not too vague for understanding. This teacher really did not seem interested in her students one bit. It would be nice to receive actual clarity when asked for it, instead of another jumble of words to increase confusion. Take another teacher if you can
She give pop quiz's but not graded. Expects you to read assignment and be prepared. She talks the whole class time with power points. This is in All of her classes.
Took Jane for spring 2015 she's a good instructor but I really gave a lot of effort and spent a lot of time on this class to pass. Her tests are tough but if you study hard you'll pass. If you want an A on the two essays she assigns go to office hours.
jane is a good instructor who has a teaching style that is participation heavy. if you interact you will learn. she actually cares about you coming out of the class with actual knowledge of psychology. you must work hard to pass. gotta pay attention to her lectures.
This class is your typical lecture class. Power points that she posts on CNM learn are not complete so must show up to class. The information that she is teaching is interesting but without the proper relay of information it was very boring. Test are hard so must do a lot of studying. Would not take this teacher again.
I informed Dr. Bardal that I was going on a trip to Japan and I would miss an exam and some of her classes. She said in the class room that was fine and she would count the final as the missed exam. I missed 3 classes. She then dropped me from her class after I had asked and clarified if me leaving would be alright with her. Obvioulsy, it was not!
I took her 2015 Fall, she gives out homework and a study guide that looks exactly like the test except a different problem. Just pay attention, ask questions when needed and go to class and do a really good note card so you will pass. Her class is not that hard but u do have to work and this is coming from a lazy person. I can do it, you can too.
Prof. Bardal is a very soft spoken teacher so you will have to pay close attention. She gives quizzes but not for a grade KEEP THESE they will be helpful on tests. She gives you options for the final paper and there was no homework but that. Very cut and paste you will get used to how things work.
I really like Dr. Bardal and would take her again. The class is very clear and the tests contain exactly what's in the study guide. She's tough and doesn't give wiggle room, but if you like psych and show up for class you'll do fine.
Dr. Bardal is very knowledgeable in her field, and she's funny. I truly enjoyed her class. She gives you study guides and practice quizzes. Her class is very straight forward, but not easy. Study and show up for lecture and you'll do fine.
She typically reads everything off the PowerPoints in a monotone voice. A pretty mediocre teacher who lectures a lot. Her study guides are not very helpful for tests, and the tests often contain questions that are only found in the textbook, which is not otherwise required. Get ready to work extra hard if you choose her as a professor.
I really didn't like Jane at first, but as the class went on she really isn't bad. She has a lot of group discussions which I didn't like, but her class is really easy. The homework and quizzes are the best way to study for her tests. Quizzes aren't graded they're just a tool to help study with.
I was apprehensive about taking her class, but to my surprise I actually ended up liking it. Ms. Bardal's not an especially cordial person, but if you don't mind lecture/powerpoint-based classes then her health psych class isn't all that bad. I thought the content was interesting, and found the two books she had us read for class intriguing.
She will make you work for your grade. Also very understanding about situations. Always pay attention and take notes.
The book is available online. She gave us the information for the final project 2 weeks before it was due. She pushes her views onto the class. Pretty easy course overall. She does not give exams back, she makes you give them back after looking at them. When she relayed the material to medical, she had no clue what she was talking about.
I've taken two classes with her, at first I didn't really like her but she is definitely one of the best teachers I've had. She's straight forward with what she requires, doesn't surprise you with assignments or tests and is clear with class requirements. Reading not really required, if it is on the test, it's talked about in class.
Professor Bardal is very sweet but her lectures are kind of dry. Sometimes it is hard to understand what she is asking you but her class is overall pretty easy.
Very quiet. Very monotone. All PowerPoint lectures. No interaction. Boring.
Very dry but easy. She know's it's easy so she makes attendance a participation grade. Do the handouts she gives and show up, you'll be fine. I made the mistake of not doing either.
Dr. Bardal's class is very easy. The lecture is very repetitive and is in line with the textbook, so getting an A is very easy if you simply study and recall.
Shes good and as long as you study you can get an A
The class is set up pretty straight forward. There is 4 tests, a writing assignment, and attendance points. Studying for her tests were a little hard because no study sheets are given, you just have to rely on notes from lectures and the chapters in the textbook. If you can retain the information well, it should be an easy class to pass.
Great!!! lecturer. Accurately represents topics completely without personal agenda. Uses class time wisely, very straight forward about what is required from the beginning. Sticks to syllabus well and keeps stronger personalities from monopolizing class discussion. Quizzes provide feedback, exams more in depth but mostly covered by lecture. Amazing
For this class you mainly have to teach yourself the material from the textbook and lectures include a few videos and studies. Would not recommend this class if you want really learn about social psychology.
Definately will be taking other classes with her. I appreciate the enviorment she creates which is suitable for people who really want to learn. She expects students to be prepared for class and ready to participate. She also doesn't allow people to monopolize the conversation and gives everyone a fair chance to answer and ask questions.
Do yourself a favor and do not take this class. Ms. Bardal lectures every single day in a very monotone voice. Its a tough class to do well on tests in because shes inconsistent. Often times test Qs were on topics never discussed in class or via textbook. Shes not understanding if youre sick. This instructor doesnt enjoy her job.
Her class is only based on grades from 5 exams, one paper, and attendance. The material was relatively normal, but there are is lots of reading. It wasn't a bad class, but if you aren't a good test taker don't take it. She's a really nice lady, but don't skip because of attendance can really screw your grade :)
Overall, she is a good professor though I taught myself a lot of the material. She will excessively focus on other topics, and leave out others. She gives practice quizzes before exams, and attendance is really important. She will make easy exams and then really hard and oddly specific exams, so just study all the material she gives + the textbook.
Janes class is easy to pass if you listen and study. She lets you use 3by5 note cards on every exam including final and is extremely good and explaining criteria. She uses PowerPoint lectures which sure incredibly helpful and doesn't blonde side your on questions floor exam because the PowerPoints are very clear.
It is a powerpoint based class that she uploads onto BlackBoard, but the slides are a mere outline for what she will teach. She is a bit mono-toned and the class sticks to a schedule. **All you need to do it study for the exams (and you are allowed a notecard)**
Dr. Bardal's class is really easy. Just do the readings (minimal), pay attention/take notes in class, and do a bit of studying, and you should have no trouble. She is very soft spoken, but her lectures are pretty straightforward. I do wish she'd not push her views so much, and I didn't much care for the group work, but she is a nice lady.
Jane Bardal was very test focused. Her lectures were heavily driven by videos. She was controlling in how she felt the students should learn. 4 tests and a final with one paper was what we were graded on.
I'm pretty sure I didn't do any studying for this class (Health Psychology) and got a high 90. A lot of the information is simple, and the rest of it is covered in other psychology courses. The instructor is calm but doesn't offer much guidance sometimes. Even with lots of videos, it was kind of boring. I fell asleep in class quite a bit.
She was very nice, her lectures were very dry and information-heavy. had to show up to class, but was not the worst thing. I think she really cares about the subject but there were times when I almost fell asleep in class. I took two different types of psyc with her. She's okay. right in the middle.
She was very nice, her lectures were very dry and information-heavy. had to show up to class, but was not the worst thing. I think she really cares about the subject but there were times when I almost fell asleep in class. I took two different types of psyc with her. She's okay. right in the middle. This class was a little more interesting.
As long as you study your notes and quiz yourself on the topics she discusses, you will do fine in the exams. She drops the lowest grade out of the exams you take and gives extra credit assignments as well.
Exams and quizzes are very hard and there is no way you can pass the class.
Class is very test heavy, the PowerPoints are clear and contain links to videos you must watch. Okay class overall. She's nice, average class.
This class was interesting but unfortunately she taught us concepts that have been empirically shown to be untrue. She also takes a very strange hard line attitude toward students but makes a lot of errors herself. Having spent my own money to take this class is disappointing.
She is a nice person overall, pretty monotone in her teaching as well as super dry and boring power points. I really love Psych and I would say I still leave class everyday interested in something I learned. The most frustrating part about her classes (I'm taking her for two) is that nothing she tells you to study is on the exams/quizzes.
Dr. Bardal was a great professor for social psych! Dont pay attention to the negative reviews! I feel like I really understand the area of social psych better. Yes, there are exams and quizzes, but as long as you study the chapters, powerpoints, and re-watch videos, you will be fine. She offers e.c. Go to her online office hours, if you get stuck.
Professor Brardal was overall good at teaching psychology. Responds to emails within 24 hours or less. No physical textbook (digital) in PDF form. PowerPoints are great, but the lecture part is boring due to reading the PowerPoint word by word slowly with awkward pauses, but gives examples to discuss in groups. Gives extra credit.
