Worst teacher I've ever had! She doesn't care about your grade or helping you at all. She's very boring and half the time the class was correcting her!
She is a very easy teacher because the homework assignments are not graded. She is very boring though, and half the time our class is correcting her mistakes. Her labs are very easy, and her tests are pretty easy, as long as you study. She just isn't a very good teacher.

I had her for MAT 113 last semester and I liked it. It was really easy and kind of boring. We did have to correct her mistakes sometimes but she's very nice. She is very willing to help you just have to ask.
She was very monotone. A friend and I counted how many times she said "like," "um," "ok, so," and "alright" and the tally easily reached 30 each class period...you can tell how boring this class was. The labs did not help much, she taught fast, was not engaging, made mistakes we corrected, just a bad class.
LET ME JUST SAY THIS!!! JANE CLER SHOULD NOT BE A TEACHER! The material is not that hard but how she explains it is terrible.... she tries to use wayy to big of words to explain simple concepts just to make herself sound smarter!Boring tone of voice & the most annoying part ofall..she only makes acceptions for athletes!& IRREGARDLESS IS NOT A WORD!
The concepts of the class were easy put she could not teach them. She over complicated everything, making everything really confusing. Half the time the class would correct her on her mistakes. The labs did not help either. the TA was awful and you couldn't understand anything he was saying.
WORST math teacher I have EVER had!!! Had a high B going into the final and it dropped to a LOW C!! She is sooo dumb - to put it simply! She has a million typos on her slideshows and they NEVER make sense. She doesn't know what she's talking about. Should NOT be a math teacher, only take her if you're an athlete that way you get excused from class.
terrible, terrible, terrible. the course material was easy for the most part, except toward the end when it got harder. regardless, she s*cked at teaching and made soo many errors in all of her slideshows and stuff she said i was embarrassed FOR her sometimes. TA was useless, he didn't know anything either. horrible, horrible, horrible.
She is a good teacher and as long as you attend class and stay on top of the work, you'll be fine. She is willing to meet with students to help them understand material. Has a lot of class points other than exams, so it is very possible for everyone to get a good grade.
Cler is good professor in terms of teaching you what you need to learn. However, she speaks in a monotone and for the most part seems unapproachable. The class was painfully easy and pretty much all the work is done online. Attendance is not mandatory for class, but go to lab.
I got a B in this class but didn't learn anything. The teacher has a comprehensive final that is impossible due to her lack of teaching ability. NEVER TAKE A CLASS WITH HER! EVER! She talks to her students like children.
Worst math teacher I have ever been in the class with. If you want to get your hopes up going into the final then take this class. This teacher is terrible and monotone. She makes tons of mistakes and at some points I feel she doesn't know what she is talking about. WORST CLASS EVER. I had to force myself to go to class everyday.
She is perhaps the most boring lady I've ever met. So monotone and seems completely uninterested in the subject. I hated math before this class and hate it even more now. Good thing is she drops lots of scores and has EC for class attendance with clickers, so go to class.
She knows what she's talking about when it comes to math, but really doesn't know how to teach it. She does nothing to keep students engaged and when you go for help she just explains it in the exact same way.
Knows what she is talking about but not very personable. Goes through the motions and is very dry. Extra credit for attendance and homework brought me up a whole letter grade at the end of the semester so make sure you go to class and do your work.
She was completely useless. Half of the questions on the homework and tests were things that she never talked about in class. Took way too long to finish the homework. Find someone else to take this class with, it's not worth it.
Cler is possibly the most incompetent math professor I've ever had. On almost every quiz, test, and even on the final she makes errors in either the question or possible answers. She is totally unapproachable and is never willing to help or even answer questions in class. Don't even bother asking questions; she will make you sound like an idiot.
Cler is the most uninteresting and monotone professor/teacher I've ever had. MAT 113 was harder than I thought it would be because of her. The only positive is that she gives a lot of extra credit for coming to class.

math 113: yes her lectures can get kinda boring, but shes very nice and approachable. she gives very good notes and always explains what she is doing. she is open to answering questions and never makes you feel stupid. overall i think she is a very good and fair teacher.
She doesn't even know her own subject. I remember 2 years ago when I first took the course and she asked, "If the average person lives to be 80, how many seconds are they alive?" Anybody who wanted to speed through would've answered 1,892,160,000. Those of us who remembered leap years (not her) we knew the answer was 25,246,080,000. Know your math
She's nice. Gives very good note outlines that you print out at home. The quizzes are pretty difficult. The tests are even harder. Study. You CAN get a good grade in this class if you put in the effort. you MUST go to lab. it will matter in the end. Try to find someone else to teach you this.. this class is more difficult than it should be..
Jane actually teaches the material so well that anyone can understand. Nonetheless, this class isn't easy. You honestly have to work to get an A or a B because the tests and quizzes are pretty hard. STUDY!!! Otherwise you'll fail. You also need to go to lab since they're worth a lot of points. It's really not too bad as long as you go to class.
DO NOT take her class. I heard the class was an easy A but its not you have to study. If you have to take her go to class because i thought it was easy A so i skipped probably half of her classes but studied for test and ended up with a D+. Overall a bad teacher and her classes are very boring.
Boring, boring, boring. I wanted to be a math major, but this class deterred me from that. Not a great teacher, and doesn't seem to like teaching, but that could just be her style. Don't recommend her at all.
She is TERRIBLE!!! I dont know if its all MAT113 classes but the homework is legit 10X harder then what she teaches you. You think you have great notes cause you took everything down that she wrote, but then the HW is always hard anyways. She is so monotone but still manages to treat the class like we are 1st graders by repeating things 20 times
Nice, but has no idea what shes doing most of the time. Not really helpful either. This class is way harder and more frustrating than it should be.
Exams and homework are way too difficult for a 113 class. She's not very friendly and her monotone lectures don't really help you prepare for homework or her near impossible quizzes and exams.
She knows the curriculum. The in class work is easy but the homework is difficult in later chapters. Attendance isn't mandatory but there are daily participation points. The tests and quizzes are short and difficult. Buy the online book, not the real one. Sign up for tutoring with the Visor Center.
Very hard class! I would not recommend to take because she wasn't very helpful. She went through the notes very fast and never once asked if we had any questions after she was done going through the notes. Test/quizzes are hard. She takes her time responding to emails.
Terrible teacher. I had her spring of 13 she rushes through notes gives tons of online assignments and her test are impossible. I started the class with 28 students at least half dropped including me. AVOID AT ALL COST
Good teacher, gives notes in class on the board so it's easy to follow, and she has extra help on certain class days. Online homework is a little tough, I went to math help at some points. Her tests are all based on notes in class and she uses clicker points. GO TO CLASS.-> it will be easy if you do!
So. Boring. She is very monotonous and repeats everything a thousand times. It's a basic class for teachers about the fundamentals of math but we know how to find x. Her notes prepare you for the homework and tests like halfway. She uses clicker points so go to class. I have this at 8 am and unfortunately have missed some class. Not good.
She rushes through the notes and when people have questions she gets angry when she has to stop doing the notes and answer a simple question. The notes you take in class don't help you with the online homework and half the time the online homework doesn't even take the right answer and it doesn't show you how to do the problem if you get it wrong.
Dry, impersonal, rude. Avoid at all costs, especially 8 ams.
Professor Cler is really great. Attendance is not for points but you need to show up to get a good grade! I am HORRBILE at math, never understood it, but she explained every problem very clearly and thoroughly. No other professor could have taught me math so well... seriously.
Jane is an interesting professor. She makes simple lessons more difficult than they need to be. Also she does clicker questions, make sure yours is working because mine would not load and she gave me a 0/20 and would not let me make them up even though I have never missed her class. Overall she is an average math teacher.
BEWARE! I am not a fan of her. She makes you do online homework that is extremely difficult. The tests are short but a little difficult. She has clicker questions everyday so you have to go to class. She makes you do 2 group projects that are just a pain. She speaks so monotone it's almost impossible not to fall asleep in her class.

HW is all online, takes forever and is much harder than class material. Very responsive and helpful in emails. Monotone, but who isn't at 8 am? She taught me math well enough for a B. Lots of help on tests (formula sheets etc). Group projects are draining, there are 2 due within 1-2 weeks of each other. Overall good math class, hard to make fun.
Lectures are pretty monotone and boring, but she explains everything well. Makes a few mistakes, so have to really pay attention. Homework is way harder than tests, go to lab instructor for help, not her. Does not drop tests. Seems to really care about students. Class usually goes on the full 50 minutes and she's pretty monotone, especially at 8am
She will be done going through the problem before you get a chance to write part of the problem down. Gives one pointless group project, gives a test the Friday before finals week, and complains that there isn't time. She also does basic examples and then in the homework the problems are much harder and more complicated then you learn in class.
Professor Cler is monotone at 8am, seems like a nice person. As a professor she is a bit confusing and her examples are much simpler than the online homework. This year there were no clicker questions. I personally do not attend the class since I understand the class better from the book online. Going to lab is more helpful.
Professor Cler is a monotone, careless lecturer that makes more mistakes than any math teacher should make at any level. She speeds through notes and the examples in class are infinitely easier than homework. She is a cruel grader and I'm not convinced she has any actual emotion. I would not recommend taking her sections of any class offered.
I did not like her. She went to fast and gave a lot of word problems and only gave us a few second to write it down before she was explaining the problem and moving on. I am not a fast pace learner so I was confused for most of the class. There is one big group project that is very wasteful of time. Also, took a point off for not stapling something
Do not take Math with this professor. She is very hard and tests impossible (they are nothing like the study guides she gives you). Very boring class. Probably worst teacher I have had ever.
Monotone. Overall, class is easy. Get help from your the GA's and you should be fine. Complete online homework as well, and go to class !
The only good thing about Jane Cler is once I was sick and she let me reschedule a test. Best advice I can give is to get a physical copy of the book, it helped me more than she ever did. Go to lab, your GA will be a lot of help. I didnt attend lecture because Jane is monotone, rushes thru examples, and makes mistakes that confuse everyone.
Jane Cler has the most annoying, monotone voice and it is unbearable. She spends 6 years talking about the same topic. The class was easy if you just stay on top of things, but there are some topics she does not teach and you have to google for the tests and homework.
I don't get why Professor Cler has so many bad reviews on here. She does her job well and makes things easy to understand. Just do the homework and study for tests and quizzes and you can easily get an A. Exams are multiple choice and worth a large amount of points each, so if you miss 2 you usually automatically get a B, but that's the only thing!
Jane Cler, is by far the worst math professor I've ever had. She has an attitude about her that is very unprofessional, and it seems like she is disinterested in your learning. If you ask her to slow down she gets annoyed, and her tests make you feel completely incompetent and stupid. AVOID HER AT ALL COSTS, and if you have her, sorry for your luck
If you miss a class you fall behind quick, she does go through things kind of fast but if you attend class you should easily do good in the class. She assigns online homework that isn't hard if you take notes in class and you get 5 tries on each question.
This is the worst class I've ever taken at ISU. Do NOT ruin your GPA for this class. Extremely difficult, test heavy, lecture heavy, lots of homework, prepare to teach yourself the material, the tests make you feel dumb. Do well on the ALEC and take MATH 119 instead.
Professor Cler is a horrible professor! She has so much attitude and if you ask her a question she treats you like you are incompetent. I would complete the study guides and review for tests and still would get a C. I find it interesting because I took MAT119 and got an A and I ended with a C in this class.
Not very good. Although she teaches the needed material she seems very unattached to the class. Class is very boring and she is monotone. Doesn't seem to care about students individually as much as some of my other professors though. Very unapproachable
Jane Cler is the my least favorite professor I have ever had at ISU. During the pandemic, her expectations of her students have been unrealistic. She has no sympathy or regard for students personal lives/struggles. Normally, she lectures well and is clear in her expectations for you. She drops low scores. Go to class or you won't pass this course.
Just not a good teacher. Very monotone, not very engaging. Lecture is not usually representative of homework, quizzes and tests. Some days attendance is counted for points. Not willing to schedule appointments with students outside of her open office hours. You're better off with a different teacher.

There is a mandatory drop date for the class that occurs before the due date for the first assignment. If you dont log on before the due date, she will withdraw you from the class whether you want to complete it or not. This fact is communicated beforehand, but is not emphasized nearly enough. Ridiculous and unnecessary policy.
I personally did not like this class or this professor. There wasn't to much homework but enough where you needed to work on it everyday. I was asynchronous and she did lecture videos which there were a lot of. Tests were fairly difficult, no extra credit. I do not recommend.

She makes all that money and doesn't even teach a class that students paid thousands of dollars for. She does not give anyone enough time to complete exams or review. she gave our entire class an hour to complete an exam and when we all failed due to timing concerns, she basically told us to deal with it. Please beware of this professor, she really doesnt care about anyones opinion other than her own, ESPECIALLY with exams
This homework and the labs are way harder than the homework. She acts like youre stupid when you ask questions, she flies through the material in class/ if you ask her for an example. She doesnt give you enough time on labs or quizzes, so you feel super rushed to get everything done.
I didn't have any problem with Cler. She provides all material needed to pass. You just have to put your time into thee class. The tests are just like the homework and labs. If you go to class, ask questions, and go to office hours or get a tutor you will be fine!
Failed the midterm after getting 100% on basically all of the homework. When I emailed her to ask to talk about what went wrong, her only suggestion was "Try harder." No other help was offered.
Jane Cler is the worst professor I've had the misfortune of having. She absolutely hates her job, and it reflects in her poor teaching style. The course is entirely lecture based, and the only grades are through tough, rushed exams and weekly quizzes. When I emailed her for help she told me to just do better and that I could not possibly improve.
Jane Cler doesn't have any empathy towards her students. I learned a lot of this material from my highschool math class so it has been fairly easy for me. She posts guided lecture notes videos online and gives you all the material you need but doesn't care about her students who are struggling. If math is difficult for you don't take her class.
Jane Cler was not an enjoyable professor to have. She was dry, kind of rude, and the tests often had questions which were never discussed in class or in the textbook. Would not recommend, especially for a non-major.
Worst professor ever!! She doesn't care about her students & helping them succeed in the class. The weekly friday quizzes will kill your grade & is barely related to what is learned in class. The tests are rushed along with the test reviews that are for a grade. Take this class in the summer at your community college, you will be thankful you did.
She had all of the material available online so I could watch the lectures at my own pace, do what feels best for you, in-person or online lectures. There is Homework for each section and a weekly quiz with 4 major exams excluding the final.
All of the lectures are available online so you can easily access material without attending class. I knew a lot of the material from high school so I did fine but if you struggle with math this class may be difficult. She doesn't do an amazing job explaining concepts and is not super welcoming to questions.
Did not answer emails fast, it was often a few days before I would get a response. No phones allowed in class even if you are trying to take a picture of the bored for notes. asked questions she was not helpful and directions were very unclear. I don't believe there was any extra credit offered.

She relies heavily on Aleks so be prepared to learn on your own, the class work is simple gets challenging at the end. Test days are so hard, the tests are on Aleks and there is no multiple choice which makes it so hard, she doesnt allow formulas sheets so you best be prepared to memorize that quadratic formula and all his little formula friends
Teacher has not meet in person once with class. No effort. Sad this university allows her to conduct her classes this way!
Her lectures are extremely boring and hard to get through but you have to be there to get information for the tests. She assigns so much homework and isnt afraid to fail you.
Literally put too quick time restraints on the test and I couldn't complete everything in time and the homework assignments were so confusing and tedious. This is supposed to be a lower level math class and she acts like its a 200+ level major required course.
I really like professor Cler. If you go to class, do the homework, and do your part to make sure you know the material, you will be fine. She explains everything in a lot of detail. The quizzes and tests are based on things you learn in class and nothing is a surprise.
Overall she's not great. Monotone voice and very difficult to get through lectures. She doesn't reply to emails fast, the only time she did was when I scheduled a quiz without her knowledge (only then did she email me fast asf). Attend class and do the homework and you should be fine, but try to find another professor.

MAT 113 was honestly not too hard. There was quite a bit of homework, but it wasn't unmanageable. Professor Cler's lectures are overall pretty clear, and the tests aren't too hard if you study.
