Jane Dabel rocks!

i learned so much in dabels class but she was soo hard. i really liked her sense of humor and attitude!

The best professor at beach! She uses powerpoint and her assignments and tests are easy. She makes class fun.

she acts tough but its all an act.. shes a good teacher but you have to try hard.. you'll really learn from her...

Dabel is awesome. I highly recommend her. She tells you what she expects from you and helps you in any way possible. She will really go out on a limb for you. She also has a great sense of humor. One last thing, she is very efficient, so if the class doesn't HAVE to meet, it doesn't!

The best teacher I have ever had. I would have never survived college without having Professor Dabel as my first college professor and mentor.

Dabel is the best. She asks a lot, but is totally down to help you out. I've taken 2 classes from her and I'd take another if I could. Highly recommend her for 301, too. Topic- race. She's funny, smart and just a kick in the pants. Best teacher at CSULB by far.

Best professor on campus. Hot and smart. Out of all the history courses I have taken through out my college career, this is by far the most interesting class I have had. Highly recommended for 301.

Awesome, Awesome professor. She's young, energetic, and super understanding. You buy PP presentation notes and fill in missing words. She assigned us film & cemetary projects. Follow instructions to get full credit.Also assigns one short paper. You work a little but learn a lot and possibly get an A

Dr. Dabel is my idol. She is not only hot (and I'm a girl) she is so smart, funny, down to earth and she loves the Simpsons. What more can you ask for?

she's is the best. a lot of work, don't kid yourself, but she is always willing to help you. do the work show up in class. she's a cool person. she'll remember you for years and always be there to help. i always tell people to take her 301 class.

I love Jane. She's the best prof here, and this is after getting my BA and now my MA at Long Beach. She induced great class discussion, made us work hard, but she taught us alot. She told us how difficult and confusing her graudate teachers were at UCLA and she wanted us to learn how to do history not just stumble and fall. And she is just fun.

Great Teacher-Can not say enough about her. She is extremely knowledgeable and will go above and beyond to make sure that you are successful if you take her class seriously.

Dr. Dabel is as clear a professor as you're ever going to have. The class is very task heavy, but she guides you through every step. If you miss a beat she's very understanding, but don't push it. It takes serious effort to not understand what is required of you.

She is kind of hard and her exams are difficult, but if you show effort and do a good job then your grade will be fine.

Dabel is very straight forward & posts grades for assignments right away, which is very motivating to keep up on all of the "dumb little" assignments that pop up over the first portion of the course. She doesn't ask for any more than what she puts into the class herself, and she is extremely willing to help find sources if you ask for help!

I think Dabel is one of the best professors I have ever had. She made a very difficult class fun, interesting and she was always there to answer questions and help with assignments. If you are a history major and have to take 301, this is the professor to take.

Dabel was an excellent professor. She was clear, precise, and accurate with every assignment. Her online quizzes are hard, but you can do them as groups at your own convenience. Very fair grading system. There is alot of work to do in her class, I must admit. But she makes the class interesting and exciting.

She is a good teacher. You have to cover a lot of information in her class, but she prepares you well. Be prepared to do a lot of work though!!!

Simply the best in the field. TAKE HER FOR YOUR HIST REQ! I took her for the summer session, there's a fair amount of work. It looks like a ton of work on the syllabus, but it's not *too* much. She's very helpful, gets straight to the point, no BS, you know what to do to pass the class. You need to show up every day, but lectures are never boring.

I took her summer class too. I wasn't excited about taking this class, but after meeting her I loved it. She explains everything clearly from Day 1. There's a lot of reading but if I could do it over the summer I'm sure it's not too bad during a semester. Online quizzes are tough, really gotta read. But her personality is great, and she's funny!

Very good professor... I liked history even more since I took her class due to her teachings.. Very funny, talks like she is one of us, but still strict.. A lot of reading to do, but might be easier during the regular semesters.. I took it during summer.. I highly recommend taking her for the Hist. Req.

I had little to no interest in the subject but needed the class. But now- this class has been my favorite - EVER. Dabel hooked my from the very first day. She is available when you need her; assignments are crystal clear; she expects your best effort, nothing more. Her classes were a joy to attend. I look forward to taking more classes with her. She is my idol.

She is Amazing! best part about her is she talks and explains things just like a student so u can relate. she relates so much that she calls ur b.s. and demands the best work from u and u feel like u don't want to let her down. class is fairly easy but requires a good amount of effort. Two test and two big papers kinda difficult but GREAT CLASS

She was hands down the best professor that I have ever had. Anything you can take with her I highly recommend that you do. she expects the work to be done and she knows peoples potential. she keeps the class super interesting and makes you actually want to show up. TAKE HER!!!

BEST professor EVER!! I took her summer session class and it was great. Dabel is clear, helpful, smart, funny and fair. She expects you to do the work that is asked without any BS. The online quizzes are supposedly the hardest part of her class but if you read and outline what you've read, you should be fine. I HIGHLY recommend her to everyone. :O)

I took professor dabel for the summer session and she was great. Alot of reading for the quizzes, but we did about 200 years of history in 6 weeks. Take her, she is funny and quick!!!

Cannot believe how well this class was. One of the Best 301 teachers hands down. Want to get a good start on you History major take 301 with her because she is incredibly helpfull, actually goes over what you need and the class is set up where you actually start writing your research paper a full 3 WEEKS early which will be the biggest advantage!

Amazing. The best the history department has to offer.

She helped me through many panic attacks during this semester, and made the hybrid class tolerable. I would not take this class again, but I would take another with her as a teacher.

She is a Civil War junkie. Excellent professor, smart and funny. She is always willing to help you, look at drafts, answer questions. She goes the extra mile to help your writing.

LOVE THIS TEACHER!!! The class i took was a hybrid class which REALLY sucked. but this teacher is awesome!! she is interesting, funny, and extremely helpful! Class structure was alot different because it was hybrid so she tried to make the best of it. TAKE HER.

This teacher is GREAT! She is very passionate about what she is teaching her students. She really cares about her students and her main purpose is for us to learn. Although i got a C, i still enjoyed this class. Do not underestimate the weekly online quizzes that was my mistake.

Amazing teacher. History has never been so much fun. She's the best, but she is a hard grader when it comes to the midterm and final essays. Especially the final essay. Online quizzes were the hardest. Not easy to get an A, but it sure is possible if you attend class. Don't underestimate her.

she is AMAZING! she knows how to speak to her audience and how to get things done. you need to work ultra hard for your A, but it's all good. there is a lot of work, but the grading is consistent and with her lectures, it's not a problem. weekly quizzes are irritating, but easy. and midterm and final are easy since she helps you prep for them.

Prof. Dabel is a great! I took the summer class and although it was tough, I didn't feel too overwhelmed. There were 8 quizzes, 6 in-class assessments, 1 project, and a final paper. The point system made perfect sense and was easy to keep track of your progress. She is fast at responding to your emails if you send at a reasonable time. TAKE HER!!!!

OMG, PROF. DABEL IS THE BEST TEACHER EVER! i learned so much and i would take her again. i am someone that would take classes that are easy A's but cuz i learned so much and had so much fun, im taking her again fosho=]! i took her over the summer, and if i got a B. TAKE HER! and she tried to convert me to history as a major too, hahaha=]i love her

Dabel is an excellent 301 professor. I haven't taken the others, but I do not hesitate in saying she's probably the best. I came into this class with no interest whatsoever, and she's taught me more about the craft of history than any professor I've had or book I've read so far. I highly suggest taking 301 with her. Also, cupcakes.

TAKE HER! She is a very interesting History junkie. She even got me interested in a couple of things discussed in class. She teaches History like NO Other in my years of school where I HAD to take History. Definitely WOULD take her again. Just don't take her during the Winter Session if you don't like working your head off because its NOT Easy.

Best history Professor ever!!! All history majors know that 499 is the big one. However, she helps guide you through it if you go to her for help. The ones who got good grades were the ones who went to her office hours. She will direct you where to go for sources and what you need to improve on. all you have to do is ask.

Overall, she is a good smart professor. However, her teaching style is meant for children. Despite reaching this far academically, she strives to change how you take notes by forcing you into her own style. Taking notes on a little PowerPoint booklet feels like high school to me. Also, no laptops? My learning style consists using computer 4 notes

If you don't take her you will regret it for the rest of your life! She's brilliant, helpful, motivating, honest, caring & funny. History 301 is a challenge for all history majors, let her guide you and you will move through the rest of your academic career with the skills & knowledge to surpass your goals. Take every class she teaches after that!!

I have never rated a professor on here before even though I've had good teachers in the past, I didn't really care enough to write a review, but Professor Dabel is AMAZING! There is a lot of material to learn but she makes it super easy to understand. She emails back instantly if you have a have a question and is very helpful. Definitely take her!!

More or less weekly quizzes, an in-class historiography midterm, an online annotated bibliography, and a final paper. Basically you have to show up to get more than a C.

I enjoyed this class! Dabel knows her content, is engaging, and provides many sources and data. She cares about this subject and the students. You have to read the textbook to help for the quizzes, essays, and tests, but that is expected either way. She's also encouraging, definitely go to her for any help. Both subject and teacher are awesome.

Dabel is the best teacher to have for history 301. She makes sure you understand the information and what you need to do in order to get an A. She walks you through every step of the way. It's a tough class, but one you'll get a good grade in as long as you put in the work, pay attention, and READ.

She is amazing!!! Normally I hate history but she made it fun and interesting!! I would take her again if I could! Weekly online quizzes but all of the answers are online and you get more than one attempt on them. One paper that she gives you the sources and the thesis. One group project that you work on it class, super easy. Easy A! Great class!

Honestly the best teacher you will ever take. Super easy A. I took her during winter semester and it was the best decision I've ever made. Theres in class assessments (quizzes) but she gives you the answers ahead of time. There are online quizzes and 1 paper that she basically writes for you. TAKE HER!!!

GOOD FEEDBACK, RESPECTED, GET READY TO READ, ACCESSIBLE OUTSIDE CLASS, CLEAR GRADING CRITERIA, AMAZING LECTURES. You have to put in the work to earn the A, but with her clear guidelines and support for any questions you might have passing her class is very doable if you take it seriously. Most supportive Professor at CSULB!

A quiz every week but they are really easy because the study guide is the quiz so have a good brain and memorize them. Really like the way she teach the class. Her power point are awesome! No other ways to express her class.

Dabel is the greatest professor you'll ever have. Her class is lecture heavy but they are so interesting! She really knows how to lecture in a way that makes you want to show up to her 8 am all the time. She's an easy grader, gives good feedback, and her grading is based on weekly (easy) quizzes, a paper and final group project.

Even if youre not a history major, you should take Dabel just so you know what a good professor teaches like. She knows what shes doing and youll leave her class knowing so much more about the topic. She tells you what she expects in each project/ paper and if you follow those guidelines it is easy to get an A. She wants you to succeed.

Prof. Dabel is no doubt my favorite professor at CSULB. She is caring, respectful, and kind. She wants to get to know you and she clearly loves her work. Her classes are amazing and super interesting. She really makes you learn and think and laugh. She is always there in office hours if you need help with class, academics, or life. Take her!!!

Dr. Dabel is a great teacher. She knows how to articulate her lectures and get the students involved. She doesn't take attendance but you need to be there for the notes. Graded on easy weekly quizzes, midterm, one 6-7 page paper, and a final group project, all which are not that difficult. This class piqued my interest in African-American history.

The Dabes is an amazing professor. 301 is a hard class no matter who you take it with, but she just simply doesn't allow you to fall behind.

Professor Dabel is one of the best professors I have ever had. Coming from a community college into the history department was a bit overwhelming, especially with 301 being one of the first classes, but Dabel does everything in her power to make sure her students succeed. She is a very respected member of the department. Take any of her classes!

Took this class during the summer & I'm so glad I did. The content is fun to learn, especially the way Professor Dabel teaches. This class is intense & does require a lot of reading (around 6-8 ch a week and etc), but it goes by fast. There are study guides for all the quizzes, & the final paper is easy if you read. Love this class TAKE IT!!

This course was online, and it was super great! The class was really easy, and watching the lectures are needed to pass, but they have lots of good info if you do. Weekly online quizzes with unlimited attempts and one final paper that she walks you through and makes it really easy!

Dr. Dabel has been the best and easiest Professor I have taken so far. Took African American History the previous semester and she was great! She makes the work so much easier for you and gives you good feedback to start your essays. She is also very accessible outside of class by using slack. If I could I would take her class all over again!

we have quizzes, nearpods, and a final paper. While the course is easy, the quizzes are very hard if you don't read the chapter. the final paper, while fairly time consuming, is graded kinda weird? i was confused on why i lost some of the points and many in the class were too. feedback is not clear but it is a good class especially online.

Dr. Dabel truly cares about her students. Her class is fun and not hard. I love Dr. Dabel! I highly recommend her classes. I took 2! I give her an A++++ She was also my advisor and it is because of her that I graduated on time.

I had this course asynchronous. Assignments were easy, only the final essay was heavy. Assignment instructions were always clear, the quizzes had unlimited attempts, and the assessment answers were all found through her lectures. The professor was very accessible and kind.

LOVE HER. She is a shark, a tough one, a baller, smart as heck. She knows whats up. Scaffold teaching, 2 essays a week --> 10 pg essay with 50 notecards. I found it easy but i like to read a lot. If ur a hist major, take this woman!

If you're a history major take her for 301! Show up to class and ask her any questions you have she knows everything! Great professor, will make funny history jokes that lighten your mood about writing the 10 page paper at the end. You work on the paper throughout the entire semester and she breaks it down so it doesn't feel overwhelming.

Professor Dabel is great at getting every point across to prepare for the final research paper. She makes everything very clear in the outlines and has time for one-on-one meetings about our papers. Every step of the way, she was very helpful and easy to access outside of class.

She is an easy teacher with interesting lectures; plus, she has a clear schedule and criteria for her class. She does not stray from her syllabus and is easy to contact. If you are a history major, she is more than happy to help or give advice to any of her students. The professor is also quite understanding and accommodating.
