there only 4 major papers due on her class, for a writing intensive class thats pretty good; plus you can email your papers to her. she does give quizzes, and you have to do journals on what you've read. other than that she's pretty easy to please.

Ms Focht-Hansen is one the best instructors that I have taken. She's extremely helpful and understanding with her students. She believe's in the quality of work, not quantity. Excellent instructor!

If you are going to attend school full-time,do not take this course. She requires a lot out of her students. In this class you will listen to people talk about thier problems rather than doing the actual work. Take this class at your own risk!

One of the most compassionate and understanding women I've ever met, on top of being intelligent beyond belief and a joy to spend time in class with. Take a class with her to find out what all teachers SHOULD be like.

I was very nervous about taking Comp II three years after taking Comp I. Ms. Focht-Hansen did a great job of explaining everything to me and gave me help when I needed it. On top of that, she's a really nice person with a great sense of humour.

Professor Focht-Hansen is the greatest. I just finished her class for summer 1 05' and she has by far been the best english teacher I have ever had!!! What an awesome professor. Definetly take ths class. Excellent class--one of the best!

I just finished taking her for summer I and she is the best english teacher. I was apprehensive about taking the class because I hadn't had eng. since 1996, but she made the class great. I learned a lot and I enjoyed it.

She was an incredible teacher with such an amazing personality. She made the subject very interesting and fun to learn. I would most definitely take her for another class.

Great teacher, makes the class fun,interesting and easy on top of that. Awesome personality and will do everything to help you achieve an A, of course you have to do something in return and believe me, she doesnt ask for too much.

i took mrs. focht-hansen last semester and she was and is the coolest teacher at sac....anyhow i am now taking her this semester for eng 1302. take her and you wont regret it!

I am taking her this semester, and so far I like the class. It looks like she will make the class very enjoyable.

All I can say is this teacher is EXTREMELY helpful. Went above and beyond for me, and she genuinely cares about her students. I will never forget her.

I love this teacher, she is so awesome. I have never met a better teacher in my life. She makes learning about the 14th century better then watching t.v. Sure we tend to get off subject at certain times, but that's what makes this class so great. She is so down to earth you can talk to her about anything. And she's is more then eager to share her coffee with everyone. All in all i recommend this teacher if you actually want to have a intellectual conversation for onece. Just be sure to speak up! This teacher is SO understanding and helpful. She realizes that stuff happens in life and is willing to work with you. This woman should be appointed to sainthood. I have never encountered a teacher so flexible with her students.

Focht-Hansen is awesome! She is a very helpful teacher and as long as you do the damn work you will have no worries. British Lit. is a reading and writing intensive course though, but do the work and she will always be willing to help you pass.

Take her class!!! I would recomend her to anyone. She is a wonderful teacher that enjoys teaching and actually knows what shes talking about. She is dedicated helping her stundents and spells out her expectations so you will not be left in the dark. The literature she picks is actually interesting and enjoyable.

I liked this professor. She was always willing to help me out if I was struggling with any work. There are lots of (on your own) field trips and then you get to write about it. I've recommended her before.

Ms. Focht-Hanses is a lovely lady who's first priority is for students to learn how valuable is education. She makes super interesting class discussions and she is always willing to help out her students. She helped me improve my writing skills, constantly motivating me. She is a "Jewel of the English department" at SAC, very intelligent woman.

I LOVED this professor! Professor Hansen is an amazingly intelligent and caring woman who treats students as equals. She's not like some of these professors who act like if it rains they'll drown because their nose is so up in the air...she's very down to earth and very fair. Very approachable and easy to talk to.

Miss Hansen is a Wonderful teacher. She's full of knowledge and easy to talk to ,she's always there to help you if you are willing to show some work for her. How much I say about this lady is not enough she's just an amazing teacher.

Excellent teacher......she makes the class so interesting that u will like to take her again.....i got an A in her class......she will help u in any way she can.....gives u extra credit oppourtunities......after taking her class I am able to understand literature very well....I am taking her again in fall for world literature too...awesome teacher

Mrs. Hasen is great! awesome! I don't like english at all. But her lectures is so interesting and wonderful. i love to going to her class. She is helpful and respects everyone. She make the class fun. She is Excellent teacher!! Extremely recommend!

Prof. Focht-Hansen is a hoot! She wakes up the class by telling jokes, and doesn't take anything too seriously. ONLY downside I can think of is her overtly political comments (very liberal in nature) during class discussion. She's always willing to work with you and help you in any way she can.

She is a great teacher. She's funny and really flexible about turning in assignments. ;) She really hates it when you don't read the essays. I would take another class with her in a heartbeat.

Ms Focht-Hansen is a great professor. Very laid-back and works with you. She does insert her political opinions in the lectures often - in fast, I'm surprise there was men in the class afterward. :) Overall, she's great!

She is a very good teacher in her own right. Her style was just not one I was comfortable with. Wants a very active class with a lot of discussion and I never felt comfortable enough to engage in the convo. Probably wouldnt take her again. Her opinions seem too strong to open up to yours.. is very intimidating!

Mrs. Focht-Hansen is a Godsend and a great cook. In her classes I learned some of life's more valuable lessons through and including great pieces of literature. She's easy to get along with so long as you "Do your reading, damnit."

I so enjoyed her class that I waited a year to take comp II just so I could take her again. She encourages and admonishes and cares most of all. She's the best ever, if I weren't already grown I'd want to be her when I grow up!

Mrs. Focht-Hansen is awesome. If I could use one word to describe her, it would be fair. She adjusts the syllabus schedule to where the students don't get overwhelmed with work. There is a lot of reading and writing. She gives a pop quiz at her discretion, so make sure you are reading the stories for that week. Best soph lit teacher. Recommended.

She was so nice and understandable. If you missed class but had a good reason she was cool about accepting your work. there were a lot of assignments but she was really lenient

In a class which had several lazy students who seemed not to care at all, I still learned a lot and enjoyed what I learned. Apparently some people just aren't interested in working hard enough to learn something. In this case, it isn't about the teacher. Take this teacher if you are serious about your education.

I really enjoyed her class. She was very fair and helpful. She went out of her way to try and open doors for students who really want to learn. I felt truly inspired after taking this class. I would reccomend everyone to take a class she teaches. JANE FOCHT-HANSEN ROCKS!

I am 52 years old and this was my first college class since 1983. Professor Focht-Hansen makes you feel welcome. She is fun, has a great sense of humor, she is very knowledgeable, and a wonderful teacher. She is also very helpful and will go out of her way to make sure you understand the assignments. Be prepared to read and write.

Mr.Jane is great teacher, extremely helpful, DO YOUR READINGS, at least read review from spark notes or something. DO YOUR HOMEWORK which is not a lot. She is EXTREMELY HELPFUL, she is funny, excellent lady.I am an average of a C or B student on essays, I have actually gotten A's, I could not believe it. If you TRY you will pass!!

She is awsome. Do your work and you will be fine. She is one of the rare teachers who cares about her students and is human. Anything that has been written about her that is bad is untrue. These are people who dont do anything and still want to get an A. I would take her again in an instant.

She is great if you give her a chance and just try out the stuff you're asked to do... you'll learn that you like things you never knew you did before!

4~5 papers (700+ words) are required in this class alongside with reading short stories and poems from the book and occasionally answering questions concerning those works. Teachers encourages in-class discussion concerning the reading and if the discussions go well, may cut some slack as far as homework goes. Treats everyone with respect.

BEST TECHER I'VE HAD IN COLLEGE!! Really works for those jalapenos. Ha! Willing to work with you if you need help or an extension. Just communicate with her. Grading gets harder in the semester, but she's crystal clear about what she wants. There's no guessing! She even gives handouts w/ examples of what she's looking for. LOVE HER!!

She was very good. I didnt like the required writing lab attendance, but it did help a little. And she works with you if you cant make a deadline for some reason.I would definitly take her again. This class was easy, just show up and participate

i love her, shes so sweet and she likes to be able to talk and have conversation in class. she makes class go by fast because she makes things interesting. would definitely take her again.

extremely helpful & charismatic. somewhat of a liberal femenist, but that just makes class more interesting. enjoys class feedback & conversations. DO the papers and work. GO TO THE WRITING CENTER. oh...and she likes to use the word damn, a lot. easy to talk to & very nice. learned a lot in her class. one of my favorite teachers so far.

READINGS ARE A MUST! You will have quizzes on readings. You will not do well if you do not read. She is very clear on what she requires for the essays. Class participation is REQUIRED! She is extremely knowledgeable and passionate about her teachings. Very interesting class discussions. But I can't say it enough READ YOUR ASSIGNMENTS!

Mrs. Focht-Hansen is very insightfulon a variety of topics, she engages her students in the reading assignments. She expects students to do their daily reading and make an effort to do the writing assignments academically well MLA format etc. I learned much more than I expected and enjoyed the readings and her as our teacher very much. She is a great teacher. Gave us two extensions for paper. Gave us final ahead of time to work on. You show up you will pass just do you work. Take her for a English she is awesome!!!!!

First off, she's extremely liberal and let's you know her views in pretty much every lecture about the readings. Which i wish she could just lecture solely on the stories instead of adding side crazy comments. Aside from that, I did learn alot from this course. I would recommend here but she's not my absolute favorite.

She is awesome. Do your readings and work hard. If you feel like you are slipping behind just talk to her. She will work with you. I had to miss a month of class due to a broken ankle and she worked with me. Class attendance is a must. Pop quizzes at times and always ask for help when needed, she is there ALWAYS!!!

Focht is a great teach!!! she does tend to get off on her topics sometimes thats because my class is full of a bunch of 3 year olds who talk about pointless stuff all day and will not hush. Focht is awsome though.

Mrs. Focht-Hansen is not only a great teahcer, but you really do learn a lot in her class. Definitely emphasizes on MLA documentation. Can get off topic at times, but nonetheless gets back to what is being done. Read, read, read and do all the assignments. Easy A.

She is an amazing teacher. If you do your reading and assignments she will help you to no end. She tries to help out students as much as she can even prints off stories you need if you don't have a book. Learn lots of interesting random facts during her class as well, I was never bored. Plus when she reads to you in class, nothing is more soothing.

She is very knowledgeable in many areas, esp. regarding literature. You will develop a good appreciation for reading - necessary for you to be good writer, which is what you need to succeed in college. READ ALL assignments BEFORE hand. I will be taking more classes from in the future. If you do the work, you will get an A

Literally the coolest teacher ever<3 I couldn't stand English before but she makes it so interesting & actually relevant to life. She's not a hard grader at all; just make sure you use quotes from the readings & you got n easy A! Also very understanding about people's personal lives & will work with you -- even listen to our problems haha

Great professor, but you have to be on top of your game as far as grammar, MLA style, and essay format. She is demanding, but the course is well-paced and you have plenty of time to complete the assignments. Do not expect an easy "A" and don't procrastinate. She has her preferred style (which you will learn) and you must stick to it to pass.

Good professor. I learned a lot and she makes the class fun. Attend class and turn in your assignments. You cannot turn anything late!!! I didn't turn in my final paper and got an B. I would take her again.

She's incredible!!! So fun and her lectures are great. The material she assigns is thought provoking and easy to get into. Big tip, though? DO THE READINGS. She doesn't assign them for nothing, and she expects you to read them, it's not that bad, promise. Other than that, she's really laid back. Plus, who wouldn't want a professor with blue hair?

She is well informed. Open to questions. Open to discussion. Not tolerant of students that play on their phone in class. Patient with that one annoying student (you know who it is) however she maintains professionalism when addressing a misbehaved student. Overall, good co tent, professional, good teaching, only requires cheap textbooks.

GREAT PROFESSOR! She really has a passion and love for literature and passes it on to the students. The lectures are always great. Great knowledge of the subject. Took her in the Summer at 7 AM and there was never a dull moment. A professor that wants you to succeed. Read the assignments and do the work. This class reignited my love of reading.

Took her for multiple classes. Loved her style of teaching. She doesn't like excuses and you are expected to do the work and participate. She has great discussions. It will be very clear whether or not your views align but your opinion is valued as long as you are respectable about it. She treats her students the same way.

I respect her passion for literature. It makes the class fun. She's hilarious and kind. I love her blue hair. Just don't use your phone and make sure to take notes. She also doesn't make us buy a textbook. All you have to do is buy one novel. I got mine for $5.

She's entertaining, witty, and just plain sweet. She's very loose with deadlines because she understands technology doesn't work and people have jobs and emergencies. Not too much work is assigned and the assignments are not too difficult if you put in the work. She truly cares about her students in a way few professors do. Take her!!

She was clear with expectations and directions. Follow her assignment instructions and complete them per her directions and receive an easy A. She gives plenty of time and is always available and understanding should you need to reach out to her. There is a lot of reading and writing involved, but the class itself is very easy to understand.

Mrs. Hansen was the best professor I have had at Sac. took her for English 1302 and Humanities 1301 and both classes were easy. Their wasn't a bunch of quizzes for both classes and all you really had to do was just keep up with the assignments and discussions and participate and you'll pass. 10/10 would take both classes again if I could

Took her twice and would again if I could. Best teacher to have if you have a busy personal life. She understands this and is willing to work with you. Super sweet and the work isn't very hard nor is there a lot of it. Super easy going and wants you to pass. Very passionate about what she teaches. Also very fun to listen to during lectures.

English/humanities is not my best or favorite subject but I still really enjoyed this class. Super nice and always willing to help you out. As long as you do the work she assigns and try your best you'll do fine. She had one big paper that was due at the end of the semester that is done in chunks to help. Several discussion posts and a project.

She genuinely wants you to understand the material and pass the class. She is an easy grader -- as long as you follow the instructions on assignments, you'll be fine. She's willing to work with you if you need extensions. Has a passion for the subject and is a kind person in general.

This professor is amazing! she was funny and nice and would help out whenever needed. At one point she bribed us with candy! She make English fun.
