Great Quizzes and Tests. Makes sure everyone understands the topic before moving on. I've got my best math mark with her. She is a great great teacher.
She's a really great teacher. Wants everyone to understand and does everything she can to get you to pass. Quizzes are right out of the homework and the exams are very basic. Take her if you can!
Wonderful teacher. Repeatedly asks if everyone understands material. What a difference it makes when your oakland university math teacher actually speaks english. I got my best mth grade in this class and would recommend her to everyone.

I am not good at all in math, but she worked with us very well. Gives quizzes so that your grade isn't just based on a mid-term and final exam.
SHE IS NOT VERY CLEAR AND SHE DO NOT KNOW HOW TO TEACH. SHE MESS UP WHEN DOING PROBLEMS ON THE BORED AND DOSE NOT EXPLAIN THE ANSWERS RIGHT. AND WHEN SHE GIVE A QUIZ IT'S ON STUFF WE DID NOT EVEN GO OVER. YOU WILL BE COMPLETELY LOST IN HER CLASS. I DO NOT RECOMMEND HER FOR MTH011.
Good prof.
Great professor! Take her, it's easy.
Prof.Mullally is very helpful she allows you to get partial credit back on tests for making the right corrections. You also receive extra credit for going to the academic skills center for tutoring. She explains concepts in class pretty well i recommend her for any one needing to take beginners math
Math 121 is not easy, but she explains is as well as anyone possibly can. Her exams are not tricky, you get points for homework, and the quizzes help your grade as well. If you have to take math at OU, she is the best professor that we have. She wants you to pass. HIGHLY recommend
Seemed nice but class was just hard
very nice lady...but its not an easy blow off...uhave to do the work and show up to class...she doesnt take attendance but gives xtra credit for goin to the academic skills center...allows test corrections and is very nice and shows up late in the morning but shes cool not a blow off
Great teacher, but wasn't clear on test preparation.
She is very nice. Great teacher. you have to do all the work. you can't be lazy if you want to pass. Highly recommended.
Very nice prof. She likes to help with "last nights homework" but sometimes it takes to long and runs into lecture time and then she rushes. But She's more than willing to help you with whatever it is you don't understand. She does whatever she can to help you understand, and pass the class.
this teacher doesn't understand an emergency sitution she still fails you if you have a note or proof of the sitution. I suggest that you do not get this teacher she might ruined your life as a whole.
Tests were impossible. Class averaged a 51 on the 1st test and she did not curve because "She does not know how we did so bad." When the entire class fails it should be a sign that she did not teach the material well.
Very good Teacher she curves and allows you to make test corections and there is extra credit!
Awesome teacher, highly recommended for math dept.
This class was very challenging, the average on the tests were all below 60%. If the class average is so low its not just the students...She was clear in explaining some principles but went through things way too fast. I wouldn't recommend this prof.
very hard
Her class did little for me. I often had to teach myself using the text book, but the content is not difficult, a lot of review from previous math/algebra courses. You have to go to class; she gives quizzes every day. Very friendly, wants you to do well.
Such a sweet lady and is always laughing at herself. Wants everyone to do well in her class and is always willing to stop class in order to help one person, which at times can take up a little too much class time. She goes over entire exams before hand but is kind of a picky grader, little mistakes cost a lot on exams.
totally agree with the last person! she a great teacher, just sometimes she can take all of class time explaining 2 or 3 problems!
She takes a long time going over homework assignments and then tends to cram the rest of the class to catch up. She does a good job explaining problems, but she doesn't go over all the problems that you will see in homework. Her different tests she passes out are all the same but the problems are in different orders, so use that for test correction
Not bad overall. First test isn't bad at all. 2nd test is kinda tricky. The exam for this class is pretty much the same as the previous years. So, when studying for the exam I would recommend to pretty much just learn the things on the previous yrs exams, as it has not changed much at all.
dont take this class. find someone better. its professors like her that give the OU math department a bad name. the two projects were awful and she didnt know how to explain them without giving out the answers. better to take this class at OCC.
She is very caring and tries to make sure you understand the info but Oakland's math department as a whole is desperately lacking. Take the class somewhere else if possible. The two projects are impossible to get all the points. The final is written by the head of math and will be worded a bit differently, increasing the difficulty.
EXCELLENT PROFESSOR! Take her for every math class she has. Anyone who says she is hard is just lazy! I got a 4.0 in MTH 121 with her and only missed a couple of points on the projects. She is willing to help when you need it! Love this professor!!!!!!!
This is my second time taking this class, and I wish I would have had her the first time around, because I probably would have passed. So far I find her to be easy to understand, and she is very willing to help you succeed, as long as you are willing to work along with her. I would recommend her to anyone, but try to take the class at OCC or Macomb
Great, she makes sure most people understand everything, if you don't understand, they offer SI with a tutor that can help you after the class period. She leaves a good amount of time for questions on the section, homework is never required, yet she does have a 5 point quiz everyday regarding a section that she has allowed questioning already.
Super sweet lady. She does everything she can to make the class as fair and easy as it can be. As far as the class itself, it's kind of tricky and I've heard from a lot of people that it's much better to take at OCC or Macomb. If you take this class here though, definitely take it with her. She'll really help you out.
She's a very nice prof and truly makes it her goal for students to understand material. This class takes dedication, and you need to study and actually do your hw even though she doesn't collect it. Kind of harsh on the grading of the project. Make sure you do EVERY detail it asks you to on the project.
She is an excellent, great teacher. Grading can be harsh, but she is your best bet for passing this class at OU. Really helpful, friendly, gives extra credit a lot. Has quizzes everyday, so go to class. If more teachers were like her, OU's math department wouldn't suck so bad. I wish I would have had her the first time I took this class!
Don't even risk taking this class with another prof. she is the best OU has. It's best to take this class at OCC but if you can't, take her.
Good professor all things considered, as the rest of the dept. leaves something to be desired. Take the course at OCC if you can, but if you have to take it at OU, take her. Extra credit for attending SI and tutoring, you can make up 25% of missed points on tests and she gave some random extra credit too. Tough grader on the project though.
I definitely wasn't ever really into math, but she made it easy for me. I got lucky when I picked this needle out of the haystack.
She has to be the best OU has for math. She is very clear; the questions on her tests are based on book problems and lets you know what type of problems will be on it beforehand. You can also get extra credit for attending SI/tutoring the first month, 25% of missed test points by correcting them, and she curved our first test by 5 points too!
What a professor! She makes everything so easy to understand. Gives daily quizzes but and it's exactly from the HW or examples she does in class. She gives extra credit for attending S.I. for the first month. TAKE HER CLASS!!!
So incredibly nice and helpful. Daily quizzes help you stay on track and its right from the homework anyway so it helps your grade. Teaches the material very well. You can make test corrections to get half of your points back. I loved her. TAKE HER FOR SURE! : )
This class was pretty easy and not a lot of work. She gives daily quizes, which can hurt your grade if you miss a lot (but she drops the grade of a few of them). The daily homeworks don't take very long and the tests don't contain any surprises.
Really Good teacher, she gives you easier ways to do some of the problems. This class is pretty hard she makes it a little easier. Always available to help.
Shes better than taking a foreign professor that for sure.
I wish I had taken this class with another professor teaching it.
seriously she's unhelpful and dumb.. we basically teach ourselves. we correct about 10 mistakes a day she makes. she thinks bc we are in MTH 011 that we are dumb and that we failed a previous math classw which is not true. some people are just bad at math! take a different professor SERIOUSLY!!
One word: AWESOME. She is hands down the best math teach OU has to offer. For those people complaining about her, they were probably 1 of the 30 people i'd see missing from my math class on Fridays. GO MULLAlLY curse you for not teaching 122!
Good Professor. Answers all questions well. exams are fair. all homework is for your benefit only, not graded. only hw is one review assignment before exams. gives daily quizes of one question that was on "homework" from day before. can be a good grade booster if you try. would reccommend her to anyone. recieved a 3.1 in class and i hate math
She's a really good math teacher. There are daily quizzes on the previous nights hw assignments which are easy pts if you understand the hw. She answers hw questions the beginning of every class. Tests are easy if you keep up with hw and quizzes. The only negative is that she talks A LOT, usually about tips which may get annoying.
Very nice, helpful. Has clear notes. I had to retake this class (I'm very bad at math), & still retook it with her. This class requires a lot of formula memorization. Quiz every class over prev. h/w(usually 1 question). Very fair grader, & asks if anyone has any questions over the h/w & will run through it until understood. DO YOUR HOMEWORK!!!
She knows her stuff. always willing to help no matter if she likes u or not. very long winded but still get things done. GREAT prof will take again if needed
Best Math professor at OU!! Got a 2.7 in Math 122, but probably would have failed with anyone else. Clear, well prepared, tests that are challenging, but manageable and useful.
This class is very challenging. But Professor Mullally gives great notes/lectures, and is very helpful. You HAVE to do the homework or you will NOT pass. Quizzes (1 question)from homework daily, gives EC for going to tutoring. I got a 2.6 and would have failed if I didn't do the homework and if I took it with someone else! Take her!
Mullally is american so thats a plus. homework is mandatory. only gives EC for first 4 weeks then nothing after. Final exam is impossible so have to do well on exams leading up to it
Math is not my thing ? but she was so helpful! Met with her many times and she helped me with everything I needed. She was so nice, and when I was doing bad she let me know and helped me bring my grade up.. I ended up with an 85, probably would have failed with other teachers. Take her! If you have trouble, go to her ? she?s very willing to help.
She has the best notes ever. She was a kindergarden teacher so thats why she is so nice and takes it easy on her class. If you are more then ten minutes late to her class you won't be able to take the quiz she gives everyday at the start of class. Besides that it was a very easy math class.
She honestly is the best! When I didnt understand something in lecture (pretty much everything) she helped so much! Shes very helpful with any question you have and step by step goes through some packet problems. If she was my lecture teacher and workshop I prob would of done so much better in math!
Professor Mullally is hands down the best math professor in OU's math department. She is very helpful and will explain to you anything you may have a problem with understanding. She is very friendly and as long as you stay on task and are looking to succeed she will help make sure you reach that goal. I wish she could have taught the lecture.
She was the workshop instructor and she was better than the actual professor...she was really helpful, however she didn't rotate around the room as much as I would have liked, she stayed with one group majority of the class time..
This class is a pain but she is very helpful & tries her hardest to make sure everyone understands. The only thing I don't like is we have a quiz every class period at the beginning of class so if you're two minutes late, you might not be able to finish on time. Other than that, I like how she tries to put things in lamest terms and show every step
SUCH A GOOD TEACHER. I have never met a Math teacher as engaged in helping students succeed as her. As someone who has to work extremely hard to get a good grade in Math, she made it so much easier to understand. She doesn't mind speding extra time explaining things & is very friendly and easy to talk to. Don't hesitate to ask her anything!
I had her for MTH 141 as a workshop instructor. She is very sweet. Her quizzes are from the book problems ONLY and even goes over them before the quizzes. She even gave optional quizzes at the end to replace lower quiz scores. If you don't get 100% on your quiz portion with her, you won't get anywhere near better with someone else.
Excellent teacher. She's the best math teacher I've had at OU so far. Gives really helpful test review and will listen to student suggestions when it comes to how she runs the class. If you have the option of taking her I highly suggest it.
This was a challenging for me since I am no math major, but she sometimes sped through the material if she was short on time and assigns the reading after she explains it. She is a nice lady and means well, but I think she makes the tests harder than they should be. I had a higher overall quiz grade and the class tests were in the average range by the class, including mine. If my quizzes were high I would have hoped that it was because I understood the material and could do the tests since I understood the quizzes and did the homework. Homework was optional but that is how she quizzes based on the homework. If I could go back I personally would have taken a different class. Scientific graphing calculator a must.
I did not like this professor. She made me feel like an idiot any time I asked a question and she treated us like we were in middle school. She gave very little review for the exams. I do not recommend this professor at all. DO NOT TAKE!
This is regarding the workshop portion of Precalc. She was very nice and was always willing to meet outside of class in order to help you learn the information. She would always try to explain the material as much as possible. The quizzes are pretty basic if you understand the material. She doesn't know whats on the exams so she can't help.
I would advice any incoming freshman to not take this Universities math courses! Way to hard for it to be a low level class, instructor moves way to quickly to understand material and quizzes are almost a win/lose scenario. Went to office hours like no ones business also sought out peers, tutoring center, student orgs etc. Will have to take again!
Worst math class I've ever taken and Oakland is under math probation. The teachers for math suck here besides zimmerman which i took for 121. Mullally is a nice teacher but she sets her expectations to high and goes to fast. We didn't even get our daily quizzes back before the test, she is better than other math 122 teachers though.
Mullally gives her students very helpful fill in notes, not all MTH 122 professors do it and it is really helpful. She gives a quiz everyday but it is usually just easy points. She gives extra credit for going to SI. I don't usually go to SI but for this class it was extremely helpful.
Mullally is the reason why I passed MTH141. Very kind and willing to help. Amazing at explaining concepts. Will go over problems repeatedly until students understand. If more than 2 students ask about a specific problem, she'll take a minute to teach the entire class how to do it, which is EXTREMELY helpful. Please don't be discouraged, take her!
If it wasn't for Professor Mullally I wouldn't have passed MTH 141. Had Prof Cohlon. Learned everything from her class. I would take her again.
She is the nicest thing ever! Shes always at her office hours to help you. Easy to talk to and overall cares that you do well. She will always tell you that repetition of the same problems is the way to your success and shes not lying its very true. I did a chunk of problems over and over till all i had to do was look at it and know how to solve it
One of the nicest professors I have ever come across. She is beyond helpful and thoroughly explains anything you may have questions about. She is constantly walking around the class making sure that nobody has questions, and has to be one of the best workshop teachers to have, in comparison to the others when asking outside students.
She was a very nice person and amazing at explaining the material. She would break down every problem for the class and carefully go through it which made learning super easy. She never insults students for asking questions and she's always willing to help.
As far as math classes go for OU, this professor can ease the pain a long as you put the work in. Every class starts with a short quiz but the good news is she takes the questions directly from the home work. I went to her office hours everyday to check answers and I did well on the quizzes, she will help you as much as you need as long as you ask
As long as you go to every class, you can pass. She is friendly and accessible out of class.
Had her for MTE 2111. Truly, truly cares about her students. If you come to her, she is 100% willing to change what you need her to. Guided notes, great examples, uses the book to create her note sheets, so everything goes together seamlessly. Pulls test/quiz questions from book, sometimes alters them so they're not exact. Great professor.
Mullally was my workshop instructor for MTH141 (now MTH1441). Workshop involved her walking around the room all hour while we did practice problems (not for a grade, just busy work). She explains the concepts well. She had weekly/biweekly quizzes, which defined your workshop grade in the class. She is great help outside the classroom.
She is good teacher and she explain the subject well, but the problem is with grade because the grade were only for exams.
honestly this is the second, first time was for algebra and second pre calc. she has been the best workshop instructor because she explains very well and she does the class work the night before so she can put the book answers up to help motivate her students to make sure they get the right answers.
She was always available at her office hours to talk about the homework, tests, etc. Daily quizzes based on the homework. Extra credit for going to SI / The Tutoring Center. Best math professor at Oakland!
She seemed like a good person, but always came to class disorganized, so it was difficult for us to respect her as a professor. She was a pretty normal grader.
Professor Mullally is very kind and wants her students to do well. Since the lecture professor (Robert Connolly) made frequent errors on his own exams, Mullally would always listen to student's complaints and make sure the issues are addressed to the lecture professor. She was always willing to sit down and help anyone that was struggling.
Make sure to do the assigned homework and you should be fine. She is very willing to answer questions, both inside and outside of class. Her office hours are helpful. She is a pretty fair grader, and the tests and quizzes are very similar to the homework.
Calculus is not an easy course but she made it easy. Her worksheets and lectures are VERY helpful. She also gives a quiz at the beginning of every class but, it's so helpful. I helps you realize what you know versus what you need to work on. If you show up, pay attention, and understand whats going on (rather than just memorizing) you'll pass.
Jane was truly a gem. I had not taken a math class in 4 years and was worried at first but Jane truly made it possible for me. I will say you do have to study and put your work in to pass- its still tough. But Jane truly cares about her students. Thank you, professor Jane for being an amazing teacher!!!
She gives out quizzes every day you have class and if you're late you cannot take a quiz. She gives extra quizzes for extra credit. Homework is optional and the book is not needed. She is very nice and willing to help you outside of class.
Best math teacher I've ever had. Makes understanding the material easy. As long as you show up to class, put in the work and study you'll be perfectly fine.
Daily quizzes that double as attendance. Easy class. Homework every other day. Notes are posted online after class. Need the textbook. She cares and will help.
She clearly cares about her students. She is one email away if you have any questions or need clarification on anything. She is strict with her due dates and is really test heavy. Her graders grade pretty harshly but she is more than willing to help if you have a question!
She's a great professor who cares about her students. Her lectures are clear and she's always available to help. She gives a lot of work but as long as you put in the effort and do the assignments you will be perfectly fine.
As a person, Jane is very sweet. As a professor, she is also great, but moves fast so you have to keep up. If you don't attend class, take the notes, do the homework without any outside sources (photomath, etc), you will probably fail the exams.
Prof. Jane is a good professor, but a tough one. LOTS of HW, exams are heavy and not even close to be like the study guides but if you study a lot and pay attention in class, you will pass. There's an in-class activity that if you don't do, you wont pass the class. Classes are mandatory. Besides that, she will reply to emails and she's very nice.
One of my favorite professors that Ive had. She is so nice and will be willing to go the distance to make sure you understand the material. Her lectures are great with detail. If you have a chance to take her, do it!
My second time taking her and I would recommend her to everyone. She's probably the best math professor at Oakland, not because of her amazing personality or anything, but her class is straight forward and simple. Just show up to class, do you homework, study for the exams and you'll be fine. She's also very helpful with questions.
I struggled A LOT with math. I was extremely nervous ab college math specifically because I heard that the math department at OU was terrible, but Prof Mulally was insane. Best teacher, professor, I've ever had. SHE IS the best professor in the math department at OU. She is there for you, she cares for you, she doesn't get annoyed from many qtions
In complete disbelief all these ratings are so high up for Professor Mullally. I ended up with a decent grade that I was satisfied with. But this professor is absolutely terrible. Almost every day her connection would go out and we would miss so much of class. There were also times where I emailed her questions and she never responded. No thanks!
She was one of the best professors, gave our class such great notes, and would tell us what we should know for tests!
If you want someone who cares about their students and their success she is the one! She went out of her way to help me at 8:00 at night to help me better understand the material and I feel way more confident about knowing it. She is honestly amazing.
Don't take this course! I took precalc and ap calc in highschool and summer college credits and it did not prepare me for this course at all. I've never had a problem with math until I took this class. I emailed every day, completed every homework assignment and every single review , went to the tutoring center, and still got a C on every exam.
Professor Mullally is the nicest most caring professor Ive had at OU. She truly cares about her students success, and is always willing to help.
The professor was great but the lecture was heavy and difficult, you must study well for exams
She seems like a nice person but she is such a difficult grader. She wants your work to look exactly like hers and if it doesn’t you will get points off. Had her for lecture and workshop, it felt like a high school class. Always being watched over, would get told to put away other work, get off phone, etc.
if you want to take a math class that lets you slack off then this class isn't the one for you. you will need to put work into the class. this prof. is the most caring math prof I have ever had. she WANTS you to succeed, but you need to work for it. if you dont put in the work, you wont pass.
A great professor at OU!! She will make sure that you understand the topic and will show examples during the lectures if you don't understand.
Had her for intermediate algebra this semester. if you attend the lectures you will more than likely understand the material. she was great online and in person. great teacher, I even signed up for her precalc class.
Really acts like she wants students to succeed. Super kind to students. She also went out of her way to make notes for us to fill in instead of writing everything in a notebook.
One of my favorite professors at OU. She answers questions in a way that makes perfect sense. The only downside to her is she can be quick to catch an attitude if you get a question wrong. Almost like she's offended you didn't understand her lecture. Other than that shes the sweetest and most caring professor at oakland
Never take her. First off she gets really annoyed and angry when asking for simple help, second for our final grade she used a unecessary grading method last minute that makes your total grade lower by 2-5 points. She did not use any curves or test corrections for extra points on the exams. I am currently reporting her to the dean bc of her method.
Professor Mullally was great! Definitely do not let the bad ratings discourage you from taking her; those are just from people who didn't study hard enough and blame their failure on her. She is much better than other math professors at OU. However, lectures can be fast and incomplete, but otherwise she is good.
Would have been a 5 UNTIL I realized she was the one who made the exams bc they're 20x harder than any of the notes/previous quizzes we do in class so the reviews don't help that much. Lecture was often rushed, but not 100% her fault bc of time limit and she posted the notes after. Other than that she's a good professor and she's really nice.
Prof Mullally was by far the best professor I had this semester. She taught very thoroughly and if you're willing to apply yourself to the material, it's very easy to do well in this class.
I took Jane for both mth1441 and mth0662, and she was amazing! She's always available outside of class and will answer any question during class without making you feel dumb. A textbook and attendance is required. She also always uploads practice exams and her notes before class starts.
All around great professor. She really cares about her students succeeding in her class. I had her for MTH 1441 and she really tried to help everyone understand the material both in lecture and in the workshop. The lectures can sometimes be a drag and feel draining but its rarely that big of an issue. Definitely take her if you can.
Jane was a fantastic professor. I had her for pre calc and she was great. She always stood up for us and was very clear in lectures and instructions.
NEVER TAKE THIS COURSE AT OU. not a bad professor herself but terrible course. exam averages were always so low and they were always messing up grades. they would curve it only because everyone did horrible. She herself was only bad because she would mess up a lot during lecture because it's so rushed. The whole math department is so so bad.
very nice as a person, she does care about students, but not the greatest professor. she knows she goes too fast and warns you of it. you need to study outside of class at least a few hours a week
Professor Mullally is one of the only good math professors at OU. It might be difficult starting off if its your first year in a college level math course. The notes are very organized and if you miss a lecture she records them so you wont miss out on any material. Exams can be very difficult but most grades are curved.
Take it from someone who had to retake the course, Jane's the way to go. Honestly the people in my class complaining about her have no idea how bad the other professors are. I never did the homework and didn't show up to class a lot, if I did I definitely could've scored higher. If you do the study guides you'll be good for exams and quizzes dw
I am terrible when it comes to math but I feel like she is the only professor that really made the material make sense! She does move fast due to time but everything she talks about is clear. She doesn't seem super approachable but she is SO sweet. She really wants you to get what she's teaching and is so excited when the class is understanding
Often would be explaining a new concept and skip over parts saying "you should know this already". Boring lectures yet incredibly lecture heavy. OFTEN would contradict herself when working through problems, confuse herself and in result, the students as well. Was incredibly disrespectful to the TA in workshop (also mandatory).
She's a decent teacher but goes way too fast and spends too much time on things we don't need to spend a lot of time on. She says "are you with me" a lot which is very annoying and spends too little time on the important stuff. And she skips a lot of material you need for homework. And she assigns homework with problems we didn't cover in class.
Prof Mullally can be tough but engaging. The lectures are dense, so use unstuck study and the free textbook to supplement. Stay on top of the work and you'll do well.
Professor Mullally did actually want you to learn the material! As with every math course though, she's extremely fair when it comes to grading. She shows sympathy, but literally cannot push your grade up for you. Pre-calc teaches so much in a semester, but the exams are always pretty fair, you just have to have an understanding of everything.
The Professor herself wasn't too bad, she definitely goes super fast and just expects you to understand "You should already know this" is used frequently. The math department is just extremely flawed, expect a quiz every single week and hours upon hours of studying only to get several points off for small mistakes. Save yourself and just dont take
I took her my very first semester, and she was a great teacher. Honestly, very thorough teaching style, tries to get through all the guided notes and manageable homework. Workshop was mandatory, which is helpful. Honestly, I did not do much during workshop on some days, but it can be helpful for students who need extra practice.
Jane's class was a mess. Always expected to know things b4 it was taught; “you should already know this.” Very strict on grading and spoke thru the lectures way too quick. She was mean to the VA for not over working everyone. Recommend taking this class at a community college.
