She is very personable, get to know her. Go to class!!
Really nice...enjoyed the class.
Nice...Moves fast, assumes you know more than most do. Fairly easy.
Very boring at times. Good class in general.
Exams are hard, she gets pissed if you leave class early.
Class a good time to doodle, but she gets cranky if you leave early. Tests hard!
She's passionate about the subject, but tends to be repetitive.
She is very helpful if you ask for assistance, and you will have to, believe me!
very nice woman. great teacher. fair but not easy. very useful class btw.
She is a great and fair teacher
she was very energetic, kind & fair. great teacher!
Very nice lady, but the worst prof. I've had so far
Nice teacher, really wants you to be interested in bio. Not too bad a class.
lectures are boring and tests are very hard
Lot of material and hard tests but if you study you should get no lower than a B
V.Easy+interest'g. Helpful. Luv's subject. Totally inspired me! Only 3 sh ass'ts
Here's a hint : hide in the back corner, she doesn't see you leave early
fine as a prof. for viruses genes and cancer, but made me despise 207
Not very understanding when personal problems arise.
difficult exams,VERY helpful prof, curves at end if you go for extra help often
boring..and test cover noting learned in class
No Comments
Tests impossible and teacher was impossible to learn from.
I had AP Bio in High School class was supereasy I never went to this one
Piece a cake!Interesting tho'.Don't need to study much.
she was a horrid test giver
Likes to teach, tests are right from notes
Very good prof; helpful, nice, gives good notes. Study hard you'll be fine.
Funny, enthusiastic, but tests are HARD!!! Material may be hard to follow, read
tests are HARD, boring lectures, gets cranky when you leave early!

Very enthusiactic and funny, pay attention in lecture and take great notes.
great lady... very personable
Easy class if you attend regularly. Tests from notes, very enthusiastic.
Avoid her; doesn't appear competent; flighty; should retire; take Skopik/Hodson
WONDERFUL lady!! very nice, easy tests, go to class and take notes
I am a senior FINC major and got the easiest A in her class. She is awsome!
easy class...hard but fair tests...nice lady...easy b...
Great lady but I died to pull a C. Study every day! Take great notes!
nice lady, straightfoward powerpoint, but study REALLY hard for tests
Someone should tell her its a b.s. course. I study like crazy to be border line
Nice lady, knows her stuff, clear notes for the most part, pretty easy
Excellent notes and test questions taken right from notes. Helpful with clarity
Have to pay attention in class, she can be confusing but overall good
Easiest Science class you will ever take...also very interesting, go to class
easy class. go to lectures to pass, the books are useless
not too difficult a class. very helpful. likes to make jokes about herself
Very nice lady, notes kind of confusing and tests not all that easy.
boring as hell. read text and avoid class- look up study guide ans. and ur fine
Interesting woman, slept through every class
Test aren't so bad, but so much info it becomes confusing. Great lady will bend over backward for her students.Lab is a pain.
horrible professor. avoid class. took in fall, class seems okay but exam is completely different
boring lecturer; not very well spoken; really good text; easy tests straight from the notes
Must go to class for lecture notes, doesn't cover all of chapter material, tests are fairly easy but some tricky questions, helpful TA's though
Great textbook (helpful prof & study guide too) and clear lectures. Tests horrifyingly easy and directly from lectures. CD with book will give you test questions almost identical to exams. Labs book written atrociously badly & TA's poorly trained.
Cares about what she is doing. Rare at this university.
She is so sweet and nice. Tells jokes but they usually are corny. Her tests are pretty easy just look at notes. Don't take Smith. Take NOBLE-HARVEY, you'll love her!
Nice lady. Go to class, do study guides. Tests are ok, just memorization. Labs are ok, depends on TA.
very interesting
Read the book and take good notes. Know everything for the final!!!
Nice lady, sense of humor, has a spirit of a student (happy to get days off, tries to keep things simple for students). Tests only what's covered in lecture. pretty logical progression of lectures. Rather fast with notes tho.
Great Professor!!! A on first test!!
nicest lady ever...great personality and will always go over something again if you don't understand

I love her voice!!! She is a great teacher
An extremely good teacher. Teaches materials for students to learn. Test fairly- not too difficult. Highly recommend!
AHHH she makes me go nuts!! Her questions on her test are so confusing..nice lady and all..but I would never take any of her classes again! Good luck to whomever takes that class next year
her tests make no sense i would not recomend her get skopik:)
Learn a lot of information. Good teacher. Her tests are tricky, and you must really understand the information its not just based on pure facts.
Easily my favourite teacher. Just an overall great person, a real pleasure to have as a teacher.
Noble-Harvey is a horrible teacher. She rarely shows up to class, and when she does her voice will bore you to death. Her tests are incredibly unfair. Definitely take Skopik
Not a bad teacher, but boring at many times. Exams weren't too bad as long as you studied.
My favorite professor- couldn't be a nicer or more helpful woman! She loves her students and would do anything for them! Test can be tricky though. Super-dooper highly recommended!!!
nice lady, but I didn't learn alot.
Not an easy class, but Dr. Noble-Harvey is a great professor. Her lectures are very clear and understandable. She is very helpful and really nice. Just make sure you study hard for the exams.
helpfut but tests are tricky......very hard to follow lecture
Sometimes i think shes ****, but shes a good teacher. her jokes keep me awake
Noble-Harvey was a hard professor. She had really weird jokes that actually kept me awake..but tests are so tricky!!!!! study those lecture notes, and if you have questions ask them! she tends to pull things out of her butt on tests, so be ready..and good luck!
I studied A LOT and could never get higher than a C on the exams. Lectures were pretty boring. She tends to be unclear and vague in class and then ask incredibly specific things on the exam.
Very nice lady. She tries to keep the lecture interesting, but biology isn't going to be fun. Her lectures are vague and the tests are too specific. If one studies a lot, doing well is possible.
Lots of work, but it is a writing class. PBL based which is both good and bad. Very nice Prof. Keep up with the work and get a good grade.
Didn't learn a thing,she tried, but i still didn't learn a thing....Tests suck
dr. noble harvey is a really sweet lady and she wants her students to learn the material and be excited about biology. procrastinators should not take this class - you HAVE to start studying for her exams at least the week before them. go to lecture, read, and absorb the material - you'll pass
Loves the topics she's teaching and is excited about the class, but if you fall asleep easily.. do NOT take her. LIGHTS OFF and OVERHEAD ON the WHOLE time! .. tests were WAY too hard. I took great notes and would study a week before.. and still pull C's... Nice, but hard. Do not recommend...
Tough class. You wont get higher than a C unless you MASTER the material. Her tests were sooo tricky and confusing. This class will make you work for that C. Use your textbook for studying religously
WARNING: avoid at all costs! noble-harvey made my life miserable! the material isn't that difficult, but somehow with her chaotic notes, she made it utterly impossible! only take this course if you like to be tortured and if you're ready to fail.
The class is hard regardless which instructor you have. Noble-Harvey tries to make jokes and keep you going, but it doesn't work. She wasn't too, bad, cept for the one time she flipped out and stormed out of class. If you have to take micro tho, i've heard smiths tests are harder. Study ur butt off!
She tries to make lectures as non-boring as possible, and she is a nice funny lady. Tests are fair, but you need to study the notes and stuff from the book thoroughly. Labs are actually fun, but not easy. Weekly quizzes and lab reports plus hard lab final. A relatively easy "B", and I'm a frosh!
Material seems like it should be easy but her tests are so tricky! Try to get Skopik. She tries to make people laugh in class, but it doesn't seem to work. Labs are easy and short.
TAKE HER! The other ppl who commented dont know what they are talking about, its either her or dr. smith and you do NOT want him.3 exams based right off notes, take good notes in class, dont study book, have to memorize a lot of notes, but its better than reading about stupid microorganisms, highly recommended, easiest bisc teacher at this school
This was a hard class...Dr. Harvey is pretty good compared to the stories I've heard about the other professors. But be prepared to work hard for an A. The text book is an indecipherable joke. Her tests are often much more specific than her lectures would prepare you to expect, which is why people say she is tricky. Just study everything.
Took the course online...she's a cute little lady-a bit boring...you will get an A--just watch the lectures once.
The notes are completely unorganized, making it almost impossible to study effectively for exams. The lectures can be pretty interesting, though, if you aren't too concerned with trying to make sense of her overheads or the logical order of topics. She's willing to help you out if you need it.
great prof, notes and lecture are sometimes hard to follow, but i think that is because she gets so excited about what she is teaching, she is really into it, tests are fair, difficult if you don't study enough, if you know the material well, you'll get a B, hard to get an A. i would gladly take her for any Biology class. She's cool too.
Definitely a good professor. Her lectures can be unclear sometimes, but if you ask questions, she tries her best to answer them well. She gets really excited about the material which is great. 3 in class exams, 50 questions Multiple choice--not hard if you study...but she includes a couple of questions that were minor details she didn't focus on
She is quite possibly the most boring lecturer I have ever experienced. Got very little out of her transparency scribble she expects you to memorize. Read the book, study real hard and you might get a C if you do well in lab. Better off taking Mahaffy.
Def. do not take Mahaffy over Noble-Harvey. Yes, her overheads are sometimes unclear and out of order, but if you read the book and then read her notes, it all makes sense. Start studying a week prior to the exam and you should manage a B. Get old exams from someone if you can...helps a lot!
She is definetely a great professor. Her exams are right out of lectures, so study the lectures, and only refer to the book for diagrams. If you worry about the nitty gritty stuff in the book, you'll miss the big picture in her notes and will not do as well as you would if you just studied the lectures. Take her!
She loves what she does and she is very nice. For this class you need to study your notes well and it wouldnt hurt to know what the next chapter is about so read. It will make your semester easier trust me...She is most likely the best professor for BIO
This class was kind of annoying because her overhead notes never made sense, but there were always questions on the exams using weird examples from her notes, making it useful to attend class and not just read the book. Overall she was very nice and tried to be funny.
I was not a fan of her at all. Her lectures were boring. Some of her test questions required the knowledge of small details and her teaching style was all over the place and hard to follow. She did not go in order and all her transparencies were just pictures from the book. Take someone else if you can.
Great class. Very interesting.
I though I might like Bio, but after taking this course I know I don't. I can't totally blame it on NH, but I feel a disjunction between what she teaches in lecture and what she puts on the tests. There's a lot on the test that you basically have to teach yourself from the book.
So, the lectures are pretty interesting and she has an enjoyable personality and likes to make jokes. I really enjoyed her class a lot but the test questions were sometimes hard and tricky. Seems to be the best Bisc207 teacher - I am trying to get her again for micro.
I don't think her lectures are as boring as other people say. Her tests are definitely tricky. You have to read the book and teach yourself some of the stuff, because the tests always cover more than what's in the lectures. She's a really nice person. She let me take the final late because I got stuck in traffic on the way there.
Oh man, take this class. It's so freaking interesting and you learn so much. Plus, she's really cute to watch on video and makes cute little jokes- even if they aren't funny theyre still cute. And, the class is really easy for non science majors and she answers e-mails very promptly. One of my fav. classes at UD and I really am not a science fan.
Not a very good teacher at all. Most boring professor Ive had in awhile. Often unclear too. My AP Bio professor was 100432x better. Avoid at all costs. I have like a B+ or A in the class but I still regret taking her section.
Took as distance learning elective. Would recommend if you like bio--or even if you don't. Overall and interesting class. Easy to understand and easy to contact if there are questions. One of the best bio professors I've had. 4 Exams but they are straight forward. :)
Her tests are tricky, her lecture isnt too bad although she does skip around a lot and doesnt follow the book which is annoying. Just dont get on her bad side because she is not very nice if you do.
A nice lady, but disappointingly devoted to the textbook and disorganized. Tests are somewhat difficult, but mostly because of painful semantics, not because of difficult concepts. She's alright, but not the most inspiring teacher around.
I was actually pretty excited to take this class but the class was so boring and the tests were just confusing. There is no text book which you would think is a good thing but it actually sucks because all you have to study for the tests are notes of her confusing lectures. I thought this would be a easy class but it was not.
Very sweet Lady, great explaination of topics, made slides available online. NO BOOK TO BUY :D I recommend attending class, she doesn't take attendance, but it helps a lot to see the slides explained. It also helps to print out slides and take them with you to add notes in the margins. The tests are slightly hard, but study and you'll do well!

Hard Class!!! Go to the classes even though you won't understand most of what she says because its very unorganized, but she'll tell you wear to look in the book. Your teaching yourself in this class and begin to study two weeks before an exam!! Oh and take a pillow to class, you'll need it!!
Confusing, she is hard to understand and stammers frequently. The good thing is that she gives you the figures to study in the book and that helps you during the test.
IS THE WORST TEACHER I HAVE EVER HAD. brings downy our GPA, is disorganized, not funny, uninteresting, tests are impossible and does not care if you fail.
I will never take a class with her again. Apparently she's ok in 110, but take someone else for 207. Her lectures are incomprehensible sometimes, and she uses overheads that are very difficult to read on top of that. Exams are based on a very awkward combination of textbook and lecture. I hated this class, I worked very hard and I'm getting a B.
You'd think because it is online and has no textbook it'd be pretty easy. It's not. It is interesting, but when you go to take the exam you wonder where she got half some of the questions. The 3 assignments were really easy though and it looks like she just gives out 100's for them as long as you put in minimum effort.
I took this class online and most of the material is generally interesting. The exams were tough though. You really have to comb through your notes and find the most important things from each topic. Use the first test as a buffer bc she drops the lowest exam. 3 Assignments dont help your grade that much, maybe by a point or two, if that.
Noble-Harvey was a pretty tough professor, I will admit. Her exams were fairly hard in that you thought you did well and you didn't. In order to do well, you really have to know your material back to front (and sideways). The labs are also tough as the TAs grade hard. Overall, not really a "recommended" professor - see her during office hours.
as long as you go to class and take good notes, you'll do fine. her tests can be tricky if you don't read carefully and think through the question.
Terrible. Worst Professor I've had at UD. My high school AP Bio professor was substantially better. She thinks she is more knowledgable than she actually is. There were two times that I could remember that I had to correct her. Lectures were quite boring, tests were very detailed and often irrevalant. I got B and I know my bio. AVOID AT ALL COSTS
Terrible teacher, probably the worst one i've had at UD. The tests have absolutely nothing to do with the material in her notes or in the book. The lab in this class is really hard, atleast with my TA (Tim). She doesn't have any sympathy for what you're going through. Avoid her at all costs!!!!!
very hard class...teach urself and make sure u studyy!!! shes useles seriously
sheer unadulterated pain DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS!!!
Go to class and take good notes and you'll be fine. Hilarious woman. Lab, on the other hand, is not very much fun.
I had this professor for an online class, so I never axtually witnessed some of the things that others didn't like about her. She always answered my emails and she seemed very thorough with her lectures. There was no textbook, so I only needed to study notes for the exams. Tests really aren't that hard, for the online class anyway.
I had her for BISC 207 and it was not nearly as bad as i thought it would be. She's funny and nuce for the most part. Go to class and be prepared to take good notes. Study them well and you should do well on the tests. Lab was a little painful at times but ended with 3 or so weeks left in the semester :)
she is a great teacher, very useful. Her exams can be difficult if you haven't matererd the right way to study for them. ALWAYS attend class because her notes are VITAL. Overall rating of a C, not too easy, and not impossible. Not a teacher you should avoid. Shes happy, and loves biology.
she was a good teacher! she was helpful and always made funny jokes. her class was not that difficult. you only have to know the stuff she says in lecture. and if you read over the topics she goes over in the text book, you'll do fine.
This was the easiest class i've ever taken. as long as you take notes on what she says as well as what she draws on her overhead, you will do fine. all her tests are just multiple choice, and if the class does really bad she will curve it--but dont count on the curve, because its rare. Definately a GPA booster
Noble-Harvey is tough. Her notes aren't useless, but you need to go to the Figures in the book and read in depth. Don't read any material she doesn't go over in class. The test questions are sometimes ridiculous facts that hardly anyone can remember. If she gives you HW, do it well, b/c theres only a few. And do well in lab.
Her tests are impossible. She tells you that the tests are straight from the notes, but that clearly isn't the case. Take someone else if possible! AVOID!
tests are extremely difficult..you need to take good lecture notes and read from the book what she covers in class. i wouldn't advise taking her if you have another option. i would study for hours and still get tripped up with her questions on tests
She is extremely hard, try to avoid if possible. Her notes don't help at all. Take practice tests on textbook website because she sometimes takes questions from there and puts on test. Textbook is necessary.
Test are 50 mult. choice which are very detailed and tricky. You have to study alot over an extremely large amount of material and because of format its almost imposssible to ace test. Lecture notes help for test but the lab portion was torture. It counts for 30 percent of grade and required more work and effort than a regular class.
she's very nice and very goofy, but very tough. make sure you attend class and take good notes. lab is pretty easy if you have a good TA but the lab final is impossible. overall not bad.
Such an awful teacher. tests are really hard and cover a large amount of information. You have to take good notes to do well. also, labs are easy-but the lab final is pretty much impossible
Attend class, take notes, and you will be fine. The exams make you think, but really are not that bad. She actually has a sense of humor and gives analogies that really help understand the concepts. I really enjoyed taking bio with her.
This class is awful. The lectures are unbearable, the tests do not correlate with the lectures, and she doesn't allow you to ask questions during the test because she doesn't know the answer to anything. She comes off as a funny, cute woman, but she's a terrible professor. Stay away from this class and take it with SMITH!!
An A is definitely possible, but you will have to study hard for it. I studied for hours and hours before exams, mostly out of the book. Probably the hardest of the BISC 207 teachers, but you'll really know your bio afterwards.
This class is pretty difficult; much harder than I was expecting. I used to be very confident with Bio but now I second-guess myself. Lectures are straightforward but when it comes time for the tests, study the book as well. Test questions are often impossible.
completely horrible. class is pointless and the textbook makes more sense then her. tests are beyond difficult no matter how much you study.
Probably the worst BISC207 you can take. I knew all of the material from the lectures and still got straight D's on her tests. Her tests and homeworks are terrible. She only gives like 2 homework assignments a semester and everyone got a 2/15. AVOID HER AT ALL COSTS!
Probably the worst bisc207 teacher you could take. Tests are really hard no matter how hard you study, and she never gives study guides or example problems, and review sessions are almost worthless. Do really well on the hw assignments and quizzes, since there are very few. And attendance isn't mandatory except on days where she hands back tests
This class in unbelievable hard. Tests are difficult even when you study. She never answers your questions and usually just makes things more confusing. If you need to take this class find another professor.
The class is extremely interesting - infectious diseases. However her grading is subjective and too critical. She will take off 5 points just because there are no commas where she things there should be. Her comments are unclear and she is a poor professor.
You will like this class if you are into infectious diseases and have the time for it. There is a lot of research involved. You will learn a lot since most of the stuff you learn is through your own research. N.H. doesn't teach, you have a group and you teach each other. She can get mad if you dont know specifically what she wants you to. Be on you
This class is next to impossible. Lectures are unbearable and the tests are insanely hard. If by some chance you are able to follow the lectures and come up with a question, she probably won't be very helpful in her response. She knows her stuff, but she's not very good at teaching. A lot of us worked extremely hard for very low grades. Avoid!
ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE!!! WORST TEACHER! she expects us to have the knowledge of a PhD in the subject matter. Takes off for the MOST RIDICULOUS stuff and worst of all lies about how she will grade assignments! She will be kind to you when you go to her office but when she grades your assignments, she tears everything apart. Despicable. Not worth it. A
My advice: TAKE ANOTHER PROFESSOR, if you actually want to learn and receive a good grade, without putting ALL your time and effort into one class. BOTTOM LINE.
Do not take this class with her! Her tests are impossible! This is the only class that brought my GPA down a lot!
She is a horrible teacher. She says her exams are based off her slides, which are basic but her exams are impossible. She does not help if you ask her questions. Take another professor because they atleast give assignments which raises your grade.
I did well in this class, but I think it is only because I took AP Biology the year before in high school. Everyone that I talked to that hadn't taken AP or hadn't taken biology at all in a few years had some trouble. I supposedly will have her again my junior year for a harder class, so I'm definitely going to try to get a different prof.
Wow...I studied the night before every exam and got between a 96-100 on all of them. If you make an index card for every slide and learn the information it's really easy...I have no idea why so many people have trouble
She is a miserable woman and by far the worst professor I've ever had. Her tests are impossible no matter how hard you study, she makes you feel like an idiot and is basically completely unhelpful. Do not take her if you can avoid it.
You have to work very hard to do well in this class. Her notes seem very simple/easy to understand, but the book is necessary for clarification. She is awful help wise. She was very discouraging when I went to her office hours. If you can avoid having her do so. It will probably help you. I got a B in the class. If you work hard its possible.
She's really nice but the tests are tricky and class is kind of a waste of time. I would probably take micro with Smith instead.
The class is alright. The exams are pretty tough, but if you study they're not too bad. She isn't that helpful towards students.
Her powerpoints are all over the place and lectures are boring. There are very few homework assignments or quizzes, so do well or you will suffer. Tests are near impossible, even with studying her notes and the book. Do not take her!
I really liked her. She lectures from powerpoints, take notes on each powerpoint and study those notes. Also read the book to clarify, but tests are based on the lecture notes. She's very nice, can be boring. Altogether i recommend her but you have to be ready to study. I have an A.
One of the hardest classes and teachers I've ever taken. She's not very helpful. If you haven't taken AP Bio don't expect to do well in this class because she expects you to know it all already. I got the first C of my life (and I have no idea how because i failed all of the tests)
Tests are very hard, gets mad when ppl ask questions. Shes a good person tho.
She is very unclear and her tests are tricky. If you go to her for help she gets irritated.
Reading these before taking this class i was petrified because I was expecting this class to be impossible. The tests were easy, either listen in class or just listen to the lectures. I watched the lectures and took notes (ALL THE QUESTIONS ARE STRAIGHT FOR LECTURES, and what she says) if she doesn't go over it, she will not put it on the test.
I thought she was a very nice woman, but a terrible teacher. She expects to speak bio at you and for you to just comprehend. I had to teach myself. Tests require you to know EVERYTHING. I asked her how to do well on the exams and she said i was studying right but there was nothing she could say cause i was "just not trying enough."
I don't understand all of the negative ratings...I found Dr. Noble-Harvey to be one of the best and easiest professors I've had this year. Tests are straightforward and straight from lecture notes, you don't have to read at all. Also, she was the only professor who made an effort to get to know me this semester, which was very much appreciated.
Professor Noble-Harvey is a great professor. If you pay attention in class and study the lecture notes, BISC207 is an easy A.
If you're a good student, there is no way you'll get less than an A in this class. There are no surprises on the exams. None. The material is either A) from the lecture notes or B) from the parts of the text she directly told you to read. If you struggle with this course, do yourself a favor and change your major.
This class is so easy, especially if you have taken AP Bio. Every test comes straight from the powerpoints, and they are all multiple choice. She is a nice, funny lady, but talks slowly, so lectures are a little boring. Few homework assignments that she makes a big deal out of, even though they take no more than 10 minutes to complete.
Reads directly off of the slides each class, print them out to take notes on. She gives 4 tests and a final, the tests are tricky (use biology companion website to study) but the final is cumulative and easy. Going to her office hours shows her you care about your grade, it helps!
I like biology alot but this class was ridiculous. I went to every lecture and there were questions on the test that weren't covered in lecture. I studied a week before each exam and got an 80 on every test. 84 on the final(there was a curve). Lecture was beyond boring and lab final was pretty difficult too. I do not recommend this teacher AT ALL
This class in general is tough, especially if you haven't had AP bio, or a 100 level bio course like me, but Nobel-Harvey wasn't all that bad. Her exams are basically from the powerpoints, although reviewing the book is helpful. She also sneaks in some humor into her mostly boring lectures. Overall, not a bad professor at all.
She is very nice. But you either do really well, or terrible. Her exams are very TRICKY...almost like Bio word problems. She is very unhelpful. After hours of studying and no test improvement she only said "oh well that's a shame." and left it at that. very rude even if you're trying and struggling. Huge confidence loss from taking her class.
Class is hard. Noble-Harvey is nice, but she is not a great professor. Lectures are very boring, and she can be rude when asking for help. Exams are straight off the lecture notes. However, there is a lot of material covered and you have to know everything. If you’ve had AP bio, the class is going to easier, but I do not recommend this professor.
This professor seriously got on my nerves. I averaged 90s on the tests and still ended up with a B thanks to her stupid activities (she doesn't tell you what you did wrong just gives you a terrible grade), her poor lab TAs, and the fact that the grading is absurd. An 88 is a B, an 89 is a B+, a 90 is an A-, and a 91 is an A. See the problem?
Dr. Noble-Harvey is one of my favorite professors I've had at the university. This class is problem-based, so it's incredibly interesting and engaging. She is really funny and kind; she does have high expectations, but that's because she believes that her students can do the work. Would you want a professor who thought you were stupid?
Tests are fair and relatively easy if you study all your notes and read the chapter. She is an extremely sweet woman, and very quirky. Sometimes she might not be too clear, her power points are all you need for the exam. Use the textbook to back up anything you dont understand.
Terrible Professor. She can't teach and her voice is annoying in my opinion. She's unclear and her tests are tricky. Print the powerpoitns out before you go to class, it helps. Wouldn't be so hard if you took AP bio in highschool.
She is very unique to say the least. Honestly can either be the rudest person or nicest person, and that depends on how you treat her. Be nice, study hard and an A is not out of reach. Always go to class for assignments and do not overlook them as easy points. 50 MC questions on all 3 exams, 100 MC on final. Lab is easy, yet hard to get 100's
Nice lady. Is clear in lectures and is patient with those who have questions. Tests require you to take very good notes, b/c detailed exams. Only used the book once for a quiz. Only brutal parts of the class are the lab and final(cumulative). Lab is brutal for a mistake can impact experiments that take weeks to finish. Also, agar is limited.
While the tests were sometimes a tad tricky, the depth and breadth of material covered was honestly pathetic. Noble-Harvey goes infuriatingly slowly and gets off topic very easily. Unfortunately I expected to learn a lot more in this class. Good choice for BISC207 if you are lazy and like multiple choice.
She's a funny lady. Quirky and talkative too. The material is challenging, but she's very helpful at office hours, and exams are intense but cover the material from the power points. The book helped clarify, but you could get by with just studying the powerpoint. Interesting class. Worth taking if you're curious about bacteria haha
Teaches directly from the textbook. Slides in class are figures from the textbook which she talks about, so writing what she says is the only way to get notes. Tests are very specific and often touch on extremely minute details. Will not answer questions during exams, instructs you to "write your question on the front of the exam"
DO NOT TAKE! Horrible teacher, gets confused with her own powerpoints and leaves you confused after her class. AVOID AT ALL COST
Difficult to understand in class because she kind of rambles. Tests are EXTREMELY detail oriented to the point where its ridiculous. Everything on her tests is what she says in class from Powerpoints. I didn't have a strong biology background so reading the textbook really helped me out. Three tests and a final but the final was not too difficult.
I hate this professor so much! I went to her to ask her what else I could do to study besides read the chapters and she responded with "Why did you read the chapters, that's a waist of your time" Needless to say test material was completely based on the chapters in the book. Thanks for failing me Jane :) It's only my GPA
Lectures arent helpful at all, have to outline the whole textbook for the exams. Says she only puts what is talked about on the test but thats a complete lie. Cant ask questions during the exam and you write them on the front and she answers them afterwards? pointless. Had to work really hard for an A. I love bio but hated this class.
She is a horrendous professor. I do not recommend that anyone takes this class. She gets confused by her own slides and claims that she won't put things not discussed in class on the exam which is a completely false statement. She isn't helpful to students and spends majority of her class giggling to herself over nothing. Don't take this class.
worst teacher I have ever had. very unclear, your grade relies only on lab and a total of four exams. The tests aren't EXTREMELY difficult but you you are paying to teach yourself. She is very unhelpful and recommended that I talk to a wall to help me study. DO NOT TAKE
She really isn't all that bad as everyone is making her out to be. Yes, she isn't very helpful but if you talk to her one on one she is actually very nice. Although her PPs are all pictures which is hard, she talks so much during lecture which helps so much if you write it down. these people probably just studied with the PPs which is stupid
Absolutely horrible. DO NOT TAKE HER. DON'T DO IT. Her lectures are dry, tons of material to know, and the test questions are super specific, off of the most minute details. Only reason I got the good grade was because of the hours and hours and HOURS of studying, good lab grade, and luck. Never again. Never, ever again. Take literally ANYONE else.
Dr. Noble-Harvey asks very confusing questions on her exams. They're all multiple-choice, so there's no chance of partial credit. She tells you not to read the textbook because she doesn't teach everything in it, but I found the book more helpful than her lectures. Her grading scale is ridiculous and she doesn't drop or replace your lowest exam.
Her quirky personality made lecture more fun. Can get as low as a 91 for an A which was pretty sweet. Didn't take notes during class. Just go through the slides multiple times a few days before the exam (averages 80; 2 50-MC tests and final) Although we're not used to long labs, this one was worth it. Would recommend to Bio majors pre-meds.
i wish i had a different teacher.
legit would have rather graduate a semester late than take her class. she is HORRIBLE. ask anyone else, they will tell you the same thing. You can study for hours and hours and she will still pull stuff out of her ass (that you've barely learned) and put it on the test. One of the averages for my test was a 55%. FOR A GENERAL BIO COURSE. stay away
Unclear as to what material is relevant which makes studying VERY challenging. Students are advised to review powerpoints but are filled with pictures & unhelpful comments. Review sessions have not been helpful. Very ambiguous with explanations yet expects more. Little to NO clarification. VERY disappointed. Would NOT take again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Jane Noble-Harvey has no basic knowledge of biology or science in general. She didn't know what Van der Waals forces was and cannot answer simple questions. I did better in my organic chemistry class than her intro to bio course because the questions on her exams are not clear and she does not explain anything.
This class has difficult tests, but if you study the information and understand it versus memorizing, you should do fairly well. Reading before class is very helpful. Three difficult tests and a final. Tests are curved. All material covered in lecture is fair game for the test unless she says that she doesn't want us to know it.
Best advice is to not take her course, if you want to learn, have an interest in Biology and/or care about your grades.
In case you couldn't tell by all the other reviews, she is horrible. In class the material seems easy, but the tests are like mind games, deliberately trying to get you to answer wrong. The labs aren't bad but require extra work outside of class. If you have to take bio, please find another professor so you will actually learn something.
Don't buy the book. Just go to lecture and take notes/study the slides. This class was easy if you study. Nothing on the exams that isn't covered in lecture. The complaints about confusing exams are probably coming from the students in class shopping for clothes on their laptops or on FB during the lecture. Exam ?'s are easy if you know the info.
She is a horrible teacher. Does not curve anything. Doesn't show up to office hours. No sense of humor. Incredibly annoying. Puts you to sleep in her lectures. I would definitely not take her again. Oh, and she has a habit of spontaneously cancelling class but won't move any deadlines. DO NOT TAKE IF YOU VALUE YOUR GPA OR WANT TO LEARN SOMETHING!
Do not take if you value your sanity and GPA. She will literally laugh at your questions in office hours. She ridiculed us once cause she gave two days to study for a quiz and none of were taught anything on it from her.(not that it would help).
Terrible would be an understatement for this professor. Lectures are boring, and ridiculously confusing. I would recommend reading the chapters assigned, as they do help clarify some aspects. Lab test was impossible. She cancelled class 4 times over the semester, and even stated that she "was not available evening hours or weekends" for questions.
DO NOT TAKE. RUINED GPA
Probably one of the worst professors I've ever had. Lectures are extremely dry and boring, and most of the time she doesn't even know what she is talking about. I learned by just reading the textbook because she made no sense, and even with excessive studying, the exams are impossible. I would not recommend her at all.
Literally the rudest professor I ever had. Threatened to send people out of the room for asking a question or having some disagreement with what she says. She could never explain anything that were on her slides. I didn't get the grade I wanted but that because I didn't study very hard but if you just read the textbook the tests are pretty easy
Lectures are pretty pointless, and the class is very diffciult. It really comes down to how well you can memorize what was taught in the book. Exams are sorta bunched together and are very specific and difficult. There's also a lab exam that was relatively difficult. Lots of work to do well, and by well I mean B.
Lecture are very boring and she is very bad at explaining things. Tests are fairly easy if you've taken bio before.
Easily the worst professor I have had here. Class is pointless, you learn more from just the textbook. She is rude, and unhelpful. Exams are very difficult, and she tries to trick you on questions. Do NOT take her if you absolutely do not have to.
Very difficult. The class is basically the book, and her exams are very specific so they're pretty difficult. It's a lot of work you need to do to do well. There's also a lab exam which is a substantial amount of the lab portion of the grade. Try to get another teacher. Read the book and take good notes, lecture is a waste of time.
