She is nice, but her idea of teaching about Piaget's theories on conditioning is talking about a dog she once had named Piaget....anf her tests are ridiculous....yuck
No Comments
She is a nice lady who is very understanding and tries to help you out if she can. However, I find myself being very bored in class and I don't take many notes. Basically I just read the book to learn what I need to know.

She's a nice lady. I just wonder if we'll get a copy of the book where all our un-returned homeworks probably went into
She is a nice women, but she is incredibly boring. She rambles on using hard-to-understand words and expects you to write down what she says. The tests are very long and hard. She gave us a test recently that had 90 questions from 6 long chapters!
I hate going to this class because it is so incredibly boring. 7 essays are assigned for each test and it's nuts. The tests are so hard too. I wouldnt choose her again if I had to.
I ended up teaching my self thru the book because i gave up learning in class to scattered to follow. Not alot of work but the test made up for it.
A human bobblehead doll. she talked more about getting her phd in texas and some girl who made up her own language than anything else. weird, but really nice and goodhearted.
Lecture's aren't worth anything. If you read the book, do your papers, you will do fine. A very nice lady, but also very weird.
good teacher...rambles on about her life...easy tests...weird lady but so nice! take her class!
she sucks. you have to teach yourself everything, tests are so hard, i would never ever take her again
nice teacher, but not all that helpful. takes a long time to reply to emails and questions. tends to ramble off hard words / def's + not write it down on the board. you'll learn a lot though!
weird class, lectures were pointless, so just read the book and use the study guide and you should be ok, she was hard to follow in lectures and takes a long time to hand back tests
She's a nice lady but the lectures teach you nothing. She rambles on about the strangest things.
She's a very nice lady. Sure she tells stories, but at least the class wasn't bad. Her tests are simple enough if you study.
Great Professor. Doesn't reiterate what's in the book...and her stories connect to the material in an indirect fashion. Too smart to be teaching though, which makes it tough to understand all the logic.
OKay I have had this prof for three other classes and will take any one she teaches. She is the nicest teacher and the biggest pushover. She lectures on nothing so bring your book and do the notes in class. Do the essay questions they are straight fwd and easy!!! I love her!!
shes a nice lady and an easy grader, she does ramble about her life more than she teaches, but i would take her again and u should too!
She's great on tests. you never have to listen to her cause she teaches from the book. When you try to take notes she confuses you cause she goes off topic easily and always talks about HER experiences, and HER ways, and HER accent
tests are a little difficult but she grades easy. hard to take notes because she rambles and tells all kinds of stories, but tells you what to expect on the test chapter by chapter, and you can study it right from the book. not a lot of homework, plus chance for xtra credit
Honestly, I practically fell asleep in her class each day and i didn't read the book and i still got a good grade! shes great
just read the chapters. she does a lot of talking. just reading and studying really nothing more nothing less
She never hands the homeworks back, tests take forever to get back and there are only a few of them. All homework assignments and any take-home essays are done through Blackboard. Tests are long and so are the questions themselves. She goes through the chapters fast too.
she is the worse professor, talks too much abotu her personal life....and very unorganized...take Olivares....he's the best
Her take home essays and case study questions are long developed questions. She's nice, but very boring and her tests seem to get harder.
She doesn't lecture from the text, but is very clear as to what is going to be on the exam. She grades fairly and makes the material interested. Has very interesting stories that somehow relate to the material, which is clear to see if you have half a brain. I am taking her again next semester for another class. A very nice woman! Highly recomended
Lots of take home essays on top of 50 MC questions on the test BUT I wrote the essays word for word out of the book and got full credit for them. She admitted that she doesn't even read them. Lots of work but my kind of test!!! Take her! Boring but not that bad.
takes attendance seriously, she's nice but the class is rather boring. She talks a lot about nothing. Tests are very EASY
I love dr nugent! her classes are great! I had her for another class, as well. Too bad she doesn't teach others. Make sure you go to class and read the book! Tests are easy! Case studies are fun! Take home essays are a great boost to your grade, too. She is sooo nice and always has great stories to tell! Take her!
hard. no idea wtf shes talking about. dont take her. its so boring and attendance is critical. horrible.
Child, Adolescent, and Abnormal Psych. I have never had such a wonderful teacher before. She's fair, understanding, and has a great sense of humor. The first time I had her, I felt so lost during her lectures, she likes to tell stories about her expirience as a clinician. Once you can follow her, she is beyond great, highly recommened!!!
very hard tests
very informative esp. about jobs in the field!
She is a very nice lady, but unless you go out of your way to study like crazy ans seek tons of extra help you will be lost. She lectures all class and her lectures are very hard to understand, she usually just talks about her god children. The tests are ok, but the information she tells you to study usually isnt even on the tests.
She is a very nice lady, but her lectures are all over the place. Hard to take decent notes. Her wording on test can be very confusing. Don't study just main definitions, refer to examples.
Very nice woman, but did not like her class. Her lectures didn't make much sense and were all over the place. Tests questions were confusing at times, and she put in questions that she told us she wouldn't. Tests were hard because they covered a few chapters (200-300 pages). I learned nothing and wasted my time on a class that could've been useful.
Her lectures are a bit confusing to follow at first, but once you understand her connections with the reading she is very good.
her lectures are really hard to follow, always unclear. tests are really difficult. awful, awful class.
VERY BORING. She is old, and is showing signs of having parkinson's disease. Her head shakes 247. She is very nice, seems like an awesome grandmother. Tests are HARD. Her class is the same every day, and she is impossibly to listen to. Even if you listen, you hear the same things every day. DO NOT take this class unless absolutely necessary!
to be honest it seems sort of like.....sort of like a psychosocial perspective....I watched the patriots game and I thought....every Tuesday I play poker....and students tend to think that my lectures are hard to follow, but in all reality....if you look at it from a biological perspective my dad always said that I should hate Catholics...
If you read the text prior to class, she is pretty easy to follow. Specifically, becuase does not recite what is in the text, but gives examples to better understand the material. She is really nice & does the best for her students to suceed, understand, & get the most. Plus, she really likes what she does!
Cannot understand anything she talks about. She just usually talks about anything and everything that is on her mind. Hardly ever refers to the information in the book and expects you to understand everything in the book.
You NEED to read in this class. If you don't, you will be lost. Her tests are hard even if you study a lot. She doesn't grade anything until a month later, and she is boring. Overall, only take her if you have to.
She is a pointless professor....always blabs about nothing!!! just rely on the text book..typical thing she'll do is talk about nothing and when its time for the test she just gives u a million pages to read! loves case studies and never gives u a grade for the homework until the end of the semester..don't take her unless u have to.
AWESOME professor! She'll do everything in her power to help you get an A & is very toughtful and caring, especially if something major is going on in your life outside of school - she'll be more than willing to help you out! Attendance is a must but if you have an excuse for being absent it won't count.
hard to follow in class...tests are hard.. read!!! its ur only hope! :)
she'll never get blackboard going no matter how much she says it! She has her moments of clarity BUT her tangents can stretch to the point of irrelevant babble... then when the time comes for exams OMG so hard!
OMG she is rediculous! There are no comprehendable words that flow from her mouth! DO NOT TAKE HER! At all costs take another professor. Going to class is pointless, it will only confuse you more. GET THE BOOK and READ! Thats the only way to pass this class. I am so dissapointed. She shreds any interest of the topics with her meaningless blabber!!
If you are taking a psych course, take Dr. Nugent. She is absolutely lovely, crystal clear, extremely nice, funny and resourceful. She is very dedicated to her job and students.
I had her for abnormal psych.. attending her class is pointless, although she does take attendence... I learned absolutely NOTHING from her lectures, READ the book to know what she is babbling about. She goes off topic, is unorganized and NEVER emails you back! Its impossible to take notes on her lectures because she is not comprehendable!
Not the easiest class ever, and that is mostly because her lectures teach nothing. She goes on about nothing a lot of the time. Later in the semester it gets more interesting as she gets into things that have to do with her field, but the first half is completely useless and boring. Lectures are very drab and off topic. Big sports fan.
AWESOME...Although if you arent serious about psych and you dont tent to read the book you will fail ...
She was absolutely terrible as a professor. She was a nice lady, but her lectures were an hour of nothing. She rambles and constantly shows up to class late. Her tests are extremely tough and I suggest taking another professor if you have the chance.
Never stays on topic.Never Organized.Likes to change assignments at the last minute.Never grades assignments in a timely maanner. Her lectures are piontless. Your better off reading the book, but even then her tests are still tricky. Nothing she does makes any sense. And I tried going to her office hours. Big waste of my time.
She is a terrible teacher and I would NOT recommend her at all. Her lectures are so useless, I taught myself. If you don't read along and follow the study guide you will fail. her tests are hard and the only thing that helped me were essay questions. However, attendance is mandatory and she talks about random things during class.
Worst professor I have had in my time so far at BSU, probably won't have another one that bad. Lectures are never on topic, talks about her life story with each detail but won't with information needed for class. DO NOT RECOMMEND.
She's a very nice lady but a bad teacher. She talks about pointless stories that have nothing to do with the class. When she's going through her powerpoint she goes very quickly and has you teach yourself on x amount of chapters by reading the book. (so in order to pass, the book is necessary) I don't recomment this teacher
She is very distracting and goes off on random tangents off topic, it make it hard to follow.
Literally the worst teacher I have ever taken. She makes zero sense and never stays on topic.
Had to switch my double major cause of this professor. Nice woman but rambles on topic. Had to learn from a tutor and the book. Got C's and D's on tests, but will help you if needed and give extra credit.
I don't understand any of these ratings. Her lectures are a little hard to follow but I taught myself from the book the day before the test and literally finished with over a 100. She's also really sweet and gives TONS of extra credit
I was very afraid to take her after reading reviews but I went with it anyway. She uses slides directly from the book and rambles on about who knows what. She gives study guides for exams, I barely took notes and I fell asleep half the time. Nice lady, she offers LOTS of extra credit but barely responds to email. I got an A. Take at your own risk.
She is a very nice professor! One of the nicest I have had, but not at all clear in her teaching, or even on topic with her discussions or assignments. Asking for clarity usually results in being more confused
Super nice, has a ton of experience in the field which she shares in class. Lectures are clear and interesting, she gives take home questions for the exams that can boost your grade 30 points if you work on them. Read the book and go to class and it's an easy A.
If you want to spend an hour wasting your time, this is the class for you. Professor Nugent babbles on about nothing and expects you to understand everything for her tests which are extremely difficult if you don't study in advance. The textbook is the only thing that kept me alive in this class. She's nice but I'd suggest taking another professor
If you can''t learn from a textbook don''t take this class Her lectures are more like rambling stories that make no sense. I got an A in this class because I taught myself from the book. She is a very sweet woman but doesn''t know how to teach. Her tests are all multiple choice and she gives you an outline of exactly what it will be on.
Dr. Nugent can be a little hard to follow, but her humor and love for the subject make up for it. She is not quick to grade papers, and expect little feedback, but if you do the work and read the book you will do fine.
DO NOT take this class unless you are prepared SOLELY read the text to study for exams. Nice lady, definitely an expert in the field but her lectures are 100% nonsense. Tests were easy if you memorized whats in the book. Put effort into all of her online writing assignments and you'll be OK. Can't stress enough that you must READ THE BOOK!!!!!
Dr. Nugent is an expert in her field. The psychology of personality course is very conceptual so you need to thoroughly understand the theories and concepts presented. She is a very nice lady and is always available if you need extra help. She wants her students to do well. There is a lot writing for this class, but she is a VERY fair grader.
Very kind woman, definitely has experience in the field. A little frogetful. Had the same exact class(same examples and chose the same students for the same examples) once. Shakes her head and hands a lot which can be distracting. Close to retirement?
In general PSYC100 is an info heavy course but Professor Nugent does a pretty good job at breaking everything up. I recommend staying ahead and reading before class and doing the notes so you can just pay attention in class and follow along. She is super caring and provides great examples. She does ramble sometimes but so does everyone I guess.
The worst professor I've had at BSU so far. She's is really knowledgeable about the field, but is super hard to follow during lectures. Lectures are boring and completely irrelevant. I taught myself everything. Material comes straight from the book. Also super rude and not helpful. She is very unclear about the criteria. Overall, I hated her.
Such a sweet lady and she is SO accommodating if you miss an assignment. Lectures are hard to follow but her stories can be interesting. Not a bad class and super easy tests. No cumulative final, just an essay.
Really disorganized. Had four tests and I passed only one with a C. She gives study guides and extra credit. I passed.
She is the most confusing professor I have ever had. Nothing she says makes any sense and her "lectures" are all over the place and are complete nonsense. If you have the option to, do not take this professor. If you're left with no choice, then you need to read every chapter of the textbook and basically teach yourself the material.
She's a smart professor with tons of experience which is probably the class consists of her going off tangents. I went to class once a week and taught myself everything from the book because I didn't get anything out of going to the lecture. She does give extra credit which helps boost your grade. exams are half take home half multiple choice.
Honestly worst professor I ever had , literally. It is so hard to get a hold of her via email, calls you by the wrong name if she remembers it. Most of the time she talks about herself and you kinda self teach yourself. Read the book and her PowerPoints and you should be fine grade wise.
She goes off topic often. Lots of personal examples because shes been in the field for a long time. Shes a nice person but her tests are difficult (almost everyone failed the first test). Shes not the worst professor Ive ever had but you have to put the work in to get a good grade in this class.
love her!!!! no in class tests!!! only take home questions and application assignments, both of which actually help you learn and understand the material. she always forgets to take attendance so you can skip & all notes are online!
Read the book/teach yourself or you wont pass. I used our 50 minute classes to do homework for other classes because her lectures were impossible to follow. There was no point in even trying to take notes because she was so off topic and all over the place. Very disorganized and does not upload grades until weeks after they are submitted.
She is very experienced and respected, however she does go on tangents that are not related to the subject matter. She does provide the power-points used but they do not provide much explanation and she also does not explain the material. Reading the text isn't required but without it, odds are you will be confused and not pass the exams.
really liked this teacher. She talked a lot and moved through power points a little fast, but she is very experienced and very passionate about her teaching. She tries to connect everything learned about in the real world. She is very nice and cares about her students educations
Went off into little stories a lot. Takes major points of book section into power point.
She's got a lot of experience in the Psychology field but is very disorganized and hard to follow. Her directions aren't always clear and does not respect all of her students. It's hard to catch her after class. In my experience, I had to teach myself from the textbook and powerpoints.
Basically gained nothing from being in class besides getting points for mandatory attendance. She's knowledgeable, but her presentations are pretty incoherent. For every test/assignment I relied on teaching myself through reading the book and trying to make sense of the simple powerpoints she offers, made by the book company. Essay q's super vague!
DO NOT TAKE CLASSES WITH THIS PROFESSOR. She is very intelligent and experienced in the field of psychology. However, she is one of the most difficult professors to follow that I've ever had. She frequently goes off on tangents and her lectures are all over the place. I ended up having to teach myself through the course. Nice, but should teach.
Her class can be very difficult but if you figure out the best way to handle it you will be alright. She always gives study guides for tests which helps out a lot and also a portion of the tests are take-home. Her lectures are straight from a powerpoint and she tells a lot of stories. If you don't prepare for the tests you might struggle.
We didnt have many assignments at all. Most of them were tests and it looked just like an average homework work sheet. No multiple choice or short answer. I would take the information right from the book and still fail tests for no reason.
Knowledgeable in Psych field, but has difficulty conveying this knowledge to students. Is very kind, but struggled with use of technology which made online class very challenging. Tests were all short answer/ open response that came right out of the book. If you study the book and power points you will be fine.
This online class was frustrating. All book reading, no lecture. Quiz study sheets were given but glitches in canvas caused grading issues. Very high expectations on homework. Old school thought process, focused more on historical theory than current theory or solution based therapeutic interventions, not applicable. To save my 4.0 GPA I dropped.
If you like structure, she is not for you. Goes off on a ton of tangents, but I consistently learned something from them even when she got off topic. Your brain has to be as chaotic as hers to enjoy her class, but she's the best professor you'll ever have if you're cool with a lot of jumping around. She's completely disorganized in the best way.
Jane is very knowledgeable and caring about her students. The only thing is you will be confused about what she's talking about because she strays off topic often. GET THE BOOK, do every assignment (they're not difficult), and ask questions about what you're confused on after class and you will pass! I promise.
The class overall wasn't terrible but she did go off on a lot of unrelated tangents and was hard to understand at times. Assignments and quizzes were straight foreward and I finished the semester with an A. However, my grade was put into degree works as a D?? She is hard to get a hold of - my emails often aren't answered.
She is a very sweet lady, but I did not learn a single thing in that class. You basically teach yourself the material because her lectures are all over the place. That being said, it's an easy class. The assignments are quick to do and the exams aren't that bad. She is funny and nice, but don't expect to learn much.
