take good notes, three tests in all. answer all questions on the study sheet she gives you because you can use the sheet on the test. this is a very easy class, if anyone fails then they need a reality check. great professor

Great professor. Very clear on what she needs from students in class. She's so sweet, and very open about subjects being reviewed in class. If you fail this class or get anything lower than a B in her class you're just dumb. One of the best professors in QCC- and there aren't that many.

Jane Poulsen is such a nice lady, it is actually easy to intrest her lectures and is helpful with her students. It is not really a diffcult course, and she is very patient and polite towards the students which is a good thing. Highly recommened for writing intensive or the regular version.

The Best professor I ever had. Professor Poulsen is really good teacher since her writing intensive class consists of two papers, a midterm exam, and a final which is really easy and gives you a chance to revise the papers.She even answers any questions the students have and writes a lot of helpful notes, take her since she is the best.

Professor Jane Poulsen knows how to be nice to her students and she practices it at every class. Her middle-name should be Virtue. Her notes are outsindingly clear, concise, and to the point. Her only negative is that by being so good, she makes most other professors look bad by comparison. I would definately love to take more of her classes.

Jane Poulsen taught the class clearly for the students to understand and the discussion were very intresting to get involved in. There is always a review sheet before the exam and that's exactly what is on the exams and final. I really learned a lot about social behavior, and looking foward to having her again in Criminal Justice.

A really great professor that makes the class experience enjoyable. I will admit that taking her again for a 2nd time for Criminal Justice is rather intriguing. Teaching style is the same just like in Sociology with review questions for the exams which makes it easier to study. The best part is that she is polite and friendly towards the students.

I am really hoping taking Jane Poulsen again for Criminal Justice this time around. I find learning about the different concepts and theories of law to be rather exciting. There are plenty of opportunities to pass with three exams and three extra credit assignments. Very organized and easy to understand.

One of those class in which you are never bored. I was amazed how quickly 50 minutes can go in Poulsen's class, but she somehow manages to do so. I had a blast and others will enjoy her laid back teacher style.

I must say she is a extremely kind. I was constantly late for class and have excessive absences, but still manage to get an A! that's very kind of her. just copy her note and study, her note is extremely helpful for the tests. then, you will do fine.

Jane Poulsen truly is a wonderful human being. She doesn't count attendance in her class. Her review sheets for the exams are extremely helpful, which makes studying in her class much easier. She is wonderful for both Sociology and Criminal Justice. I recommend taking her since you learn a lot and I still remember what she taught.

I also wish that she taught other classes than Sociology and Criminal Justice since she teachers her classes very well and is organized. You never get bored in this class and even gives extra credit. F. 2011. Well organised, text books are requirements... not to bring to class of course. Since this is a WI course, be aware of the fact that you have to write papers(CHOICES GIVEN) And yes... study! You'll do great...! Review Sheets are available.

One of the things I love about this teacher is that the reviews sheets is pretty much what will be on the exam. Her writing intensive class is pretty easy.

Poulsen was very clear with notes. Her tests were fair and it covered everything learned in class. She hated disturbances and disliked when students came in late. She gave extra credit only for the first test: a total of three tests. I suggest to study for her tests. Participate!

She's so nice!! She hates when you talk while she's speaking. Other than that, she's so funny and her tests are easy. She gives you a sheet of the questions on the test from the 1st day. Only 3 tests, super easy. Just need to study. RARELY used book. Only for readings, 3 or 4 times. Can photo copy from library. Highly recommend. Amazing dr!

She gives you a study guide which if you study, it is exactly like the test. There are two books she asks you to get but you only need to buy the smaller book that she compiled together. Nice and helpful. Definitely take her for an easy A!

I had Jane for the Fall 2007 and Fall 2008. She was one of the best teachers that I ever took at qcc. she is very kind and generous. Her review sheets for the exams were very helpful and gave extra credit. There was even a make up day for any exams missed which is something not done by other professors.

I love Jane Poulsen since she is such a wonderful lady. Her exams are based on her notes and she gives an excellent study guide which is pretty much the whole exam. There is also a make up day for those that missed any tests. Extra credit is also given as well.

She has all her lectures on blackboard, and her syllabus contains test study sheets for exams. Honestly she is one of the best professors at Queensborough. I took her last semester in Sociology, and I liked her so much, I took her again for criminal justice. Her lectures are amazing, and her tests are fairily easy, as long as you answer the questions on the study guide she gives you. I took her twice and would take her again if I could

She's very nice but since it's a huge lecture she doesn't have a chance to get to know the students personally, but overall it's a class worth taking if you need the credit. Her tests are a little challenging with the wording so you definitely need to study and she isn't harsh with attendance. Course material is pretty simple to comprehend.

Professor Poulsen is a fairly easy and great professor. Her classes were one of the most easiest and straightforward classes I took in Queensborough so far. All you have to do is show up to class, go over her lecture PowerPoints from class which she posts online, and score high on the 3 exams and 6 quizzes, which really boosts up your grade.

Professor Poulsen is a good professor. She is very helpful and makes the class interesting . The class wasn't hard and if you read the powerpoint you would be good. Also she gives 6 easy quizzes and drops the lowest grades. She is willing to help students and her lectures are fun and she made the class fun with a movie , videos , and fun topics.

Take home pop quizzes, It will always improve your grade! The exams just look at the syllabus and you will just passed! She does not give out homework it's just the take him quizzes. But you always have to print out the slides! You don't need to but, you should because she sometimes write important things on the white board! So catch that!

Professor Poulsen is absolutely awesome. She makes the topic of sociology seem extremely interesting and all of her lectures and what she teaches is relatable to the real world.

This was my first semester at Qcc. Yesterday was my Sociology final and I got an A. The professor is amazing. She is the best sociology professor at Qcc! 3 tests in total including the final, and weekly quizzes at home. Shes very heavy on lecture but make sure you catch everything. I didnt buy the textbook and I got a A- , shes super clear on her grading. We had 6 quizzes on blackboard ( theres no need to get less then 100 since you can keep taking them over and over) the lowest quiz grade is dropped. Theres two exams and one final. Also all notes on online, so youre not writing many notes and theres no homework!!!

Professor Poulsen will have you fall in love with both her and the topic of sociology. She's an easy grader and her charming personality and knowledge can help sprout a seed onto future sociologist. She relates real life situations into her lectures and we watch videos in class. I'd love to take her again and I'm sure you'll all love her as well.

She's a very fabulous person. Her exams are easy if you study and all of the work is easily relatable to real life situations and we even watch videos and even a movie. Would recommend her to those who needs a social science electives and I would personally take her again a 1000 times more.

It's an easy class and as long as you study ahead of each exam you should do fine. One great thing about this class it's that there's no homework and all the notes are on ppt slide. There are total of 6 online quizzes (drop lowest) there's no limit of how many times you can retake the quiz and 3 exams including final.

She was simply amazing, I loved going to her class!! If youre an incoming freshman(like I was) and need a feel of what college is like, take her. She posts PowerPoints on blackboard. She gives out a syllabus with every lecture and corresponding chapter in the textbook. Just come to class and skim through textbook and youll pass.

Super easy class if you take good notes. Pretty straightforward lectures and easy tests. Gives 30 questions on the tests and six quizzes with the lowest score dropped. If I could I would definitely retake this prof. Gives review guide and basically all the information is on there or just plain common sense.

She is really good. You understand the material clearly with her. Her tests are almost the same thing as her study guide. She gave us three test. Also, she gave us 5 quizzes which theyre from readings she makes you read. So they super easy. Take notes in her class.

I definitely would take her again if I could �� I didnt become close to her much but her lectures were very clear and engaging. You understand topics more as she sets example that are relatable. Amazing professor explained everything really really well got me interested in socy. When the pandemic hit and we suddenly transferred online during the spring 2020 semester, the class became async but still an easy pass.

No lecture when online, she seems like a really nice professor pretty easy work, do it before the due date and you will be fine. Work is super light and actually very interesting discussion boards 10/10 teacher. Would take her 20 more times if i could lol.

I took this as an online course and Dr. Poulsen had the semester very organized. She provided a powerpoint each week for every lesson and all tests were based on her provided powerpoints. There were no papers, only 3 exams (nothing cumulative), and discussion boards for each new lesson. She communicates through email and responds quick. Take her!

Dr Poulsen is very easy-going and respectful to her students. This class is easy to pass as long as you STUDY, take notes, complete all 5-6 pop quizzes (online) and get a 60 or higher on exams (2-3) which she provides a study guide. The lectures are the notes that are provided online but she explains them further so we can remember and understand.

Honestly her class is very light as long as you study for the exams. The quizzes are easy to do online and she drops the lowest quiz grade if you miss one! She is very nice and understanding so I recommend you take her for SOC101

I took Soc101 for Spring 2023 online with professor Poulsen. We had weekly DBs, quizzes and tests. A book was required, but her PowerPoint slides are enough to prepare for the tests. We had 6 quizzes/10q each based on articles and 3 tests/34 questions each based on PowerPoint slides. With just a little bit of reading, you could get an easy A.

By far my favorite professor. Her lectures (slideshows) are easily accessible and her study guide helps with the exams she gives (3). She posts reminder announcements to turn in work (god bless her). Her work is organized and it's easy to find lectures and whatever is due that week. Highly recommend her class.
