She's a great teacher. Doesn't give tests just essays, which by the way are easy to do.
she was an awesome teacher. It was a pleasure to be in her class, she's super nice and smiles all the time and class wasn't too hard but i still learned a lot. she has a great point of veiw.
She's great! I would take her for all my English classes if I could.
Excellent teacher. she makes you think! All you do is write 4 papers about 4-5 pages each. no tests, there are random quizes but she hints about them. i have taken her twice now. i got an A both times. shes young and hip
SHE'S KEWL AS ICE
Very passionate and knowledgable. The nicest, happiest and most amazing english teacher at Armstrong. Loved her class, essays are fun and can be rewritten. Good reading assignments. Easy on the eyes too. If you try you can make an A or B easy.
she helps a lot and os very outgoing
Rago is soooo cool. We only have 4 papers throughout the WHOLE semester. NO MIDTERMS and NO FINAL. She is really cool. But u can only miss 5 days then u get in trouble and try not to come in 30 minutes after class starts, she gets kinda annoyed!!! u should take her!!!!
very easy grading, she doesn't believe in test, quizzes, finals, etc. awesome teacher!
She is a wonderful teacher. Likes discussions and is normally very easygoing. Also very helpful if you miss a class in getting work to you. There are 5 essasys but you get lots of time in class to work on them and peer edit.
very nice and helpful. enjoyed coming to class
She's smart, funny, thoughtful, helpful, and sexy. Loved her class and now have HUGE crush on her.
Great lady, first professor I had on the first day of classes. Knew I would like her in the first 5 minutes. Very relaxed and speaks on a equal level with the students. Makes the class something to look forward to in the day just because of her personality alone. No tests, quizzes, or finals. Flat out grades. Great advice.
AMAZING PROFESSOR!! I have had her for 1101 and 1102 and made A's in both. She loves it when you get involved with the lectures and ask questions. She gives 4 papers throughout the semester and a couple of reads. There are NO tests!! I absolutely recommend that everyone should consider taking her class.
One of my all time favorite teachers and one of the coolest people on campus. She's really kooky but funny and a great teacher. She only asks that you attend class and do work and you WILL get an A. I still have a great relationship with her and can't wait to take her again!
Best teacher on campus. She will get you thinking & talking. She creates such a great classroom environment. I will miss her class so much...if you can, TAKE HER!!
Just had her for "Major Author." We read everything written by Toni Morrison. Can't stand Morrison, but Jane Rago is a delightful and obviously highly intelligent (genius level IQ, I suspect) young woman. Her surprising naivete about the South and Southerners is quite amusing, but she'll learn. I have no doubt she will mature into a Conservative.
RAGO IS FANTASTIC! I took her for ENGL 1102, 2000, and will be taking her this semester for 2100! She is super energetic and personable. She makes you look forward to class and gets you thinking and talking. If you have the opportunity you should definitely take her class!
She's a great teacher, and there are no tests. The due dates are somewhat lenient (which is unheard of). There are a lot of different options for each assignment, which leaves room for creativity. She's fun and funny.
Jane was an awesome professor. She has a pleasant personality, is super intelligent, and motivates her students to think. She encourages people to consider issues from a variety of different perspectives and leaves assignments open for your own ideas and creativity. She's energetic and loads of fun.
Wow, Jane rocks. She will be my choice for several classes in the next few years. I learned more about critical thinking and my own writing abilities in 4 weeks compared to 4 years of high school. She is funny, extremely intelligent, and nice to look at. Im in love.
Comment.
Best english professor. I never liked english and she made me like english. I learned more about critical thinking. Very helpful and extremely nice. Would love to take her again. Recommended!!
Jane was amazing, best professor ever. The essays are really easy, and she spaces the out well. She's really funny and tries to make the class interesting. She relates things to real life, and has a hippy-esque demeanor. No one could dislike her.
Jane is awesome. She is so nice and very funny. There is never a dull moment in her class. She does not give tests, just essays that are very reasonably spread out. She is very helpful and explains things well. She likes for you to be involved with class discusions. I would recommend her to anyone. Take her if you can!
Dr. Rago is so cool she is very fun to listen to and her class is pretty easy. She is very strict on attendence but usually you never stay in class the full time anyway. Take her and you won't regret it!!
Ms. Rago is incredibly knowledgeable, yet thoroughly helpful and approachable. Her dedication to English and teaching are inspiring. I would recommend any of her classes to anyone.
Dr. Rago is amazing. She has a great Bohemian vibe that makes it a joy to go to her class. She does not believe in test and only assigns you essays (which are equally spaced throughout the semester) and easy homework which is typically to read and write about it. I love her and would advise anyone to take her if you get the chance.
Best Professor I've ever had. Has a "blonde": bubbly persona: but don't let that fool you. She is one of the most intelligent ppl you will ever meet. You better read the short stories or pages she assigns though: she gets pissed if u come to class unprepared! Class atmosphere is very relaxed, but structured. Everyone's opinion counts. Recommend.
Dr. Rago is BRILLIANT! She is so passionate and great. Very far left, though...
I really enjoyed Dr. Rago's GWST class during the Spring The class discussions were mind-blowing! She always came to class prepared and energetic to teach.Dr.Rago would take the time to listen your point of view even if she does not agree with you. I highly recommend her to students. My writing and critical thinking skills have improved a lot!
I LOVED THIS CLASS!!! I've always hated english in high school, but she makes everything (including essays) come natural. She is strict on attendance, but I loved coming to class...plus she sometimes lets class off early.
Professor Rago is the BESTTTTTTT! No one is betta. She teaches mostly all of the Englishes their are. I took her for 1101 and im taking her next semester. Her class can get DEEP!. She even go out her way and take her classes out, outside of the school. U will talk about any and EVERYTHING.! She always u to curse and all. RAGO RAGO RAGO RAGOOOOOOO.!
She is a GREAT teacher. Anyone who needs to take a english class check her class first to make sure they arent filled! Her grades are fair and she will help you out with you paper. Her step up is straight foward and you will enjoy the in class debating sessions! I am a shy person but, not in her class! Need a good teacher? I say, RAGO RAGO RAGO!
RAGO IS A FANTASTIC TEACHER. SHE TEACHES YOU TO THINK OUTSIDE THE BOX AND GO BEYOND WHAT THE WORLD HAS TAUGHT YOU. SHE ENCOURAGES YOU TO GO AND RESEARCH THINGS FOR YOURSELF AND ON TOP OF THAT SHE IS A VERY HELPFUL TEACHER THAT IS THERE FOR YOU TO TALK TO HER WHEN YOU NEED IT.
Like the rest of the reviewers said, Rago is smart, funny, and can be engaging, but.... Honestly, I walked away with nothing. I spent money on conversation I could have had anywhere with anyone. I think a lot of people are cool, but coolness doesn't make them good teachers.
I really enjoyed Dr. Rago's class because the class discussions were engaging. Every semester I pray I can take another class from her. Dr.Rago is a shining example of what a good teacher is.
Rago is the BEST English teacher EVER! I would recommend you to register for anything she teach. She's FUN, FUNNY, and very interesting. She made my 1101 experience a GREAT 1. Wanted to get into her 1102, but it got full quick.! NO test, NO finial, she hates grading. or 3 or 4 papers.
Great teacher! No tests or finals only essays...overall very easy class
I took her flex term for ENGL1101 and she was amazing! Best teacher ever-always interesting discussions regardless of the 3 hour class twice a week. She is tough on grammar, which she should be, and you write three essays with no tests or quizzes. Book was not the traditional Texting book, but Acting Out Culture, which was extremely thought provoking.
Dr. Rago is a unique instructor. Her classes are easy (I've taken her twice) in the sense that she requires no textbook use and only makes you read fiction she assigns in a lit class. She also doesn't give out tests, so you're graded entirely on the papers you write. What makes her unique is her method of teaching. Her class is very open.
I absolutely loved Dr. Rago's class. Lectures were mainly just class discussions over the assigned reading. She always made class enjoyable. There are only 4 papers you have to write, each of which are usually 3-5 pages. I highly recommend taking Dr. Rago for any English class.
She is a great teacher! Really funny too I recommend her to all.
Rago is probably one of the best English professors on the campus. She genuinely cares what you have to say and will respect you if respect is given. READ the books or at least get on sparknotes and come with something to say or she will give a pop quiz. GREAT TEACHER!!
She is probably the most profound english teacher I have ever had. She is respectful, considerate and quirky to say the least. She makes sure that you know your stuff and is genuinely concerned about you, your grades and persona as a whole. She will change you profoundly.
Possibly the best English teacher i'll ever have. Easy class with a really cool teacher. she knows her stuff and is full of great ideas. Honestly one of the best people to bounce ideas off. She's very open minded everyone should take her.
If you read what you are supposed to read, can write in coherent sentences, and like a sense of humor then Dr. Rago will be one of the best professors you can take a class with at Armstrong. She will always do all she can to help her students succeed. I had little interest in English classes before taking her for 1101, and she has changed that!
Best Teacher ever! Read, share Ideas, and you'll do good. She helps you with ideas before each paper. I am taking her again :)
Amazing professor. Easy classes not because the work is easy but because she is clear in what she expects, assigns, and returns. Always there to help, and enjoys free thinkers and light humor in work. Does not have patiences for people who clearly want to breeze through classes so be warned. But she is super easy going and fun to take.
Jane Rago is awesome so far! She is insightful and the majority of your class is deep interesting discussion. A CLASS WORTH TAKING!!!
Rago is a very good teacher. Very understanding and compassionate about her work and her students. The only thing I didn't care for were her very left wing/liberal ideas that were sometimes pushed on us. If she just sticks to the subject matter, she is awesome!!
Made me re-think how I do everything in life. Probably the most interesting class I've ever taken. Taking her again without a doubt.
By far one of my favorite professors. She doesn't assign busy work. She gives you work that will make you think and help you develop as a writer. Provides good feedback. Incredibly interesting teacher. Encourages discussion but participates and guides it. She is a must take!
Easy essay grader. Love her personality. Take her and you won't regret it.
I did not enjoy her class too well. She assigned vague papers that did not make sense. Also, she will say one thing and do another. MAKE SURE YOU HAVE IT IN WRITING IF YOU HAD A MEDICAL EMERGENCY. Gave me a crazy grade at first and I couldn't believe it. I felt betrayed. I did so well in that class. My grades in the class didn't match my overall.
By far my favorite class my freshman year! She is such an awesome teacher that makes her class super fun. She allows for her students to fully engage in class and is super relaxed about everything! I would definitely take her again if I could.
I originally took the class because it filled a credit; however, I am now really glad I did. She made gender issues interesting and I now plan on taking more gender classes.
Pretty liberal with social issues. While I'm also a liberal, I'm sure most people from Georgia wouldn't want to listen to her talk about the United Statesian worldview or the military-industrial complex. She doesn't give out a lot of grades, and the grades she does give out are usually papers that you can't BS.
Jane Rago is a remarkably inspiring professor. She makes class fascinating and her unconventional teaching style is a nice change from the usual lecture. I love her insight on politics and her eagerness to initiate conversations about social issues. I would take her every time.
She went off topic all the time. The class was about British literature and she kept turning into a gender studies course. I have nothing wrong with gender studies! That's just not the class that I took.
If your intent is to pay for an education rather than an indoctrination, I wouldn't recommend this course. Often expressed left-wing radical views on society that had nothing to do with the reading material. Does offer a lot of support outside of class. If you believe in conservative values and opinions, be prepared to support them.
Loved her. I took her as a summer course for English, so the reading material was fast paced. Class discussions over reading material were extremely helpful. Easy A if you stick to her criteria. As long as you show effort in your papers she is lenient on grading. And she's funny! I enjoyed her lectures, we got to watch movies and had treats.
She was pretty great! She expects participation, and for you to read and know what the text is saying, great professor!
She's pretty good! You have readings almost every night, but they are not bad at all. And you get 4 essays overall, which she gives you very good feedback. She is very funny, but lessons are usually about everything you don't normally think about and honestly don't care about. Overall it didn't terrify me into dropping out.
Prof. Rago is different than normal. She views things on a larger scale & expects you to view it like that too. There's only a total of 4 essays & as long as you follow her criteria you'll pass. She loves participation & there will be awkward silences waiting for people who won't speak to speak. Overall she teaches weird & its normal difficulty.
My favorite teacher, hands down. She is absolutely hilarious and her lectures are always very interesting and make you think. She turns class into a group discussion and really appreciates it when students talk and engage each other in debate. She relies heavier on critical analysis than actual composition, but it works well for her.
She is a great professor! Her class relies on 4 essays, and class discussions where she requires participation. You don't have to fully read the reading, just make sure you know what the general topic is about, and pick a quote. You can also bet class won't be the whole period, which is always nice.
Rago was a really good professor. We had 4 essays. 3 of them were topics that she gave us to write on, but we pretty much got to pick our own topic for the 4th essay. Reading what is assigned is a must. She's really into group discussions on the reading and seems to like you a lot more if you participate in them.
Dr. Rago is one of my favorite teachers I have taken at Armstrong. She always sees something that you would never see the first time around. She always makes the most boring of readings fun. Highly recommend and I plan on taking her again in the future.
Jane is a really good professor! She gives great insight and really opens up your eyes on things and really challenges your way of thinking. Honestly, I disliked her at first simply for that reason. I have grown to love her and she is super hilarious!
Take her. Excellent professor, actually cares about real things. 5 essays, no tests. If you dont do the readings, shell kick you out. Participate in class, or else shell get annoyed. Very inspirational and makes you think. Essays are over interesting topics, take this class. Plus, shes hilarious.
Dr. Rago is fun and energetic and is full of good vibes. Very chill and easy going and is open to new ways of doing assignments like turning in a video about an essay instead of a traditional essay. Very helpful and very passionate. She WILL challenge your ideas so be ready! Needless to say, i didn't like english before, but now I do.
Dr. Rago is super funny, laid-back, and really makes thinking about difficult topics enjoyable. She is definitely knowledgable about the topics she teaches. A lot of reading, but class is basically a discussion about what you read and how you feel. Does not give exams-only a couple easy opinion papers. No final exam.
Professor Rago is one of the best English professors I've ever had. She is super chill and laid back. There is a LOT of reading but it isn't difficult. She walks through the books and scales them down to where they are much easier to understand. Her reading responses are super easy and open ended. Amazing professor!
Dr. Rago was so sweet and laid back. Gave us extra time to read and often let class out early to read. However, there is a TON of reading (6 novels) for this course. 4 reading responses, a midterm paper, and a final paper. You can sparknotes and pass, but be ready to participate in class or youll fail.
Jane Rago is a good professor and is very good at communicating. She can be very vocal and wants class participation. For this class, we had to read multiple books and we did not get to read through them all. She hates the Armstrong and GSU merger and does talk a lot about it. She does allow you to make up assignments.
Dr. Rago is one of the most inspirational people I've ever had the pleasure to meet. I've taken four classes with her and it still wasn't enough. Take her class, you will not regret it.
Dr. Rago is a very down-to-earth professor who really encourages participation. If your shy just show up every day and you should get your high participation grade. 6 full novels are read, and around 5 papers are written but they really arent bad. BE SURE YOU READ, she tests you!
Dr. Rago was a great professor, and she didn't require a lot of reading to pass with an A. Her entire class is graded off of essays and discussions, but she is helpful if you aren't sure if your essay is going to get an A. She makes herself available through her phone and Zoom at almost any time you need help. I highly recommend taking her.
Dr. Rago is a great professor. She gives clear guidance about her expectations. She is socially liberal, but fair and respectful of dissenting viewpoints as long as you provide good support. She gives specific feedback which is very helpful. 4 pieces of literature; 3 quizzes; 3 reading responses; 2 papers; 3 discussions. Definitely take her class.
My favorite professor, keeps it real. Show up and do all of the assignments and you will pass. She is funny, cool, and smart. Lots of reading but the books are interesting and lecture is just class discussions.
Dr. Ragos course is everything Ive ever wanted from an English professor. She gives great feedback on papers, and the works she chose for us to read were incredible to discuss in class / continue to engage with throughout the semester. Highly recommend taking her if you appreciate an inclusive learning experience.
Easily one of my favorite professors! She is so nice and her discussions/analysis over our readings were interesting and made me want to engage. Definitely take her!
Love love love her probably my favorite professor ive had so far while at this school. very understanding while still holding you accountable.
Very good teacher, I would 100% take her again. You do have to read a lot, but it's not bad. She wants to make sure you do good and will meet with you if you need help. She is very funny and generous. I would take the class in person if you could so you can get a better understanding for writings.
She is awesome and a good professor
Dr. Rago is really funny and she navigates heavy topics well with her in-class discussions. You will have to read a lot, but she's an easy grader and gives good feedback. If you come to class and take part in the discussions you will pass. Be prepared to read some messed up stuff though.
jane is great! if you show up to class and read the material you will have a 100 and have a great time. the readings are at times hard and complex but you will get a lot out of them.
Provides very vague & open-ended writing prompts for essays; however, there is no DISTINCT grading criteria. A lot of smaller assignments that help prepare for the Midterm & Final Paper. I love everything she stands for. She is what comes to mind when I think "English professor." Only complaint is discussion posts & lack of feedback on my final.
