She is a very nice person, and can be helpful most of the time. But when it comes to grading, I would get very angry. We would turn in assignments and she will take weeks to get it back to us. She just takes WAY too long to grade. Also the lecutre its self is hard to follow. Other than that, she is very passionate about her subject and is very nice
Was a hard grader, took awhile to get course material back. Nice person but not a great teacher.
A very nice person! But the material itself and the lectures confusing... Was too hard for me.
Worst class I have ever taken.Lectures were long and hard to comprehend and the teacher was never available. She stressed that she has many other classes and would sometimes barely even make it to class on time herself because she was teaching at Cambridge right before. She would always take weeks to hand back our work/tests which is very annoying
Good teacher. Had her for Macro and took her again for Micro. Gives extra credit. Will throw out test questions if too many people get them wrong. She will help you if you need it you just have to ask. This is not an easy subject so if you go to class take notes and ask questions if you are lost you will do fine.
I took Micro with her and wanted to take Macro with her but she was teaching when I needed it. Go to class, ask questions and take notes. Very helpful and a very fair grader! I LOVED her! There is online homework that she will help you with if you ask. TAKE HER!!!
Is very kind and interacts with students. She will throw out questions on exams and assignments if the majority of students have problems with them, and is very fair at grading. Could grade things a little quicker though.
I didn't like the way she presented her lectures they are way too confusing. The worst thing about this class is that it takes her for ever to return tests/exams which is sooo annoying. We did our final exam without even correcting or getting back our previous test :(
Difficult teacher. Lectures are hard to follow. Slow to return test/papers. Up to three weeks before test scores are available. Class is unevenly weighted. 75% of your grade is based on the exams! Does not use D2L uses Aplia, which does not teach, it tests you on what you learned from lecture (nothing). Difficult teacher, I do not recommend!
Professor Ruliffson is one of the nicest professors I've had. She knows how to explain the concepts well, and is willing to help as much as possible. She uses a program called Aplia for homework, and if you can do the homework, then you will do fine in the class. She pushes homework back as necessary and goes over the tests. Have fun!
Very nice teacher, I did take the time to ask for help which paid off at the end. its a hard class. I made sure to have study buddies and groups for the last two tests. It is annoying because she doesnt have many graded assignments and tests are weighed very heavly. Her lectures are not good. you have to read the Book and take notes
no course syllabus as to what the day-to-day HW assignments/readings were required for quizzes/exams. Problem Sets assigned was the only homework, which were given a week before the quiz/exam and due on the the day of the quiz/exam. so we never knew if we did it right or wrong. took 3 weeks to hand graded materials back. Lectures were not helpful
She's a very inconsistent teacher. You never know how you did until a month later because she takes a long time to hand things back. Her lectures were very very dry and dull. She will help you outside of class but is often very busy.
This class requires a lot of self-teaching. She was slow to grade all of the homework assignments and exams and thus helpful feedback was almost non-existent. The lack of homework and exam details (both date and description) in the syllabus made it hard to prepare and do well in the class. She also told me to Google examples when I asked for help.
She is very nice and a lenient teacher, however grading takes forever, and lectures are vary dull.
Attendance not mandatory but encourage by quizzes that are only collected to provide extra credit for being in class. Approachable. Friendly. Makes fun to learn economics. No midterm.
boring. cannot explain anything and sounds confused when talking. curves every test and lets you have not sheets. sucky teacher
Boring teacher. Mostly self-teaching yourself. She helps outside of class, but is often busy. TAKES FOREVER TO GRADE. lectures are very dull.
Avoid having this teacher at all costs. Class is self-teaching. Super snooze fest, as she reads the powerpoints for you. Can't answer any of your questions, tests make no sense, and lacks the ability to stay consistent with coursework. She jumps around and is very confusing. Good luck!
Great professor, make the class interesting and easy to follow. Allow note cards for almost all exams. Free points for attendance.
She was not a good professor overall. She was all over the place with her lectures and what she tested on seemed 10 times harder than what she explained in class. The only positive was that she was very nice and willing to talk to you. Her office hours were not convenient so it made talking to her hard.
intro to microecon. is easy: show up to class, read your text and take notes and ALWAYS do aplia assignments before they are due.. dont worry youll do well if you use the book-there you can find the answers or examples to do these use the book for plia problem sets!! Lastly sometimes she lets you use a sheet of notes for tests if asked -true review
Attendance MANDATORY! Gives pop quizzes. Very understanding instructor and communicated extremely well through email or in person. Really knows her stuff and genuinely wants you to understand subject and make become something of yourself beyond her class. She will help you as long as you ASK QUESTIONS.
Her lectures are awful and she had her back to you the whole time.
She is a very nice lady, if you show up to her class and actually pay attention you should do fairly well. Don't take this class if you plan to slack off. I made the mistake of skipping a class and I missed out on some important info, but if you schedule a meeting with her she is willing to help. I enjoyed her class. I recommend her.
Class is useless. She basically reads you the textbook with no relevant explanations. You might never see your test grades and she'll always answer your question with a question. Class average is a 50%. Take a science class and you'll understand more about the economy.
Jane is honestly one of the most helpful teachers I've ever had. She is always willing to answer questions and provide feedback. She cares deeply for her students and wants us to succeed. Lectures are very informative and give you a different view of the world. There's no way you can try in this class and not have that reflected on your grades
Difficult tests unless you fully understand the material. Not concerned with specific details; ensures that you understand how it works and move on. Excellent course to prepare young students for a University setting. Difficult topic, well-explained.
Great professor,do the reading if you want to pass. Theres homework online, refer to the book, it helps a lot. ATTEND CLASS she gives great examples in class as well as participation points. Final exam wasn't as hard as I expected. Study, study because most of economics makes sense once you know the basic info.
Assignments are tough. Tests are hard. Her lectures are very boring and long.
Worst teacher ever. Her long lectures combined with hard tests equals a failed grade. Never take her!!!!!!!!!
I've taken Micro and Macro with her. However, you're graded off of 4 tests and 10 quizzes (quizzes are 3pts each and tests are 75pts, final is 100pts) that is all. She drops a test, but, if you do bad on other tests your screwed. She grades a test a month after it's taken and she does not answer emails. Very nice, but did not like her teaching.
The book is online. The software that we use is called MindTap. I do not know how much the book costs from the store, but this one is expensive directly from cengage. You NEED The mindtap version of the book though, as all the assignments are on there.
Avoid this teacher as much as possible. She is not clear on a lot of the material. Lectures are long and boring. I wish there was more interaction. Be ready to study a lot. Tests are super hard although some are multiple choice. Each test you get a note sheet with formulas she thinks are useful. Good luck if you take her class!
Her classes are almost all lectures. Sometimes they drag on. But she has a great personality and is great at explaining topics and is overall one of my favorite professors.
Jane was a great teacher.
Jane was a great teacher. The class was not hard so long as you are ready to put the work in. If you want an easy class with no effort shes not for you, but if you want a class want to actually learn she the perfect teacher. Very helpful and gives plenty of options to ensure you pass! P.S make sure to read
Jane was a nice teacher but was not very helpful when it came to learning the material. She is poor at responding back via email, not clear on many assignments, and made the already droll class unexciting and there was very minimal interaction. I also really disliked the program Sapling she uses compared to Web Assign or Turn It In.
She is a very nice person, but she sucks at teaching. All she does is write scribbles on the board for an hour haha. 10 pop quizzes a semester, so don't skip class if you can avoid it. Taking another teacher would be beneficial if you actually want to learn something.
She is a great teacher, but she needs to clear up on her teaching skills, if your are looking for an outgoing personality and happy teacher she is the one, but if you want a good grade I wouldn't suggest her
One of the hardest classes I've ever taken. I honestly just felt like I learned nothing from her. She seems like a nice person, but if you want to actually learn something, I would suggest trying another teacher. She also does way to many pop quizzes, so I would suggest not skipping class.
nice lady but lectures are seriously so boring I couldn't help dozing off. I felt like I learned a lot more from reading the book then her lectures.
The class itself is a struggle, and on top of it Jane barely explains the material. This makes the lectures and online homework miserable, as well as the tests. She does give you many opportunities to raise your grade with the journal assignments and quizzes, so do them.
Jane is beyond boring, worst prof i've ever had. DO NOT recommend her!!! I'd rather sit in a elevator a whole semester rather than sitting in her class... by the way, everything she teaches you is barley on the test & the tests are beyond hard.
Jane's class is lecture heavy, and I hardly learned from them. I mainly used the book and received help during office hours with assignments. The tests are straight-forward; if you actually read the book and do the assignments getting an A on the exams is easy. Would recommend to someone who is willing to study and learn alot.
Jane must really have a hard job. She is teaching mathematical concepts to people who may have not even taken algebra. I found the class to be extremely easy. There is plenty of practice & resources, but I don't think people were taking advantage of it, or just really struggle with math. I didn't like how the last test was given with the final.
If you are looking for a good understanding professor you might not want to choose her. Also the class itself isn't that hard, but don't expect to pass if you don't show up to class. Her way of homework can be very confusing with the use of Sapling. Using Sapling for the first time can be a maze, confusing and hard to navigate.
She posts assignments a day before they are due and wont send an email or anything. Her tests include problems that we haven't talked about. Overall, I think she is a very poor instructor.
Jane is a true gem and always goes above and beyond to ensure the students get the material. I really liked her and despite the fact she insist on reading the book, i aced this class without ever flipping a page in the book. merely by showing up and actually listening and asking questions. SHOW UP AND PAY ATTENTION. ASK QUESTIONS TOO!!!!!
Jane is a good professor. She gives good lectures, the assignments are clear, and the test are very strait forward and easy. There are a lot of assignments, but they aren't too time consuming. I liked how she connected the material with real life current events. I would definitely recommend taking her!
Jane as a person is the sweetest soul ever, but microeconomics is just a hard class, i would focus on showing up to class, and really studying for the exams because they are not easy, but jane is so sweet, its just the class thats hard.
THE TESTS ARE RIDICULOUS. She will tell you straight up that she makes them difficult to pass and not many do.
Exams are a huge portion of your grade, I would say about 70%. Jane is a good professor, however, she lectures about a chapter that you would be reading a week ago. Her lecture seems like it's straight from the book, so if you don't do homework than pay attention to lecture.
there are some pop quizzes but they are as a group and you go over it as a class and get full credit. there is a lot of pre lecture assignments and chapter homework. the class can be expensive with the text book and online website that is required to be purchased.
Mostly lectures, so you have to show up to class. Also she gives pop quizzes that you can't make up, so you just have to come to class. Macro is just a hard class in general, but if you go to her office hours, she is very helpful! In order to do good in this class, you have to put in the work. You can't just show up to class and expect to pass exam
Doesn't allow make-up on any of the Exams or homework. Even if you had a good reason for missing class.
She's super caring and nice but honestly i learned more from the book then her. She's great but ask lots of questions to pass her class. Schedule office hours. also really study hard for the exams. She teaches stuff in class but the tests are slightly harder then any of the assignments. SO ASK QUESTIONS
She lectures everyday and is boring teaching style. does not make class fun at all and forgets to tell you when you have homework. She does go over homework before it is due sometimes so that is good. The tests are super hard and you will not be prepared for them even if you study. would not take again.
Very boring class, hard to pay attention. Teacher is very monotone and doesnt do anything but lecture. Teaches class like topic is already learned. Very very very hard tests & a lot of pop quizzes in class.
She gave really good lectures. She drew pictures on the board and tried hard to answer questions people had. She's very relaxed and helps you with anything. I wish I wanted to be an economist so I could keep taking her class!
In my opinion no matter who teaches economics, it is going to be boring. This class it is extremely difficult to stay in gauge with these long lectures. Every example is the environment and it is just not taught well. Nice lady who means well, but man is this class at Anoka Ramsey a struggle.
In my honest opinion Jane doesn't care much for her students success. I reached out to her for help over email numerous amount of times and I never heard anything back and when I would meet with her in person she gave me the cold shoulder like I was insulting her by not understanding the content. She teaches at a fast pace and the tests are HARD!!!
Jane is very helpful and thoroughly answers every question in class. She also tries to learn students names which is thoughtful. You need the book to do pre-lecture assignments (which are due days before the actual lecture). The tests are kinda hard but if you practice you're fine. The classes uses Aplia which is annoying but manageable.
Very flexible
Love her as a professor, however this class was very hard to be interested in. Online HW was confusing and annoying (just because of the way its set up) & exams are HARD!! For most of them, the highest score a student got was around 75-80%. One nice thing is that sometimes there is room for easy points, but not always.
Jane was an okay professor. Nothing special or memorable about her besides the fact that she is a good storyteller. However, class work is difficult and time-consuming. Make sure to read the textbook and come to class if you want to pass.
Attendance is not necessary but there are many pop quizzes in class.
Economics is a very boring subject, but she tries to make it less boring which is appreciated. Start studying a week in advance for the tests because they are difficult and be prepared to see questions that try to trick you. Also the homework can be challenging. More than anything else, READ THE TEXTBOOK IF YOU WANT TO DO WELL IN THIS CLASS.
at first i was worried about this class but its not that bad. Econ is always a difficult subject to learn. But if you read the material and study for about 5/6 hours a week you should have no problem getting at least a B. the test qoestions are straight from the book or lecture. the only people i know who couldnt pass this class didnt try
Jane was so amazing to take as a professor. Shes always super flexible with deadlines and always asked if our class needed extensions. Her lectures are based off of power points which she posts ahead of time. I took her as a PSEO student, and I dont regret it. She deserves a waaaay better rate on here. Dont be intimidated to take her.
Before taking econ with Jane I had heard that she was alright. I wish this was true. Every day I was in class I wished I could be somewhere else. Jane draws the same graph on the board every day and doesn't really explain the contents at all. She made every day miserable. She assigned 50 question online homework worth only 5 points. Don't take her.
She is a great professor. Most people who grade her poorly do not grasp the concepts she teaches. I had her for economics and she made the subject extremely interesting and made me want to pursue a minor in econ! Do the homework, read, and ask for help and you will be extremely successful in her courses!
Have to go to the lectures or it will be very confusing. The class was hard but if you ask questions and pay attention it makes much more sense. There are pop quizzes that are pretty easy, but you can't make them up. Jane is a friendly teacher who was easy to talk to and able to work around my personal scheduling conflicts.
I had Professor Jane for Principles of MicroEconomics and she was a good teacher, but she gave long homework assignments and the lectures where long too. Over all she is nice and if you need her help she is there to help no matter what.
I took her for micro and macro, and as I was reading the reviews it seemed like the people who responded aren't going to college FOR economics, I am and I loved her classes. The content is fascinating in my opinion, and she was super helpful. If you enjoy economics and/or are pursuing a career in it, I definitely recommend her.
Her lectures were so confusing i skipped half of them throughout the semester. Other than that, the work in the class was pretty easy, as she divides your grade into a bunch of assignments, so messing up on stuff won't screw you.
I had Jane for statistics and it was taken online. Personally I found out that the zoom meetings weren't doing a thing for me so I stopped attending. Felt that learning the material through the textbook myself was more effective than attending a lecture. From what I've heard if you need help she will offer it to you, and she seems overall nice
Jane was one of the most caring professors I've had at Anoka-Ramsey. She genuinely cares about each of her students and wants to see them succeed at the end of the day. Make sure to stay on top of coursework in her class and to attend so that you get a good understanding of the material. She's super approachable and flexible with help hours too!
I had Jane for micro. I found the material to be overwhelming, which the insane workload did not help. Mindtap hw, problem sets, journals, and pre-lectures every week made it harder to keep up. I also prefer more organization and structure from my profs. Although I gave her the benefit of the doubt and she seems nice, she wasn't my cup of tea.
For a class that is slightly more difficult than most Jane made it as easy as possible. None of the assignments that were assigned were large and difficult. The lectures mostly consisted of reviewing the textbook chapters after the assigned reading to explain the content more clearly.
Professor Ruliffson's class was a very average class. As long as you pay attention and do your work, you are deemed to pass the class. Nothing is very hard, the concepts may be confusing, but it is recommended to read the textbook. I didn't mind this class at all and I would take it again if I needed to. She's also not a harsh grader. Goodluck!
If you take her class you need to be able to juggle lots of hw and really listen to the lectures. I appreciated that Ruliffson was always open and willing to help if someone was struggling. It was definitely more hw heavy than I expected, but it was manageable. I'd recommend keeping up with the textbook reading, I would've done better if I did.
There were numerous amounts of homework every week as well as lectures and textbook readings. There were multiple "problem sets" regarding material from over a few weeks that were not faded in a timely manner. She doesn't put any relevant grades in util the last minute so you never know what to improve on.
Somethings I swear she just gives you full credit but for others she will grade harshly. For about half of the semester, she will have 4 different homework assignments due. It can become a lot of work to do in 1 week. The work can get confusing a lot of the time. Other than that it was an okay class but wouldn't take it again with her.
She occasionally gets sidetracked during lectures, and there's a lot of homework. Some assignments are graded on completion, while others focus on accuracy. Falling behind is not advisable due to potential consequences. Timely grade postings are rare, and the online exams are challenging. (Spring 2022)
Overall, she gets sidetracked a little bit with her lectures. There is a lot of homework. Some you get full credit for doing while others are on accuracy. Don't fall behind. If you do, you will suffer. She rarely posts grades on time, so you have no idea what your current grade is. The exams are online but challenging. (Fall 2022)
Very quick to respond to emails if needed plus all round very helpful if you need it. She changed the textbook she was using, there wasn't a lot of homework and it got pushed back a lot while she was figuring things out. Definitely learned things I'll use and wouldn't mind having her again.
Weekly homework that was pretty challenging but gave you more than one attempt at the question so you wouldn't lose points completely. Responded to emails quickly and was understanding when I had a family emergency. Work got lengthy some days but was fairly easy to understand. I would take her class again.
Professor Jane was amazing, I would say one of the best I've ever had. There could be a decent amount of homework, but she gives plenty of time to complete it. Her lectures were very helpful and she was always willing to help students and responds to emails quickly. I would recommend her to anyone who wants to truly learn about economics.
Overall she is a good person, very caring about whether we are understanding the curriculum however if you take her class be prepared for extra long lectures which include her getting sidetracked by something not relevant to the topic. As well as an exorbitant amount of homework, including online work and handwritten problem sets.
I hated taking this class online. Didn't learn a thing, her video lectures are 45 minutes to an hour and a half of her droning on with many weirdly long pauses. She's generally technically inept. Maybe she's much kinder or interesting in person, but don't take this class online.
I took both her mirco and macroeconomics classes and loved them. definitely have to be at all the lectures because she does grade in class activities but hey are super easy and fun. She is super understanding too and extended deadlines to help students get full credit. I just wished she taught more subjects so i can take her again
She's nice and funny my friends. I took her for pseo 2023 and forgot a few things, but I remember the class was interesting! I might not be the most reliable, but she's kind, has extra credit, answers emails, and helps you learn if you're stuck. She isn't bad at all!Like all classes put in the time and effort reading, and it will pay off, I mean it
Prof. Jane's class has a lot of content and work, but attending lectures and using resources like unstuckstudy can really help. The material is challenging but engaging if you're interested in economics. Overall, a tough but rewarding course.
The class overall was difficult for me, I attended lectures but couldn't maintain very well between high school and college. I was quite literally failing the class on the day of the final and found out THAT DAY. She was so understanding so kind and caring, she reopened things for me and allowed me to get to a passing grade. She's truly amazing.
She didn't grade any of the big assignments until the last week of class (two being from the beginning of the semester). Because of this I had absolutely no idea what my grade was going into the final. I took the final over two weeks ago and while I sit here writing this, I still have yet to get any grade back on it and the class has since closed.
I took this class while in PSEO. It was averagely difficult for me. She does not grade any hand-done assignments until the end of the semester. But the weekly homework is automatically graded. Otherwise, the professor is nice and helpful.
I took Jane for PSEO in the fall 25 semester. She was a very nice proffesor and her class was interesting. I would zone out sometimes, but she made everything easy to understand. The last chapter is kind of difficult to understand, I will say that. She is a very nice person. There are 4 quizzes and one homework assignment each week.
