Great Prof! Material is presented very clearly and exams are almost directly from notes!

She is my absolute favorite professor. The assignments are not that easy, but with notes and effort you can get a great grade.

Prof.Sheldon is the awesome. You learn so much from her classes and it is actually applicable to real life and jobs in psychology and related fields! You have to work to get a good grade but so worth it! She needs to be a full time Prof.!

Wonderful teacher, most of the material seemed to be common sense, also, she seemed to favor the grad students in the class, but overall very fair and helpful and interesting. I liked the teacher better than the course itself. Take her, you'll like it.

Had last winter, was a nice class. She explains quite well and class is never boring. The topic can be common sense at times, but she refreshes it. She answers e-mails promptly and cares how students do in her classes. One of best psych teachers there are. Recommend highly.

Very good professor. She explains everything really well and I've never really had to study for her exams because of how clear she is in class. Class is very interesting and exams aren't hard at all. Just pay attention and read the book and you'll be fine.

ENERGETIC is an understatement! She comes in everyday so excited about what she's talking about that you can't help but get interested. Lectures are amazing, not a boring minute. If you take just one psych class in all your years, make sure to take her!

Great Professor, fair grader. Tests are multiple choice on scantron. The text is actually interesting to read, and her lectures are well organized and informative. I would take her again.

Jane Sheldon is a great professor and made attending class enjoyable. I never read the book, (just used class notes) and got a B+ in the class. To get a higher grade you should probably read the book ;)

Worth taking her WST class. She works hard to combat prejudice, wants her students to do well, and encourages questions during lectures. Bad points: quick to assume students are criticizing her and rise to anger, doesn't always explain that creative exercises are being done for the experience and won't drag down one's grade. Sporty, smart, spunky.

fun, but i wish she would give an esssay or asnment for a gerdae so it can boost up grade 2 an A.

I loved Prof.Sheldon's class! It has been the most fun and interesting class I have taken so far! It is to bad she isn't teaching next semester, because I would love to take her again! Highly recommended!

drsheldon is awsemo, she is so fun , you wont ger bored in her lectures, she is awsemoe and willimng 2 help any1 and even for grad school later on, very nice and fun, but 1 assgment would help so it can help with ur grade, but hey its universuty style like she said, she just doing her job, she cool adn fun, higly recmded take her.

Professor Sheldon keeps things interesting. Always cracks jokes, but gets information across. Tests are mostly based off lecture, but you won't get a 100% if you don't read the book.

GREAT PROFESSOR!!! Very funny! Her lectures were very detailed and she really made you understand. And she was funny. The tests were very fair, I'm sure I would have A'd rather than B/C'ed them if I'd done the reading. :p The only downside to the class was it was 3 hours long and the seats were crammed. I hope I get to be in her class again!

This is a very interesting class! If you come to class and read the text and study a bit you'll get an A. The teacher is funny and interesting to listen to and the topic is interesting too. One of the best classes I have taken.

Easy class. Just study the notes in class and the key terms in the book and you should be able to ace every test. Kind of interesting too.

This class is a for sure MUST! I only took it for a requirement and learned so much! Recommend reading the book before exams it will help you on the exam and it is interesting! This prof can make a 3 hour lecture fun and fast!

Great Teacher! She keeps the class interesting and really makes you learn. Exams are not to hard, never bought the book, but listened in class and got a B on all tests. You get to drop 1 of 6 at the end (tests)

It is a distance class-but Prof. Sheldon is soo helpful! Anytime you have a question or problem-she emails you back the same day and is so nice about it. I took an intro class with her too and she was funny and very helpful. Would recommend her for any Psych class-she really knows her stuff.

Wonderful, engaging lecturer with fair standards and very easy tests. Fun personality and fun but relevant stories keep lecture interesting and easy to understand. All that you really need to do is do the papers thoroughly, attend lecture and take notes.

really nice professor, she gives a midterm paper and a final paper the final one was easier. 3 exams and cumulative final but by the time you get to the final you will have learned almost everything you need to know, and doing the papers really helps for studying. i recommend reading every chapter before class and she gives notes and that helps alo

Professor Sheldon's lectures are very interesting. She throws in many funny examples and stories and the notes are very helpful when studying for the exams. There are 6 tests, but your lowest score is dropped. The tests are very fair. I would definitely recommend taking her again.

I took this class for filler and I really am interested in PSYH now. She is really good and interesting professor. Classes go by soooo quick. You do need to take notes and read a bunch, but the book is really good too. She does not take attendance, but you will want to go! :)))) Good times!

Professor Sheldon is probably one of the best professors at UMD. Her class lectures will actually keep you interested! She is a very fun professor and likes to tell stories and relate her teachings to real life. Study for the tests and read the chapters in the book and you will do fine. I didnt get a good grade but I would recommend her to anyone!

Sheldon is the best professor I have ever had. She makes the class fun and interesting and you actually want to go to her class! It's not hard to do well in her class because she is so helpful and clear. Take Sheldon if you want to learn AND have fun in class.

Just buy the study guide for the book, do the 3 pratice exams it has for each chapter and the crossword and you'll get nothing less than an A on every test! She drops the lowest test. NO FINAL!

LOL, peopl always blame the prof for their low grades, instead of themselves! Yeah, it's a hard class but if u work hard and r smart, you'll get an A, just like me. Everyone I know who took this class got either an A or B, so this C+ person just feels entitled. what a loser.

Excellent prof for intro to psych. Writes complete notes on board and uses clear, precise explanations and examples to supplement them. She is not boring at all and is extremely friendly and approachable in class and out. You do have to read both textbook and notes in order to score high on exams. 6 MC exams, drop lowest score, no final. The Best!

Awesome professor but difficult class. This is the type of class that you absolutely have to constantly study and have read the textbook. Her exams are not normal multiple choice, so if you had her for another lower level class, be prepared for a change. Very helpful and her in-class notes are very useful for studying. Had to do two papers as well.

Straight forward. Writes all lecture notes on the board in outline form. 4 exams, 1 paper is applying terms to a teen and the other paper is autobiographical. The exams are based evenly on the book and lecture notes. The final is semi-cumulative and her tests are writing intensive but come with multiple choice as well. Would recommend!!

Best teacher at UMD. I had a three hour psych 170 class that felt like a regular hour class! She is such a great and exuberant professor. If you get the chance, take a class with Sheldon!

Dr. Sheldon is a remarkably intelligent professor. She explains confusing concepts in simple terms, she gives you A LOT of examples and they are very helpful. I will definitely recommend her to students who wishes to take Psych 170. I must say, reading the book is a must and the Study Guide is very helpful in getting good test scores!

She's okay. She's a good professor and will help students. Her tests were tricky. You have to read the book and do alot of work on your own. Notes alone won't be enough.

Very nice lady, reminds me of my mom...if my mom were cooler (and intelligent). I don't completely agree with her tests, however, as she strongly emphasizes terms and definitions rather than concepts. If you mislabel a term you get graded down significantly even if you give a thorough, accurate, and clear description of it. Still, fairly easy.

About the most amazingly sweet Professor at UofM Dearborn! I seriously wish she taught more classes! She's incredibly helpful! suggestion: study notes and corresponding book parts at the same time!

AMAZING! loved her i wish she taught more psych classes there is not one class period where we all werent dieing of laughter shes great and very intelligent. But book is needed there are things on the exam that are not in the notes she gives. Overall U MUST TAKE HER!

Wonderful instructor...great sense of humor, hilarious and provides her material so that all students get a clear and concise understanding of the material. BOOK reading is a must...tests...yes they are conceptual but you must know the information VERY well to pass.

One of the best instructors on campus... come to class take the notes and read the chapter and you will get an A. The tests are very straight forward. super hyper, never once did i feel like falling asleep in her 3 hr class. write the notes. they are important. i didn't buy the book or read it got an a in class. do the extra credit. it helps. love her. you will too

Prof. Sheldon is the best! I took her adolescent psyc course and loved it. Material was interesting, she was informative and funny, would go out of her way to help students, very knowledgeable. You do have to do some reading and it's easy to fall behind if your miss any lectures. Papers are lengthy but not terribly difficult if you apply yourself.

Prof. Sheldon is the best professor I've had. Her lectures are amazing and she writes most of what she says on the board in an organized matter so note taking is super easy. She does test on things not covered in lecture, but she makes you aware of that and even tells you what not to study in the book. She's also incredibly enthusiastic and funny.

I agree that professor Sheldon is a great professor. However this course does take a lot of your time.. It really transitioned me as I am a Freshman and showed me the work load that is needed at a university. I wish I would have known how much work to put in this class before I took it. Make sure to use the free websites and take practice tests.

Great professor but really makes you work hard for your grade! Her exams are tough and require at least 3 days of prior studying. I love Dr. Sheldon, she is very clear and has great lectures but its not a class you can slack off in.

She is amazing and very knowledgeable. But I noticed that people struggled. I, for one, did not. I got All A's and one B on the exams. HELPFUL TIP: Make flashcards of all of the key termsideas out of the notes and book. It will take time to do this but it is so worth it. Memorize and know how to apply everything. You'll do great.

Professor Sheldon is very organized, gives great notes and explains everything well. Read the textbook though, there are always a few questions not covered in class on the test. Also, I recommend you take notes.

overall incredible teacher, extremely helpful, even gave me study tips on how to do well on my biology exams. the class itself is fairly interesting depending on the subject topic, but overall an amazing teacher. very clear and appropriate. also comes with an SI teacher who was very well put together also. i recommend taking this class with her

overall bad prof. she will fail you if she wants to and she can because of her exam structure. this is also the only class i have taken where reading textbook is an absolute must to pass. i would give zero rating but it would get deleted so tread carefully. oh and she is very judgmental

Easiest class ever! You don't even have to go to class all semester as long as you read the textbook since the exams are straight from there and attendance isn't graded. However, if you aren't comfortable with skipping she's hilarious and tries to make the class as interesting as possible.

Prof. Sheldon is absolutely amazing and one of the best profs to take for Psyc 101. She makes all the material easier to understand, but for her class, you HAVE to read the book!!! If you don't read your book, the highest grade you can get is a C. Exams are alright, not the easiest, but not hard. Read your book and go to SI and you should be fine.

She was very funny and enthusiastic. No assignments, just tests. So make sure you ace them. You're going to have to read the book to get an A.

Professor Sheldon has plenty of great examples to keep things moving. She's well-organized with her notes, but doesn't always get to everything before an exam--some things she will discuss in lectures that aren't in the book and vice-versa. Her wording on exams can be tricky and the course grade is the average of five exams.

Previous reviewer may not understand that this is college and that in college we need to read the book instead of having everything handed to us by the teacher. College is supposed to be harder than high school. This professor is helpful, fun, smart, and wants us to learn

This intro class is tough, but worth it because you learn SO MUCH! Lots of great examples in lecture. You absolutely HAVE TO read the book though. Luckily its interesting. She also taught me really helpful study strategies that i use in other classes. Awesome professor!

I'm taking Psych. 101 and think its pretty easy. ( I have an A- so far) No papers! All multiple choice and only 70 questions . I think Prof. Sheldon is awesome. lectures are organized and she's funny. I highly recommend.

Prof Sheldon is AWESOME. Great lectures and good group activities. Exams are real different from other profs exams, but she is fair in grading. Two papers and 4 exams. She is very helpful and caring.

I agree this class is hard. But the professors lectures are GREAT! Wish she didnt test so much from the book but I still liked the class.

Five multiple choice tests is all there is. No papers. Don't miss lectures and be sure to read book! Great lectures! If you hate Powerpoint the way I do, you'll love this class cuz it's Powerpoint free. She's also really easy to talk to.

Get the study guide!! My grade went from a D to A's and B's after I got It! Her lectures are super entertaining and she gives lots of examples from real life to explain class material. She's also gave me advice about different psych classes to take that would help me with my Business major. She actually cares about students and their lives.

I LOVE Dr. Sheldon!! I'm taking her next semester because I love her style of teaching so much. Her stories are hysterically funny! (especially the one about the backhoe.) Although her exams are hard she will rephrase any question for you during the exam to make sure you aren't confused about what its asking. How great is that?!?!?!

Dr. Sheldon is one of the best professors I've ever had, and she really cares about your success. My class had a lot of freshmen that weren't expecting to have to read all of the textbook chapters, so I think that's the reason why some other reviewers didn't like the class. But if you actually read the chapters and study, you'll do amazingly!

Great professor! Her teaching style is lecture based but she applies psychology to the real world and makes lecture interesting, emails back and is accessible out of class. You can tell she is very knowledgeable and eager of her profession. Just show up to class, write down everything she writes/says, STUDY notes, and complete 3 assignments.

Amazing! Definitely one of my favorite professors so far in my college career. She makes the lectures very interesting applies all of the concepts to real life. She always answers any questions. Honestly for all of the tests I just studied the notes and quickly read over the book pages that are required and got B or higher on all tests.

Love prof. Sheldon. She incorporates her person life into the lectures. Her exams are more on things in the books than things she goes over in class. BE SURE TO READ THE BOOK.

It is impossible to pass this class without reading. Her lectures are very in depth but she doesn't cover everything. I knew a lot of people who did not read and did bad in her class. I loved her! She is really good at explaining the material and making it interesting. There is a lot of reading involved, but the tests are very reasonable.

My courses aren't in here but I took her for Psych 428 and an independent study. She the best professor I've had, extremely helpful! Now she's helping with my personal interest statement for my MSW. If you're serious about psych, then she's your girl. If want to take the easy way out, then try someone else.

Awesome class! Prof Sheldon has high standards and its hard to get an A, but that doesn't mean she's a bad professor. It means she wants us to work hard and rise to the occasion. I went to her office hours and she was incredibly helpful gave me tips for studying techniques. Lectures are always interesting.

I had Prof. Sheldon as my Psychology Honors thesis advisor and she was superb. She gave tons of feedback on multiple drafts of my paper and every draft got better and better. I don't think I would have gotten into graduate school without her teaching me all about research and writing. She was tough but I learned so much! I highly recommend her.

I had Dr. Sheldon in 2018 for my Adolescent Psychology course and she was incredible! Lectures were great and she was funny too. I graduated in 2021 and asked her for a letter of recommendation this year. She not only wrote a letter but she also gave me feedback on my resume and personal essay!
