The best at BMCC
Don't need the textbook. Doesn't give lab exam...perfect. Her exam are good. Multiple choices, some short answers (very easy) and a case study. She drops the lowest grade and gives you plenty of chances to get a high grade in her class by giving extra credit. She gives quizes which are 10 multiple choices, very easy. Study her notes n you'll be fine
I wish there were more like her
Nows her stuff. Jokes a lot too. You'll enjoy the class and learn. goes out of her way to help students
Absolutely the best professor to take for a&p 2. You definitely don't ned the text book, got an A and eveything she taught helped in nur112 + micro I was very grateful to her. Thank you professor you are the best
Prof. Johnston is great, extremly helpful and will work with you to insure that you do well and get a good grade. You should take her class.
She is born with tallant for teaching, she is smart, nice and has perfect sense of humor! I wish we have more professors like her!
This professor is a gift to students. She helped me many semesters after I left her class. Definately above and beyond any other professor at BMCC.
She was very good - I learned a lot and it all helped with A&P2. Take this professor she is very nice.
i currently have her for Bio 426 & had her for pharmacology in the past... i love her! she's very upbeat and makes the class interesting! SHe is also a VERY helpful & knows her stuff! she's a hidden gem at BMCC--- they are LUCKY to have her :))
Use her lecture, not clear! She asks question from somewhere in book never cover in a class. her lectures not clear and she has british accent you might have hard time to understand. Totaly a time waster. Dont ever attemp to take her.
She's sooooooooo cool. Student below must have really been bad.
Don?t take this professor, if you don't want to be disappointed .she was my worst experience I have ever had .I didn?t like her lecture and behavior, she was so boring. her lecture not understandable. it was all wasting time you could read your own book better instead of staying in her classes.
If you love your self please don't take this professor, she is awful, and she will make your life miserable. She just gives you any grade she wants, she doesn't care about her students. i will advice anyone to run away from her class.
Dr J is good. She puts slides on blackboard to help you understand and gives review sheets. Labs can be tricky but you learn a lot
Extreme lack of clarity. Tons of work and strange grading. You will think you understand what is expected and will follow her instructions but then receive low grades and comments from her indicating she doesn't know how to communicate properly.Do yourself a favour and do not take her! Even if you do find a solution.
The professor never involves the students. The professor isn't clear about the requirements and how much they count. The professor is boring. Dont take her!!!
Excellent professor who is always ready to help
High level professor - can answer any question. High level researcher - international class top notch research activities Also very caring, considerate and attentive teacher as well as a person who offers alternative pathways to learn. I can only wish I would be that good, upbeat, funny and knowledgeable if I teach biology one day.
If you do the work (labs, review sheets, attend class), you will do well. She says everything is on the slides - its more that all the concepts on the test are on the slides but you have to be in class to hear the details to be able to answer the more involved test questions.
A very caring and helpful professor. She was willing to help her students no matter what. I did not used the textbook, only for reference. She mostly used powerpoint and send the slides for u on blackboard. 4 exams total and there are few quizzes and also lab. Passed the class with an A-.
Great professor and always cheerful even though class was at 8am
Hard class with lots of material covered but excellent professor who works with you to help you understand. I was well prepared for nursing.
Class is challenging and with lots of written assignments, She is patient and helpful. Loved the class!
Lots of detailed material explained clearly. You need to pay attention and work hard. Ready to help if you want it. Loved the class.
She is very nice and helpful. However, her tests are quite tricky and require critical thinking. Not everything on the slides is on the test, sometimes there are things from the textbook. Since she is a scientists so she takes the class very seriously and for little mistakes she will subtract points. BEWARE!
Best prof.
Perfect class, not too hard and not too easy. She knows her stuff and is always willing to teach beyond the bmcc curriculum. She sure does make your money worth
My exams were all in the low 80's, lab grade was 100, & I got an A-. Exams are tricky if you don't study, easy if you do, class was fun, frequent lab quizzes are easy if you study. I didn't have the book, but I suggest it (some exam questions came straight from the book). Slides are helpful, but you HAVE to go to class to get all the details!
Great quality, very smart, energetic, and good sense of humor. She is a true scientist, if you truely into medicine, take her class and you'll learn a lot. BMCC is really lucky to have her.
First time im taking the time to comment a teacher and she was well worth it. Clear and to the point but exams can be a bit tricky
Funny, smart & engaging with lots of great info to share. Always very helpful, esp. if you are working hard. I found her tests a bit tricky, but overall she is very fair. One of the great profs at BMCC. I learned a lot & had fun. Study her slides, take good notes in class & read the book. She dropped the lowest exam & curved some of the others.
I love prof. Jane. I can't find enough words to rate her. She is above the level of rating. English is my second language. However, she makes bio super clear and understandable. She is awesome, funny, sweet, and extremely helpful. ppt slides are super clear, plus the nots she gives during the lecture. You don't have to buy lab book because has copies for everyone. She is always ready. What you need from any course is to learn, understand, get (A). Then take her. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
I had Pro. Tezapsidis for a summer class, it was very intense (studying every night intense) yet it is a long hard memorizing course especially during the summer. Very helpful to all students who ask questions. Gives fair test, really kind professor (drops lowest) gives quizes, british but understandable accent. Not the best but the worse.
For lab she doesn't help at all, you can just do most of it at home. The lectures are extremely boring and her exams are extremely hard. You have to study while eating, showering, sleeping, and dreaming. The ones who didn't drop out were the ones who had taken this class before.
Professor Tezapsidis is great! She tries her best to explain every aspect of the material to the best of her ability. Anatomy & Physiology is not easy. Do not take it lightly! Study hard and continuously to keep track. If you can, try to read ahead and also print her slides from PowerPoint presentations and study them along with the textbook.
There is a lot of material in this class and you HAVE to study if you want to get an A. It's not impossible though. Prof is very knowledgeable and funny. In fact this class was the highlight of my semester
This is a professor for serious students. I took both 425 and 426 with her and would take again. You will learn so much but expect to work. FYI more writing than my WI class
I am taking Prof. Tezapsidis this semester and I have to say that, although her tests can be really difficult and require a rigorous amount of studying, she is a very smart and kind professor. If you are not a studious person, do not take her class, but if you truly love biology she is the one for you.
She was a great teacher , knowledgable .... Her exams are tough a lot of writing so you gotta know your stuff. She quizzes weekly so stay on top of it ! Recommend :)
Professor Tezapsidis is a great Professor. Definitely there for her students, and gives very good feedback. Always try to read ahead if possible, and take good notes in the class, because this information is what usually appears on the exam short answer section. Always read the textbook along with the slides. There is a lab quiz most lab sessions.
patient, considerate, understanding, fair, respectful, and humble. provided slides for every chapter. I used the slides to study for the quizzes and exams because the textbook was confusing and difficult to read. Borrow the book from the library or scan copies to e-mail address. Old edition is good too. On-line classes are very convenient
Really learned a lot, but hard work. Labs were super interesting and helped boost my grade. Also she dropped lowest exam too. Not everything is in Campbell so take good notes from the board and practice questions from the book. You will work (hard) for your grade so if you are looking for easy take someone else.
Hard work. Hard work and did I say HARD word? You will work (hard) for your grade so if you are looking for easy take someone else. You need to understand the material rather than just memorize. Great, supportive professor tho.
She is very clear and understanding and answers any questions you may have. She wants all her students to pass and is real passionate about her students... They should never split her for lecture and lab.. She has a very unique style of teaching that needs to be incorporated as a whole unit.. (Lecture & lab)
Excellent professor. Very knowledgeable about a wide range of topics and funny in her presentation too. Never bought the textbook. Quizzes every week. No lab exams, just four non-cumulative lecture exams. Her quiz and test questions are pretty difficult, meant to train students for future exams. Read and memorize her slides and you'll be fine.
She's a great professor, of course A & P is difficult you have to put your blood, sweat, and tears into it. But, nothing good in life comes easy. This professor made me believe in myself, I've improved tremendously because of her. I would take her again for anything. Don't listen to the bad comments, she's a real gem in BMCC.
She follows all her PowerPoint slides when she gives lectures, and you usually can print a copy yourself before class or afterward. Study the materials that she gives you to study, you should be fine, need to study hard, A&P is not easy.
I love this professor. She is tough, and the class is hard. But it is college. If you want to be prepared for the future she is for you. If not, take someone easy. she teaches you what you need to know to do well in grad school.
This professor really made me love biology. She gives great notes and review sheets to help you. It's tough but she will help you, especially if you ask. Totally great with answering email.
This professor is a tough grader but she is also fair! Read all of her multiple choice questions carefully !! Ask questions she will answer... Replies to emails in a timely manner... Overall a great professor that pushes you to learn.
Jane's Tests are long, extremely hard, tricky and not always based on lecture alone. They consist of multiple choice, True/False, Short Answers, labeling and once an essay Q. You must memorize slides details. Labs require a report with graphs. She's nice but a very hard grader. No partial credit and no extra credits are ever given.
Prof J teaches at a higher level than most profs at the college. I got an A, but I had to work hard for it. That being said, I learned so much and I feel less nervous about going to an accelerated program than I did before taking her class. Great experience for me. She's the prof for those that are serious about learning.
She gives amazing lectures that thoroughly explain the topics in helpful ways. There are short but detailed weekly quizzes that are annoying at the time, but force you to keep up with the content and make it easier when tests come around. Tests are detailed, but she is great with taking the time to really teach the content vs reading from slides.
Bruh! you HAVE to work HARD for this class. If you're not a science person or have the passion for it please take another professor. She's nice and all but the class is not easy.
Granted this class is tough, but she is awesome! Gives great powerpoints and review sheets and quizzes to keep you on top of the material. All exams contain in built extra credit. also drops lowest quiz/lab grade and sometimes one exam. There is a lot to know and you really must be prepared to work hard. Do not take if you want an easy A
Enthusiastic and brilliant.
If you want to learn, she will teach you. You must not be lazy and be prepared to go over all the material. Study slides, study book, study with friends. The class is hard, but later you will be thankful.
Prof J is lovely. She breaks the material down for you, but be warned there is a lot! Its not easy but if you ask her she will help you.
Prof Johnston is an awesome and caring prof. She gives you lots of work but lots of great notes. She really breaks the material down for you. Exams are tough, but she mostly curves them. Best prof for A and P!
This woman puts her heart and soul into teaching. She is patient and kind. Recommend
She was really great, very patient with questions from students, provided review sheets for each chapter for students to compete outside of class. Labs were always exciting and she helped students work their way through problems. Dislikes tardiness, but always gave a 15-20 break in class each day and allows students to eat or drink IN LECTURE only
It is a hard course to take so be prepared to work really hard, even the best teacher in the world cannot do the work for you. STUDY!!!!!! for each exam. They are hard but only because the subject matter is hard. STUDY all labs as well when studying for exams, she often takes material from there for the exams. Very clear in her explanations + grade
Dr.T is an amazing professor. This is a tough course in general, so its not an easy A. She is willing to help out whenever possible though and is so sweet and caring. Her lectures are always animated and she has an amazing attitude. I would definitely take this class again
Best professor at bmcc so far. Gives alot of extra credit to help students pass lectures are clear.
Too much work. You must study all the time. She is there for you though and will work with you t make you understand the lecture. Beware of exams. They are HARD!
Professor T is an amazing and inspirational professor. She teaches in a very clear way and is always willing to answer questions and help you. You must work in A&P. You must study and use your textbook. 100% would take again
Her lectures are crystal clear with slides that she makes available on blackboard for you to study from. Gives practice quiz afetr each chapter and lab write ups with graphs and drawings. Sometimes these are hard, but she will explain and give you more time if you need it. She is funny sometimes too. Exams are tough if you dont do the work.
Boring, uninformative class. All she does is read the powerpoints. I can go to online school for this.
A very smart and helpfu lady. Class is tough but she gives four exams and will drop your lowest. Good thing as they are hard ! If you pay attention she tells you what will be on the exam so you must be in class to hear. Also pointed me towards better study habit which improved my exam grade. Things from labs are on exams too so study these as well
Dr. T is an amazing person she is optimistic caring and funny my best advice record every lesson her slides are great but when she talks the answers are all there Don't be lazy it will be impossible to pass this class is really hard as it is but if you are willing to learn she will help you. sit in the front and you will be fine
Dr Jane is an amazing. Shes very intelligent and knows a lot about A&P. She cares about her students and try her best for her students to understand what shes teaching. Her exams can be a little tricky but just reread the question and understand whats shes truly asking. No textbook. She does gives mini quizzes during lab, normal 10 multiple ?
Dr. Jane is the best. I adore her. A&P compressed into a summer session is no joke, but Dr J is so fun and funny and the last 7 weeks just flew by. I miss her and her class already! 100% take her if you can; you will love her. Just do NOT miss lab or lecture unless absolutely necessary. Honestly, shes so great that you probably wont want to!
Shes very caring about her students. she would help you. Work hard and read, her lectures are clear. You have to read!! Her exams are based on what she teaches but you have to study!!
Her lectures are clear, but her exams are tricky. Read the book because her class is more about apply learning . grading is clear and she's very straight forward with the grades. We didn't use the lab book because she used handouts or post them online. My summer class was tough, but it was worth it. I can honestly say I learn.
Jane always keeps the subject interesting like damnWOW! She care for her students. She would be able help you. The key is to work hard, work hard more and read, her lectures are clear, but long . Also more reading involved. Just study harder youll be good -
Prof. Jane is a real sweetheart and a beautiful person ; she wants everyone to win and do well in life. I was literally failing the class and she found it in her heart to pass me with A nice grade. Her tests can be difficult and can contain lots of info, make sure your reading, handing in your labs and doing your HW assignments.
She is an amazing professor but no matter how clear the lectures are you will have to read the textbook chapters. Her exams are hard and worded very tricky, but if you study you will pass. Do not take this class though if you are not prepared to study everyday on your own because you fail.
Exellent Proffesor. Best BIOLOGY teacher at BMCC. You have to study because the test are hard. She would help you if you ask for help. Very caring.
Prof Jane made AP2 really interesting and she is a very sweet and fun. However her tests are HARD; she switches it up every time. MCQ, T/F, essays, diagrams... know it all. Just be prepared to study and read, and hope shell give you extra credit like she did with me. Despite me feeling like I did terrible in the class, I have to say shes great.
Dr. T knows a lot about human biology, especially the nervous system. She is very receptive to her students' questions. Her lecture notes can be long and you probably do not want to miss her class because some information (on exams) may only be taught during lecture. Overall, she is very nice and really cares about your understanding of A&P.
Helpful. Cares about her students Gives Extra credit Very Informative especially diseases and DNA and RNA topics. If you are taking this class heres a tip. WRITE EVERYTHING SHE WRITES ON THE BOARD. Memorize Diseases and tables. Yes there will be labels! Helpful if you want to be a nurse. Best class I have ever taken.
I took Dr. Johnston for A&P1 and I must tell you she is the best professor I've ever had in my entire academic career. She is extremely intelligent and will go out of her way to help you. She is ALWAYS available for a Zoom conference if you have any questions. Her exams are very fair and are based on the materials she went over. No curve balls!
level difficulty 10 Do not take her you will not pass to make it to the nursing program she does not care about any of us
she is caring professor. but her test is so hard. her test format is multiple choice and short answers. if you are lazy just don't take her. maybe is right choice if you are working very hard and passion become nurse. most important is her short answer very tricky. there have lot professor don't need short answer . if you don't like short answer.
I am a full-time student. Never gotten an A-, Always getting an A. Taking her class was the biggest mistake I have ever done since I started my college career. I just can't pass any of her exams. She thinks that we are scientists, not students. She gives us 6 tricky short answers that we can't even do. Honey do yourself a favor and save your GPA.
I don't know why a &p class needs to write a 4pages essay. her exam is made up of 30 mc questions and 6 short answers. it seems like short essays. later on exam 3, you need to answer 12 short answers. also you only have one and a half hours to complete it. beside her Annoying essay exam. her lecture is amazing. You definitely can learn something.
I had Prof. Johnston for Bio 426 on Fall 2017. The course itself is heavy, but she makes difficult pathophysiology easier to understand and retain. Her lectures are amazing. If she would teach any other courses I need, I would enroll into them without hesitation. Do yourself a favor and take her. She is the best.
I took A&P 2 with Dr. Johnston and learned abundantly from her. She provided us with recorded lectures in addition to her daily Zoom lectures. I was able to catch whatever I may have missed during Zoom through those recorded lectures. Those videos are a treasure! I scored well on my nurse entrance exam because of her. Don't skip her review sheets!
She is not for everyone, but you will learn and remember a lot. She is not an easy grader, exams are tricky, but once you get the hang of the first exam they should become easier. If you dont like to study/lazy take the class with someone else. Be very thorough in your work and dont be afraid to ask questions. Take good notes. I get the neg reps.
Professor Johnston is very caring and really wants everyone to do well in her class. She gives lots of chances for work to be completed but, she doesn't offer extra credit. Her exams are not bad but, you must make sure you study beforehand because you have to be very specific and detailed on the short answers. I definitely recommend her.
Her course is quite difficult. Be sure to review a & p beforehand, it will be much easier to understand. Overall, she is great professor! J
I took her class completely online this past summer. It was tough because it was an expedited 7-week course but she made it all doable! Stay on top of deadlines, write your answers in A LOTTTT of detail, and you'd be fine. She's a tough grader because she really likes you to write every detail about the prompt given.
She's very good but her reviews for the quizzes and exams don't help so create your own study guide especially for the short answers it can be hard because she wants like a detailed explanation. Overall, she is very nice though and provides extra credit.
She is solid in pharmacology! You will be happy that she did not use the textbook(med school type) for this course. It is a lot of information! Review all the slides and her videos without exception. Best piece of advice is to make your own notes and make charts corresponding to those topics in your own words. Big open response questions on exams..
20% of your grade is dependent on tests. If you are NOT A GOOD TEST TAKER. Do NOT take this class. You could be there every day, but it is mostly on exams.
Amazing professor! She puts a lot of effort into making her lectures digestible and interesting! I took summer course a&p1 and it was intense, but she provides lecture recording and you can turn to them anytime to refresh your knowledge. She is fair and open to questions, and always communicates ahead about any changes. Can't wait for a&p2!
Dr. T has a deep understanding of Anatomy and Physiology and her enthusiasm for the subject matter shows in her teaching. She cares deeply for her students and their success. I hope I am able to have another class with Dr. T.
quiz beginning of class & lowest quiz/exam gets dropped. tests/quiz had mix of short answers, mc, T/F, fill in the blank. they were all tricky. prof curved everyone's grade at the end of semester.some quizzes were open book. studied everyday (~4hrs)for this class but it wasn't enough. witnessed many cheating during test but they didn't get caught.
Professor Johnston's class is challenging, but her engaging lectures and detailed feedback make it worthwhile. Utilize resources like Unstuck study and the textbook to excel. Attend every class and stay on top of assignments.
She is a good and caring teacher. She gives extra credit .However, you have a test every week amd her tests are very hard.
I've taken 3 of Prof. T's courses. She has been my favorite professor at BMCC. She is very sweet, super flexible, wants her students to succeed. Quizzes every week but always lets students know in advance. She loves to teach her material which made it easier to follow through. I will always recommend her.
One of the best Professors in the Science department! She replies to emails quickly and is always happy to help. There's weekly quizzes with a few being open book so you have to stay on top of chapters. It's not an easy class but if you utilize the resources she gives, you'll pass and learn a lot too.
Amazing Professor! Would take her again! highly recommend!
prof. Tezapsidis is a great professor, but to be honest she is not for all. To get a high grade be prepaired to know very well all material she gives, make sure to understand it and remember all small details + extra as clinical applications (she really likes it). Be prepaired to have pop quizzes at the beginning of each lab as well.
This class is online but all exams are in person just a heads up. exams are -labeling w/ diagram -more short answer than multiple choices total of 60 question. -homework -labs due same day very very hard I think students will be withdrawing I repeat not because this class is online you think it will be easy nope-nah, class is hardddddddddd
Jane is soooooo nice. I like her class very much. Her lecture is clear and easy to understand. She will give us study guides to review. If you study hard, you will learn a lot. And she will curve the score. I will take her class again if I have a chance.
If you take any of Dr. J's classes, you'll be in GOOD hands. She's a very kind person and educator. Her enthusiasm for science and teaching style inspired me to accept the hardships of juggling school and a job. She doesn't go easy on her students. If you show up thinking you can cheat or get an easy A, this class and nursing/RT isn't for you.
Great Prof. 4 exams and the last is the final which isn't cumulative. Probably studied about 15ish hours per exam. Sometimes quizzes at beginning at class but not a lot of points but wants to make sure you are keeping up with the content. Some connect HW but like 4 not many. Definitely take her if you can!! She is the best.
