VERY organized, thorough, and on schedule. DON'T BE LATE TO CLASS!!
You will learn a lot, but her test's are very hard!!
Don't be Late and Don't Cut class !! ALL LECTURE !!Otherwise, she's great !!!
Lecture !! Harder than hist 7 !! don't miss a class
take notes, no homework, good class
exelent story teller! funny i learn a lot. her lectures become like a journey
She's a wild feminist w/many opinions
She goes so fast u can't keep up, Dont be late for her classes!!, her test are "ESSAY" and very hard. but u learn a lot.
Don't be late, take notes like mad, study notes over and over and you'll do fine! Side notes: she is a feminist, Catholic, opinionated, and sometimes intimidating (especially 1st day of class).. oh yeah, she makes a seating chart to see who ditches class
Hard teacher. Shes seems really tense all the time when she talks. Talks really fast. Need to take good notes. She gives handouts for study. Her test are essay, multiple, T/F, and short essay. Picky and strange on tests. ok but hard.
Hard tests, take good notes, and do extra credit
teacher is very organized, gives helpful notes, attend every class!
You learn a lot of radical things that you probably wouldn't get from other teachers in this subject. She's very passionate about this subject.I enjoyed class,& learned a lot, but you have to take notes like crazy.Write down everything,& know it for tests.
her grading's kinda hard.... u miss 5 on her multiple choice and you get a B on the test! but this class is fun and the teacher is great. i learned a lot of itneresting things. the hardest part (for me at least) were the essay questions on the test.
she's a great teacher, really knows what she's talking about, her classes are all lecture, you have to take a lot of notes, but outside of the essays you don't have anything else to do, I loved her class and learned so much from her
I was not intrested in this class at all...and she made this class so intresting. She came across as a hard ass on the forst day but after that she was great. Test are all based on notes. Class was intresting, fun, and a great learning experience
Very interesting subject, very tough teacher. Tests are very tough but based on notes, so take good ones. Gives out review sheets and many articles to read, study all of them for tests. Don't take her if you're looking for an A, but she's a good teacher that knows the subject well.
Great women's history teacher. An interesting must take class for everyone. No book, all lecture and videos. Take great notes and read the articles she hands out. She is a tough grader. Do not miss class.
The most AWFUL uncaring, heartless woman I have EVER met. I missed a test because a family member died and she DROPPED me!!!

nasty horrid woman
doesn't deserve to teach a potato let alone a human being
horrible, stupid, and her bangs are atrocious!! Hellooooo? Get with the style and do SOMETHING with that hair!
she outta be fired....

Made womens history even more interesting. Took her for all my hostiry classes. waiting for her to teach 1 and 2.

awsome women, great at giving detailed notes. totally helpful and friendly
i dont know...she things that we are dumb..the way she would make the face and say did you get tht....i fall asleep in her class..not helpful..and thank god i dropped her class
i like her! she is very clear on the subject and makes it interesting! the only reason she asks if you get it is because she wants to make sure you understand! i think its a great class!
Great teacher!
Ms.Wolford is the BEST teacher I have ever had. She lets you know at the beginning of class that if you cant hang, you should leave. I am glad I stayed, she is a very inspiring woman. I am so glad that I took her for History 1, 2, and Womens. She is one of those teachers that make coming to class worthwhile. She is a great person on a personal level as well. Go Ms.Wolford you are the BOMB.. I hope you teach forever. You deserve a fat raise, and go to her kid that wrote back to that idiot !!!! She is great !
she is a nice lady and all...but she talks hella fast. there isnt a required book for that class. so you really have to pay attention. she gives out review sheets every class, so just do them and you should be ok....its sometimes hard to keep up because you cant write as fast as she talks...but overall she is decent...im not a fan of history, but i learned a lot.
she covers alot of information, she does talk fast, but she gives out review sheets that basically show you everything that is going to be on the test, she will work with you in her office hours, she is a really FUN teacher to take!
IT WS THE BEST HISTORY CLASS I HAD EVER TAKEN.SHE IS SO SHARP. YOU WANT REGRET HER CLASSES: YOU'LL LEAVE A WISER PERSON, TRUST ME. IF YOU MISS ONE DAY OF CLASS YOU COULD FALL FAR BEHIND.
Mrs. Wolford is a fantastic professor. She is very clear and specific in all her directions, and extremely friendly and willing to help. She gives out two extra credit assignments during the semester, so do them! Her class is a challenge but I loved it. You learn a lot. She has this bizzare thing about leaving class though so go to the bathroom b4.
She is Anti-American. I dont know what to say, she totally trashed the U.S. today in class. Needs to learn respect for the country that allows her to voice her left wing hippie opinions. Good teacher, just dosent show respect for the United States. Maybe she should do a little time in a 3rd world county and learn some respect.
She does not believe that if you fail one test you can still make it. So after her first exam, she decides if you should stay in her class or drop/withdraw. She is the hardest teacher I have ever experienced.
Still great, really knows her stuff !! Best Instructor! Any class she teaches I'll will attend.
Mrs. Wolford is a good teacher. The good thing about her was her class does not require a book. I saved money on that! Her test are based on her lectures. As long as you don't miss a class, you're fine. However, Please take really good notes (that means keep your writing hand busy)...and study hard on those lecture notes.
I learned a lot from her but her test are hard!Take lots of notes and study really really really hard!
talks fast and loud. i loved this class though. u can just show up and really listen, and still learn a lot. good notes help a lot. after a lecture, she gives a review sheet, telling you what you need to know for the test. if you study the 10 questions on each review u should at least get a C. if u study the sheets and ur notes, its an easy A. othe
she teaches real fast
Awesome teacher. Her lectures are very clear. She is very vocal, and interesting. It does not take much to stay attentive in her class. I def. would want to take her for another history class!! and she knows how to joke around. definitely recomend taken her class!
This class changed my life. It's not for everyone and it's certainly not for those that are just looking for an easy A. If you want to learning about some amazing Americans, take this class... On a side note, make sure to take a lot of notes if you want to do well on the test. She will help you if you make the effort to go to her
Mrs. Wolford was the best teacher i have ever had, you don't need a book all you need to do is take good notes. The class is super easy and very interesting. If you do the study guide (you have a month to do it) you will def. get higher than a c on the test. I always studied the night before and ALWAYS got Bs on my tests! GREAT class, take it!!
The best way to learn History is if someone tell u like a story. she is going to tell u the whole history of u.s like story to u. very instersting teacher. she grades hard but teaches u alot of stuff. u don't even need a text book for this class. she is really good. some teachers are baised when it comes to hist but she is not one of them.
her womens history class is sooo interesting and makes you want to listen. grades fairly. if you keep up with her review sheets and take good notes youll get an A.
Every girl who has the opportunity to take this class, should no hesitate about it. Ms. Wolford is the very best she is simply a great instructor. She is extremely passionate about her work and will make her students passionate about history.Soo nice and caring this class will fly by and you will be looking forward to it.
she talks too fast!
Very clear about what she wants about what she wants from you as a student. She teaches on subject and keeps it interesting. I highly reccomend her, but you shouldn't take her if you're planning to slack off.
She is really passionate about history and it makes her one of the best teachers I have ever had. She doesnt mess around b/c she wants you to get the most out of it. No book but it gets you to actually pay attention. Really clear about what was going to be tested, never once was surprised. Dont take the class if you are lazy.
She is too hard, I would recommend other teacher, she can't make good test.
Im a Bio major and she kept everything interesting, now by no means is this an easy class, but she is very helpful and intellegent. She's a no BS kind of teacher and you will earn your grade, as long as you take notes and go to class every day, you will pass. She is extremely passionate about what she does. I would take her again!
am a big fan of easy classes.. but truthfully, honestly this class isnt that easy.. but she's got a bit of sense of humor.. lecture for an hour and 15.. massive notes or you'll fail.. but you get to learn a lot.. 4 tests the whole semester and its not a bad class.. especially cause you learn something.. oh ther's 1 ex credit opportunity so its fine
Mrs. Wolford is a great professor! I don't like history, but Mrs. Wolford changed my whole perception about the subject. She had me very interested in each class. She doesn't give homework only midterms and the final. As long as you go to class everyday you will do fine in class. I took her for hist7 & hist27. I like her so much I might take hist8.
This teacher takes no crap! Attendance is a part of your grade. If you show up,take notes and fill out the review sheets you should have no problems. The information is all from lectures no need to buy the book, she wont use it and it wont help! She makes the material interesting and tells great stories. Very approachable!
HARDEST HISTORY TEACHER AT CHABOT. GOOD LECTURE BUT ON THE LAST FEW TESTS SOME OF HER LECTURES DONT REFLECT WHATS ON THE TEST. NO SYMPATHY AT ALL TO DAMN CONSERVATIVE
Great instructor. Hands down. However, you must be present for all classes. She is very thorough. You will be taking some serious notes the whole class period, and if you are present and take good notes, you'll do well in class. Very informative class. No text book, required because she is so thorough in her lecture.
I hate this teacher because she talks too fast and make you take note. I don't get how any body can take note when she talk really fast and book are useless in this class.
I like Ms Wolford a lot. She's a good, clear teacher and if you listen to what she says, you can definitely get a good grade. I would recommend this class to anybody who's truly interested in history. Keep up the good work!
The only grades come from her tests. The first three exams do have an essay, so be prepared. She tests strait from lectures, offers extra credit, and the final isn't cumulative. She is a quality teacher, so show her respect by being in class on time and being attentive, if you aren't willing to do that, don't take this course.
Great history teacher! A true historian. She lectures, you tak notes. Four Exams total... the first three are multiple choice with an essay each, the final is not acummulative and has no essay. If you are interested in history take this course!!! If you are a lazy student, stay away. She has no sympathy. *BOOK NOT NEEDED*
very very nice and helpful.
I took Mrs. Wolford's Women's History class, and I must say it is intense. It was a bit overwhelming at first because the entire class session is a non stop note taking lecture. The class consists of 4 exams, for each class she gives out a sheet with questions about the prior days lecture, she does not collect it, but it is very helpful as to what
although her class is hard, her lectures are clear and she always gives these handouts so you can keep up with the lectures. great prof
She makes history so much fun! She is passionate about womens history so every class lecture was interesting and not boring. she gives out studyguides every meeting which helps you with tests alot.
Shes a really great teacher talks a bit fact during lecture so pay attention take notes and read the assignments and you will pass the class.
Honestly she was amazing. I never missed a class because a lot of material gets covered. Got an A without much effort and noticed a lot do poorly. Is it just me or is the average college student getting dumber each semester? :/ go to class study for a couple minutes & get an A.
Comes off cold at first, but she is pretty nice. Very passionate and knows the subject inside and out, which makes the class interesting. Fast pace, but barely any homework. Just review sheets of lecture & some worksheets. Midterms = multiple choice & short essay. But be warned if you can't write, you can't pass. *Class is NOT an easy A!*
Although knowledgeable and passionate about the subject, Wolford was impersonal and distant, perhaps unwittingly focused on spreading her extreme liberalism. AND I AM LIBERAL. If you exert any effort at all you can achieve an A, as I did. Attendance is MANDATORY!
I highly recommend Ms. Wolford! Learned a lot in her class and never fails to keep the class interested. If you do all the handouts, I guarantee you will not fail! It is CRUCIAL to pay attention in class AND take good notes! Midterms consist of multiple Q's & essay. Hardly use the book and barely any homework, just review sheets for midterms.
Best teacher ive had at Chabot and Ive been here for 2 years. The study/organizational skills you will learn help tremendously for the rest of your time at Chabot. Is very organized, she has a well thought out lesson plan for every class, just an excellent teacher and makes the subject interesting for most people.Fun class even if you hate history!
Professor Wolford is a hard grader. Having said that, she is one of the best teachers at Chabot. You WILL learn the subject matter. She is rather scary at first because she does not see very flexible, but she is funny. She is a pussycat in a tigers skin. She is great. Take notes, do the study guides and there is no reason to not get a good grade.
I was never really interested in history, but she has changed my mind. She doesn't talk fast, but slow enough for you to take down some important notes. No homework. Grade come from four test, the first three have an essay portion. She is dedicated in her work. Come to class, or you'll miss out on a lot of info. She makes the class interesting.
I can't believe Wolford only has a 4.1?! She is almost too good to be true in my eyes. She has lectures that are good paced so note taking is a breeze! She will even pause and tell you what is really important and crucial. There is no way to fail if you put in the time & effort. She just makes it too easy to retain the information. I love her.
She is my favorite teacher in Chabot. The first couple of days shes really scary to scare off the "don't cares". But when the class starts shes really nice and upfront. Shes a tough grader but but you learn a lot even if you just sit there all class which helps. She is a must have history teacher
Prof. Wolford is hands-down my favorite professor at Chabot. She's scary at first but afterwards she's very nice. You learn so much during her class and she covers a lot of information in just one! She is definitely a tough grader so you have to work hard even for a class without homework. She is just excellent and she makes you like history.
LOVE! She is so sweet and very interesting. At first a little intimidating but the class itself was one of my fave and I hate history. She relates to students with stories and experiences. Was my 1st time using a reader and I prefer it over a textbook. Grading is hard, just stay on topic, cite, and answer questions in the prompt for midterms.
Took both History 7 and 27 with her, and she honestly one of the best teachers I've had at chabot. Attendance is important because she gives a lot of info in one session in which notes are important, no mandatory hwk but if you wanna pass just do it b/c most questions on her test come from there. Tests are 35 multiple choice and a 4 paragraph essay
I liked taking Women's History from Mrs. Wolford. She can be very intimidating, but that is mostly to scare away students who aren't serious. You need to attend every lecture because notes are very important for studying. The material is fascinating - I learned so much from her. She wants to make you a better student. Essay writing is important!
The class itself was really interesting. Her lectures are somewhat interesting but she is an exremely hard, hard grader. And if you are literally 2 minutes late, she won't accept your assignment. No exaggeration.
Having been at Chabot for a few semesters now, Women's History is still my favorite class. Ms. Wolford expects a lot from you on the in-class essay for the final, so you need to know essay structure, grammar, etc. for the class. This class is a heavy note-taking class, so attendance is imperative.
Instructor Wolford seriously knows her stuff! It is best to take the supplement course/lab if you care about your grade and you want to do well. A lot of worksheets and workbook. Make sure you take good notes! If you love history, and want to know women's history, Mrs. Wolford really wants you to learn it too! Expect dedication and review to pass!
I took lots of notes and was always in class yet she did not pass me. Please don't take her class b/c she doesn't grade fairly. All that hard work for nothing.
Extremely helpful. She's fast paced, but if you take good notes, you'll be okay!
Mrs Wolford was awesome! Interesting lectures, a good amount of homework and reading. Test are relevant to lectures & readings. She is a stickler for cell rings, texting, bathroom break, AND tardies...SHE DEDUCTS POINTS FROM OVERALL GRADE for these infractions. If you can handle the dont's then you are GOLDEN!!!!
Ms. Wolford was an awesome teacher! I had her for History 7 and right from the beginning lets you know that if you dont pass the first test shes most likely going to drop you. Her lectures are all oral but very clear so take good notes. She has 3 tests that include multiple choice and an essay question. The handouts she gives are for the tests.
Beware on tests days she makes you write an essay. After you finished with the multiple choice she gives you a paper explaining what you are suppose to write the essay on and its 5 paragraphs in total and you have to finish it with what time you have left depending on how long you took on the multiple choice!
Wolford was everything I hoped for in a teacher. Her lectures are very clear, and her class was very intriguing. The final was not that easy compared to the class assignments, but overall, great class. Because of her, I am now a Gender Studies major. Thanks, Wolford!
I honestly wouldn't recommend her. Forget perfect attendance and good participation helping you along the way when she's really picky about the timed essays you have to write with every multiple choice exam. You also have to pay a ton of attention to her lectures because she talks fast and doesn't present notes with them. No bueno.
She makes the material very interesting to learn and she's great at teaching! However, midterms/quizzes are a challenge. She expects a lot for essay and short answer questions. The multiple-choice questions have answers that are extremely similar to each other, but only one would be correct. It's like the reading section of the SAT all over again!
Going to class in a must take notes on everything he says and read the chapters in the book. No homework and the day before a test is a review he gives you 25 our of 50 questions from the test. Only have to do two essay assigments with only 850 words. And can do an extra credit presentation
Take good notes in this class. She's a great instructor, and she expects a lot from you, especially for tests. If you pay attention in class and take notes, you'll learn a whole lot. She makes the class very interesting, throwing out jokes quite frequently. She can seem intimidating, but she's actually a nice, good person!
Her class was pretty cool except for when you fail a test she says you will not pass and she drops you. Really hard on tests
Horrible from the beginning. Her lecture is very simple and easy as long as you take notes. I need it an add number for the class and when I asked she noticed my accent and told me that if I didn't understand English fluently I shouldn't add the class, to review the course outline and think about it before I added the class. I was embarrassed.
Loved this class but she grades tough and is really strict with turning in assignments
One of the best teachers I've ever had. Pretty strict, yet absolutely fair. Knows her stuff and teaches it so you just want to listen. If you're interested in history you'll love this class!
Dresses like it's the 1890s. She likes to pick fights like it's high school. Not a nice person. Generally favors female students. She's like a really mean grandma that nobody in your family likes but you suffer through being near her anyway. Would never, ever take a class of hers again.
Very clear in what you need to do to pass. She gives you the grade you worked for, very fair teacher.
I absolutely love Mrs. Walford, I even took her twice. Her lectures are really informative and interesting. She makes everything so clear and breaks her lectures down in a way where anyone could understand them. Lots of pages of notes per class (she covers a lot per session) and the tests are pretty fair. Super respectable and badass lady!
The work isn't too bad and the only books you need to read are for extra credit. If you go to class, take notes, listen, participate and prepare for your exams you'll do well. She has 3 tests, 30 multiple choice (which she gives study guides for) and an essay (which she gives you an outline for). Not an easy A but not a hard one either.
Amazing professor. Very passionate and strict but fair. She will not accept late work and will mark you down for being perpetually late. She is very clear about her rules in the beginning. Not sure why people say she's hard. They're obviously lazy, this is college, not daycare. Put in the effort and you'll do well. See the tutor for extra help
Whatever you do, DO NOT TO MISS CLASS. Make friends so you can compare notes and study for the tests. Turn in all work on time. Each test (3 total) has half multiple choice questions and the other half is an in class essay. One group project at the end (which is very easy) but people still mess that up, not sure how.
She really cares about her students and is encouraging. She is very credible and you can tell she loves what she is teaching. Would highly recommend her to anyone!
I took this class for Fall 2015 and I could say without a doubt, Mrs. Wolford excels in teaching History 27. I learned so much in this course. Hate attending? Do not take her class. You will fail. Her multiple choice tests are relatively easy, but the essay portion could be tricky. She's very helpful and gives extra credit from books.
I had Mrs. Wolford for Hist 27 this past fall and I passed the class with a C. Her tests are ok if you study the material. she grades tough on essay portion. Midterms are based off of the study guides she gives out. Love her lectures, and make sure to TAKE NOTES during her lectures, your notes will come in handy for the study guides.
Wonderful teacher! this is the type of class you actually want to go to. You will never be bored, she is extremely funny, and really fair. remember to always bring Ur book its mandatory! Love love love her!!
LIFE CHANGING CLASS!!
I LOVE Ms. Wolford. She really does care about her students and wants them to succeed. She gives as much extra credit as she can, but she does make you work for some. She has her own textbook, which is super convenient, and cheap. All the readings and homeworks are in the book so you don't waste your money. Would take her again. She is the best!!
Absolutely loved this class. I believe any subject she teaches would be a good class to attend. She is VERY clear on her grading policy and what is going to be on tests. If you read the subject material you will pass! A pleasure to be in her class.
Wow, did she open up my eyes to the injustice of women in society, back then & today. She pulls sources from all different times in history, biblical scriptures, the struggles of native Amer. women, white missionaries settlers, enslaved black women, etc... There was 1 group project, & a few tests, but she provided many Extra Credit opportunities.
She made her own (affordable) textbook that you use everyday. Her lectures are clear. Her homework is basically reading a text and answering a few questions. Tests are hard, but she gives A LOT of EC opportunities and if you do the review sheets that she passes out you will be fine. Overall I enjoyed her class and learned a lot!
This class was very good and interesting but as i struggled on the 1st test, she shared "if you struggled and got a bad grade, suggested you should drop her class." Meaning she cannot teach you anything more because you don't have the ability to keep up with her teaching. I was shocked it caused a lot of students to leave and didn't want to try.
She didnt specify on her rubric that you can't turn in late work but other than that she's a great teacher! Really fun and organized! Her assignments are easy, and as long as you do them and show up to class, you'll be fine! Would totally recommend
She is a phenomenal instructor. She opened me up to a new world with her lectures and her passion is evident. Her class isn't easy but it isn't impossible either, I'd say it's a happy medium. Be prepared to work and stay on top of everything. She gives you study guides so there's no reason you can't pass.
I enjoyed Mrs Wolford's class. 2 of the 3 exams have a 30 pt essay. Essay prep materials to be turned in the class prior to the exam, so you have help w the essay. The mult choice portion of the exams is straighforward. Study the review sheets and lecture notes and you'll ace it. If you're not a strong writer, do the extra credit. Don't skip class.
Mrs. Wolford is an amazing teacher. She sincerely wants students to succeed, and makes it clear how to, as long as you do the work. Her lectures are engaging, and she's incredibly understanding to those of use with accommodations and willing to meet you half way, as long as you go the other half. 100% would take again!
I LOVED This class. One of the most straight forward classes every. She does create her own textbook which you will need to buy and makes you read a lot but as long as you go everyday youll be fine. I attended study group every day which lead me to a great grade . She also helps with every question!
First time in my life i like studying history. Gave me a better perspective being a woman in a patriarchal society. Love her and love the class. Very dedicated teacher.
Has her own textbook & uses a ton of sources to help you understand the material. Study guides every week (colored paper for midterm/final exams). Collects random HW for grading. A bit tough with exam essays. She's clear on how the class works, so make sure you pace yourself with all the work she gives you. Trust me, procrastinating's a bad idea...
Mrs. Wolford is an average professor. Her lecture vids are in-depth, providing every answer you need for review sheets. Get ready for her very monotone hour-long vids which make women's hist. boring. Besides that, she will dock points off assignments very easily but can be understanding if you need to make up one or two HW. LOTS OF HW, TOO!
Professor Wolford is an outstanding professor who truly cares if you pass. While she makes you work for your grade, you'll really get a lot out of this class. Whatever you do, do not procrastinate!! She gives 2 extra credit opportunities to help bring up your overall if you need a push to the finish.
Jane's lectures are great but she gives to much homework and not enough time to finish one assignment . assignments are easy but if you miss one little information then no credit. just wished she was more understanding during Covid
Lecture heavy, but lots of assignments are created to make sure you understand the course material. Make sure you take every quiz and exam, one missing quiz could be the difference from you passing or not.
Extremely hard grader and nitpicks every single thing. I liked her lectures but with how hard she graded and how she leveled assignments almost everyone in my class had a C or lower by week 6. Multiple people ended up dropping as there was no way we would have made it through the rest with a passable grade
Lectures extremely heavy. 2 mid terms and one final exam. Each mid term consists of a multiple choice and essay. Her grading is very tough and often times does not make sense. There is a lot of work in this class and extremely long lectures. You really have to work for your grade.
This professor expects you to know every single thing that she talks about in her lecture slides. Her expectations of her students are too much, for how little she is teaching you - she says a lot of nothing. Even if you study and do her review sheets, your chances of getting an A are slim because of how tough of a grader she is. Avoid at all costs
I took her U.S. women's history class about 18 years ago and it was life-changing. I was about to give up on school bc I didn't think it was for me but her teaching style and her love for the subject really captured my attention and I stayed in school because I figured if there was one Professor like her then maybe there is more. Amazing human.
