Teaches excellent conflict skills and negotiation classes! :) Hysterical in class! Shows clips from Everybody Loves Raymond... Very entertaining and educational!
She was a great teacher. I highly recommend her class.

yayeahh shes awesome.
she really makes communication exciting and makes u want to go to class!
I think it's a great class.
She was great! Really made class fun and interesting, her stories can be really funny too! :)
Great speaker, enjoyable, strangely attractive

Our class is the "test class" for her book. It is ~1000 FULL pages, double-spaced, no pictures - way too much info to memorize for a 100-level class. I do enjoy & recommend the class though because her lectures are interesting and do a good job of involving the class. Tests are not hard if you thoroughly do the review sheets & pay attention.
I wouldn't say that the class is easy, but it is fair. She is very interesting and has great stories. The worst part of the class are the guest speakers. The tests are not a piece of cake though, you will need to study.
The teacher is very intresting but the test are not all that easy. Study and you should do fine. very little homework and quizes online
great teacher...very exciting to listen to...helps you out if you need it! Just apply yourself and she'll notice you...and help you out if you are struggling
Dr Alberts is a fantastic professor. Her lectures are stimulating, exciting and interactive. I highly recommend her. Be warned though, if you are looking for a professor who doesn't require work, then this class is not for you. I learnt a ton in her class.
I thought Jess was one of the best professors in the communications department that I've had so far. From the very first day, she keeps you entertained and interested in the course concepts by relating her own experiences to them. Overall the course was pretty interesting, the lectures could get a little redundant though. The tests were pretty diff
Probably the best intro to comm teacher at ASU. She really knows her subject; in fact, she wrote the class textbook (1000 pages, but doubled spaced, so it's managable. And you don't -really- need to read it if you dl her powerpts and pay attention in class). Subject matter is easy, but you have to go to class or you'll be docked pts.

Nice lady, great and interesting lectures
NOTE: Jess and Janet Alberts are the same prof. She changed her name to Jess. Anyway, the material itself is a joke, but the tests are tricky. Luckily, she gives plenty of extra credit and there are multiple study groups.
The tests are easy (don't count on an easy final, though, she told us that she took it herself and missed several questions O_O?!). Attendance accounts for about 20% of your grade, which sucks because she talks about herself an AWFUL lot during the lectures--this class should really be titled "communication and its relation to Dr. Albert's life".
Should get A on the tests if know the review sheets. Go to class! Attendence helps your grade immensely if you do bad/decent on the tests. The extra credit helps too. Overall not to hard of a class. I learned more about her and her husband some days than the cirriculum due to her "real life" examples.
easy. have to go to class to get points but all the power points are online. shes nice and if you need help she has lots of TAs
Had her for COM312/400 Spring 2006. She is great! This class was very insightful. I learned a lot. Her lectures are interesting, and she likes to hear from her students. Highly recommended!
Quite possibly the easiest class at ASU. Alberts does a good job and is a fairly entertaining teacher, making the material easier to learn. Don't miss more than 2 classes because there is extra credit if you don't. Easy A+ if you pay attention in class and don't skip.
This was definitely a great class. Just make sure you go, take good notes (print slides and write extra info on the side), or if you need extra help, go to tutor sessions and you're set for an A. The topics are always interesting too, she has a great flair about her.
Very interesting, 3 tests in the class, takes electronic attendence, extra credit, take this class!!! easy A
Dr. Alberts is a very interesting and animated speaker. The tests are heavily based from the textbook so make sure you read. She provides a study guide for each test so make sure you know everything on it. Class is pretty straightforward and easy A with some effort. She does use clickers and attendance counts for a sustantial part of the grade.
Janet Alberts is a nice teacher who means well, but this semester her TAs were the ones who made the test. The problem with this is that it was not reflective of the study guides, and was mostly made to confuse the students. I found the tests very unfair and ridiculous for a 100 level communication class. I wouldn't recommend it.
She is an excellent lecter, very entertaining and animated. However, the tests are too difficult for a 100 level class, and she doesn't allow any students to leave class early or you risk getting participation points knocked off (very silly for a lecture class of 400.)However, she is not boring and usually makes a couple jokes during class.
She is a pretty good teacher, but some of her rules are a little odd. She explains the material well & she knows her stuff, but her examples tend to revolve around her and her life instead of general situations.
Tests are way too hard! but good teacher.
She keeps the topic interesting, especially with her lectures on relationships!
GREAT professor! because of her, i switched my major. that's how much i enjoyed communications! fabulous professor! can't say it enough. her exams are reasonable meaning if you study, you'll do well. you have to attend every class to get clicker/participation points. but those are easy points. jess alberts is highly recommended!
Jess was the best teacher I've ever had. She made the class interesting and fun. She is extremely friendly and flexible. She modeled what it means to be an excellent communicator!
At first, I was excited to have such an enthusiastic professor teach a topic. After a few weeks in the class, I realized that she was very pompous. She always made references to her degrees, her great family matters, her cars. I got sick of it. The last 2 months of class she rarely showed, TA's did it all. Test are to hard for an entry-level class.
Very energetic and likable teacher. She gives out extra credit for coming to class, so go! I would have gotten a B+ had I not gone to every lecture, instead I ended up with an A- and saved my scholarship. Very personable and one of the best teachers out there!
Because of Dr. Alberts, I loved COM 100 and even changed my major. Her enthusiasm and funny stories make the class interesting and the concepts easy to learn. Plus, the textbook is an easy read and her exams aren't difficult. I highly recommend her!
GREAT CLASS!!!! JESS is AWESOME, she is so sweet and very helpful. I would recommend this class to anyone who plans on having a relationship or getting in conflict during their life. Not to hard and lecture is interesting.
Best COM teacher at ASU, study guides are great and she is kinda funny..for a teacher
pretty easy class. puts her notes on blackboard. have a quiz once a week straight out of the textbook. She makes the class fun and interesting. Take her! she also is kinda hot lol
Professor Alberts's lectures are very informational. Her sense of humor is incredible. However, if you read the book, you will not learn anything new in her lectures.
She is awesome. The stories she tells help you understand the material very well. If oyu go to class You are guranteed to pass. Its very easy to listen and take notes.
Dr. Alberts is a great professor! As long as you attend class, take notes, and complete the weekly quiz - - you should be fine. Plus, Dr. Albert's lecture style is hilarious. She formats the information so it is easy to apply to your daily life. Which inturn makes it easy to retain the material:) I would highly recommend this class to anyone!
WORST TEACHER EVER! Everyone who says she was so awesome and enthusiastic is wack. she was enthusiastic about herself. all she did was talk about herself and tests are way to hard for entry level class! and if you leave 2 min early you will not get credit for attending! she is crazy nuts for an entry level test have to be crazy to take it!!
I AGREE, the worst teacher ever. She has her TA"s running the entire class, in fact half the time she never showed up. This is a entry level class, and the tests are hard. The tests should be common sense but she words them so it confuses you. Not to mention the CLICKER was never working, and if you go over by a sec on the online quiz it wont count
This class was fun and organized well but I do agree the TA's ran most of the class. Also all she does is talk about herself and she is funny but i found her to be a little obnoxious. She is, however, very friendly and helpful if you need help so it just depends if you're going to have a personality clash or not
My respect for her died when my textbook had the resale value of $12. Sorry. Do ASU students really need new book editions next semester? :[ It's kind of unethical because our tuition is going up like crazy. Her tests are too hard too. Unless you take (real) notes in class and memorize them, you won't get an A.
Good and enthusiastic teacher. Talk about herself a lot to elevate the lectures. Professional but fun in general. Quizzes over reading (her book). Tests are fairly easy over reading and lectures. Book is a little shallow sometimes but full of real-life examples. An easy A and an easy class. TAs ruin class sometimes and the CLICKER is a waste.
She uses a lot of examples which help you to understand material. Her tests are fairly easy.
Dr. Alberts is one of the most passionate teachers I have met at ASU. Her class is fun and is taught with open-architecture. You would be missing out if you did not take atleast one class with her.
Best TEACHER! Keeps the class fun and awake. need to come to class to get partcipation points, she hates talking in her class, and she will take away your clickers.SHe has her TA's everywhere. Tests are Easy and so is the online quizes and exams. SO Just Study!
Jess is a GREAT professor. Her class is enjoyable and her references to the real world make learning the material fairly easy, as long as you attend class. There are online reading quizzes, plenty of extra credit, and she drops the lowest test score at the end of the semester. I highly recommend her!!!
MUST read textbook. quizes are online and not hard but exams are pretty difficult. Doesn't post notes/power points online. not am easy A/B!
Extremely knowledgeable and interested in the subject she teaches. Monitors computer use to ensure you are using your computer for notes only. Uses clickers for points. Talks about her self a lot, but is an amazing teacher and has been on Oprah. How sweet is that? Definitely recommend Janet Alberts for Com 100 at Arizona State.
She made this lecture class extremely entertaining. Very clear and knowledgeable--an expert in her field. Easy A if you take good notes; 3 tests multiple choice and you don't have to take the final if you do well on them. Clickers used for attendance. Read the book, take good notes from the lectures and you're golden in her class. Recommended.
kind of annoying, alot of the class is run by the trusted TA, i know some people who have had problems with her. loves herself. still got a B+ but she wouldnt round up the 4 points
She's a great teacher and definitely made communications interesting. She does use a lot of personal examples but they are entertaining and it's not in vain it's just to relate what she is teaching to real life.Go to class, a lot comes from lecture on tests.Tests are straight forward off the study guide. No clicker.Lots of Xtra credit. Pretty easy!
This class is easy if you show up! She is funny!
Lectures don't help on the tests, you can't go to class and write down notes and that's it. I got an A with minimal effort (didn't read the textbook or show up for half the class because ppl posted notes online). That being said, if you're like me and don't give a flip about comm. pick a dif instructor cuz you put a little more effort in this class
Could she talk about herself any more? It's like that is all that matters.
Great professor, knows what she's talking about, makes class fun & engaging w/ many opportunities for feedback (which are encouraged by participation points). Drops low scores in every category of grading. Uses real life examples to make her points clear. Awesome way to learn one of the few subjects relevant to day-to-day life. Highly recommended.
Dr. Albert's is by far the best teacher if you are taking COM 100, she is funny and truly has a passion for her subject. That being said it is important to read the text even though it may seem like it is common sense (most of it is)the test questions can be somewhat misleading at times but all in all its an easy A.
GREAT teacher. Drops 3 lowest quizzes and lowest exam score. Truly interested in teaching the material. Engages the whole class and gives points for participation. Tests are super easy if you study and read the material. READ THE BOOK before each class! Quizzes are more important than you think. Overall enjoyable class and she's incredibly helpful.
Professor Alberts is a bright and interesting lecturer. The class structure is simple and weekly quizzes are easy. Lets you tweet for participation. There are no exams, so you could go to class and listen without having to really learn what you're hearing. Group project at end of semester is frustrating. There seems to be 2-3 slackers per group.
SUCH A GREAT TEACHER!! she is actually interesting when she explains things, and the only grades are small, 4 question "quizzes" each class over the reading (i never ever read once) , 4 tiny papers, and a few extra credit assigns! NO TESTS AT ALL!!!!
Professor Alberts might be my favorite at ASU! She kept lectures interesting and relatable. No exams are given and the quizzes are easy. It's an easy A with a great instructor!
I absolutely loved her class! She holds your interest and makes sure that everything is clear. I have had only two professors who have made a lasting impression on me, Alberts and Stermetz. Absolutely wonderful professor. You have to put work in, but her class is absolutely worth it
Literally the easiest class that you will actually enjoy attending. Our tests were online and open book and we only had 2, 2 page papers about our experiences. I would take her again in a heartbeat. She's also just awesome in general.
Mrs. Alberts is one of the best professors I have ever had. She is amazing! I loved every moment of her class. Not only is she engaging, but she actually wants to teach you the material you care about. She is AWESOME! I will 100% be taking another class with her! Take this class, trust me you won't regret it!
Professor Alberts is simply one of those teachers that makes a difference. She gives ASU more value, character, and x factor which is needs to be a competing university.
Alright, Dr. Alberts is a nice funny lady however this class is poorly structured. I was fooled by the reviews so I chose this class and while my grades are OK at the moment, the only reason why I dont have an A+ is because she doesnt use class time to go over material. She just tells stories the whole time. Also, super liberal, but nice lady
Alberts was a solid teacher overall. The class involved lectures and three tests. The only grades were the tests and attendance. She is super nice, but she gets distracted easily and almost never finishes a powerpoint within the class hour. You're going to read a lot, but if you do that, then it's an easy A.
Could not recommend prof Alberts enough. Her lectures literally fly by because she has so many interesting perspectives/funny stories about course material. There are quite a bit of writing assignments, but exams are very easy. She genuinely cares about her students and is so passionate about course material. 10/10 take Alberts!
Dr. Alberts is a great professor. She is extremely talented at applying the course material to real-life situations to increase our understanding. She is super funny as well. She actually co-wrote the textbook for the class and although some chapters may feel long, it is a fairly interesting and engaging book. Take her for COM100!!
Best professor she is so amazing I really loved the class and I would love to take any other class she teaches. I respect her opinions so much and love what she has to say about pretty much any topic.
My favorite Professor, I've had. Super funny and tells funny stories all class. The homework is through the online textbook and there are 3 exams. As long as you do the homework and go to review sessions, the class is an easy A. She makes the material worth learning. She is also super understanding and advises you to miss class if you're sick.
I can't recommend Dr. Alberts enough. She is super kind and funny, using personal anecdotes to illustrate more abstract concepts concerning relational communication theories. She is a fair grader, and the work is light; only requiring a few written assignments no more than roughly 3 pages each, and a few simple exams. She's easily my favorite prof.
She is amazing and actually teaches things that you will use everyday
My favorite professor so far! She is so great at teaching and really easy to understand the material she teaches! I would recommend her to anyone, and 100% would love to have her again
You need to read the material and study it in advance to do well on the exams. The lectures are always fun and interesting. She really tries to incorporate real life examples into everything so you understand the material and remember it.
BEST TEACHER EVER seriously a class if you do the study guide, write down her examples she uses along with the notes to help further understand the concept when studying helps so much. Not a lot of work, just study and you'll do amazing. Her class is always fun and her stories are so so funny please take this you wont regret it
This was my favorite class this semester. Both Professor Alberts and her TA Bridget made the class extremely interesting and helped us to learn a lot. There is a lot of reading and quizzes on the reading but they do not take very long and are relatively easy. This is a really great class and I highly recommend it.
She is the toughest grader I've ever had while this is just a 100-level class. 7 discussions and responses, but she takes every little details seriously and will deduct your points if you make mistakes. The Exam is through Lockdown Browser + Webcam with no notes at all for 4 chapters, but she will ask you many details in the textbooks. Good luck!
I took her COM 100 class, she did Iclicker questions for participation but we would get a point just for answering and 2 points for it being correct. The textbook was free online, quizzes on there (quizlet). And the exams were in person multiple choice, not hard..the material just had you second guess which was the correct answer. Very fun prof
